    I also purchased this pedal set and, honestly, as soon as it arrived, the brake pedal didn’t feel right. Additionally, the signal was very limited, almost as if there was a physical blockage. Despite pressing hard, the signal range only went from 6000 to a maximum of 18000.
    So, I decided to study the pedal mechanism, the load cell, and the lever system. I noticed there was some play of a few millimeters between the plate and the ball on top of the load cell. Looking underneath the load cell, with the pedal flipped upside down, I found a set screw that could be tightened by at least two more turns.
    After making this adjustment, the feel improved immediately. The signal now ranges from 6000 to 32000, allowing me to fully utilize the load cell.
    I also replaced the stock spring right away with a 2 cm blue spring, adding an additional 2 cm spacer. As for the elastomers, I chose two blue ones, while I set the damper to 2/3.
    The only thing I don’t like is that the damper works in only one direction. I would have preferred if it also worked on the release, which would allow for more controlled trail braking.

    You are a legend for producing such in-depth reviews! This is the review I've been waiting for. In the past, pedal upgrades from the main Chinese brands always reviewed as a positive upgrade. So considering these are supposed to be Simsonn's latest and greatest, I ordered the full set of the Pro X pedals and accessories about 2 weeks ago, including the added heel plate. So they're currently somewhere on a ship between China and Australia and I should have them in about 2-3 weeks. I am HANGING out. I returned a PXN v12lite bundle with pedals a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the DD base started developing a noisy fan after a couple of weeks which seems to be a common issue. Besides the crappy fans, the PXN v12lite. I loved it Wheel and base felt EXCELLENT. I took the set back just wanting a replacement but they had none left in stock after the $699 AUD Xmas specials and the wait was a few weeks. Moving on, I instead forked out $999 AUD just for a wheel, a Logitech G Pro, and to say I Looooove it is probably an understatment!. So after perusing some reviews of previous Simsonn and Simjack pedals, i decided upon these believing it would be another upgrade. I had no interest in the RGB at all until you made me aware that they can be used to show the amount of pressure used on the pedals. I'm happy with the review but a little taken back by your negative impression on the brake, however, I have 3 different strength springs from a recent SimRuito load cell handbrake purchase, and they are 30mm long and 27mm diameter which im hoping will fit. Fingers crossed. On a positive note, I'll fiddle with that Brake pedal til it's just right
    Thanks again for the exellent review. I'm still very much looking forward to getting the pedals as it's an absolute pain to try and race with the accelerator and brake bindings on the wheel only. Forgot toemtiom toy.fellow.Aussies that this full set with all the goodies cost me.$416 AUD.shipped (Roughly $263 USD shipped as of today's exchange rate) Thanks again brother.

    I have to say the inclusion of a damper with an adjustable dial for me makes a pedal set much more versitile. Being able to move from a much stiffer to lighter brake with minimal effort is such a win.

    If you like more brake force and shorter travel i created a hack! Just place the rods one step higher -> elastomer stack will be there where the damper was and the damper is mounted behind the pedal plate. Keep the green and blue elastomers because the travel of the damper will be shortend and maxed out easily, try to prevent bottom out.

    i like that 2 stage feel. it helps me not lock up as much. but you can dial out the softer stage with more preload. they sell springs as an add on now too btw, if you wondered why. you know they ones they used to include :|
    its good to see them fill out their eco system. the new seq shifter and handbrake look good.

    I took a blue 40mm spring, the large green and small blue elastomer, damper on ~2.3 (with light shoes). Now it feels quite delicate. The damper gives a nice feel for the build up from where trailbraking ist very easy and precise. I do not recommend going higher because then it takes too mich time to build up brake pressure and your wasting meters. But i feel that some ms (~ damper on 2) helps to get a good feel. Just smash and then begin to modulate. The cars will feel stable under braking.

      And you can easily unscrew the rod and change elastimers from the top end. Way more easy than shown. :) Nice review.

    Thanks for this review. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on these Pro X pedals until I saw your notes about the brake pedal. After watching both of your reviews, It would be extremely appreciated if you provided a quick comparison between the Pro X and Pro Plus pedals (and which you prefer more). Especially when taking into account the spring replacement you recommended for both reviews. As of now, I'll be holding off in hopes that I'll see a reply or new video from you. Cheers.

    I received my Simsonn Pro Plus pedals about a month ago. Initial setup was a fair amount of work but I liked that. I am very happy with them, Freejoy was very helpful. My only issue with them is in Snowrunner. It's the only game that does not support USB pedals. I tried joytokey and mapped w to the throttle. It makes a sound as if it is accelerating but no movement. X360CE was very glitchy and took away force feedback from my wheel. Every other driving game they are fantastic.

