The problem Florida homeowners are having with insurance is due to their own greed Thousands of you have colluded with roofing contractors and attorneys to get your insurance carrier to pay for a new roof once your roof is close to the end of its useful life.
I personally know of three homeowners who have bragged about getting new roofs paid for by their insurance company even though the damage had NOTHING to do with storm damage... it was simply a 20-year-old roof that needed to be replaced because it started leaking.
This insurance scam is throughout the state. Roofing contractors are getting rich with it.
A law was already passed for that.
Yup. I know of people bragging about this and telling others to do it that's who cares doesn't matter
The roofers goes knocking on your door and entice everyone
Just watch… later this year, these same insurance companies will be reporting record profits and bonuses.
Prudential already doubled its profit last year!
Capitalism; if you don't like the product, then don't buy it.
@@DistrustHumanz the homeowner didn’t buy a $13000 policy!… extortion is not capitalism!
How about YOU starting an insurance co and doing a better job? 100% chance you won't along with the dozens of other people that I've posted this to.
@@bobroberts2371 can’t do anything in Florida without the governor! Obviously you don’t live down here! FYI I am fortunate enough to afford these rates… and more fortunate afford not carrying hurricane insurance! You see in Florida you don’t have insurance, you have insurance payments! Insurance companies can take up to 2 years to settle UNDER FLORIDA LAW! This is where you would expect the governor to step in!….. and I have gone through that process, unfortunately!
Wow! That is not affordable. My home is still under 2k for insurance. If it gets much more I will just drop it and take the chance and save up that money to self insure. I am in Polk county
Mine jumped to 6200 WTF what are our elected officials doing. Who's pockets are getting stuffed!!
Its the citizens who are thieves. It is called free market. You have to pay for your stuff. Florida home owners are communist, want free stuff. If you want it your way, elect more crooked politicians. Or just pay your bills, Stop being a thief, and/or go eat dumpster meat with the homeless. Those are your choices, but stop crying. And that ain't rice in the dumpsters, thems maggots.
You can thank the people who live by the costal lines for this . Obviously they are the ones will most likely be impacted by winds and flooding. They are the main reason why
@@r.r4981 Jesus is who brings this wrath. Look around.
Next year 30,000
My premiums almost doubled for this year.
Well if you don't have a mortgage you become self-insured
Self insured my a.. they will be crying broke if so so thing happens and looking for a hand out. U less you have enough in the bank to cover Self insured just means you are just going without insurance anything including total replacement, if someone gets hurt on your property, etc
@@user-kk3qg5el1mI paid over 4k a year for 10 years.....that's 40k+ poof gone. Now I canceled this year and put 45k in an account and now put $4,500 ever year into that account. Insurance companies are not there for you and they will find any excuse not to pay a claim, They are only there to report profits for shareholders.
@@user-kk3qg5el1m once you don't have a mortgage, you can self-insure by depositing your previous insurance payments in to a high-yield savings account and before you know it you'll have plenty of cash on hand to get your repair work done. Obviously the first few months are your most risky, so time it appropriately to avoid the rainy season and keep your fingers crossed.
$2800/yr for my 1950s Fixed up Florida Bungalow (in Dade City). It all comes down to the area & new replacement costs of the home.
My brother moved to Florida from New York after retiring as an Engineer, he bought a older house last August 2023, it March 2024 and he's asking me to loan him $9,000 dollars due to property tax increase, I kindly said no, and I just lost another brother, he won't last long at that house, cannot afford the mortgage as for myself I only rent an apartment 1 bedroom, I have no intentions of buying a house especially in Florida.
@eddieBoxer
That is another problem with new homeowners in Florida.......
The Florida Homestead Excemption.
It limits your homeowners taxes for as long as you make it your primary residence. Once you don't, sell or die the current or new homeowner gets to pay current market rate taxes.
Not only are insurance rates in floriduh 3x national average..
Insurance companies are leaving the state entirely..
But desantis is worrying about being "woke", revisionist AA history, banning books, and drag queens?
Ok
While your taxes may be low your total costs for home ownership far exceed what we pay for lake front homes in NJ. Thank your governor for his fine work in making Florida unlivable for the average person.
The average property tax in FL is .91% and there is no state income tax, no capital gains tax, average sales tax, and flat registration fee on vehicles. Meanwhile, NJ is still a communist wasteland of corruption, taxes, and disastrous infrastructure. If you make a decent living, all of the other savings far outweigh the property insurance issue.
In The Bahamas we can’t afford hurricane insurance its $10,000 per roof…that does not include the regular house insurance…..
Move to north Florida
No! Find another state to move to. Too many people are flocking here ruining Florida
@@user-kk3qg5el1m At some point, you or your family moved there.

Big house. She got a good deal for a long time. But now it's time to pay up .
This diver should join Adventures With Purpose.
The value of homes has gone up and insurance companies followed.
Why even live in Florida
many people think that Florida is the land of the undead. That Floridians are not even real people, due to the way they act. It's like zombies.
@@reactivepall3589 I’m in a rural part of Pennsylvania seems nice here I left Florida in 2021 best decision ever
Insurance is not required if your home is paid off. Set aside $ and "self-insure" Only way to beat the money grubbing ins companies.
How about YOU starting an insurance co and doing a better job?
Insurance is forced on most who have a loan, so it’s not an option and insurers can charge whatever they want. I’d like to see a real forensic accounting audit of these companies to see if they’re really losing that much, because I don’t see the executives taking any pay cuts.
I'v'e never been to Florida, it sure looks beautiful, I see why people move there. I can't afford those rates, guess I'll stay put.
People should try Gainesville lake city Tallahassee
This ☝️ poop has gotten waaaay out of control with no limits
If you can afford a 5000.00 dollar house you can afford insurance
Where can you buy a 5000.00 house. LOL!
@@omegamanxxx Maybe he's saying $500,000 dollar house. Can't even buy a shed for $5,000 dollars.
My bad $500,000
If you own the house outright you are better off to self insure.
Ask all the self insured in Fort Myers Beach, lol
And what do you mean by self insure? I’ll wait. In my opinion that just means go without and if something happens you are on your own don’t ask for any help
@@user-kk3qg5el1m Well, if you are smart, put the savings into a bond, sp500, bitcoin or something

Hurricane portion premium 3400 dollars. Non hurricane portion of premium 3396 dollors.
And the value of your house is what on the market?
you should sue the insurance company for essentially making your home worth way less.
YOU GOT TO PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE DROP IT DON'T NEEED IT
Well, that's just ridiculous. I've lived in. My house, it's going on 20 years last year. They raised me by $600. Why? I don't know, but this year I put a new roof woman. I didn't even get a discount. It actually went up a $1.05 Because I put a new roof on it This is total insanity.I'm not close to the beach.
Your property taxes and othe local taxes go up.
Time to leave Florida
Hey I am tired of subsidizing people who live there for insuRance let them pay your own way

Only if you move to Mars or the Moon where insurance is not an issue.
