- Learn how to crochet wreath Christmas ornaments! These are super simple and quick to whip up and are a great use for small scraps of yarn. They also make perfect little gifts.
What you'll need:
milk jug rings
yarn in green, white and red (or whichever colors you choose)
crochet hook
tapestry needle
The pattern I used is 32 dc's around a milk jug ring using a size 'G' crochet hook with worsted weight yarn. The white round is a series of 'V' stitches which comprise of 'sc, ch2, sc in the same stitch' all the way around. The red berries are french knots and the ornament is finished off with a yarn bow.
I made these a few years ago for my Dr's office. They either didn't lije them or not one person who works there knows how to say a simple thankyou. But I enjoyed stitching them. Yoyr instructions are very clear
You've made me so happy! My mother (who passed away a few years ago) made these and they were around our home at Christmas every year. I've finally taken up Crocheting and she is no longer here to teach me. She's smiling down from Heaven as I made my first one. LOVE the milk carton ring- so simple and free! Thanks again and Merry Christmas :)
Very nice 👌👍hope you do more Christmas tree stuff 😀
Cyndi, I just took up crocheting as well, teaching myself with the help of books and youtube. I lost my mom on 3/28/22 and she made us dish rags every year for Christmas. That is what I started with. I've moved on to other things and was happy to find these cute ornaments. My grandmother was an amazing crocheter. She did the tedious doilies, tablecloths, bedspreads, etc. I cherish all that I still have from her. I know they are both guiding my hands as I learn and both are smiling down on me. Happy crocheting to you!
Your voice, video n tuitorial is so clear even for a person like me for whom English is not the first language, I wish you post more tuitorials
I agree. You have a nice voice
I love these wreaths, but for me they were not an “under 10 minutes” project . It took me about an hour to make each one…even after I had made fifty of them. I loved tucking them in Christmas cards and tying onto gifts. I donated 68 of my wreaths to be placed in goodie bags for women veterans. The rest of my 102 wreaths were given to family and friends.❤
Absolutely love the ring idea from the milk jug! 🤣
Remember when six packs were held together with plastic rings. That's what we used for the wreaths. You got me going again and your video inspired me to do this fun crochet craft with you. I did get frustrated though not having enough rings. So....tonight I made a ring of 10 double crochets and joined to make a circle. Finish as usual and looks the same. Keep up the video's
Amazing. Never thought of this. So cute. Now I have something I can make for everyone in church as we only have a small number of members. I'm not a rich person, but, now I feel rich. I just found you on UA-cam and so happy. You're the best teacher ever and I love that you just get to the point and start working ! I'm going to be checking out your other videos. God bless.
Thanks! The jug ring is great idea! I made a green one and sewed autumn decorative buttons on it.. an easy mail little “happy” to go to my nursing home friend far away. I met her when I was 33 and she 63; now I am 64 and she is 94. She will love this. Thanks again!
I love these. I think I've made at least a dozen already. I don't have access to milk jug rings, so I bought key chain rings at Michael's. They are inexpensive -- about $3.00 for 28 rings. They work perfectly and come in different sizes. Thank you so much for such a quick and cute Christmas craft to make for friends.
Thank you! I never would have thought of using key rings! I actually do have some. If I can't find them, now I know where to get them!
I've made dozens of these to give out to friends this year. I love this pattern and tutorial!
I am new to the crocheting as in my younger years I always knitted. But with this Covid have needed something to put in my time. And knitting now is just not for me.So I did learn how to do the Rainbows which has been Great.Although Im still a beginner here,I found this very easy to follow.Although we here in Scotland don’t get the plastic rim around our bottles. So I used my Granddaughter’s hair band to start with. Was perfect. And very Pleased with what I had made.So carried on,but afraid all the other bands I had were softer,so result was I had to double them over to achieve the round. But have Subscribed now to your channel and hopefully will be able to do some more wee Christmas decorations. And also would appreciate any ideas from your Subscribers thanks.
@@helengray7703 I bought some plastic rings 25mm made by Hemline, available from haberdashery shops online. They come in other sizes too.
This is so pretty! No one would ever guess they are simple to make! Thank you for this great tutorial. 🙂
wonderful to put on packages too....more please!
This wreath is adorable! I made a larger one yesterday using a lid from a hummus container. I cut out the center, and I had the perfect "ring" for this. I wish I could leave a picture here. Thank you for the video!
Looks great dangling from a Xmas gifted bottle of wine .🎅
Love this video! You are an absolutely lifesaver! Months ago I emailed our local longterm care facility about possibly making ornaments for the residents but didn't get a response. Last evening, for some unknown reason, a response appeared. It had been sent shortly after mine. Since it's 24 days till Christmas I needed something fast, yet attractive and this is just the ticket...now all i have to do is find 100 rings from gallon jugs! lol Thanks so much!! Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year!
