Vegeta slowly losing it at the amount of Androids Trunks has missed will always be funny to me. And I love the way TFS tries to make the movies sorta fit into their abridged timeline.

What I love about TFS is they add their own spin while staying true to the source material. #13 does have a Southern accent in the dub, #14 actually doesn't talk much and they nailed 15#'s voice and attitude.

I love how the English VAs actually recognize DBZA. Funimation even wanted to have them cameo in the actual dub, but Toei hates fun and vetoed it for no reason.

@@elementgermanium TFS did manage to get in for the recreation of the Cell Games in DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters. Toei unfortunately caught wind of it and told Funimation to redub that scene. Thankfully they had already sent out the episode for broadcasting and DIRECTV didn't bother changing it so fans were able to record it.

Definately! Would have been so cool to hear him in more TFS stuff but Briner got really busy. It's even more cool knowing that All Mights voice actor (and ofcourse Vegeta and Piccolo) is also in the movie as the narrator.

As a well-known voice-actor in DB, someone like Cris Sabat must have heard of TFS around that time as i'm sure fans will have notified him one way or another. Sabat cameo-d in one or two TFS productions under DJ Sexidillionair or something (probably because of his contract with Funimation) because he likes what TFS do/did.

3:16 those are marks that Shaolin monks put on there heads. Yes, Kirilin used to be Shaolin, even though they’re not called Shaolin in Dragonball.
The dots are a monks devotion level, every time a monk completes their training they burn a dot on to their forehead, Krillin got to 6 before the start of OG dragonball.
It's probs just a stock background character design, but I like to imagine that might be a monk from the same monastery as Krillin.

Even though the Bojack Unbound Movie isn't in abridged, I would highly recommend watching it anyways after ep 60. When goku said to gohan, "I think its your movie next." He meant the Boujack movie

Couldn't Broly technically have happened at some point during the 9 days between Goku & Gohan leaving the ROSAT and the Cell Games? Though that would require them to turn off their Super Saiyan transformations, which they specifically said they wouldn't do...
Jack says that was the last DBZA movie until 'Christmas Tree of Might', but there's also 'Plan to Eradicate Christmas' as well as 'Episode of Bardock'.
I'm pretty sure those can be watched just about anywhere in the timeline since they are also non-canon.

When Goju takes out Super Android 13, that's actually Christopher Sabat who said "Are these guys even trying anymore?" He is the guy who actually does the English dub at Funimation for Vegeta, Piccolo, and so many other characters.

Goku can't charge the spirit bomb as a SS because it would charge it with negative energy

3:15 In Dragon Ball krillin started out as a member of a the Orin Temple. They were a group of martial arts monks and they all had shaved heads and six dots on their forehead. Unfortunately they bullied krillin to the point where he left and ended up training under Master roshi. The next time he saw some of his bullies he was strong enough to kick their ass really easily. That guy running is just a rando who looks like he was a member of that group of monks too lol.
Legit the best part of this one is Vegeta laughing because Trunks get blasted away.
Also the dots on the forehead is a tradition in some forms of Buddhism. Krillin was raised by monks, that’s why he has such powerful Ki for a human.
The original movie is actually where the ""dont you lecture me with your 30 dollar hair cut" meme comes from. Also in the actual movie when 13 hits Goku's dick it shows cracked eggs for a frame. Super 13 is the best OG DB movie IMO
The fish scene at the end comes from one sun. In the original both Piccolo and Vegeta sat in silence. One dub has fun with it and added this exchange.

Bonus Facts for this movie,
The clip where they show Teenage Gohan with Goten, Gohan is voiced by Justin Briner. Justin Briner who eventually goes on to voice Deku in the official My Hero Academia dub.
And the 2nd Narrator voice that steps in after the first one quits mid-line is voiced by Chris Sabat (credited as DJ Sexcidllionaire). Chris Sabat being the voice actor for Vegeta and Piccolo in the official DBZ/S dub.
Despite Funimation not having a history of being very cool with TFS, Chris Sabat has been a very big supporter of theirs. He even got them in to work on the official dub for DBZ Kai, unfortunately Funimation caught wind of it and scrapped their scene. During the Buu Saga there's a scene where actors reinact the cell games on TV, he got them in to voice the actors portraying the characters they dub in DBZA. (MasakoX voicing the actor in the Goku Costume, for example)

@@craigime I got the days from the wiki, and if it takes ten days for a human and 3 for a Saiyan, I figured a Saiyan's metabolism would be about that much faster to make the difference in days make sense.
It has been a bit since I checked the wiki. I may look at it again and revise the numbers. That said, math isn't my specialty.

