Because "Terran" sounds better than "Earthling".
Absolutely
Thats... literally what Terran means.
@@jasonberezowski2869 *But it literally sounds better.*
@@peterni2234 yes it does
Especially since most of the ones in the franchise have never even been to Earth.
When I was a kid, you usually had to wait till all the other shopping was done before you could play your new game. That meant you either had to just wait or read through the booklet in the car. This game came with an inch thick book full of art.
Stop making me feel old!🤣
in other words: 'nostalgic's and all that, hrm?
for this setting of the starcraft multiverse(??)'s and galaxy's/(blizzard-Esc-made) franchise's anyways with you guys I mean.
To clarify, the Terran Confederacy didn't call itself that, instead they were called the Confederacy of Man.
40k colonists
Confederacy of Man
Kind of wore their inspiration on their shirt sleeves eh?
@@GldnClaw Supposedly, Starcraft was supposed to be a 40k game before the license was revoked. Personally, I love Starcraft and 40k for different reasons, so I think in the end that was a good thing.
@@inwit594 That apparently is a myth. Samwise Didier (Starcraft I and II lead concept artist) said in a interview years ago that Starcraft was actually based off differtent sci-fi media, like Starship Troopers, Dune and Western movies, such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and tbh I can totally see some of it in Starcraft - especially the Zerg being the Bugs in Starship Troopers and the Protoss being both the Jedi and the Sith. I don't doubt 40k had some level of influence there, though. I mean, even though I said that, it's unfathomable how alike the Zerg and the Tyranids are.
Damn. I had that name for my fictional sci Fi universe. Gonna have to do some re-writing.
One thing, the commander and ranyor are different characters, it mentioned in the Novels that he leave the Ranger (the group that would become the Raiders) before the brood wars.
Although in the protoss campaigns , the commanders are the following games.
Which is complete BS on Blizzards side btw. If you look at the Bio of the Commander from SC I and the Bio of Matt Horner from SC II, they overlap in almost every aspect....
Missed opportunity. Therefore, in my headcannon: The Commander is Matt Horner
I thought the commander was matt horner.
@@MisterNukular That's exactly what I thought.
Still a mess up imo. The Player (Cerebrate/Commander/Executor) should never be directly represented outside of the concept itself. Starcraft was never a hero sim like WC until its later, less popular iterations.
so much lore and effort given to starcraft universe i hope we get more sc games
Not with Nu-Blizzard
And people hate mengsk for leaving Kerrigan to die….
in hindsight yes. he had all reason to leave her but it resulted in billions of deaths
@@mazju9420 Also, it would have prevented the bringing back the Amon plan.
he was still a douchebag at the end of the day, yes what Kerrigan did was wrong to his family, but what Mengsk was doing was far worse
Should've just "ghosted" her 😂
To be fair, it's kinda a dick move to leave a soldier behind. It can be justified, but it shouldn't ever be praised.
But in this case, at the time, they had reason not to save Kerrigan.
"Militaristic, Vaguely dystopian U.N."
So the U.N.
Yeah, but instead of punishing people for acting in the role they're meant to be, they don't punish people for acting in the role they're not meant to be.
...So the U.N.
Mengsk ended up losing but damn, he was definitely not talentless
You ever hear the story of his high school graduation?
He was a bad man, but just because you're the bad guy doesn't make you incompetent. A good villain.
i need some kind of citation for that "jim raynor was retconned to be the main character of sc1" because that sounds bizzare, the player character had like, a name and rank in the confederacy before he and jim were excommunicated, there are multiple, explicit references to the player character during sc1 in every campaign. In humans, you're a magistrate, in the zerg you're a rogue cerebrate that the overmind is using to help sarah become a god, in the protoss campaign you're a nameless fleet commander. you explicitly experience the game through a third person outside of tassadar, kerrigan and raynor because shit happens to those characters in the narrative.
Shame that the commander was retconed out of existence. Almost all but the protoss executors were either killed off of I guess now didn't happen
He wasn't retconned out, he left Raynor and the gang after SC1 and still has an unknown status to this day.
@@noticarus3164 he's matt horner
he has to be secretly
You mean the magistrate?
@@titan133760 he means the Terran "commander" as Raynor refers to him throughout classic sc Terran campaign. AKA the cursor behind it all
What really bothers me is that the Earth's forces are the same as their disconnected colony in the Kuprulu sector.
I was hoping the original mother planet's forces would be far more advanced.
Sending advanced technology could cause the Dominion to reverse engineer it, a risk the UED did not wish to take.
I would assume that the Terrans had more experience in surviving in outer space and had many exiled scientists with them who were forbidden to experiment on earth, they most likely made their technical revolution in the Koprulu sector. To me, canonical Earthlings look like the Confederation from the Starship Troopers movies, they have more standard infantry without exoskeletons and with additional military equipment, they have their own military tactics, but they do not surpass Terrans in technology a hundred times, rather in supply, quality and leadership, and only slightly surpass them technologically.

