It's amazing that there's enough metal there to save. Well done for saving my favourite car ever. I'm still undecided though between liking the 2 or 4 door format the most. I think I'd have a 4 door if I could.
Fuzz is a legend. Good to see James May too, what a celebrity packed show. Like this stage of a project, things can only get better from here. When you said the body looked like the surface of Mars after it came out the dip, I was half expecting someone to chip in with "yeah, but is there life on Mars?"
For exciting times with the Bramble project. The saga continues. Thanks for sharing Pete. It's great to a little Cortina video fix every now and then. It makes my day. One thing though, I am simply blown away by the amount of repair and restoration that has to take place and the fact that you jhave the skill and ability to make it all look so easy. I know for a fact that it is not but the videos make it seem like a walk in the park most times. You are a very gifted man in many ways and that is why the videos to me are so amazing.
Great to see this Bramble project kicking off Pete, Blimey It looks like it's been parked up on the planet 'Crematoria' from the chronicles of Riddick film.
Looking forward to seeing the finished dipping process Pete.... As you say middle structure and bulkhead fairly solid as not snapping it's back when being manouvered with forks or even the dolly... fascinating how these old abandoned Ford's rot so differently...
Fingers crossed me lads! I lived in UK for 22 years until recently and owned a good number of classics, but my god the rust issues... re rain and salt in winter! One had to choose very carefully re mark of car you were after, especially if she was an older British make! Now back in Sydney and whilst the trim on older classics fries in the sun if not looked after, there is minimal rust if any...! I wish you lads the best with the outcome. At the end of the day it's all about how deep are your pockets and your time. We never had the two door version of this car in Oz, the saloon version was very popular here in its time alongside the larger Ford Falcon and Fairmont, which my father had.
Amazing what is left after stage 1 dipping. You just want to peel it back further to see what's there ! I'm glad it was James May driving the green Corty. He's my favourite !
Hi Pete, Bramble looks to be pretty solid a lot less work than on mine, by the look of the shell after the first bake, interesting to see how the red oxide paint seems to resist the heat, other paint flaking off every where, shows why it is a good anti rust primer as it bonds very well, and I used it on the inside of all my panels, in the multi anti rust layers
Jesus Pete, she's well rotten. Worse than swampy in certain places and surprisingly good in other places. There will be a lot of grinding cutting and welding on that one. Keep up the good work. You're a brave man for sure.
Hi Pete. Welcome back bramble 😆 I can’t believe your taking on this fantastic Cortina rebuild......🙈 But I’m sure you’ll do a fantastic job with lots of followers like me 👍🏻
Well done pete, got this whilst watching graveyard carz .things can only get better. Have you got a magic hat?Just watched again and noticed lhd escort with factory sun roof. My brother in law whilst in the army stationed in Germany used to visit us in a lhd mk3 taunus gxl with factory sun roof and v4 2.0 engine .Makes you wonder why UK cars didn't have them. Looking forward to seeing next episode.
Haha 9:51 I'm convinced the guy in the Mercedes box van was saying, "Is that a Capri? Me Dad had one of them m8". Seriously though, you must get asked a lot about what it is, is it a Capri? is it a 2 door Granada? Looks like a big Escort? Etc.. Great talking point this whole restoration game, fair play to you Pete.
Yep ZX81 and before that Birmingham Education Department's computer which we shared with all the other comprehensive schools in the area. It had a huge IBM terminal/printer which we fed with punched paper tape to programme it in CESIL and BASIC. We pirated the passwords of the other schools and used to leave them rude messages on their printers. Happy days. Then we got a BBC computer with a tape cassette and large floppy disk drive. No more smutty messages to the girls schools, but at least we got to play space invaders on it at lunch time.
That looked like a Group A Sierra Cosworth touring car shell, maybe originally built by Andy Rouse as he pioneered the vented foot well on those. Apparently the turbo was so close to the bulkhead that it would get so hot it cooked the driver's left foot on the dead pedal/clutch foot rest. If it was like that in the BTCC it must have been torture for the drivers in endurance events...
Deffo a race car shell as those tubes in the floor are where the air jacks are housed , seam welded , strenghtened , the cage ect ect but the floor vents are the norm, nothing special for btcc, exactly the same as 1.6l under the sound deadening
I used to weld mk3 cortinas in the 80s.... absolute rot boxes. No idea why but the ones painted in Olympic blue didn't rot as much as the ones in Daytona yellow. 🤔
This must be the GLR model (Got Lotsa Rust) or (Gets Lotsa Restoration). This makes my corty look like its fresh off the showroom floor. A lot of work to do Pete but will be well worth it to have a 2 door mk3 corty.
fuzz must of been filming a new ep of car SOS or he was there to well get one of the pratical classics cars dipped, i must go back to reading there mag IF I CAN FIND ONE TESCO! loving the spare wing colour lovely 70's purple, your next projects gotta be in that colour, or at least try to match one to the 70's colours, XD good start, the trolley decides to give out, or at least a wheel does oh well guess your nneed a more thicker piece of steel on that wheel now huh? and now the last wheel doesn't want to come off, what else will this project bring?! thought you'd be t the nec, hope you said helo to twc the lil invva car, oh and james may in the cortina, i think the guy who did all the voices in dead ringers as i seem to remember him having one, that or that is just a popuar known cortina used in docs,
Pete C I’m not going mate I’m slightly under the weather😢😢😢 Sorry I thought the vid had ended early and missed the part about your attendance at the NEC.
So I was very interested on the first video. From there this series slowly declines. Its like you decided to give up trying to get good shots and angles, lighting, background noise, and just interesting content. This is just like one of my buddies having his camera phone on by mistake while doing some lazy Sunday engine work, and just records 80% nonsense. IDK.... I know I will get burned for not being grateful, yada yada..... I just feel misled is all.
Whats the point in restoring this car as there is absolutely nothing left of the shell....it would make sense if you have an original body shell that you can fix up without replacing to many original bits....by the time you fix this body there will be nothing original left of it.
quite a lot still orginal, half the front end is orginal, a lot of the roof is still orginal , ok roof skin is swapped yes but wheel tubs, chassis leg, central spine of the floor. plus all the cars that donoted parts can live on in this one, all the running gear and interior orginal, more thna you think Michael, pete

