This film has it all, the great Harry James, Helen Forrest and utterly spectacular dancing from the lone fabulously talented lady who kicks it off followed by an amazing ensemble of supremely good dancers -wonder who they all were and who choreographed them?Breathtaking stuff.
I think I read somewhere, whereby Harry James studied from a special trumpet book and went ahead and more or less learned it forwards and backwards. If they ever find this special teaching teaching book, it should be reproduced for all the the new trumpet students of the world.
Wow, you sure keep coming through with the great Harry James music. I sure wish we had some of this music on the radio today! Maybe folks would be a little kinder and more cheerful. Again, thank you sir!
The complete package! Tone, impeccable technique, and range🎺👏
As a kid, I threw Harry James under the bus, after seeing "The Harry James Story" movie.
I figured him to be a bum, so why bother?
The Great Big Band Area They were very lucky to live through that time.

Great band when musicians knew how to play if only we had talent like this in popular music today.
What a great band!!!
The way a Trumpet is Supposed to Sound. We try to Imagine what 'Harry' would sound like Today with more advanced Audio Systems.
Speaking as a trumpet player, there is nobody today with a sound as big as Harry's.
My dad, a WW2 vet, told me years ago that Harry was the best of all time. I have to agree

Some of the performance from this short was re created in a concert scene for the 1942 film Private Buckaroo which starred Harry James
Helen sure loved Harry❤

HJ was great, but I love Helen! 😍
Starts out with "Carnival Of Venice".
It starts out with Ciribiribin.
I recognize the pretty lady dancer from the Glenn Miller videos. She was talented too!!
By the way, thank for the wonderful upload!
Those boys are pre-war age kid dancers.

Is it known what brand trumpet, bore size, mouth piece maker? and size
@texasredneck9226 in 1941 Harry played a Selmer 23a with a .460 bore and a custom Parduba mouthpiece.
Ok that makes sense. I had heard he played Selmer but was not aware of the Parduba mouthpiece.
Thank you
@@texasredneck9226 Harry played a Parduba custom mouthpiece from 1939 until his death in 1983.