If you ever want a kick, look up the convention premiere of this TFS movie! There is something so magical about the audience slowly realing what exactly happened to Goten as he disapears!
Fun little fact about the Roshi joke in the beginning, his name is infact not "Master Roshi" its an incorrect translation of his Japanese title The Muten Roshi (Old Heavenly Martial Arts Master) that was left over from a really early really bad english dub of original Dragon Ball, the thing is Roshi (Ro Shi) means Old Master so his english name means Master Master, a more accurate translation would be Master Muten which the english Manga actually uses like once.
Whats interesting is in japanese only his students or student adjacent characters call him Muten Roshi, every other character calls him Kame Sen'nin (turtle hermit) except for Goku, who calls him Turtle Grandpa or Oldman Turtle, alot of these are lost in translation

Only someone who has attained Super Saiyan Full Power and has been desensitized from the negative effects of the transformation can use it with the Spirit Bomb combo with minimal to no struggle. Only 2 characters have used it successfully. Goku and Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks in Super.
The "17 years" comment was referring to Cell. in Trunk's timeline, Cell was in that underground lab growing for 17 years before he stole a (different Trunk's) time machine to go back in time to find 17 and 18.

on a second thought, dbza or dbz for that matter, helped me understand the "time travel" in marvel's endgame, to the point where i couldnt understand what people were freaking out about when it came out
When it said that Dr Gero couldn't find the sound drivers on the interrnet, I remembered that thats exactly how it sounds when you downloaded a song in like Ares or Limewire and it was defective. I was like damn nice joke
For the record they haven't fully mastered Ssj1 at this point in the story. Trunks doesn't have his post Hyperbolic Time Chamber (Hypersonic Lion Tamer) haircut yet and Goku/Gohan went in after that, so they just recently learned how to transform. It's a huge stamina drain right now, which is why they didn't start transformed. While Goku and Vegeta like to start in base form to test the enemy, Trunks doesn't mess around like that. It further justifies they don't quite have full mastery yet.

Also, Android 14's Sounds can be put through a spectrograph and will put out various images related to what he said.

This was honestly my favorite of the movies. They all have such strong jokes written for em, especially the grape flavored android.
Bonus fact, while Vegeta is probably Toriyamas least favorite character, his actual favorite is Piccolo. When asked in an interview Toriyama decided to pick Goku as he’s the main character and it is his franchise, when asked for a different character he said not even jokingly HERCULE 😂 (Mr. Satan) after laughing & explaining why he said if I had to choose a more main side character though, he said I’d have to go with Piccolo, he loved his solitude & overall demeanor apparently & thinking back on it (Gohan was originally supposed to take over for Goku) it makes sense now that he had Piccolo kidnap him & train him & be such a big part of his life. (Dad) 😂
If you payed attention you should've noticed when the hat was being lowered onto 13's head that was a parody of "The Imperial March" from Star Wars in the background since that scene was supposed to be referencing Vader's helmet being lowered on his head in Revenge Of The Sith
None of the movies until the Battle of Gods movie onward are canon. Akira Toriyama considers them stories that occur in an alternate universe, and that's how most people think of them

That fish jumps thing is a real thing from the dub, piccolo and vegeta normally just sit there in silence, than one of the dubs adds those lines "is it over? Not until the fish jumps", than the fish jumps and it ends
Don't know if it was brought up, but the whole schtick with Android 14's voice is that it's an image-to-sound converter, encoding the image in the frequencies and bits. There's a link in the video's description where you can go back and forth between image and sound.
Krillen comes from a tribe of people who shave their heads and put the three dots on either sides of their forehead. They are a martial arts tribe and iirc krillen joined later in his life (he was around 8 in OG and had been there for years so i think the others were birthed in and he wasn’t) and was ostracized by everyone so he left and joined Roshi to prove them wrong. He kept his shaved head because thats simply how he was taught

Android 14's voice is actually made using a special program that turns pictures into sound files. The description has the program to turn them back into photos. For example, The line, "They will never know our suffering" was a photo of a Native American tribe. And the line, "jet fuel can't melt steel beams," is a photo that says Bush did 9/11.
If I remember correctly, the sound driver bit is a sound file that converts to a pic according to TFS
"What if" is popular on Dragonball UA-cam. It's hilarious that Toei actually did it first with these non canon DBZ movies.

Also, Jack, none of the DBZ movies are canon. The only canon "DBZ" movies were Battle of Gods and Ressurection F, but after Dragon Ball Super began, they became non canon too.
Right now, the only canon Dragon Ball movies are Dragon Ball Super Broly and Dragon Ball Super Superhero.
Battle of gods and resurrection F aren’t cannon. The shows version of those events is, but the actually movies aren’t. None of the movies are. So cannon wise, the way it played out in the show(DBS) is cannon but technically even tho the movies are the same events as how the show started, they’re not cannon

Everything Android 14 says in this can be run through a website that generates images based on the sound data. Yes, it was fully intentional.
I don't remember the specifics but there's a program you can use to decode the sound android 14 is making and it translates it or something like that, i believe it's in the description of this movie.
I really do wish they'd saved the 'Goku absorbs a Spirit Bomb' bit for Broly...they never did that again, either.

Until Goku learns how to use it without loss in stamina, the super saiyan transformation normally drains energy twice as fast which is why they don't use it right away. Similar to why superman doesn't use his heat vision all the time; it drains his power faster than any other ability.
Even after Goku learns how to use it without losing stamina, he still waits before transforming. Does it all the time in Super.