Absolutely brilliant. Your experience shines.

Fantastic video Pete, that alarm sound is on one of my machines at work so I get to hear that every day haha. I’ll see you at the NEC on Saturday!

Good to see Bramble being worked on again.

Fuzz at the start, and James May at the end? You mixing with the stars....

WOW pete, big job broke out....
Virtual reality smells? could of swore I could smell a car on fire when watching.
Big fan of Alien
Great vid pete
The Bramble returns
Hey Pete... where's the update vid on Bramble? I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! :)
"Give it a slam James.." - You at the NEC Crazy Legs? Me and Cat there Friday.
Back in the day, my mate would go spare if anyone slammed the door of his MkII 1600E.
Wow ! Courage Pete ..
OMG BASIC !!
Now I feel old....
Robin LOL!!! ZX81 !!!!!

The Metros that were painted in metallic colours were less prone to rust than the flat colours too.
The paint must offer more protection.
Here we go, it begins here :)
pete your a nutter lol nice work getting fuzz looking forward to stage 2

Wow can you imagine someone twenty years ago saying I'm going to restore that !!.
It probably wasn't in such a state 21 years ago so would have been an easy job
(Lol)
hi pete this car is good fun
ALIEN INTRO......hope that's a good sign
Ash is a robot!
where have you been? was starting to worry
Great video's, Appart from Fuzz Townsend at the start, did you really have to put that annoying noise at the start
Why was the shell inside that container ??? Was it a dryer or something ????
it was burning off the paint
@@PeteCswampy a kinda way , rather than dipping ????
Just been watching you compress them springs !!!!!! .ur a fantastic guy 💖👍
It still amazes me how she's still in one piece.
yah picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel.
good ol Kenny rogers!!
I can't get my head round that much being ok on the car and not warping it,
Esto está para tirarlo !!
Is this process preferable to media blasting?
depends on the amount of welding needed gaz, soda or vapour is good if you only want to strip paint and surface rust
fuzz must of been filming a new ep of car SOS or he was there to well get one of the pratical classics cars dipped, i must go back to reading there mag IF I CAN FIND ONE TESCO!

Weird: the battery tray is one of the few parts of the car relatively free of deep rust.
ABSO Brill Pete. You at the NEC this weekend?
ooooo yea
Pete C I’m not going mate I’m slightly under the weather😢😢😢
Sorry I thought the vid had ended early and missed the part about your attendance at the NEC.
25:00 looks like Lichen growing all over it.
Pretty unsafe fork lift operation with unsecured slippers and then backing out of them, to extend the reach. The load centre was way out
THE RUST IS WORSE THAN I FIRST THOUGHT
I've never seen a mk2 Escort with a factory sunroof before...
Whats that cross medal beside the helmet Pete? I'm intrigued. 2:12
Fuzz Townsend
wahooooooo
What's the story behind james may in the cortina?
Hi bob, grand tour used some of my cars for a film they doing
