He's talking about the unregulated gambling where minors can gamble, where they don't check if you can gamble that much and that it is a real addiction that you get easily when you are a minor
licensed gambling ain't much more ethical than unlicensed. We use the word licensed and regulated to somehow convince ourselves its inherently okay, but it's still excessively predatory. You can literally get banned from casinos, at least in the US, for counting cards, which isn't cheating! Just means you got a good memory and understand probability and the casino will be like, "no, that's unfair." Gambling, not even amongst children, but amongst adults is often considered the most lethal addiction simply because of suicide
ohne plays a big part in getting kids addicted to unregulated gambling. Not as in shady gambling websites, but cs:go cases, which is also unregulated. Any kid can buy a paysafecard from the gas station and gamble away their pocket money. I have no idea why he reacted to this since he should feel called out aswell
@@shrek1onDVD Licensed casinos undergo oversight, ensuring fairness, player protection, and responsible gambling. They're accountable to regulations, offer dispute resolution, and contribute to local economies. Unlicensed casinos lack these safeguards, making licensed ones more ethical and responsible choices. These are all points mentioned in the video. No matter how lucky you are (or unlucky) we have to remember that casinos naturally operate to generate revenue. Practices like banning people for counting cards all comes down to local laws for private companies. If you don't agree with these practices then you shouldn't be gambling in that casino in the first place. This is something I would consider the customers responsibility, as such practices would be stated in a Terms of Service clause.
If it involves any sort of real world currency to acquire than it should be considered gambling. The second money is involved that's when people get in trouble. If CS Cases were self contained with case currency being acquired through gameplay alone with the only money needed being the set price of the game then the problem would squarely fall on the third party sites but valve charges you real money for a chance at something, that sounds like the classic definition of gambling.
The best way to open cases is by quick opening them and not letting the slot machine visual play as that thing is not just a harmless visual. It causes the "near miss effect" (UC Berkley published a paper titled The Psychology of the Near Miss), which can lead to a gambling addiction. I don't think ohne has a gambling addiction, and I know that with the case openings he does, he is gambling what he can afford. But, chatters might look at his openings and be temped to open cases, and who knows what their financial status is like.
For cards to be considered gambling you have to be opening them with the intention of pulling a nice card. Reason i say this is if your actually playing the card game then your looking for good cards wether they are worth a lot or not.
Couldnt you say the same for skins? I have dozens of safari mesh AWPs, I nought them because I find value in them even though they are worthless. Skin value isnt the sole reason for opening capsules etc, some people want to get anything they feel looks cool, not only something valuable
@@josephbuckreis3212 as you said you "bought" the skins, that's not gambling, and while im sure some people just open cases for some cool cosmetics, there's still a loooot of people that do it hoping to get something worth money

The fact that we all automatically by simply having access to the internet, whether by phone or computer, means we all have slot machines in our house and in our pockets at all times is wild, you don't even have to go to the casino anymore. Why ban online gambling but not irl gambling. That then defeats the point of getting rid of gambling. I think gambling is perfectly ok because if someone’s pays and takes that risk then they are liable for whatever outcome they get. When someone hits the pay button on a case for example that means that you have accepted that you will get something you like or you won’t. That’s why it’s a risk. But make no misstake, constantly uploading videos of yourself rolling the CSGO-slotmachine and your dopamine fuled reaction when winning, is for sure contributing to gambling addiciton, regardsless of your reasons for doing it. @depecher6s311 agreed, but a lot of these issues are due to parenting. It's almost like parents have no idea what their kids are playing. (Until they get their credit card bill) I remember being grounded as a kid for playing Mortal Kombat.
@@chandude3no it absolutely is not. Parents have some level of responsibility, but the vast majority do not even know what CS is, and if they knew the gambling mechanics behind it, they would never let their children play it. But because the gameplay itself is completely normal for a shooter and the gambling aspect is (in a way) hidden unless you get deep into it, it’s impossible for parents to find out. Yes, CS is obviously a game made for adults, but companies that make these type of games must be aware that there’s no verification to stop underage players, so the possibility of underage gambling must be known. Even excluding the underage aspect, the game itself, like the interviewees were saying, is a ‘gateway drug’ for online CS casinos.
Yes, there is self-exclusion from Trading, as in, Crypto/Futures trading. Anything that involves margin and you are deemed a "retail client", will be monitored on your deposits and losses. Considerable or consistent losses incurs contact from your exchange/broker. For any of the conventional market brokers, at least in the UK, will be like this. For Crypto exchanges, that want to comply with UK FCA laws; they will need to do the same. I do know Binance (the biggest crypto exchange) have self exclusion options.
Gambling just isnt for me. I enjoy once a month at most, but I go into it with cash I am willing to lose. CS skins is another gravy. They are gambling regardless. I think the only potential loop hole is the fact you never actually get "cash" withdrawn. Its all kept within Steam; this seems like a viable argument if any action was brought towards Valve.

