THIS...Trump's mind is mush right now. They just used him to get in. In less than a year, I predict the country will belong to Bannon, Miller, Kennedy, etc. and the Evangelicals.
@freddupont3597 How about all those people who faced accountability, spent decades behind bars, or were executed for crimes they did not commit? Were they somehow not true Americans?

Let's see how all those BROs who voted for him like learning a highstep march with a long arm, flat palm salute . He is going to drop out of NATO and supply troops to Vlad quicker than they can put the flags up in their truck beds.
See, now that's just it, there is no certainty that being the president will truly shield him. What do you think it going to happen when he waves his presidential wand and makes it all go away? Lets just put it this way, the presidency requires legitimacy. Any attempt to use the presidency to get out from under the legal problems he created will greatly erode that legitimacy. It would risk a country wide fracture that would destroy the presidency and the credibility of Republicans. In the sadness, people are forgetting that they still have the power to keep Trump in line and failing that, exact a price from his presidency. If he is distracted by deep fractures in the country he will have little time for anything else.
This milliardaire problem is a world problem. Murdoch and Musk weren’t born in the US, the milliardaires in France own 90% of the paper press and a good chunk of private TV channels, and they don’t show leftist messages nor ideas. There is very little reason to be ashamed. The government is not us. We do not have to embrace their wretched, misanthropic worldview if we don't believe in it. No matter what they do, they cannot force you to do that. For my part, what I think we do have an obligation to do is come to terms with the fact that, while people have chosen the worse option, and while their understanding of WHY they are suffering is distorted, they did do this for reasons--and many of those are legitimate. The Democrats ran on a whole bunch of policies the last time that leadership did not have the mettle to push through. They seem to think that rhetoric is enough. It isn't. The Democrats have been relying on negative partisanship for too long. They clearly did not understand that, yes, people will indeed tell them to f off if they keep pulling that charlie brown football BS. They are dead-set against coming to grips with the fact that people can come to radically different conclusions than they can. Leftism is about solidarity (in the MLK I have a dream sense) and egalitarianism. They have been failing to meet the moment on economic inequality for decades. at the same time, they have embraced what one sociologist calls "boutique multiculturalism". Wearing kinte cloths and taking a knee. Wtf does that actually do for anyone? Does it actually improve the lives of the people they purport to care about? If it isn't followed with robust policy, it's like spitting in their face. Messaging about migrants while people here are suffering is just being an inverse Republican. By ascribing the appeal of Trump only to racism or rank stupidity, they precluded being able to understand the other reasons for his appeal. People hate when I say this stuff, but maybe now people will be able to see it. They suffer from what I call "political autism": the inability to understand that other people can see things differently than they do. People say this isn't different from Republicans, but it is. I'm not gonna get into entirely why, but it suffices to say merely that the Republicans are very shrewd in picking the groups they visibly oppose: there may be a lot of them, but locate them on the electoral map. See it?
Millions will perish, in Gaza, in Syria, in Ukraine, and now China will help themselves to Tiawan. Democratic leadership better hide, he told everyone he would 'punish' them. America will become the land where even angels fear to tread. We just couldn't seem to stand up to all those lies. We couldn't stand up to all the greed and selfishness America has become. Perhaps when "they" complain about the economy taking a s*it, we explain to "them" that "they" voted for it. As well as explaining to "them" the reasons behind all of "their" other complaints. Because we all know the writing is on the wall. "They" lack critical thinking skills and therefore, do not know right now how much and how badly "their" votes were. And to think that Project 2025 wants to get rid of the Department of Education; do they really need to? Seems to me they already have people "dumbed down enough".

This is what happens when people worry about a temporary problem with their grocery bill more than a potentially permanent one with their rights. I guess they're going to have to find out the hard way. The problem is that the rest of us have to find out with them.
And what is going to be even more Ironic, is the corporate Oligarchical take over, and the fact the Prices they were complaining about, were coming down because Biden and Harris were going after the those Corporations gouging the people. Now with American Totalitarian Faction in power, the Corporations are going to dump all pensions, and steal that money, then jack the price of everything up beyond the 4th quintiles ability to pay. But they will still blame the Democrats.

As an American who lives in Germany and has learned about history, the answer is yes, they tried to stay positive. Many comforted themselves with the saying, "One doesn't eat as hot as one cooks." One difference is that neither Germany nor Italy had a democratic tradition. The US does, but has chosen to forget it. In fact, Hitler never got more than 43% in a free election. Trump is set to get 52%. Belle is right that we have to build communities and not give up. But I'm not sure saying that he won't carry out his threats is the right approach.

I would imagine that many in Italy, Germany (and especially Austria) were bamboozled to the point of cheering the rise of fascism. Many thought it would usher in a new age of power and prosperity, and none of them bothered to see the corruption and criminality. For those who knew that those regimes were deadly serious about their rhetoric, a lot of them fled or went into hiding. Those who naively thought that the regimes were not serious had an extremely rude awakening.

Remember Putins words. Its not who votes, its who counts the votes that matter. Do you really think conservatives would honor their oaths? They haven't in the past.
Putin didn't originate this quote. Stalin once said something that approx. translates to: "I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how." But there are versions of this quote that go all the way back to the mid-1800s and have been attributed to everyone from Napoleon to Anastasio Somoza. The US voting system is distributed for a reason. That reason is that it limits the scope of impact of compromise. As we move forward, one of the fights we'll likely need to have, is to make sure it stays distributed.

