From my experience, it depends on the airlines and the terminal. Stay away from terminal 1 at the least. Also ever heard of the saying, "you get what you paid for," well, it's real in the Philippines. Cheap flights are a nightmare to navigate, especially check-ins and their usual 5+ hour delays, but major airlines are easier but expensive, almost twice as much as the cheaper ones.
i think you went at a good time but even when it's bad, i had worse queues at schipol airport. sfo and a few other european airports are pretty bad too and yeah, cairo airport is horrible. at arrivals itself, the sales staff at the duty free were absolute scammers
I was there in 2008. Arrival was fine. Departure was great! i got through checkin quickly, then paid $10 (2008 money) to wait in the Premium Lounge for my plane. This is like a "business lounge' available for all passengers, at a small cost. Spacious, comfortable, and help yourself to drinks (esp. beers!) and a good array of food - with snacks, salads and cooked meals. At the next leg, Singapore, I found a similar lounge, but it was $50 (2008 money)
One hack is to enter NAIA (Manila) Terminal 3 through Departure Entrance 4 onwards. No queue to enter at all! The first few entrances are usually accessed by Cebu Pacific and AirAsia guests so there’s always a long queue to enter. I think temperature inside the terminal has also improved. The terminals were experiencing power issues so air conditioning was not 100%.
The worst airport I have ever had a layover and flown from was the old Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya - I remember going through the old terminal a few months before a 'fire destroyed the older parts' just after they had finished building a newer portion with much more modern infrastructure. Coincidence?
The real issue with Manila Airport is trying to transfer terminals. The terminal transfer bus runs infrequently, so I had to get a taxi/Grab from T3 to T1. Very stressful, especially when you don’t have local currency or a working phone 🙃

It's now under new management. Improvements start on September.
i think you went at a good time but even when it's bad, i had worse queues at schipol airport. sfo and a few other european airports are pretty bad too
and yeah, cairo airport is horrible. at arrivals itself, the sales staff at the duty free were absolute scammers
Never had an issue…
It depends on the season,if there's an event or local holiday
that airport is a curse 😂
Stop picking on Manila Airport. Been to a little over 100 countries .... really a lot of countries have bad airports. Didn't bother me, not all countries are affluent. You are visiting to experience people and culture. The inconveniences are parts of travel experience. I find Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Lima, La Paz, Caracas, Kathmandu, Colombo, Cairo ... I find less nice compared to Manila.... didn't bother me
Not the facilities but the endless scams and syndicates that work there. I am filipino and has not gone home for almost half a decade because I dont want to deal with employees who would try to unjustly bar you from your flight.
"We may be the worst but we dont lose people's luggage"
Airports really reflect the quality of a country's institutions.
Singapore has a Parliament.
Philippines has a senate.
Remember ALWAYS fly Philippine airlines in the Philippines they use terminal 2 which is Far better than terminal 3 and 1
I would say the lack of toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms was the worst part for me 🤢
Just go at night like me: then its just like a normal airport😊
When I went to Manila, I was trying to go back to Sydney, but a plane actually crashed, landed there with its nose gear up search it up. It’s a real thing I was there when it happened
Can't blame you. We need honest reviews like you, to call attention to the concerned government branch and offices supervising the airport. The denials and pretensions need to stop.
it actually is so bad we landed from japan and we had to stop im manila because their were no other available flights and there were people sleeping on the floor in the airport and there were not tables exept for at the food places and they were always out of everything
What i hate about our airport is to carry heavy luggages up to the xray machine. It only had long lines when immigration had a strike.
I've heard so much scary stuff about traveling in Egypt overall that I ended up cancelling my plans to travel there and decided to visit Thailand instead 😭
I initially was scared to visit Egypt but decided to visit and had a great trip!
Didn’t look even half as bad and unorganised as SGN, when I visited Ho Chi Minh City a few weeks back 💀
The terminal 1 is the worst. It has scammers and those scammers are the workers or airport employees.
5 to 6 year's from now a world class new manila international airport in the Philippines
That bus bouta become an actual airbus
This coming March I guess they will start the upgrading of the airport which the SMC got the contract to fix it.