just sayin game devs can do everything in the game technically. so if they wanted to do smthn about this, they would have. but its to much money to refuse 🤷
What about parents being able to prevent this whole thing by adding parental controll and a code when the child buys shit and on top of that the parent gets a email everytime something is refunded or bought so at the end of it its ALL on the parents they can controll ALL of it if they pay attention to what content their child is consuming
I mean yes, i do gamble pretty regularly. But never have i seen it as a problem even though i have used quite a bit of money. Since every time i have put x amount of money on a gambling site i have only deposited as much as i can afford to lose and not causing a problem. Ive won some but also lost some. The adrenaline is not worth going all in with your life savings lol.
csgo cases aren't considered gamling because you can't sell items for "REAL" money if you sell them on 3rd party sites for real money that is considered anti TOS and steam balance even though representing real money isn't considered as such because it isn't withdrawable "no you buying a steam deck and selling it isn't withdrawal"
That's a loophole for valve, store credit is absolutely real world currency that is only allowed to stay within that stores marketplace/ecosystem. Doesn't make it any less real. Those credits allow you to buy things on steam, hence it's real money. It only hurts people to think otherwise. I'm talking about video game companies in general with this next statement, but the fact we've allowed companies to literally create their own currencies is straight up wild. Robux, V-bucks, whatever R6 siege money is called. It's insane. They wouldn't be allowed to print their own physical currency, but since it's digital it's somehow okay? Literally makes no sense especially when many of us ain't even use cash anymore and are using debit or credit cards, essentially just digital money
This was discussed, either in this video or the first part (I don't recall). In some countries, regardless of whether or not the platform (Valve, in this case) says that it is allowed or not allowed to cash out, if a way to do IS readily available, then that fulfills that requirement to be considered gambling. TLDR: Valve saying cashing out isn't allowed doesn't necessarily mean it's not gambling.
Its not valves fault that skins are worth so much it the community. Since it is a free market with demand driving cost. Valve know that the skins now are worth a crazy amount of money with a sticker costing 80k. How can they stop that. Removing Trading. That would make no sense. Also doing that would ruin a lot of people who use the counterstrike market as a ligitment stream of income. The gambling is bad, many games have loot boxes that cost money, but no way to sell thoses items such as in overwatch 1 so item are at a stuck price and no way to sell the skins besides accounting. Games like fortnite have a similar issue but a lot less as you can sell your acount but not your skins.
But what do you expect from a game that’s FREE TO PLAY, tbh cs is doing better then 9/10 other games, best majors, best active community and the cases saved cs so much and made a lot of smart and lucky people rich. You can see the steam market just like bitcoin or other coins/infest

I think the only potential loop hole is the fact you never actually get "cash" withdrawn. Its all kept within Steam; this seems like a viable argument if any action was brought towards Valve.
Alot of people use 3rd party website for just selling skins which I would use if I got like a 30+ euro skins just so I can actually get the money
chucky cheese lol
i guess u can call Ohne as more of a *collectro* than a *gambler*
though i open stickers only coz its cheap lolz im broke, also u can just use free weekly case sell it an reuse the money to open stickers xD
if smone sell case, it means, that smone another will open it
Normalizing something really is scary especially when that thing is detrimental to your long term health. Masturbation for example is so normal that almost most of the world is doing it despite the glaring issues it causes but because its normal, people dont think about it.
just sayin game devs can do everything in the game technically. so if they wanted to do smthn about this, they would have. but its to much money to refuse 🤷
I don't like how he keeps trying to justify his gambling addiction
he IS addicted LMAO
Omg you are so oblivious
It’s too late now
After finishing this video I opened a case, first one in 2+ years. AK bloodsport MW. EZ Clap
What about parents being able to prevent this whole thing by adding parental controll and a code when the child buys shit and on top of that the parent gets a email everytime something is refunded or bought so at the end of it its ALL on the parents they can controll ALL of it if they pay attention to what content their child is consuming
I mean by 15 all that usually stops if they did it in the first place not a lot of parents are gonna take away freedom from their 15-17 year old
I mean yes, i do gamble pretty regularly. But never have i seen it as a problem even though i have used quite a bit of money. Since every time i have put x amount of money on a gambling site i have only deposited as much as i can afford to lose and not causing a problem. Ive won some but also lost some. The adrenaline is not worth going all in with your life savings lol.
hypocrisy
csgo cases aren't considered gamling because you can't sell items for "REAL" money if you sell them on 3rd party sites for real money that is considered anti TOS and steam balance even though representing real money isn't considered as such because it isn't withdrawable "no you buying a steam deck and selling it isn't withdrawal"
i feel this is kinda a loophole for valve to keep cases in csgo. would anyone open cases if you couldnt sell them for real money?
@@bonboklagecodwarriorthey would but a lot less would be openeded just like most games with loot boxes
@@shrek1onDVD yeah, i actualy havent thought of how fcked that is, good point
And why does the skins are worth so much?
Who created the demand?
But what do you expect from a game that’s FREE TO PLAY, tbh cs is doing better then 9/10 other games, best majors, best active community and the cases saved cs so much and made a lot of smart and lucky people rich. You can see the steam market just like bitcoin or other coins/infest
Holy cope what is this naivety. Use your brain