Thanks for showing us how to make the little wreath. I am using small paper cores from work to make mine. I also use the milk jug ring. Thanks again.
Love this pattern! Perfect for Christmas! Instead of milk jug rings I ordered a 50pc bag of 1in key rings off Amazon for $6. Instead of French knots I got some cute red beads for the holly berries and a bit of red ribbon for the bow. This wreath is a great base pattern that everyone can customize for their liking! Thank you ❤
What a good idea to use beads for the berries. I suppose you could even use those sew on sequins in red!
This is a lovely little wreath and so simple to make. Please put some other tree decorations up for us. Thank you.
I tried something new using this pattern. My ring was a reg size mason jar ring. Using a chunky yarn the same 32 stitches covered the ring. I then made a V ring in each stitch around. I then placed a photo into the centre using a card stock for backing support. The bit of hot glue I used to fix the photo was hidden by the ring. This is still my fav pattern or rings of all sizes. Please keep up the great tutorials.
Hi great video thanks for sharing. I started doing the same a few months ago. Except I used the plastic ring from the gallon of milk. I used red glass beads for the holly berries and a red silk ribbon for the bow. Just finishing up my leaves for my fall tree and starting on some hearts for Valentine's day tree. Back to teaching tomorrow just wanted a head start on the seasons. God bless you love your videos. 😄
I love this video tutorial. Super easy to follow. Totally novice here and I can absolutely follow this. Thank you.
I love these. I use colonial knots instead of French knots. I know what you mean about the hair, I have 2 dogs, 1 is short haired, not a problem, the other is a border collie/Siberian husky, I can't make anything without having to pull hair out of it, I even have a cup that says "Dog hair is my glitter". Thank You for sharing your Time, and Your Talent with all of us.
I just finished making 2 of the wreaths, I didn't have any rings, so I made a chain 12 long, joined it, then put 32 dc into it, and made it the rest of the way exactly as you showed. They came out very sturdy, you really don't need a ring.
I LOVE this!! So quick to work up! When I do the berries, I initially insert my needle where I want the bow and leave a long tail. Then I work the berries and bring my needle back up next to the beginning and then tie my bow...no ends to weave in!!
So excited to find this tutorial. I found another of someone doing pretty much the same thing around a bangle and someone doing one around a shower ring. I don't have any bangles and my shower rings are not round. Leave it to a frugal individual to find something that is around everyone's home. I'm so excited to start making these kind of wreath ornaments. Thank you so very much for this video.
My Aunts Mother law taught me simple crochet when I was a kid ,,, she used to make these i wondered how she did all these things ?? Since then many years have passed they've since died ,,, and bamm you tube ..,so here I am smiling 😊 thank you ! Kim - n- Carolina 🍁🍂
One of THE BEST tutorials on UA-cam! Thank you SO much. Will be making these for Christmas gifts.
THANK YOU! An easy tutorial to follow and the wreaths whipped up really quick. The french knots took awhile to get right 😝 And the bow really pulled everything together nicely!
Bravissimo ,complimenti per la realizzazione ! È la prima volta che mi capita di vedere un uomo cosi bravo a lavorare con l'uncinetto 👏👏👏👍😉
Thanks for the description it makes it easier for me to see how it's made so I can just get to work instead of watching the entire video. Bless you I'm sure grateful to u for having time and patience to make this. tutorial.
Omg just found you. THANK YOU THANK YOU for not showing every loop and movement in slo mo! You are the only one who does this right! 🥳🥳
I love working with the chunky yarns and have plenty in my stash. Can’t wait to start this!!
Glad to have found this. I make 5 to 7 gift ornaments a year. This year I am adding more recipients, so this project is perfect. Your directions are simple to follow, though I have not crocheted for a while. I will have to practice. Love that you have recycled that little piece from the mild bottle. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for a quick and easy ornament for my grandchildren's collection.
It been decades since I made those. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood
Kudos to you! I never saw the milk jug ring coming at all. This was so fun and easy. Now I have to see if you are still doing tutorials. Thank you 🥰🧶🐑🦙🐫🐐🧶🥰
I am going to make these for my daycare kids for Christmas, thank you very much for the video, I enjoyed it!
So glad your back.... love this ornament..I made so many of your snowflakes, it will be nice to something new
Where can I find your snowflake tutorial?
I love that you use the rings from the milk jug. Recycle, repurpose, reinvent. Look forward to seeing more.
Hi I loved seeing your tutorial, I had seen one other brfore but your explanation was much more detaed. I've also used other rings that are larger in size, but what I most loved wax the white trim around the wreath. Thank you for sharing.
