That was so much more enjoyable not seeing dead and suffering goldies everywhere. You can tell they care. ❤

This was my favorite of your Japan series videos so far! Have you considered trying to get some stock shipped to you from this Goldfish Farm?

It would be super if we could order straight from the source, but that would be a very long flight from Japan even here in California.

Isn't that why they use trans-shippers?

The mascot it soooooo cute!! I hope that oneday.. the fishkeeping hobby will be so strong in the USA that we might have towns that are known for certain fish. If I continue my Betta breeding project, I can only hope to have a positive and meaningful impact on the fish..so maybe just maybe I can be known for contributing something like Mitsuharu Fukami did for Goldfish #Goals

Yes ! I think you should do a big indoor high quality betta farm with small ponds ! you are so good at it ! Good for youtube, good for the hobby, good for profit, good for bettas ! Even Highest quality halfmoon or Crowns are sold for prices as low as 5-10 usd in the local market. but shipping to US makes the price go waaay up.

I just want to say I love how much you appreciate the different ways other cultures do things. I'm in the processes of putting my foot in the goldfish world. The past ten years I have spent with cichlids and I have always loved the orandas. I am thinking about getting 2 and putting them in a 75-90 gal tank. What would you Suggest? Really love your channel, never change!

Your videos are delightful and inspiring. They've helped demystify issues and behaviors I've seen in my fish. Recently I've seen my pond based goldfish catching mayflies and other small insects including dime-sized grasshoppers. No wonder they're not interested in fish food! Planning to visit Japan in August and hope to see at least one of the places you visited. Thanks for recording and sharing your experience.

I noticed that fish in the farm looked very healthy, even though the ponds didnt look very sterile, had algea grown etc. And your ponds compared to that looked like a first class surgery room in the cleanest hospital. So maybe fish need a bit dirty enviroment to grow, so their immune systems would be trained, and could handle most of the deseases? But of course Jenny know million times more about goldfish keeping than i do, but here is my assumption

Those green water and algae are perfect for gold fish, and exposure to the sun as well are the reasons why these fish look healthy and more vibrant in colour. The theory of keeping gold fish is quite different from the tropical fish. Japanese ranchu for example required low water level less than 30cm and no circulating filter, only sponge filter, change water every one or two day, expose to sun to allow algae grow......

The Fukami fish farm is a long way from the Yatomi train station at about 5 miles. There may be a way to get closer with the buses but its a long way from the Yatomi city center. If you do visit Yatomi, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the multitude of grow out pools scattered around. The city used to be among the top centers for raising goldfish in Japan but as the industry waned the number of growers has fallen off significantly. There are several fish stores and wholesalers around the city. There was a small one about a mile from the station that featured most varieties of goldfish as well as three Asian arowanas. The truth is that no video can convey the beauty of these fish or the nuance of their motion.