@unconsistentone5385 dont watch ?
You mean when you gamble you lose money? Bro no way 🤯🤯🤯🤯
My view: let people who make their own money do what they want with it.
so let people be exploited because the made their own money? re tar d take
@@ratwhocankickflip What other people do with their money is of no concern to me. If you are old enough to have a job, but stupid enough to spend thousands of dollars on pixels when you can’t afford it; then it’s on you.
@@evocati_ you could use this re tar d take on literally anything, do you have problems with alcohol? Its your fault and entirely your fault only! No the bar shouldn't do anything its your fault! Wtf are you? 14? 15? C'mon, wake up, if you dont care about other people just remember that if someday you end up in a similar situation, the others could think the same about you.
This has to be the dumbest take I have seen this year. That is the same thing as if the police would tell you that it is your problem if your house is being robbed because you bought it with your money
brother we are talking about minors
people seem to always forget that CS is an M rated game, aka 18+ so who tf cares
LOL this stopped kids from playing cod, right? I can tell you're not a parent.
@@robinP_P it's a parental issue kiddo, don't let your child have your cc info to gamble on cases like any parent with literally half a brain. So I'd you are a parent, may this world have mercy on them. They'll likely grow up to be just as special as you
@@robinP_P Dont let your kids have your cc to do online gambling, or keep them off video games kiddo. Maybe try using at least half of your brain next time.

the point is that WATCHING this will normalize it. you're a huge part of the problem because like a child you cover your ears up and go "LALALALALA" when points are being made all because of your own trash preconceived notions about "how the world works" when you're 100% sub 25 y/o.
Cases aint gambling since you always get something back and that's why they wont stop with it.
You have to make a line somewhere and if you say cases are gambling then so many products in the world get banned, like surprise eggs but even card boosters etc.
28:06 that's just plain wrong, yes valve is basically rewarding you, but not with a discount to open it, BECAUSE of their market you could just sell it and buy a game or accumulate and buy some hardware.
And kids don't work so they can't have any money, if their parents give them money then they should monitor what they spent it on.
That is bullshit. Cases by definition are gambling. You’re putting in a monetary investment with the option of either making money or losing money completely by chance. There’s no strategy behind it, or ways to get back your losses except by gambling more.
Bro if this guys ruins gambling in gonna be pissed ong. Not my fault kids hop on this game and gamble monitor them. And its not my fault people have no self control. I've actually profited off of my skins so screw u for tryna ruin it bc of the mentally challenged. I advocate for regulation Online gambling regulations should be established across the board and drop rates should be verified and monitored.
That is also what he is saying too. Much of what Jeff has mentioned is the fact that it's mostly not regulated and has caused issues for people that they would have more resources to stop a problem that right now doesn't exist. If it was regulated these videos wouldn't have even come out because Jeff said he was finally going to consider taking a gambling sponsor but then it opened up this wormhole of unregulated and misleading websites. Also plenty of people believe they are up that aren't up. I never really had a problem with it but I believed I was up because of some skins I've won but when I looked back I was like just under even (less than $10)

The game is rated M, for mature. Children shouldn’t have the fucking game, its 100% the parents fault.
angerly missing the point because he made $200 bucks despite this video showing its literally ruining peoples lives. you should go work for a tobacco company.
