This is about Panic! Going to their 3rd eara and portended Pretty.odd doesn't exist. Imagine if Brendon left instead of Ryan, you think Panic! Will still be as popular as it is today? My favourite music video of theirs. I think the thing I love the most about Panic! is how... _Theatrical,_ they are. Like, if there was a full-length movie made based on this video, I would totally watch it. There are so many questions that need answering, after all, and Brendon (and Spencer, too,) is a surprisingly good actor.

Crazy how back during the first and second albums, Panic had more of a "Victorian" feel, especially in the way they dressed. Their first set of shows for AFYCSO, had them wearing clothing from that era. After the Pretty.Odd and Vices era, and during the time Spencer went to rehab for his addiction, they went through another era change, but this time, the only official member of PATD was Brenden. They went from early/late victorian costumes, to a more modern look of Brenden wear a suit. This will be the final era.of the band sadly, as of 1/25/2023, Brenden announced that PATD is no more. Even though panic was signed immediately without playing a single show, they proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with. Thank you Brenden.

well as most people have stated the chained ballerina part was brendon trying to leave the sound of pretty odd and he couldnt bring himself to it as he believed it would benefit everyone (the fans and all of the members staying together). but i feel the fact that he said okay so quickly was showing that he had already made up his mind in not wanting that sound anymore and he just need some reassurance that it was the right thing to do.

NORTHERN DOWNPOUR SENDS IT'S LOVE
This whole thing is a metaphor for the split. Panic, if you didn't know, split after the release of Pretty. Odd due to half the band wanting to go in a more modern, pop-y sound (Brendon and Spencer) and the other half wanting to continue with the Beatles-esque music from the second album (Ryan and Jon)The two ghosts are definitely Jon and Ryan, and Brendon is hesitant to let them go. All the people he's bringing along with him look circus-y/fantastical, symbolizing both AFYSCO and Pretty. Odd. He wants to bring the old styles with him as the band continues, but he can't have everything, as we learn with the ballerina. She's locked up, symbolizing Brendon and Spencer having "locked away" the band's old style to continue with more pop-y sounding music. But Brendon isn't ready to let go all the way because that was Panic!, the music the band made as a whole, though Spencer convinces him it's time to move on. (Cont'd in replies as I ran out of room)
The obstacles the group face symbolize both physical and mental obstructions, like being afraid of criticism about the new music or more literally no longer having a guitarist or bassist. Brendon and Spencer struggle getting all the old components of their former music style through these obstacles up until the very last. The whole, "You have to let go" bit isn't about them having to leave their possessions, because one, it's very obvious they could get by with them, and two it ends up just being Spencer and Brendon. Again, Spencer helps Brendon to let go of the old style of music and move on. But they were more than just music. The group leaving, unable to "let go" symbolizes Ryan and Jon, unable to move on with the band and its modernizing sounds and ultimately leaving.

As people seemed to not know what the vid was really about, here is what I think the characters/imagery/story/etc represent. Overall, the video is about the split of Ryan Ross and Jon somebody from Panic!, leaving Brendon and Spencer to continue. Written in note form
Shadows - Jon and Ryan
Barman - manager/Brendon’s conscious (trying to reassure self that it's right to continue)
Rain = the day they split/currently going through at time of video being made (sad, darkness, bleak)
Sunshine = remembering the past/nostalgia
French Royalties/Dandy mother and child - Panic! Growing up throughout years, but still dressing up in the fancy costumes. Earliest stages of career, excited to start
Dumb and Dumber - The change of genre (A fever to Pretty. Odd.). Memories of the past for Panic! (photos), as well as style (clothes). Brendon wants to pick out best/most important bits of that album and carry it on - changing and evolving music, the others can’t/wont
Little kid and father - the family of Panic! Looks a little like Ballad (Ryan helped?), little like mini Panic! From Green Gentlemen video. Again with the clothes and costumes
“The weather’s doing the back and forth, we gotta go” - indecision, doubts in the band, where to go next.
“One more set, and I’ll be there” - withholding change, just one more gig
Dancer girl - Creativity. Brendon sets it free, dances with it, creativity is his. But then she turns (creative control fights with Ryan Ross). Eventually Brendon plays the bigger man, and leaves Ryan’s toxic creative force to save Brendon’s own creative ideas (represented with life). Can’t help Ryan tho, has to leave behind, as he wont stop. The cycle/fight would go on and on otherwise (She’s already chained up again)
Brendon and Spencer leave together, but still hold onto past (people coming with them). Have hopes to continue, however battles between Ryan/Jon and Brendon/Spencer continue, plus doubts over success without them, etc
Alternative rockabilly girl - another Panic! Genre
Short people - excitement for future? They are dressed in Vice and Virtues-style costumes? Likely as band started work on this album before/during split

Blockages in the way. Brendon and Spencer keep going despite difficulties and warning signs of difficulties/problems, in career and new album
Final scary blockage. Have to let go of past, but other band members can’t, and have to leave. Or signifies, Brendon and Spencer letting go of the actual people, who represent past. Short man wants to continue, but his wife wont (difficulties in making the album during split if the couple do represent V & V)
Brendon and Spencer find strength together, past the barricade, but into the flames (will they survive - will they be successful?)
This is just my personal opinion, there could be many variations, plus the metaphors could be based of just personal things that happened among the band that is not publicly known, therefore there is no real way of telling what the metaphors stand for etc.

I love how you see the video as a metaphor with all its representations and took the time to comment it all to share it with others but when you mentioned about fights between the band members, I don't think they fought that much. Ryan and Jon just wanted another music style than Brendon and Spencer and decided to leave the band. It's a pretty acceptable reason since you shouldn't force people into doing something they don't enjoy. Sure it's a big change for the band but there's nothing they can do about it. (Sorry if my english is bad)

@@dylankimmel5724 basically this came out right after Pretty. Odd. and when two members of PATD left the band, leaving Brendon and Spencer. They made this video as a way to move forward and not carry the baggage of the past of the band. Every other character dropping off leaving just them two symbolizes them being the ones left in the band and for the new album (at the time), Vices and Virtues

So I just did research literally so I could reply to this comment; Brendon apparently wrote Mona Lisa before they had even finished Pretty. Odd., but everyone kept passing it up. He finally got to use it when the other two left, and, to Brendon, it symbolized a new beginning for the band.