The fact that this man has now used the presidency to evade accountability is emblematic of the billionaire problem in the USA

I didn't care what happened to MAGA before. I sure as hell don't now.
Nobody cares. You could NOT come through for all I care. If you're so pathetic that you get depressed every time you don't get your way in an election, then maybe it's time to check out. You won't be missed.
As a Brit who absolutely loves your country I am just gobsmacked😕🤷♂️ I just can’t fathom how so many of your fellow countrymen and women can possibly think he is the best option. I’m so scared for the future for Americans and the rest of the world. God help us all, we’re gonna need it 😢
Me too. Lot of people don't want to vote for a women, especially a mixed race woman. Prices were higher at grocery store, so the blamed Biden and Harris (as a VP) and voted for Trump. I'm just sick.
@@NancyfromIllinois people didn’t want to vote for Kamala because she is useless and the people knew it, that’s why she lost, change is coming😂

With a beautiful positive message . I’m not feeling so positive today but it was nice to hear how others are going to roll up the sleeves to keep up the good fight
The popular vote doesn't make sense.
What about Ivanka's voting machines? Nobody is talking about that.
I am sorry, but US people voted for him, it's not the electoral college this time.
US decided that he's the best.
People refused to vote for a woman it's that simple and white women cotes overwhelming for their own enslavement.
They believed Trumps lies about the economy, believed they were better off under Trump, and believed the lies about the inflation.
I know I'm supposed to try and not be doom and gloom, but therenia is not way out of this, 2016 to 2020 was fighting a rear guard action and trying desperately not to be destroyed only for people to forget in 4 years the nightmare we forced ourself out of, simply becase the dems ran a woman again.

@sammiejean it has to be something like that. It makes no sense otherwise.
I’m heartbroken. This isn’t going to just affect the US. I’m in Canada, and I’m still terrified.
I’m so sorry our country let you and the rest of the world down. Those of us who know the ramifications are devastated.
I live near the border, and moving to Canada might be an option. But then I remember that your country seems to be sliding down the same rabbit hole with Doug Ford. So moving up north does not seem like a viable solution.
@@neveklund3267It's not just Ford/province of Ontario - it's the other conservative led provinces as well, beating down what's left of the middle class and our vulnerable peoples.
Canada overall has been doing a serious backslide for almost a decade. Things aren't so great here as people think. We're not the polite, agreeable country others have always assumed. And when, not if, the federal Conservative party is elected into power (probably an election next year), we're really in for a world of pain.
Same. Things trickle up as we've seen before. The anxiety is real... 😔
Well, Canadians will always be welcome in the Netherlands.

I'm incredulous and absolutely devastated, and I'm only a Norwegian. I really just lack the words to describe the turmoil of emotions filling me, and to know that all the decent and sane people in the US are feeling _even_ worse. 😑
There's something that doesn't add up. Are we really to believe that creature has gotten _more_ popular instead of less...!?
Something feels off.
I feel so bad for all the good people who worked so hard and diligently to get Harris and Walz elected, and for Kamala and Tim themselves.
All I can say is that I wish you all (and my boyfriend is one of you) much light, love, and strength.
Brainwashed by the media to keep trump in power because they want to cover the drama he creates
He cheated. I agree with you.
As someone who lives in FL and has to deal with these people, yeah he has gotten more popular over the years here. I was very much hoping it was due to population migration and MAGA centralizing in FL. That appears to have been a false hope though considering some of the other races.
Good, good, maybe it is Europe's chance to free itself from US occupation!
If nothing else, this is a sign that we in Europe need to find our own path as US interests diverge from our own. I know Norway isn't in the EU, but is part of it's economic zone and NATO.
I’ve lost all faith in my nation. Now all I can do keep my head down and protect my family.

@AA-BB the last time a far-right xenophobic party took over a world power, we fought them. Now we are them. The deportation won’t end at illegals. Or deportation.
How are you going to do that. The dems want your guns 😂
@jeffbass1575 you think liberals aren’t armed? You fall for the right wings hyperbolic rhetoric and think that “common sense gun control” means they want a ban, and to take your guns away.
I believe in gun control. I don’t think anyone needs a semi automatic rifle that only has a use in clearing a room of hostiles. Doesn’t mean I don’t have a sidearm, or a shotgun, or a bolt action.
I'm not worried about him. I'm worried about all the people he's going to put into power and what they're going to do and I'm worried about the fact that he's not going to leave and there won't be another election

If he does that I think we will see how much of the "our guns protect us from the government" rethoric will be followed up with action. That's the only thing the 2nd Amendment is supposedly good for, so lets see if people who are so pro gun will react if it comes to this.

A bumpy ride is an understatement. 😢😢😢
Remember Putins words. Its not who votes, its who counts the votes that matter. Do you really think conservatives would honor their oaths? They haven't in the past.
Putin didn't originate this quote.
Stalin once said something that approx. translates to:
"I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how."
But there are versions of this quote that go all the way back to the mid-1800s and have been attributed to everyone from Napoleon to Anastasio Somoza.
The US voting system is distributed for a reason. That reason is that it limits the scope of impact of compromise. As we move forward, one of the fights we'll likely need to have, is to make sure it stays distributed.
