👍 More good demonstrations and descriptions of the foil gybe which was very clear and in time with the actions, and having owned a Windsurfing school myself I know the benefits of giving that sort of demonstration first.

    1. Biggest wing, smallest sail
    2. Flat water strong winds
    3. Reduce degrees for gybe
    4. Bend legs, move hands backwards
    5. Put back foot
    6. Close the sail with backhand at the start and release it slowly immediately
    7. Lean forward alot
    8. Switch feet early. Put former back foot on footstrap
    9. Push the sail opposite side of gybe curve
    10. Avoid getting backwinded but if you do push backhand

    Fantastic video.
I really need help getting my back foot into the strap after the gybe. I know quite a few people who need advice with this.
Sounds simple for you professionals yet old guys like me battle with this. Would really appreciate a video on this. 👍
    Keep up the excellent videos.
    Regards Robbie

Agreed. Downwind on race foils in wind above 15 knots gets scary. Would love some tips. 😊

A buddy suggested getting the sail to the outside, made a huge difference in not getting back winded and staying in control of the board.

Back winded is my main issue. I only foil in light winds (around 10knots or less) strange thing is, I did follow Luuc van Opzeeland into the gybe, he was going way faster and did not get backwinded but i did. I did ask him how he did such a thing but he could not explain. I guess it just takes more practice.

It will be the 4 things mentioned in the video - opening the sail early, pushing the sail forward and to the outside, switching the feet early and shifting the sail early.

You make it look easy. Your foil jibe looks very similar to a regular windsurfing jibe, but it must be harder because I see my friends (who are good at windsurfing) struggle to jibe their foils.

    • @RYTISJAS
      @RYTISJAS  3 роки тому +1

It just takes some time to get used to the slight differences, but being good at jibing a fin board will help you on the foil too.

Great video as always, thanks a lot!
BTW, you are mentioning back winding a lot, this also happens to me when power jibing on a fin. What would be the best way to avoid it?

Try pushing the mast forward and to the outside of the gybe once you start releasing the backhand.

Could you please do a video on how to sail race foils downwind as fast as possible? It would be good to know set up tricks and where to put the mast base for good upwind height & speed while also not breaching downwind all the time. Thank you. 😊👍

Hi Rytis, do you prefer the 190-250 platinum boom or the severne IQ boom on a 9.0 foil sail? Mainly asking because of the different width of the tail end.
