    It worked :D
    After you're done with the striker, fold it lengthwise, put it on a sink faucet with the cold water running, light the striker, and if you wipe off the residue with your index finger, and rub it against your thumb, it makes smoke.

    I watched your vid and made one of these like 5 years ago. Well I found it the other day and tried it.. worked like a charm.
    Of all the improvised fuses ive seen, this one is one of the best ones.

    I found this video a few years back and made some. They worked like a charm. I used them to light a fire in my burn pit. Not a bad bit of improvising, adapting, and overcoming.

    Very good MacGuyverism! Also a great job on the creation of the video with the ready made progressions of the piece. So many videos require fast forwarding to keep from watching all of the assembly or extraneous footage. Thanks for a great and safety DIY clip...Aloha.

    Perfectly executed video. Thank you for having a sample set up for eachstep so that I didn't have to sit here for an hour and watch you roll tape around.

    Safeway makes both matches AND icecream? I bought both, and the matches taste better.

  • @forresttrenaman
    @forresttrenaman  15 років тому +1

    if you are talking about scotch tape, it might work but it is a lot stiffer and dose not "shape'' as well around the match heads as masking tape dose, and it wouldn't look as good.

    so simple yet ingenious! perfect use of improvised materials, many ways to alter and add ingredients to the design to maximize performance, if this was your original idea you get props for that, can't wait to see more of your videos

    remember how the clip is attached to the match striker witch is held tightly against the match heads by the rubber band, so when you pull the ring it pulls the striker along the match heads which lignite's them.

    Nice tutorial, well done. It was clear, concise and an all round good video.
    The idea is good, I like it.
    I won't be making it myself I have an electronic ignition system but for those into fireworks who don't or anyone into smoke bomb ignition for paintball/airsofting etc, this is a superb low cost and very effective ignition system.
    Bravo

    I just tried that and it works rely great, the only down side is that it is not very wind proof :(
    But still extremely use-full, I am just surprised that I have not come across this until now.
    Thanks for sharing.

    If I had time and a book of matches I would make one of my fuses, but if I needed a fuse right away I will definitely use yours, for instance there are several times when I am doing tests and need to rig up a lighter so that I don't need to be a foot away when I light the thing I am lighting, so now I will just use the masking tape fuse for that kind of stuff, but if I need a fuse that I can throw or it it's windy I will use my fuse.

    A little expensive and inefficient, BUT, This would be great for a whole slew of projects, i.e. homemade grenades. All in all, way cool dude, I wanted a way to make a homemade pull fuse but had no idea how to make one.

  • @NotQuiteLucid
    @NotQuiteLucid 14 років тому

    Instead of taping the two matches on the external part of the fuse strip, you could try stapling them on with a single staple, it might work better. Might be unnecessary though.

  • @mikerh3
    @mikerh3 15 років тому

    not saying your idea isn't good , it's friggin' awsome but instead of using tape for holding the 2 top matches , i use a couple dabs of hot glue on each , works like a charm and 10 out of 10 worked perfectly , i got the hot glue gun and 5 sticks for 2$ at a buck or two store. thanks again for the perfect fuse.

    @smokeyjoeiscool yes i'm kind of a pyro myself and im using this to make a smoke grenade and masking tape because it burns REALLY WELL, also it won't stop the fuse, however if you were to use duct tape or something the fuse would stop, believe me i've tried it.

    Pyrotechnician or pyromaniac? Now I can finish my hand made battery smoke bomb. I found that using alkaline batteries as explosives create a bright blue flare if you manage to heat it up long enough. This fuse seems to get the job done though.
