One of these days I'll have to enter a project. On the other hand, I would probably make a bad choice in source material such as Edgar Winter's "They Only Come out at Night"
Ok, so I think you both just signed up for next year. Reserve your cover at makersrock.com. If I don't see your names on the list in a couple weeks, I'll add them for you. ;)
Hey there Steve, sorry late to the video(I think that is an understatement, lol). Excellent quality produce, man I like them both but the cherry 🍒 wood one is awesome. All the best mate, from Scotland.
I guess I discovered this video 8 months to late, so no chance of winning those amazing album covers. You have a great taste in music. Not only my favourite band, but you listed up my favourite albums too! I discovered Rush in 1978 through a Canadian schoolmate. My first album was indeed 2112, and I was hooked for life! I got the Retrospective I in my CD player in my car just now. I've just started with scrolling and have not done any big projects yet, just training on my Hegner Multicut 1 that I got cheaply. Actually I got two of them, The first, a 1996 model I got for about $300, then I saw a 1994 model, hardly used for about $150, I had to buy it. I'll keep the older one and sell the other. This album cover have to be one of my projects some time in the future. Thank you for the video and giving me a great idea!
Hey, those are some good deals on those saws. Rush is one of my favorite bands. Glad I went to see them on one of their more recent tours. It was a great show. I like their sense of humor. It's pretty easy to cut out the 2112 cover. Email me at thecarmichaelworkshop@gmail.com when you are ready and I will send you the cutting template I drew.
Thank you Manuel! I used a #3 skip tooth blade. I think having the wider gap helped with the letters fitting ok. A thinner blade would have a smaller kerf, but might not fit as well.
Well that earned a new subscriber... I'm looking forward to meeting your back catalog! My workshop is getting it's own background starman from Rush this weekend so your timing is perfect inspiration!
Very nice... You have an amazing touch with that scroll saw! I wonder what the maple would look like with a dark stain... Btw this is the #2 rush vinyl for me.. moving pictures is always first
Nice work Steve! I like the cherry with maple letters (I think most people do). I loved the technique with the washers. When you first started describing it, I was thinking it would be hard to hold up the letters individually... but doing it upside down and holding up the background and allowing the letters to fall to their final heights is brilliant!
Those turned out great. I prefer the cherry background with the maple letters. I had never thought to put my scroll saw at an angle to make working on it easier. Thank for the idea.
Thanks Ray! I find it relaxing much more quiet than using other tools. I like that you can start with a board and end up with a finished project just with the scroll saw.
Hi Luke! I grabbed the album cover off google images, then used photoshop to convert it to black and white and deleted everything but the outlines I needed. Then I imported that image into Word and sized it and printed it.
Steve, Another cool project!! Both look good. Can’t make up my mind on which looks better (haha). Doubling up for one cutting process worked great and I like your offset method!
Hi Mac! Thanks! I really liked ending up with two covers at the same time. It usually takes a while for me to get around to making another one for myself.
Beautiful! I like both of them - great project, Steve :)
Hey John! Thanks man!
How can you not love this guy and his energy? 🙂
Aww, thanks!
No love for Hemispheres? Sadness...
Dude!! That's really cool. You're a talented individual. Rush is also my favorite band 👍✌️😀
Thanks Dan! I've always liked Rush and finally got to see them live. Incredible what those 3 guys can do.
They look great! I prefer the cherry background with maple characters.
Thanks! Yes, I do like the cherry one too.
I like how you did the raised letters. The Cherry background with maple letters is my fav.
One of these days I'll have to enter a project. On the other hand, I would probably make a bad choice in source material such as Edgar Winter's "They Only Come out at Night"
I've often thought that I should do "The Beatles"... aka the "White Album"... lol

Very col Steve. I like the dark background with Maple lettering.
Rock on Steve! The both came out great. I think I favor the darker background more.
Hey, thanks! Hope you are doing well over there.
should have played the album as your background music! ✌🏻
Great Video Steve ! Great Project And Great Tribute To Neil !
Thanks man!
Like both. Probably Maple background. Good choice of band and cover. Next year try Aqualung :-) RIP Neil.
Thanks! Aqualung would be cool ...to carve out that man out of wood. You should do that with us next year!
Very well done. They look fantastic.
Thanks Gene!

