This worked! Thank you, it made my son’s day. Our internet is out, and he couldn’t get his switch to connect to my phone’s hotspot. It was my first time using a hotspot, so we couldn’t understand why it said it was connected to the phone, but not to the internet. This fixed it immediately. Thanks!!
@@meagandominguez3732 nahh was something wrong with ships internet....its mainly becayse they cut the wifi off and gave us access on one device...so my switch couldnt log into it since it had already registered my phone's ip
Before going into these settings, make sure you have the right error code when not connecting to your router/modem. my fix was as easy as not saving the new password for my internet. All my other devices connected because they reverted back to the old password, except the switch which was still trying to use the new password.

Tip: when you try to connect to a network on your switch and put the password in correctly but it instantly declines, do a soft reset! To do a soft reset just hold the power button down when the switch is on don't stop until the screen is black then wait for a few seconds and turn it back on! Do the same if you can't find any networks at ALL. This happened to me just now and I did a soft reset and it started working properly:)

Hey, my switch only disconnects whenever I change the DNS settings to play on unlisted minecraft bedrock servers (i.e. a server a streamer made), but when I change them back the connection starts working (but I cant play on the servers anymore) Do you know why the DNS settings would stop the switch's connection? FIXED!!! What you have to do is log into your router on internet explorer and turn of your 2.4ghz wifi network. This will force your switch to use the 5ghz. After your switch connects you can turn the 2.4 wifi network back on. If you do not know how to access your router settings then call your internet provider and they will walk you through it. It's easy and the only thing that works. Basically the Switch prefers the 5ghz wifi network. But if the 2.4ghz network is stronger it will try and connect there. THIS WORKS! Once it connects to the 5ghz wifi network it will remember to connect to it instead of the 2.4ghz.

Hello so I tried everything from changing the security then changing manual dns then changing manual ip but nothing worked so then this what I did. 1. First turn off your switch in hand held 2. Then forget your network in handheld 3. Then dock your switch 4. Then connect to your network work Now this very important, if your switch can’t connect to only internet and you get dns error then all you do is this 5. Go to your network settings and change dns to manual 6. Both primary and secondary dns should be 1.1.1.1 Then save and it should work Remember to dock, I watched different videos on this topic and all the solution have the same process and it varies on different switchs so try different things and see which works This method worked for me so I hope it works for u too
Here is my work-around solution! Since nothing else worked I created a guest wifi in my router settings and it connected in 2 seconds without any problems. Still have not figured out why it does not like my normal network but I am happy that this works!
for others reading in the future, this sounds like an issue with security that wasn't solved by changing security type & double checking your password. That might help someone else narrow down the issue, but gl with finding the solution lmao. My switch decided it needed to update before registering to my guest wifi, which, uhhhh... yeah. Ok! None of these worked for me but I do have a small tip that worked for me and might work for others! Try using a hotspot from your phone! Not really the best option but if you’re like me and want to hold the tablet to play, it might work for you! Good luck! ❤️

You are working with three things, the router, the device, and the actual ISP. Playing with these should work. Also a hard reboot of router (leave off for 60 seconds) might help
My internet on my Nintendo switch keep disconnecting even tho it's wired, and my controller strangely also disconnects simultaneously.. it keep doing that non stop to a point where I cannot play even offline, since my controller will still disconnect and tell me that I lost wifi... another method that worked for me is to clear all settings from the wifi youre trying to connect to and just recconnect

If its still not working try delete the network you're trying to connect to next to the router and register it again, that seemed to work for me
