Great video. I noticed you have an Ogami sketchbook, these are very good for a portable silver-point solution. The pages are very delicate and are very smooth, no more priming sketchbooks.
Thanks for sharing this fascinating subject. Although preparing the surface for silverpoint metals (during the presentation) was briefly described , there is no mention, during the curriculum review that surface preparation is covered in the course, which would be, I should think , a main interest for potential students.
Its such a beautifull technique and in spite of the fact that its a demanding technique it is also a very beautifull and attractive technique. Thank you very much for sharing here 🎶❤️🎵
I agree! Graphite looks flat while silverpoint looks alive. It must just be the way the light reflects off the metal, but it seems to make a big difference.
would you say that there is a distinct difference between how drawing feels with these different tools as well? compared to silver, the gold also looked like it also glided on smoother. do you notice a difference in line quality for each material also?
The drawing at 5:20 is the "Cephalus carried off by Aurora in her Chariot" by Agostino Carracci, about 1597. It is part of the collection, but not on display in the National Gallery, London

@@DrawingArtAcademy I have one from Cretacolor, that is pretty hard and erases pretty well but I do not know the material. Does not seem to be lead, since it is very hard and I doubt the German regulations would allow the production of these. But I am still interested in the material, because If it was lead, I would not continue to use it.
I just subscribe for watch this demo. Once that I`m not interest in be an architect but for a oil painting and drawing techniques. My goals in artistic way are to paint. I` m happy in front of my easel !

I love the delicate ghostly effect. Is fascinating, mysterious, and at the same time elegant. Beautifully well drawn
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for explaining everything so thoroughly, as well as the art history lesson!
My pleasure!
I particularly love how the silver tarnishes thus changing the character of the drawing over time.
Thank you for this excellent presentation with perfectly-paced information and fantastic visuals!

Whau goldpoint sounds attractive in spite of the Price. Cupper also looks so beautifull.Yellowish-greenish with time 💚

Where did you find a sketchbook that is prepared for silverpoint drawing, as you demonstrate in your film ?
Good question, I am wandering as well
It's interesting. Realism almost looks more real in silverpoint than it does graphite.
I agree! Graphite looks flat while silverpoint looks alive. It must just be the way the light reflects off the metal, but it seems to make a big difference.
The end is what a compilation (blueprint) of the things artists should know.
I used plaster dust as a ground.... it works.
Fabulous! Thank you so very much for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a nice painting.
How necessary is it to prepare a surface? I was just wondering if a rough textured paper would be sufficient.
The paper surface is too soft; your need some abrasive ground
would you say that there is a distinct difference between how drawing feels with these different tools as well? compared to silver, the gold also looked like it also glided on smoother. do you notice a difference in line quality for each material also?
The difference is subtle. Gold-point looks grey, a bit lighter than silver-point
Sería bueno que hubiera la posibilidad de una traducción al español. Gracias.
Excellent. Thanks.
very informative, thank you for posting this video
Awesome vidio mate! Realy helped me and a lot of others!
Interesting, Thank you.
Together with the powdered chalk and the white tempera, I must necessarily use the gum arabic binder?
Glue in tempera might not be enough to bind additional chalk powder; that is why gum arabic or other suitable binder can be added
Thank you so much for this presentation, perfectly explained It’s and invitation for learning drawing.

Can you use this techniques on regular paper or do you need to prepare the surface?
you need to have a specially prepared surface. There are some ready-made papers though that take metal point readily
@@DrawingArtAcademy I didn't find any Silverpoint paper, how can prepare my own?
I like to enroll to this drawing curse, do I will have the video lessons for more than three months?, so I can watch them in my on time

Are there erasable alternatives to lead?
Any metal-point would be difficult to erase. Simply use graphite for that purpose