Rush is my favorite band. Tom Sawyer, favorite song. Followed closely by Red Barchetta
Cool! Yes, one of my favorites too. I'm an 80s Van Halen party rock kinda guy.
Great job and amazing scrowllsaw skills. I would like to know what size blade you used. Thank you for sharing Steve.
Thank you Manuel! I used a #3 skip tooth blade. I think having the wider gap helped with the letters fitting ok. A thinner blade would have a smaller kerf, but might not fit as well.
Awesome work Steve! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 Great idea cutting the two contrasting woods together!
Thanks Fred! Yes, it usually takes me a few months to make myself another one after the giveaway, so this kind of eliminated that problem.
Well that earned a new subscriber... I'm looking forward to meeting your back catalog! My workshop is getting it's own background starman from Rush this weekend so your timing is perfect inspiration!
Hi Mark! Thanks for watching and subscribing. The background starman sounds interesting.
I like cherry background with the maple raised letters, numbers, and logo the best.
Great job, Steve !! They both look good !
Hi Dave! Thanks! Yeah I like the cherry one too.
Very nice... You have an amazing touch with that scroll saw! I wonder what the maple would look like with a dark stain... Btw this is the #2 rush vinyl for me.. moving pictures is always first
Thanks Jim! It would look good with any color stain. I think a cherry sunburst would be awesome!

Hey Troy - Yep, I was going to use walnut but didn't have any good flat pieces. I was worried the cherry wouldn't contrast enough but it looks good.
Awesome.....hard decision but the darker one...... also will take the evh tool box lol
Ha ha, you'll have to make your own EVH tool box, but enter to win your choice of the darker one.
I keep going back and forth. Now I think I like the cherry background.
Hey Brian! I like the cherry too. It looks really nice.
Long time-no hear. Good to see you up and creating.
Those turned out great. I prefer the cherry background with the maple letters. I had never thought to put my scroll saw at an angle to make working on it easier. Thank for the idea.
Thanks! Yes, having the saw at an angle is much easier on the neck and back. All the folks in our woodworking club have their saws tilted.
This is awesome!!! I subed back!!
Good to see you in the shop again Steve. I hope all is well. I like the maple background best.
Hey, good to be back. I've been making stuff and recording but not editing videos. Have a few 'in the can' to work on.
Looks amazing, you have inspired me now need a scroll saw 😂
Thanks Ray! I find it relaxing much more quiet than using other tools. I like that you can start with a board and end up with a finished project just with the scroll saw.
Nice work!! They both came out looking great!!
Thank you very much!
I'm Canadian so I have heard of Rush...lol
Ha, yes I am sure you have. And Triumph and April Wine.
Like that you said musicians AND drummers!
Ha, I wondered if anyone would mention that. lol
Very cool mate, are you a DIO fan as well 🤘🤘🤘
Yes! Love Holy Diver, Rainbow in the Dark, and Last In Line. Great album covers too.
Turned out great! How did you make the template?
Hi Luke! I grabbed the album cover off google images, then used photoshop to convert it to black and white and deleted everything but the outlines I needed. Then I imported that image into Word and sized it and printed it.
Both look very nice I would be happy with ether
Thanks! It was neat making two at once.
Both look SWEET!!! I like the cherry better!!
Thanks Chris. Me too!
Stunning Steve as always and fun too.xx
Thank you Karen!
Love rush. Under rated band imo.
Yeah, I know what you mean. They have an interesting and unique fan base with a lot of musicians.
Very nice Mr. Carmichael.
Hi David! Thanks!

That's awesome Steve. You are really good with that scroll saw! The cherry background with maple characters looks terrific!!
Thanks Tommy!
Awesome, Steve! I can’t decide which I like better! They’re both awesome!
Thanks Matt! \m/ \m/
Great work, Steve!
Thanks!
Like them both!! Great work!!
Thanks Shaun
very good 👍💯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Thank you Giovanni!
Awesome job Steve!!!!! I was shocked about Neil passing way to young.
Thanks Thom! I know, everyone I've talked to about it was surprised they were able to keep it under wraps.
I want to win!
Thanks Brian!
I hadn't heard this about this album until I read about it in Ready Player One and loved it! Between the two, I prefer the cherry w/ maple letters.
After I got Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves in the 80s, I had to go back and get their earlier ones.
Very cool!
Thanks!
Nice job Steve!
Thanks Jim!
Another fine job 👍
Thanks!
Very Nice
Thanks!
Both look great!
Thanks Leigh!
Looks good Steve. I like the cherry with maple letters the best.
Thanks Jim! Yep, the cherry one is a hit!
That's awesome Steve!!!
Hey Johnny! Thanks for watching man!
Great build! You are really good with that scroll saw!
Thanks! I really enjoy using it.
I really like the darker wood with lighter letters. Great scroll saw work!
Thank you Howard!
Rock on 🤘🏻
Forgot to mention the dark background on right was my favorite as I could read the characters better.
Thanks Daniel! Yeah, I like that one better too. That's the one the winner chose as well.
