This video demonstrates how to set an LG TV to default to an HDMI source when the TV is powered on. Please provide a thumbs up and subscribe if this video helped you.
Mine was fine until a recent update just had the LG interface showing. This video put me in the right direction. Slightly different on my model but worked all the same. Cheers dude.
It didn't work 😢 Thank you for sharing I got hopefully with your video . My LG TV doesn't have system in under general. I wonder what is the difference between my LG and your LG TV.😢
Thank you, thank you! Just purchased an LG TV same model as yours and couldn't believe it would not default to the last used input. Thanks to you, mystery solved. It now defaults to my HDMI input. Thank you for taking the time to share this info with everyone.
Thank you! This has been so frustrating for my 93 year old Mom to figure out the TV. Was about ready to go get another brand of TV until I saw your video. Thanks again.
Thank you! I updated my dads TV, and it removed this default and he does not do well with change. Spent ages trying to figure it out, you video helped me get it right. Now I have a happy father again.
Thankyou I’ve a different setting there, a toggle to force Home Screen but I switched it off and now it’s coming on back to my firestick. Your info is much appreciated and got rid of an annoying issue for over a year I’ve suffered with. Cheers
Thank you for sharing. Your video absolutely saves tons of my time. The setting menu on my LG TV is slightly different, and all I have to do is to find the "Home Settings", and turn off the "Home Auto Launch"
I don't usually comment on UA-cam, but thanks! This was so simple, but I would have not gathered the patience to figure it out on my own. Moved to a new house, got the tv and was getting frustrated about this. Thank you for taking the time!
Spent a couple of days trying to achieve this, so very pleased to see your video just in time to watch the open golf in Royal Troon, Scotland thank you very much.
Thanks mate you help me setup my mother's LG OLED Smart TV to startup at any TV channels she last watch instead of the complicated menu that starts when the TV starts up so that way my old senile mother won't struggle starting the tv in channel mode instead of the complicated menu mode startup menu. Bravo mate you are a good man.
Thanks. It seems the other videos have different openings screens than this so your video was perfect. Things seem way more complicated these days. I recently purchased a Denon AVR-X1800 AV receiver.. had to download the 250 page owners manual.. 27 pages were dedicated to set up. The rest was all stuff I need to learn about. Just crazy.
This was an excellent post. It must have taken a great deal of time and effort to figure this one out. It worked perfectly for me. Thank you very much.
Thank you best piece of advice, been trying all day as husband was not happy as it was too fiddly for him after our last TV defaulted to SKY and new one didn’t till I saw your video thanks
Thanks so much!! I was getting frustrated, also. The previous video I watched did not work for me, but had it done 30 seconds after watching your walk-thru! 😁
Thanks. Not sure why this issue frustrated me so much but it really did. Great now it’s set to stay on last input. Also turned off all the advertising rubbish when in same menu
Mine had a whole bunch of additional steps and didn’t have the hdmi as an option. but thanks to you I was able to get to where I needed to be. Thank you!!
Thank you very much for this video. I just bought my LG yesterday and couldn’t find how to get Roku remote to turn on and off and this video on start up. Good job, thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much. Your solution worked perfectly. A recent update changed my default to the LG Home Screen.i kept trying reprogramming the cable remote to no avail. No way I would have stumbled on that menu setting on my own.
Thank YOU! Thank YOU!! Thank YOU!!! I was so frustrated that I was seriously getting ready to return the TV. I don't know why LG makes it so difficult to select your preferred home screen (or why their remote is so terrible), but your video was a life saver. :)
appreciate this so much sir. my LG TV been driving me nuts after software update this happened. . almost sold it and buy a Roku equip tv . thanks so muc
I actually got my box (Orange TV - French) connected on my LG TV's HDMI 1 but it was driving me nuts as no matter what button I pressed on the telecommand, nothing moved on the screen. I could connect my iPhone and cast it using the WEB OS and Orange TV worked but not the box. I then found this post and your Settings - Settings ... ...Home - Last Input and tried again. THEN I REALISED why the telecommand didn't work. I was using the TV one not the Orange TV. box's one. Have a laugh on me. Still a very useful default source.
dude thank you so much this was a pain in the but having to constantly go to that input as I use this TV in a 4 monitor setup on my pc so it was getting very tedious everytime I turned it on. this will save me a lot of time over a long period of time, lol thanx!!!!
Thanks for the quick video - long time Samsung user and the TV would auto sense to whatever device was active. I'm surprised the LG doesnt do this. If I was using a built in app, and I hit the home button on my roku it would change, if I turned on my xbox it would auto sense and change to that input. Does LG have this feature hidden somewhere? Nice TV though
Mine was fine until a recent update just had the LG interface showing. This video put me in the right direction. Slightly different on my model but worked all the same. Cheers dude.
Great to know the video helped!
Mine did the exact same thing, and despite LG interface generally being intuitive, I could not find the answer until your video. Merci.
It didn't work 😢 Thank you for sharing I got hopefully with your video . My LG TV doesn't have system in under general. I wonder what is the difference between my LG and your LG TV.😢
@cheerfulallday , Yours likely has a different software version. You might want to consider updating your software.

