If you get 1919 or before they actually have more silver concentration (92.5%) than the us equivalent. Since they were still somewhat smaller than the us coins they contain .691 Troy ounce per dollar amount instead of .715
Great video there pal. You're lucky Canada has all those silver coins. Here in Ireland back in the day our coins had the queen's head on them so they were British. After independence the silver was slowly replaced by base metals. I'll still collect the queen's head but oh how I wish we had our own silver coins. Great video. I've recently started my own coin channel and I always subscribe to fellow coin collectors and stackers. Liked, subbed and 🔔
From my experience, Canadian coins from 1967 and before are 80% silver, 1967 centennial quarters are also 80%, some 1968 quarters (maybe dimes too but idk) are 50% silver and some are all nickel. You can tell the difference between the nickel and the silver by checking if it has a high pitch "silvery" sound or not when you drop it
Hi. Canadian dollar coins were never .500 silver. From 1935-1967 they were .800 silver. In 1968 they stopped using silver, and began using nickel to make the dollar coins. In 1967 some dimes and quarters were made with 80% silver, some 50%. In 1968, dollars and 50 cent pieces were all 100% nickel, however, some dimes and quarters were made with 50% silver in 1968, and some were 100% nickel. Beginning in 1969, no silver was used in Canadian circulation coins of any denomination.
Hi, in the 1965 High Bead Nickle, Does the Date Side or Face side have High Beads on it and does the Obverse Side have High Beads on it as well, yes i know there is another Nickle that is supposed to have Low Beads on Both Sides, But the way you Coin Sites have been showing it, IF it is the High Beads are on Both Sides and the Low Beads are on Both Sides, i have one that has High Beads on the Date Side and Low Beads on the Obverse Side, so would this be an error coin or not, PLEASE i need an answer for this???
USA mint silver coinage is alike in the same exact way. Our silver dollar is the same amount of silver as ten silver dimes and four silver quarters and two silver half dollars but our silver is 90% silver and that’s a low bullion grade.
This is by far the best video on silver and coins I have seen. Thank you. Is there any silver in nickels and what date would that be. I am new at this and just trying to learn for the future as the Americans have me worried about property. What about Gold?
Canadian "nickels" never contained silver, at least since 1922. 1921 and earlier 5-cent pieces (which are made of silver) are smaller in diameter and much rarer than 1922 and later. In fact the switch to minting in nickel in 1922 was what gave the nickel its nickname. The coin went through many different compositions through the years since then, but not once did they put silver in it. However, the Americans issued nickels containing silver for a time during World War II, they're called "war nickels" and contain 35% silver.
🤔You sound a lot like Jordan from the channel Bricksie, I am subscribed to his channel. “I appreciate the view guys” is something that Jordan says at the end of all his videos. So that fact that you sound like jordan and say the same thing at the end of your videos makes me think that this has to be Jordan from the channel bricksie. I subscribe to this channel because I not only collect and build with lego but also collect coins. 😲😀Ok he even says his name is Jordan, if he is the same Jordan from the bricksie/ jordbricks channel ( because he used to call his lego channel jordbricks before he changed it because of similarities)This is super cool if it is him because I did not know that you were into coin collecting I have been a long time subscriber of your lego channel, I really enjoye the videos you make.
I like these old canadian coins as well. 80% silver in each coin is not bad. Us coins are Made of 90% silver but 80% is still good if you buy this coins for their silver content. I have old dutch gulden coins until 1967 they are Made of 72% silver. But canadian coins or US coins are much better
I like using the name " confederation " silver As we are a democratic confederation .. dont like the junk name And USA 90% is constitution they are a constatuional democracy
I'm in the U.S. and I recently got a 1962 Canadian silver dime for change. Lucky me.

Very nice! Thank you!
Where can I find a a coin dealers in Ontario
Can you clean them up making them bighter?
Generally, its best to not clean silver especially junk silver such as this with any chemicals as it may damage the silver content of the coin 👍
Great information Jordan👍
great job
Not all coins dated 1967 are 80% silver. in the second half of 1967, the coins were 50% silver, 50% clad
Are there many coin shops in Canada?
Quite a few because of the output from the Canadian Mint! We are one of the premier collectible coin producers in the world!
There are quite a few in Toronto, you can order from them online as well west Edmonton coins
So same relative amt as US 90% coins of same denomination? 🐥

Fantasy coins are so beautiful.
Very interesting information
Very nice.
Hi, are you guys still open at West Ed?
Yes we are!!
How much 10 cents Canadian silver would worth and 5 cents, year 1965?
Give us a call at the store and we would be happy to let you know. Ask for Jonathan. (780) 444-1156
The 5 cent is made of nickel, it’s worth 5 cents. The dime is 80% silver, probably worth a dollar… 🇨🇦
What is the math for combination of Canadian junk silver would be needed to equal one troy ounce?
$1.70 face value
Can I exchange a 50$ bill at the bank by saying “exchange for pre 1967”?
How high were you while typing this?
If you could get a teller high enough to do it you would get about 1000 CAD worth.
theyve been stealing them back since 1967 to melt and store as bars
I love silver 😍
Tengo esa moneda se Bende?
Coming tommorow
What if you have dimes with a fish or rabbit on it.
The dime with the mackerel and the nickel with the rabbit were only issued in 1967. Some are 80%, some are 50%. Both issued for Canada’s Centenary 🇨🇦

Wouldve nice if you answered the questions

And we didn't do like the Americans did and for some daft reason have the dollar coin have more silver than an equal face value of smaller coins.
great vid check out my coins type in the coin cabinet i have 3 canadian vids on its under charles adkins

You can buy junk at nearly spot. Silver is undervalued, so it’s a good investment.
I like using the name
" confederation " silver
As we are a democratic confederation
.. dont like the junk name
And USA 90% is constitution they are a constatuional democracy
Interesting idea! "Junk" definitely doesn't give it a great sound. 😅