If Mengsk only explained briefly to Kerrigan and Raynor why left her, probably Kerrigan accepted her fate.
kind of wish there where indications between the lore of starcraft /broodwar and Starcraft 2 considering the amount of retcons made by after
7:25 hey if you look little closely its like showing middle finger
That's the point
I love how dark the storyline to StarCraft is
Evil UN seems pretty accurate.
Great vid guys 👍 would love a vid the Terrans tech and weapons

wow just getting into SC after WH and this is good too :D

Nucular! Strategery game!
2301 is when they left and then +240 years which is 2540. But the games start in 2499 and last lore is in 2508?
probably 240 years after now. According to the wiki, "the terrans arrived in the Koprulu sector via supercarriers in 2259"
'2301-'.
meanwhile, UCN|UCA/ISA/ICSA era Humankind's.
and, er. 'heh'....

Did the events after Amon happen in a game or outside of the game?
Hell yeah, I was wondering we're the Terran one was at. Thanks buddy
Hey there.. entertained as always..
Please do Alien, predator and starship troopers franchises in the future!..
They all have their own lore on evolution, culture and political aspects.. that i see you guys doing well on..
Keep it up! We'll be watching!
10:55 not to mention that the Zerg where there after kerrigan. with the zerg getting what they wanted they stop their campaign against the Terran and focus on the protoss
The change in making you Raynor killed the game for me. I was much more immersed as a captain sitting at a computer getting messages than walking around my ship clicking like a moron to find new chat logs
Nu-Blizzard doesn't exist for me, so nothing happened after Brood War.
is their any lore on the adjutant ???
Did Earth government just ignored the sector after the first expedition failed?
Iirc they had their own problems at home so Koprulu was left alone, still kinda confused why the 4 factions of man won't unite since they could control a large part of the galaxy but yeah humans do human things.
In other words: just the UN.
So it’s Terran and Zerg that United together and became the next xel'naga?
No, the Protoss (Purity of Form) and the Zerg (Purity of Essence) were meant to merge at Ulnar and become the next generation of Xel'naga.
Kerrigan, on top of originally being infested by the Overmind, was rebirthed in the first spawning pool in Zerus and got Purity of Essence. Ouros, the last surviving Xel'naga besides Amon gave Kerrigan his Purity of Form. With both purities, Kerrigan ascended to Xel'naga. Unless I missed out on one of the later stories and comics, Kerrigan should be the sole Xel'naga by ~2511, which means the Zerg are still the Zerg and Humans are still Humans
from the history described, im convinced cyberpunk2077 takes place in this universe
what happened to earth and the UED
Far as im concerned, they weren't a dying civilization on their last leg. They will come back to the Korpulu sector soon or later. Niadra, the broodmother whose last order from Kerrigan was to "destroy the protoss", will use this second war to fight them.

