How about a simple parking lot litter cleanup service? It's not sexy but is almost as easy as going for a walk! The work is done on-foot with simple hand tools. You're contracted by property management companies to maintain their commercial properties litter free. Hey - people litter. They always have and always will. Fortunes are being made by ordinary people willing to clean up after others. I started this as a side gig in 1981 and grew it into a six-figure business of 40+ years.

Problem of many side hustles servicing commercial property is they want you bonded and insured, which means cash reserves available and initial start up costs; then there's tax questions of sole proprietorship, or DBA's or LLC's. Or you could just take your chances and ignore the 1099's flowing in.
Honestly the best side hustles are between you and another individual, off the books and in cash. General yard work, labor, moving stuff. Concentrate on established neighborhoods with older populations, offer general labor services, do a good job and ask clients to tell the neighbors. I've become the trusted go-to guy for dozens of clients needing trash clean up, a handyman, car washing, etc. For anything they're no longer able to do, a trusted helper is worth gold.

I’ve been able to avoid this problem for a couple of years by giving a detailed description of what I’m doing and doing a walk around of the customers car with them to assess any damage that’s already there. A lot of the time the customer didn’t know that it was there and has led to them paying extra to get it fixed. I also have a camera running the whole time I’m detailing for some extra security.

I don’t own a boat but was going to take courses to rebuild my skills and eventually buy a boat and just sail as much as I can before I retire, at which time I intend to sail full time. I’ve also thought about creating a UA-cam channel documenting my travels on cruises and provide video reviews of my experiences. I’ve recently gotten bit by the cruise bug and think I have a good shot at making videos of my travels. I’ve never made videos or had a YT channel but I’m hoping to do so when I head out on a cruise in November. Wish you well in your endeavors.

This isn't very typical, but don't ever wind up in a situation like me. I've worked in logging for 15 years. While I do like most aspects of the actual work, I have very little home time and some very looooong commutes. I have very little time to apply to jobs and talk to potential employers, and no cell service all day complicates this bigtime. I leave long before businesses are open and get home after they close. I have no personal connections to help me get a job either.
Had a long seasonal layoff last winter where I applied to lots of different jobs, but was unable to get hired at any job I tried. Instead I wound up going into debt using my credit card to pay bills. I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to get out of this situation if no one ever wants to hire me. I'd like to work for myself, but again I have no real connections to help me get started, and I have no real work skills outside my industry.

Just something to think about from a lousy experience I had. That sleeping bag' (mylar bivy) doesn't breathe if it's like the ones I've used. I would encouraget you make it a point to sleep in it on a cool night. I got warm, then wet because it doesnt breathe, then got chilled and cold again when I opened it to get some air because of the wet. If you have had other results discount what I said, but I had terrible luck with the one I had. Sol makes a breathable bivy that is awesome though. It breathes, is water resistant, and I even use it as a bivy over a sleeping bag on occasion. They are like 50 bucks but much more durable and reusable also. If you dont' want to spend that, the grabber type heavy duty mylar blankets seem much better also when I used it than the non breathable bivy because while it did hold in some heat, because it wasnt completely sealed I didnt get so damp and chilled. They are under 20 dollars. Anyway, just trying to be helpful If you havent tried it.The video was good, thanks for posting.

I had no idea that people would pay for it otherwise I would have been doing it myself in the suburbs.Brings back memories. Did any other cities or suburbs also paint a giant white circle in the middle of the street whenever there was a fire hydrant. So the firemen could spot them easily.

James, I have a rv repair business in WI. I get quite a few people that ask me to wash there rv's. I don't wash them as is not part of my business model. I found that if you go to the owners of the campground and introduce yourself then ask them directly for permission to be on their property, you just moved to the head of the line. They will be your best promoter. Make sure your business cards are magnetic cards. Campers like to have that information handy and the put it on their stove top hood. I always love to walk into a customer's rv and seeing my card hanging on the fridge or stove hood.
Also you will be dealing with alot of older people, don't be in a rush to hurry up and get out of there when your done, sit down and talk with them for a few minutes. These are the ones that will be passing your info out to all their friends and camp neighbors.
Now a couple of no no's on power washing a rv. Never ever power wash the air conditioner fins on the bach side of ac unit. Don't blow water into the fridge exterior doors, take them off , lay them on a mat and wash them, water blown into the back of the can reack havoc on the control board, spray down ward when washing the water heater door and try not to blow to much water in the furnace exhaust holes.
If your going to wash the rv roofs, which you should, use a low pressure power washer no more the 1200psi and don't get real close to the roof, you don't want to blow holes in the rubber roofs. Also use a roof conditioning soap (for rubber roofs) don't you use household dish soaps. I've seen Dawn mess up a roof coating. Dicor makes a good conditioning soap.
Any was good luck on your adventure.

I had social anxiety for most of my life. But I found out social anxiety is just a symptom of the main problem... the main problem called "toxic shame". I did the proper work to heal may toxic shame and my social anxiety naturally disappeared. I can't explain everything in this one message, but I highly recommend for your wife to read the book: "Healing The Shame That Binds You (2005 Expanded and Updated Edition)", written by John Bradshaw. Also, here on UA-cam are videos of John Bradshaw about the same topic. John Bradshaw, as well as other sources about toxic shame (including the forum thread I mention below) has helped me tremendously. You can also do research from other sources. Toxic Shame is a condition many people don't know about but affects so many. As John Bradshaw says, "Its a soul murdering condition". Your wife can heal from it. I have, and she can too. By the way, toxic shame not only is the source of social anxiety, but also the source of many other emotional and psychological conditions.
P.S. - There is a link to a fantastic thread at a SA forum about toxic shame, but we are not allowed to post links here. If I knew a way to get in touch with you (through email, PM, etc) then I would send you the link. Whatever the case, good luck and get the book I recommended - maybe at a library or purchase it somewhere.

There are plenty of companies that are willing to give felons a second chance. Ask your probation/parole officer for help in this. Also, many temp agencies are willing to help. It also gets easier over time. Simply be honest, show up on time, do the job that you are asked to do to the best of your ability, & be willing to adjust your schedule if needed. Generally, be the person that you would want to work next to.

I just charge service calls then over quote the job needed to be done.
If they accept I make a ton, if they dont I made 35 bucks in 30 min finding out the problem.
Im really good at figuring out house problems . But I do that part honestly. Once its past that point people become too much of a hassle to deal with.

And the leaf blower blows the muck all over the house and gutters. Then you have to clean off the house and the ground, etc.

That's why most commercial properties and knowledgeable homeowners won't hire contractors who aren't bonded and insured. That requires cash reserves and overhead costs. The best hustled are general simple labor, between individuals and in cash. Like I posted in open comments, find an older neighborhood with an older population, do some yard work, wash a car, tighten a bolt, become a trusted face, ask them to spread the word. I've become the go-to guy in my community for simple tasks they can no longer do. Best part, tax man never sees me. Post on craigslist maybe. The work is out there.