Great!
THANK YOU! Nothing like a basic function that's buried four layers deep in a menu. Thanks for doing the research and sharing it with us.
I have watched 5 videos. This was the last. You showed me what I needed to do and it worked. Thank you!!
Great news!
Thankyou I’ve a different setting there, a toggle to force Home Screen but I switched it off and now it’s coming on back to my firestick. Your info is much appreciated and got rid of an annoying issue for over a year I’ve suffered with. Cheers

Thank you you made my 87-year-old mother happy😊

Simple and straight to the point! Thank you, I was struggling looking for that option for about a week now 😅
Great!
Thank you Sir! Just bought an LG smart TV today, and needed it defaulted to HDMI for my SKY Q box. Sorted!
DIY Fixer-thanks, you’ve eliminated a (relatively minor) issue that still was a source of frustration several time a day. I appreciate your insight!
Thank you! Was trying to find this instruction for an hour.
We have the same setup as you do and were fine until a recent update to the tv. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for this. It's been driving me mad! Slightly different settings on my UK spec TV, but worked a treat, and now starts from the hdmi.
Great!
Thank you for finding and then sharing how to do this. I have struggling like you to find this solution.!!
This was an excellent post. It must have taken a great deal of time and effort to figure this one out. It worked perfectly for me. Thank you very much.
Great!
Thank you!! Who designed that interface, lol? Go to settings, then go to settings again..... That was great. Solved my problem in about 30 seconds.
Great that the video helped!
Great!
Thank you so much for sharing this hidden option. I spent 10 minutes looking for this setting. The LG Webos is a really a pain

Fantastic, I've been messing on for hours. Worked immediately.
Great!
Not gonna lie, yours are even better than the tutorial for the LG👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Glad to know!
That’s because LG doesn’t want you to default this off.
I had been wondering how to do this as well. Had to go through gymnastics to just bring up my computer on HDMI1....now its automatic. Thanks !!!
Thank you very much!
An update changed it. Before, it was always defaulting to the last input.
Glad it helped!
I never comment, but I just want to thank you for saving me soooo much time this morning - this is EXACTLY what I needed!
Glad it helped!
Much appreciated! Settings in settings... I didn't think to look there! Had ours fixed in two minutes. Thanks again!
Thanks. Not sure why this issue frustrated me so much but it really did. Great now it’s set to stay on last input. Also turned off all the advertising rubbish when in same menu

I'm so glad you made this video. It was such a pain scrolling through it to turn on sky channels. Thank you 👏👏👍👍
Worked for me thank you🙌🏽 I got tired of having to exit out the home menu to play my Xbox when I can control the tv with Xbox remote. Thanks again🙏🏽

Mind blowing that they would purposely make a product worse. Been struggling with this since I bought it. THANKS for the help!
