- North Berwick West Links evolved from a small stretch of common ground in this small coastal town in East Lothian, and grew significantly throughout the 19th century. Since then, the routing has remained largely unchanged. For all other films please head to www.cookiejargolf.com
Golf began all the way back in 1611 at North Berwick when a rudimentary version of the game was played across a small stretch of common land, and from there - The links expanded westward, taking advantage of ground from local landowners who could not find suitable use for the links land we now enjoy. That gradual encroachment allowed the course to extend to 18 holes. Contributors over time include Tom Dunn, Davie Strath and local club maker Ben Sayers.
North Berwick is a site of worship for today's GCA community, and it's easy to get wrapped up in the hyperbole when you visit. It's a unique and special place. The vibe is not stuffy, it's a community links, enjoyed by all, and whilst the visiting green fee is now every high (owing to global notoriety), the members who are fortunate to belong to one of the clubs in the town can enjoy unfettered access to this wild golfing playground all year round. - Спорт
Whenever I play with friends I haven't seen for a while, I tell them about Cookie Jar Golf. I hope word-of-mouth continues to boost your following. Richly deserved. I recently played (the now saved) Cleeve Hill with Mungo Park. It was as memorable in real life as on your video.
Yes!!! 🙌 thanks Michael - it really does help boost things for us! Cleeve is great fun - we played Painswick last week which is often talked about in feb same sentence but the two are poles apart. 👌

I was a member of North Berwick Golf Club from 1977 until I migrated to Australia in 2004.
I promise you that barely a day goes by that I don’t reminisce about the wonderful days playing my favourite course in the world. It was such a privilege and I miss it terribly.
Thank you or that lovely video and I am not ashamed to admit I teared up a bit.
These videos mean a lot, to a person who loves the history of the game, but will never be able to afford to go play them.
My wife and I flew from Texas to Edinburgh and stayed at Gleneagles for our honeymoon. We fell in love with the UK , the lovely people, the stunning scenery, and the brilliantly designing golf courses that scream of skill and history. We simply don’t have that in the States. Thanks for making videos that take me back to the UK every time I watch!

Love it gents! Great work that has me swearing both Brexit and Covid. To be so close yet so far from all that great golf and not allowed to visit...tragic. I think I know about 50 guys that want to be the gentleman that was guiding you through the round. Most of them play hickories.
