  • 2023 Sockeye opener at Baker Lake. Great start to the Baker Lake season with what is shaping up to be quite possibly a record run of Sockeye for this fishery. Fish we running 35 feet deep. #MacksLure #hobiefishing #camanomarine

    Great video. I'll be there a bunch in my canoe setup. Out for three months with broken leg. This will be time well spent

    Nice work! Wow I imagined opening day being packed, looks like you had a nice portion of the lake to yourself. I will be there this weekend.

    Planning for a 2024 first time Baker Sockeye trip. What areas of the rather long lake can you recommend? Noisy Creek? Shannon Creek? Anything down south?

      Noisey creek does hold the most fish. I know some do well down by the dam, and ive done well before between panorama point and swift creek

    A couple questions if you don’t mind.
    Just recently got an autopilot sportsman’s, no fish finder or downriggers set up yet, how important is the fish finder and would droppers work?

    • @JoshHoines
      @JoshHoines  Рік тому +2

      droppers definitely work fine. Fish finder is pretty important for speed as you need to stay between .8 -1.0 mph, and the fish can be at different depth day to day, and will usually move down as the sun gets higher. a gps speedometer on your phone would work for speed if it doesnt require cell service, and can try asking others on the water the depth they are finding fish. Depth/fish finder will greatly improve your odds. plus there are some areas that are 150ft but quickly bottom will be 30ft.
