    I flew Business Class roundtrip with Emirates from JFK on the A380 to Dubai and then to Seychelles on the 777.
    Then I flew their Business Class roundtrip from JFK on the A380 to Dubai and then to Maldives on the 777.
    Both of them were AMAZING trips. Far better than Business Class on ANA's "The Room" from JFK to Haneda to Bali. Far better than Business Class on Philippine Airline's A350 - 16 hours to Manila.
    Emirates just has superior service. BEAUTIFUL Model-quality stewardesses. My favorite Moet&Chandon Champagne. Excellent shower spa and excellent business class layouts/seating.
    The trick is that you MUST go on the app and get window seats. The center dual seats are OK - but you don't want to be in the row next to the galley or bar area. You also have to make sure you get the seats together if you're with a spouse. I've seen other people's flight's ruined because they got split up.
    On the 777 to Maldives, a woman and her adult daughter tried to get my window seat from me and I politely declined.

      Awesome! Definitely a great product now, as long as you can avoid the outdated products on a chunk of their routes. I'd definitely come back to fly them again!

    The first class lounge is on the lower level for 3 main reasons. 1) privacy like you said. Although the business lounge is more open and lofty, the first class lounge is cozy and intimate even though it's larger. 2) Because the terminal is arched, the higher you go the smaller the usable floor space. This allows the first class lounge to be slightly larger. 3) it allows for first class passengers to have the most seamless connection to the upper deck of the A380

    EMIRATES bread and butter is the A380. The amount of luxury that jet offers is unchallenged. It's huge, spacious and quiet. I think the A380 needs to be allowed to continue to exist.
    Emirates new A350 is basically the same business class seat you sat in moved from the A380 into the A350. The A350's benefit is that it's got longer range - basically able to fly from JFK to Singapore, Philippines, or other Southeast Asian locations NONSTOP. The downside is it's a single deck and less magnificent.
    Being able to fly NONSTOP from JFK to anywhere else in the world would be awesome for me, but I can deal with the Dubai stop since it's exciting and offers a chance to go out into the city.
    Without the A380, Emirates feels average.

    Sorry to be that guy but the California wine you mentioned is a product of Buena Vista located in Sonoma not Napa. Gorgeous winery well worth a visit the next time you’re home for a few days. Granted it’s a petty regional rivalry but the locals love to say, “Sonoma makes wine. Napa makes car parts.” 😂

    The Emirates A380 Business Class is awesome, but their 777 Business Class is an absolute disaster, they still have 2-3-2 or 2-2-2 configurations, only one 777 has been upgraded to the 1-2-1 Business Class similar to the A380 so far. And what is even worse, 90 % of the 777 with 2-3-2 configuration don't even offer fully flat beds, they are angled seats like a third world airline. You should avoid the Emirates 777 under all circumstances , they are noisy, uncomfortable and outdated, only acceptable on shorthaul flights.

    If you have the window seat and the mini bar is between you and the aisle, it's private enough to really enjoy sleeping in the bed. However, Japan's ANA does it better with the "room" in that you have sliding doors to make the space private regardless where you are sitting.

    I still don't understand why airlines alternate seats on the aisle versus the window. When I fly I want to be able to see out not be on the aisle. Your hot meal seemed a bit out of the ordinary since on other reviews the meal was a lot more elaborate and different. Oh well, thanks for the review....take care!

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  День тому

      It has to do with leaving enough space for the seat recline. In this setup, your feet go underneath the counter of the seat in front of you. By alternating every other seat, they can add extra rows of seats. I do actually know of some people who prefer these seats closer to the aisle however so that their belongings can be away from the aisle so they don't get scuffed, bumped, or even swiped (although hard to imagine someone trying that on a plane)

    Thanks for the video, Patrick. You got it wrong on oil wealth. The growth and development of Dubai (and Emirates Airline) has nothing to do with oil. Good leadership and superb strategy are the reasons why Dubai is what it is. When you have the time, read "50 memories from 50 years of service" by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. You will get a good understanding of the growth and development of Dubai and Emirates Airlines. Thanks for the candid and detailed review. The opulence of Dubai and Emirates always fascinates me.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  День тому +1

      Fair enough. Thanks for the info! If I'm not mistaken, they have had to borrow money from Abu Dhabi, of which it is mostly oil money, to keep things flowing seamlessly

    • @sebinamuwanga
      @sebinamuwanga 17 годин тому

      @@PatrickSheaAviation Thanks for the reply. Dubai borrowed billions of dollars from Abu Dhabi because it speculated too much and invested heavily in real estate. The credit crunch burst the real estate bubble and several expats that bet on property abandoned ship. Dubai had to borrow to remain afloat. However, it already had something to show regarding infrastructure and a first-class airline vibrant tourism industry. Some African countries like Nigeria, DRC, Angola, Sudan and South Africa have more mineral resources than Dubai and Abu Dhabi combined. However they are thin on infrastructure and where it existed, much of it is crumbling. Those countries have no first-class airlines to discuss as they have all fallen victim to poor governance. My point is that mineral wealth alone does not explain the development and opulence we see in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Qatar. It all comes down to leadership and governance.

    Dubai is also a massive hub for Emirates Australia/NZ network. Melbourne alone has 3 daily flights. Sydney similar. By the way surprised that your aisle seat doesn’t have the armrest rise like I’ve had on other BC seats that give some additional separation/privacy. Emirates meals are up there and equal with Qatar (imo). 2 of the best airlines n the world for catering. Although I feel the Qatar bar area appears/seems slightly larger than Emirates.

    Oil was not the reason why Dubai and the UAE had success. They have far less oil than most of the Arab states. I think that oil is maybe 10% of their GDP. Please check your Wikipedia facts more thoroughly.

    • @TacosTuesdays
      @TacosTuesdays 2 дні тому +7

      The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is among the world's ten largest oil producers. About 96% of the country's roughly 100 billion barrels of proven oil reserves are located in Abu Dhabi, ranking number six worldwide. The UAE produces an average of 3.2 million barrels of petroleum and liquids per day.
      A quick Google search found that. So if it's not oil then what is it??

    • @xr6lad
      @xr6lad 2 дні тому

      lol @ telling people to check Wikipedia for facts. A kid? Oil is the reason they have the money they have and the attempt at building a tourism and other industries is an attempt to diversify away from oil reliance for the future when their reserves run out.

    • @redademe
      @redademe День тому

      That may be true to some extent for Dubai (although Abu Dhabi bailed them out with oil money when they hit rock bottom in 2008), all other emirates are essentially dependent on subsidies from Abu Dhabi which is where the oil is concentrated.
      No oil no party no matter how they sugarcoat it.
