Recently put on my front hood protector...after first getting it out of the box, I " dry fitted to the hood " and then took a 3" x 5" piece of cardboard and put it at each end of the shield in the gap. Now it can't go past that ! Keeps it perfectly centered. Now you only focus on the bottom edge when permanently applying the shield. You have only ONE time to put it on..no moving it ! It won't! .. Mine turned out PERFECT ! .. Thank you for the video.. Great Job ! ..😊
I have a velocity blue hybrid xlt maverick I just got on 10-15-22 ordered it on 9-9-21. But I really like the color I have a roll up cover and a bed mat and a tailgate cover and used my points from buying my maverick to get my bug shield also but I had ford install it I new I would mess it up lol 😆 but it all looks good I got 4500 miles on it yes that is a lot but it just drives really nice all around great little truck thanks for sharing and in joy you maverick.
I ordered a 2022 in Velocity Blue, but when my order was rolled over to 2023, that color was no longer available. I went for Atlas Blue and I'm Ok with it, but I like the brighter Velocity better. So far, I've used my points on tailgate letters and the roadside assistance kit. I bought an aftermarket rubber mat and set of mudflaps before I even had the truck, so I still have points left. There is a 15% discount code for the month of March and you bet I used it.
I noticed they were removing the Velocity Blue for the 2023 year. I really like it, I love black on cars and trucks but wanted something different for the Maverick.
I noticed in my new Maverick that each groove in the bed (painted steel no liner) has a hole drilled for drainage at the front end of the bed, which is the direction the bed floor is sloped. Kind of surprised none of the tailgate mats I've seen have such holes in them for drainage, and I also wonder if the spray in bed liner clogs these small holes creating water pooling in the bed. Theoretically if these holes are clear, nothing sitting flat on the bed floor should get soaked, as any water in the bed will go down the grooves and drain out.
I've never heard of using glycerin. I know the citrus smelling stuff would remove the bond with the tape, but after having it on a couple of weeks, I don't even notice it being slightly uneven any longer. Guess my OCD wasn't as bad as I thought. 🙂
Love that color blue under the lights. Is that the Atlas Blue? Looks fantastic. That fitment for that tailgate isn't very good. I wonder if there is anything they can do at the dealer to adjust that tailgate to address that gap. That looks pretty excessive.
The color is what Ford calls Velocity Blue. I debated about the color but I'm glad I settled on blue, I decided early on not to get black, gray, or white. I love black cars, but there are so many on the road now, the blue is something different. I am not sure what could be done at the dealership to help with the tailgate but I've got some ideas to try once I get a bit more time. Retirement is hectic! Thanks for watching and commenting.
That's one idea I have. I don't think it is an alignment issue as the tailgate itself closes perfectly. I think weather stripping like you buy at the hardware store might work, or maybe find some car door weather stripping and see if it will fit around the perimeter of the bed opening. I'm hoping to get some time to look at it more in depth soon, retirement has been keeping me very busy. 🙂
@@meandmymaverick Amazon has Tailgate Weather stripping for the F150. I picked up some right after watching your video. Was like 30 bucks. I figured if it is enough for the F150 surely there is plenty for the Maverick.
I had trouble because I was using my phone Gmail app browser, having the phone open the email in a web page on my normal browser fixed the errors that I was getting when activating the fordpass account
I broke down and went to the doctor so I'm almost 100% now. The Maverick is still in high demand. Our local Ford dealer has dozens of F150s now along with a lot of Escapes and Explorers, but not Mavericks and the Rangers that do show up, usually disappear in a few days. I suspect people that order Mavericks are diehard about getting their truck so they don't back out of the order and none appear on the dealer lot. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. Like you, I'm OCD and the big takeaway here is for the best job results, don't multitask. Thanks for the demo.

What kind of mileage are you getting with your hybrid? I really wanted a hybrid but wanted the AWD more. Thanks for watching!
Any issues with salt or debris getting trapped behind it?

It looks pretty nice I hope to get a maverick in the near future.
I think you will enjoy it. I am glad I ordered it, even with the year wait. Thanks for watching.
Side note. Code have water heater on stand to get burner 18" abouve floor, but the hvac is sitting on floor?
You know if you want to pull it off you might be able to use glycerin and a plastic scraper to remove tape off paint . That what you use for hot glue.

Have you thought of using weather stripping to seal the tailgate?

@@DaBearBaloo Cool, I'll check that out. Thanks for the info.
here is a pretty good UTube video about applying tailgate weather stripping on a Mav. tail gate: ua-cam.com/video/OHqb6Ok_zhI/v-deo.html
I tred too Apply for the ford pass but they turned me down
Interesting. I was signed up for it before I even received my Maverick, I think Ford did it. Any reason why you were turned down?

This video is much too long. I thought I was watching paint dry when this guy was trying to get the sticky tape film off.
Love that color. I’m looking to get a Maverick in the near future. Hope you’re feeling better. Great video!
