Rob Machado's Winter Essentials quiver breakdown.
The Sunday - Rob's favorite for trim lines and long wraps, the Sunday is his mid length designed with slow mornings in mind. This shape is easy like Sunday mornings. Now updated in limited edition builds with no center fin box, The Sunday is what Rob likes to ride on the reefs by his house and point breaks in Mexico. Crafted in generous high volume dimensions, the Sunday suits all skill levels and excels most on soft, mushy waves with big faces.
The Mashup - Surfboard designing minds combined, the Firewire Surfboards Mashup in Helium Technology with Volcanic Lamination is the best of Dan Mann's Dominator and Rob Machado's Seaside combined into the ultimate performance hybrid. The Mashup is Rob's favorite shape for Boardrider's club competitions and round pocketed days at home; any conditions that call for quick response, crisp turns and fast cracks in the lip.
The Too Fish - Rob's version of the ultimate California fish, the Firewire Surfboards Too Fish in Helium Technology is an easy paddler, easy wave catcher and ultimate speed line creator. Built for fast lines and flying past oncoming sections, the Too Fish shape is a favorite of Rob's at beach breaks and more.

Someone PLEASE 🙏 tell Chris grow to start doing surfboard reviews again! We miss shred show!!!!!
Agreed !!!!!!
For me you are number 1 with crazy style🏄♂️
Thank you I try my best.
Is it just me or is this just a well thought-out ad for new models/constructions
I bought and ride many good shapes from Firewire Tomo and Machado, but my last 2 boards became red..... Hard to accept it for the price
Niceeeee 🔥🔥🔥
Lol it’s the old guy quiver, im right there with you. Twinnies all day, don’t have to pump and catch a million more waves.
But it's good to pump and use your skill o what a feeling
Meh, i’d rather spend my time fly down the line and doing raps then pumping to do a sub par snap. No ones paying me to surf 😬
@@phillysslydogsly4186 I going to grab a Slater designs Great White volcanic next week
@@tezf6883 Nice! Should be a fun board. Don’t know the models tho, get my boards shaped from Hack in oceanside ca.

Can you do a bit of 'nose riding' with the sunday?
My seaside volcanic started bubbling (coin size) after say 15 sessions. Always kept in a board bag. What should I do? Slice open and glue back with suncure? Bit disappointed I must say…
nice shapes but after my last firewire going red in colour I"m off the brand they need better quality control.
As much as I want to try Firewire boards... I simply can't.
The super fast yellowing of the boards makes any kind of resale value of the boards plummet.
Hopefully in the future some changes are made.
WELL are you leaving boards in your car and out in the sun!? I got the seaside and cymatic when they first came out years ago and they're still white as can be.
@@user-eg7nj1is7l No, I don't leave boards in the car or in the sun. It's a common complaint with Firewire boards. I'm interested in some of the shapes.. But the devaluation on them is a lot higher than other boards.
@@bayyoung Heat is the culprit with the exception of bad batch that came out a while ago. My boards have stayed white.
I rode a board I loved when the waves were slow very much like the longer board in the pic. At that time my go to was a 6'2' Jensen aka fin man. You were about 17/18 at this time. I knew your mom from Steelman electric. They would walk by my shop in 2nd and J street. You and your buddy walked by me and laughed at my choice of surfboard. Very rude little dude! Funny how the worm turns. Say hey to your mom from Bruce the dental lab guy next to nu-faces.
Any advice on how to size a Too Fish? Can't tell how small to go?
Slightly more volume than your shortboard in the Too Fish. With this shape it's best to bias towards slightly too much volume than slightly too less volume.
One size smaller than the go fish ( if you had one)
Rob
Why a Sunday over the seaside and beyond?
Thanks

Love it! Seaside or Too Fish for east coast beachbreak?
Either. Love them both, Comes down to whether or not you want that freer twin fin vibe or you a little more hold from a quad setup.
I’m in love with the seaside, and when the waves are smaller I use it as a twin fin 🤙🏻
I've got a seaside, I've set it up as a Twin. It's super fast. On bigger days where I want a bit more hold I'll surf it as a quad - Its still super fast. I'd be keen to know how different the Too Fish feels compared to the Seaside set up as a twin??
@@unSTEVOED The too fish has more bite into the wave so you can ride it in steeper waves. The Too Fish also likes to be worked more than the seaside to get the most out of it.
Why did you unlist the great white video?
The unlisted video you've seen was sent to email list subscribers only for an early look at the board. The video goes public later today on our UA-cam channel. You can sign up for early access on our website at firewiresurfboards.com.
The treatise on leashes is golden...listen up kiddies
Jesus, when is Rob coming up with a proper performance hybrid for good waves ? something that d complement the seaside for a two board quiver !?
is the volcanic stiffer than the normal he construction ?
No, Volcanic Lamination is an enhancement to either Helium or I-Bolic cores that enables enhanced response and greater deck durability. It's a favorite of both Rob Machado and Dan Mann because it's a more sustainable lamination alternative to carbon in performance shapes.
@@firewiresurfboards let's get this slater great white going I'm getting one baby
Is that the MW collab board?@@tezf6883
No Seaside in winter??? 🥶
The Seaside is always somewhere in the van.
Rob
Why the Sunday rather than a seaside and beyond ?
I have a small seaside and the 6’8 seaside and beyond
Is the Sunday more or less performance
Thanks
Seaside or too fish?
Too fish.... it's got more bottom curve than seaside and picks up waves easier. Ride it with T1 twins if you want a shortboard feel.
What does he mean buy long reps?
Long wraps, I think. Hard to tell though
Yes. Long wraps. He enjoys drawn out cutbacks on open shoulders.
Reps is short for radical epoxy surfboards, so he suggesting you purchase (buy) a number of long ones 👍
We need the Sunday in Volcanic wrap!
Custom order it
@@Wigglasworld actually went with the 6’8” seaside & beyond… pick it up next week 🤙
Fun isn't hard!!
The Sunday is the only good board in that quiver. The other two are a couple of rinky dinks.
got the 2 fish. didn't like it. rail line is 2 short and the swallow is way 2 deep. up for sale in san diego.
In what store and what size? I’m in that area and I’m curious about the board