Been missing your fun tutorials, thanks for coming back! More recipes too, please, I always trust yours to be perfect.💕
LOVE WATCHING ALL YOUR VIDEOS THANKS FOR SHARING THIS CHRISTMAS WREATH ,..I LOVE IT....
Hi, I think these little wreaths are just wonderful, !!!!! I have just done one, but I shall make more, Thank you , please do more of this sort of thing,. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow, 😊
love these! my grandmother made them for all her grandchildren and I treasure it. thanks for sharing;)
I love the vintage charm of this wreath and will use this for a swap group gift. Thank you!
This ornament is adorable and very quick...thank you much
How Fun! I'm new to crocheting...and I can make these lol Now my grandkids can have something homemade to hang from Grandma. Thank you for the post. Looking forward to the next one.
These bring back great childhood memories. Can't wait to try these with my daughter. Big thanks!
I’ve got tons of baby water gallon jugs I was getting ready to recycle, so glad I put things off til the last minute 😌
I used water bottle rings due to not having milk rings they work as well . thanks for the video
THANK YOU for returning, this CROCHET CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT just what I needed for GIFTS this YEAR, THEY ARE SO EASY TO MAKE & Friends have saved the Plastic Rings For me.
I Love these little wreaths, but I can't drink milk, so I don't have milk jug rings, but I found if I tightly chain 14, I can get 32 stitches on it, and it works quite well. This is the second video of yours u have seen, the first was the fabric pinecone, I have to tell you, I really enjoy your videos, your a very good instructor, and being an experienced crocheter, I appreciated that you didn't go slow explaining this.
Thank You for sharing your time, and your talent with all of us.
What a great tutorial, easy to follow and thank you for reminding me how to make a French knot.
Thanx! I like these are quick gifts & cute, and I save all sizes of rings off Soda, Juice, etc.
all different sizes!
Love it, That You as a Man, crochets! Awesome!!......My Uncle also crocheted, helps with Stress levels.
; )
God Bless & Vaya con Dios.
I had found these years ago, in a magazine. I will not be using rings off bottles as I don't want to destroy my nails. I had made dozens of them as I decorated crochet slippers, Christmas gifts and of course some or the tree. Let's see if I can find some of those rings I'd used, plastic curtain rings, I believe. Those were the days, how I miss them.
I made this and I used ponytails for the ring. Fun and easy project. I made a bunch of these to give out at our cookie exchange
Thanks for sharing the video. It was easy to follow🙏🏻 .I made it for my friend as a gift😊 🎁
Your tutorial was simple and easy to follow. Great ornament gifts to give. Thank you!
Thank you for pattern - I made 50 for a craft fair for our local elementary school - sold for class trip - also your chicken pot pie best ever!!
love this! I will make lots and pn 3 at the door of my nipa hut! thank you so much for showing me how
This was really great, quick and easy, but very smart and a thoughtful gift
Love these ! I’m doing a craft fair and didn’t really have anything “christmas-y” so I whipped up a bunch of these, so simple and cute !! Thank you so much !!
Btw I used water bottle rings, still got 32 DC to fit 😉
@@cenelson6484 What would be a reasonable price to charge for these at a craft fair ??
@@Pylotsyf I sold them for $5, only sold a couple. So I'd say $2-$3 . Happy crocheting !
I just wanted you to know that I have made several of your crochet wreaths and shared you video with a number of people. I really like listening to you do the tutorial and each time I watch I pick up a little bit more. One thing that I have found is that there are a lot of things that have rings like the milk jugs and I have used them too, some are smaller, but some are bigger but they work, you just have to increase the number of stitches. I have been using the Patons Canadiana that I purchased at Micheals (I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) in the White, Cardinal, Green Tea and Fools Gold (white, red, green & gold). I have used the gold to make some of the French Knots. I also what to let you know that I really appreciate all the work you have put into this. Thank you very much.
Thanks! These are great. I’m using smaller rings to make pins!
Maritza, cute idea!!!
Just been looking at your reviews here and see a “Whole Lot of People saying Glad That You Are Back and How Much You Have Been Missed”
Guess things not good at your end. And this why you no back on here. So although I new to your page.I just want to THANK YOU for finding how to make your wee wreath and also to say just ❤️🙏🌈
Who'd a thunk it...love the milk jug ring idea...wonderful!
yes please do more videos like this one. I love this like this so. I can make them for gifts that won't cost me much to do.
I really like the mini weath good job
So Beautiful and fast , easy and affordable.
Thank you.
God Bless you.
Brilliant. Simple. Thank you.❤️🧶🧶
I just loved this simple cute adorable project. Your a great teacher. Thank you so much !!!