im sure you can tell from the metrics. but ill say it anyways. i stopped watching once it got the sc2 parts. im almost certain that opening voice was reluctant because of exactly that.
this poor version of Humankind being in that alien-crowded verse and galaxy from all of their fronts....
Good thing they got sufficient stuffs to hold them off
@@thecommentguy9380 will not Unfortunately last. they still got to expand to level up their presence when it comes towards protoss and especially those zerg that gave them the most trouble just before this complicated messy 3-major group alliance came about.
@@CaptainPilipinas I think all Terran factions combine together are stronger than Protoss
@@survey9728 most of ALL well-known Human versions across fiction? or just starcraft's version of Human beings'?
(for a Second there, I thought, and was just about to bring up those like GA era/Distributary state Humanity, downstreamer versions, UNSC/UEG Humanity, those from the WH40K verse, etc for examples).
yes. but the psionic forces that builds up most of starcraft there would be a problem. the types that extends beyond their single galaxy if ever they were taking it seriously.
I mean, if these terrans would want to expand also and not just stop at those like the zerg and the protoss.
I dont know, it is only two alien civilisations divided into many subfactions, and the Protoss at least are usually open to diplomacy. I would say they have it much better than say, the humans of Halo, where in for the first 30 or so years after first contact, almost every alien species was united in a religious military alliance which was bent on the annihilation of humanity.
"EARTHER"
I wish SC2 didn't mess up so much the settings approach and narrative SC1 had put up. Blizzard shouldn't have made it devolve into the whole narrative they set up in SC2 and the player should have remained as the leading commander still not Raynor. They just cheapen the franchise and didn't let the ending allow potential for a next game. The approach and writing they had as a foundation should have remained. It just downgraded to a power fantasy.
you think that is worser? Lore-wise-speaking I mean.
(and I never even personally done myself for the diablo universe/franchise too!~).
we will do, whatever it takes to save humanity! our responsibility is too great to do any less.
these words would be cool if it were not spoken by a dictator :D
'-if it were Not spoken by a Dict-'.
"some Visarian Dog: "shush~...."'.
Slight objection: I’m 99 percent sure that Matt was the player character in sc1. Could be wrong
Right I think what people have gathered from SC1 plus broodwar:
Rebel Yell - probably Matt Horner
Overmind - unnamed cerebrate (killed during the next campaign by zeratul)
The Fall - Artanis
The Stand - unnamed executor (maybe Selendas)
Iron Fist - unnamed UED commander (killed at the end with the rest of the UED fleet)
Queen of blades - unnamed new cerebrate rescued by Kerrigan from UED overmind)
SC2 you play as the main chars themselves
Interesting I never thought of artanis as the pc maybe you’re right
Unlikely, Raynor actually mentions the player on the first game as 'Magistrate' and in the queen of blades novel he left Raynor's raiders, Matt would of been likely one of the crewmates among the Hyperion, the only ambiguous theory would Artanis being the executor of the first and Selendis being the one in Broodwar which is left unconfirmed. Forgot to mention Matt actually was on Char but was late which confirrms he's a separate from the player.
Why did kerrigan have to be the one who killed mengsk family? It complicated the story too much. Hearing that makes me less sympathetic to her. Unless she was under mind control 🤔
A vaguely dystopian UN
so no difference
'A vaguely UN-'.
'UCN/(ISA)/even a bit of ICSA era Humankind: "eh?...."".
Also the time dilation experienced when far away from earth. Its possibly earth could be in the 2600 or 3000 depending how far the sector is from earth.
Time is universal, not geocentric. Don't spread bullshit.
For some reason, when I watch "Tremors" (1988), the terrans from Starcraft comes to mind 😊
"Evil UN" is a bit redundant...
Pretty sure 7 billion to 23 billion is at least a 300% increase, not 190%

this lore sucks. Warhammer is so much better. makes the game Soo much less cool to watch tbh lol. Oh well I'll just pretend I didn't see it cuz the game is an amazing RTS
It’s definitely simplistic and more watered down but let’s be honest you could teach a phd class on 40k and you still wouldn’t understand or be done with half of it. The more is enormous and complex compared to sc2s pretty comprehensive story.
