    Reason why T-Mobile arenawill not be used as an NBA venture is because VGK owner owns 20 percent of the arena and prefers not to share with an NBA team. The OVG arena will be built for basketball only. Probably better for both franchises.

      I think the ice would be compromised with an NBA team at T mobile. Bill Foley doesn't like that idea. And the sight lines for basketball would not be as good as a custom stadium for the NBA. Too far away.

    I think they should elevate the new baseball stadium and build it on the roof of a parking garage. The best feature of playing on the Strip will be an awesome view of the lights. If you elevate the stadium you can get way more lights and better views. Plus premium parking spots and you might be able to overhang some stuff to increase over 9 acres or less. Maybe Ginger can do a rendering of a stadium on the roof of a parking garage.

    I think one thing that Vegas has over other sport markets is the gambling and in-game gambling. It's the nature of sports because it gives an incentive to care.

    Vegas is still in the running when it comes to MLS as the league is very impressed with Allegiant Stadium & its potential to be a great venue for soccer as it has hosted a Gold Cup final between the US & Mexico & multiple preseason matches involving European clubs since it has opened. They are also impressed with the attendance of the Lights in USL & feels as though it would carry over to MLS. Allegiant Stadium would likely be the home for any MLS expansion team as a soccer specfic stadium would not work in the climate Vegas has especially in the summer.

    Vegas was always a great sports down. The pro leagues were just too scared to give it a chance because they were too worried about being associated with gambling. Until they finally stopped caring and embraced it. Hockey will always be number 1 though

    Why do you always just show the city proper population, and not the metro population of a city. Where to locate a team will be based on the metro population and not just the city population alone.

    • @jordanking6939
      @jordanking6939 9 місяців тому

      The answer to that is, when people think about a sports market, they talk about the city population. Unless someone visits a major city, they ignore the whole Metro area.
      When talking about the Los Angeles NFL teams, you can't ignore the Valley, the neighboring counties like Orange County (Anaheim, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Fullerton), Ventura County (Simi Valley, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Paula).

    The Golden Knights have sold out their stadium (18K+) for 6 years playing 42 home games. 102% occupancy over that period one of the highest in the NHL. Try to buy a resale ticket for under $100 without the $25 in fees. Impossible unless its standing room or a non-viewing area. I suspect MLB tickets will be much cheaper on average. I don't see an attendance issue, particularly with so many transplants from other cities now living in the Vegas area.

    Well, the reason professional sports teams landing in Las Vegas is because of the trends in Las Vegas. People are moving to the Las Vegas Valley in numbers from California. Las Vegas Ambassadors, like Jacob's life in Vegas and Not Leaving Las Vegas one of the reasons for the popularity is that Vegas is more than sin city. I think it started as early as the late 80's when Vegas wanted to clean up its image, and get rid of the mob-owned casinos. Mega Resorts like the Mirange, MGM Grand, Luxor, Excalibur, Treasure Island were built to attract a more commercial-friendly atmosphere.
    During COVID-19, Vegas showed why it's a high-risk city. The education system along with healthcare need major improvements.
    The locals love the Golden Knights even though they might not be NHL fans. We're in an era where NFL teams aren't tied to one specific market. The Oakland Raiders have a Bay Area market, Los Angeles market, San Diego market, Arizona Market, Sacramento Market, Reno Market, Bakersfield, CA market (4 1/2 hours from Las Vegas). An 8 1/2 hour drive from Oakland, CA to get to Las Vegas, 3 1/2 hour drive from Los Angeles to get to Las Vegas.
    When Vegas hosts the Superbowl in 2024, you're in for a treat. I visited Vegas during the Tyson Fury vs. Wilder 2 fight in February 2020. The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team visited UNLV baseball. They played a double-header on Friday, so the athletes and parents had the Saturday exploring Las Vegas.

SO when they go, they spend the entire time gambling -- not drinking or partying or going to shows (yes they do but not as much as Vegas). They GAMBLE because its the only place they can go do to it.

    Las Vegas is a risky investment. A tourist-based economy. When the economy crashes, and it will in the next few years, as it appears, people will have less disposable income and they will be less inclined to visit Las Vegas. Attendance will depend primarily on locals, and outside of Las Vegas there aren't many people for hundreds of miles other than the smaller cities of Kingman, St. George, and Bullhead City. Las Vegas is also relatively small population wise, and their white population is barely over 800 thousand, and this is the demographic that generally goes to baseball games.
    I think professional sports outside of hockey and basketball (arena sports) is extremely risky in that city.

It’s just a destination for fans of other teams with years of legacy in another city to travel in for. Yes people will still go, yes the owners will make tons of money, and yes fights still happen in Vegas, but the quality of all these things has gone down in that city since more sports have moved there. Everyone wants in on the cheap gambling addict money now, and it shows in the stands.