Whoo hoo i made one, will be making more. Thank you for showing the V stitch I haven't done it before and it looks beautiful.
I just made one. White was easier than it sounded. Turned out great. I used French knots to make berry cluster.
You are brilliant what a great idea to use the ring from a milk jug. 👏👏👏👏👏 I love this very easy pattern thank you
Such a classy wreath. I shall be making these. I only learned to crochet this summer during the COVID 19 Pandemic all from watching tutorials. I had no one to ask questions to. Carolyn Dennis VT,
Very nice! 1st time I've come across a V-stitch using SC in place of DC. I like how it came out!
This is so pretty! No one would ever guess they are simple to make! Thank you for this great tutorial.
I use to make these decades ago. I’m glad this caught my eyes. I love the milk bottle ring, went and got one and I used scissors to remove it. I have a chunky yarn and you were spot on, 22 stitches. You have a like from Washington State. I’ll check out other videos.
Robin, this is Susanna a subscriber. The number of double crochets around the ring is 32. I have small rings too and that is when I do 22 stitches.
I was going to use metal key ring but the milk jug is a good way to recycle and cheap. Great idea
Beautiful items
I just came across your video and absolutely love it. No yadda yadda yadda. The wreath is beautiful and I just took ring off my milk container to make one. Thank you so much.
Not just a xmas ornament, it's a lovely xmas ornament and would last a long time . Thanks for using the milk jug ring instead of saying that we need to go out shopping for something. I reuse as much as possible and so I covet all sorts of bits n bobs . Trouble is I have such a busy mind I forget what I've saved things for and so stuff just don't get done. Please make more stuff , new sub in me
I like the idea of using those silly plastic rings from milk jugs. This is a good use for them. I'm making a wreath now! It needs berries and a bow next and it will be done.
I'm going to put out an APB to friends and family to save those rings for me!
Thanks for that nifty cheap idea.
They look great, gonna make some for my mantelpiece
I've been saving some milk carton rings for this project. I plan to make several. I also saved a few soda pop rings to make some smaller wreaths. What a cute wreath. Thank you for the video.
Love this wreath, thanks for the video! The only thing I changed was I made a French knot on both sides so I could hang it on Christmas Tree. I also will include one in my Christmas Cards!
Nice idea!
If you are mailing within the USA and are going to put them into your Christmas cards, be sure to use one of those small bubble envelopes or the small size manilla mailers because if you put it in a regular card envelope , it will get caught in the sorting machine and get destroyed. Those require add'l postage! Also sometimes they hand sort the mail and if there is bulk inside a regular card envelope, they require extra postage and will either return to sender or throw it in the non-deliverable bin. Happy holidays! 🎄
I'm going to try this in a size 10 thread and a 2 mm hook. Thank you SO much for the video.
Thank you for the video. It's perfect for the beads and bows I have. They are for my children.
Watching this again, looking forward to you posting other things.
Sooo funny. I love that you are a realist with crochet. Funny ocd reference with weaving in ends and about getting yarn at specific stores. So many others waste gab time! telling viewer nonsense info. Lol
Ok I found a milk bottle plastic ring, made the wreath OMG I love it :) so cute. Please bring us some more Christmas stuff wow this was so cool, easy and a lovely ornament!
Squeeze the spout of the jug. I've also noticed that depending on the brand of milk, one or the other of gallon and 1/2 gallon size differ.
Really pretty, def going for this and love the milk jug ring idea, not only upcycles but makes it cheaper! TY💜💜💜
Love this. Hate to think of how many of those rings I have thrown away. Won't anymore.
Thank you! This is exactly what I need for my mother-in-law this yuletide.
A tip if you're collecting a bunch of the milk jug rings: Snip the neck of the jug just above the ring and give it a squeeze it should slip off easy after that!
Great idea up I am enjoying yours tutorial.
Hi I'm a new subscriber today. I saw another wreath ornament and made about four. I went looking for that pattern and ran into your video. I liked the look of yours better. I made one but will make more for next year. Thank you for this tutorial. Will watch for more interesting things on your channel.😊
I was pleased to see you use milk jug rings because I've made smaller ones using the plastic rings from Coke bottles. I thought I'd take a look at how you crocheted the white part of the wreath. This is really great... thanks for sharing! 👍😊
I just found this tutorial. These are super cute and easy! Being on a budget for gifts this year, I think that I will be making some of these as well as other cute things and giving them to people instead of stressing about shopping.
I like those wreath! Now to get some of the hoop off of the milk! Thank You
Thanku for the easy tutorial ...hv just finished making one....love from India
Love this video! Thanks so much for sharing!!! Also, I used the ring on a water bottle. Didn’t have a milk jug and it worked fine! Thanks again!!!