    I'd really like a follow up as I am fairly new to such pedals (coming from G29) but I could feel that the Break needs modification. I am now tampering the load cell as it can be adjusted and see if this does anything. But I feel that the spring of the breaking pedal is its weakest point. But since I am new to this I am a bit to anxious just buying random springs/elastomers. So any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

    The resistance collar on the brake looks threaded. I feel like you could move it towards you to start the resistance stage a bit sooner, before it compresses the elastomer. It looks like a PITA no matter how you slice it, but appears that the adjustability is there. Maybe I'm wrong?

  • @clemfandango2379

    Hey @SimRacingCorner! I'd really love a vid on modding the brake to see what you can do. Curious, have you ever considered getting like 3 really small 20mm length die springs, that are all a different load rating, and one really stiff small elastomer at the end, like a 95a elastomer? So something like this:
    Yellow die spring - > Blue die spring - > Red die spring - > 95a elastomer
    My idea is this would give you a really progressive brake pedal, while maintaining the ability to modulate smoothly at the end of the stroke with the elastomer. Plus, as eslatomers naturally deform with constant pressure and relax, it might be more consistent with just the one single hard af elastomer at the end, as it wouldn't be compressing or relaxing as much.
    Just food for thought. You'd need more spacers/washers though, but I think it could give the best feeling. I know the VRS pedals just use springs, but perhaps the above configuration with the hydraulic rod at 1 or 2 might give the benefits of the VRS constituency without sacrificing the smoothness or nice sort of cushioned feel of having elastomers.
    Love ya content!

      "I can hear you, Clem Fandango".
      It's a different feel from springs, compared to elastomers. I have tried all-spring load cell brake mods before. And I always prefer the feel of elastomers, it's a more realistic sensation than what springs can do. I'm aware of the elastomer relaxing element, but I've never found that to be a problem. When you're braking, you're constantly adjusting the input, so I think it's possible to cancel that out. Personally, I find my braking control is better with elastomers, than springs. I can work with a hybrid spring/mostly elastomer setup, but not where springs are doing all the work. A 95a elastomer is pretty much rock hard, it's basically a spacer at this point.

      Glad someone else is a fan of Toast of London hahahaha
      That's a fair analysis! Eventually when I drop the money on the Simjacks or Simsonn's, I'll test it out with maybe an 80a elastomer.
      Would love to see what you can do to mod that brake regardless tho!

    Farily well balanced review. The operation of the pedals is sound, but the feel and usability of the brake is dissapointing. Thanks for putting the time in for the video. The exclusion of a heel plate is also a beg minus, I made one from a piece of wood I had. I will learn the lesson with these ones. I will replace this brake with an active pedal once they start to come to the market.

Another thing, I wonder if the simagic haptic pedal reactors will fit these particular pedals I’m interested in picking 2 of them

    Great review as always.
    I'd love to see a follow up vid about the modding potential of these pedals.
    Regarding the damper, personally I'm liking it a lot. I find I am able to adjust it to provide a better feel depending on what I'm driving.
    Level 1 is great for road cars and trucking sims, where you want a lighter pedal that doesn't require much pressure.
    Level 2 is good for H pattern race cars where I like a bit more resistance than a road car, but I can still get to the brake pressed down quick enough to be in good position for heel/toe.
    Level 3 is good for sequential gearbox cars where you'll be left foot breaking. It provides a good level of resistance that helps make pedal modulation easier, at least for me.
    The key is recalibrating the brake each time so that you can reach 100% at the desired pressure level for that particular setting and situation.
    Btw, is there any chance you tested if the control box will power Simagic or SimNet haptics?

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  5 днів тому +1

      Thanks! I will run out something soon on a basic spring mod.
      Although the control box has sockets for pedal motors, the Simsonn software doesn't support motors to run them (yet). So there's nothing you can do with those sockets. Also, we don't know what kind of motors they plan to support. Rumble or haptic. These operate differently to each other, so the software has to handle that too.

    The close shots of the brake action seem to show a lot of flex or motion at the mounting screw of the spring perch. That sure looks like a bad design if it is allowing that much action vs being s rigid base for the spring & elastomers. It looks like they may have included a pivot action for shaft alignment (like the throttle & clutch), but I'd say some tolerances or poor design leave far too much slop in the spring base.

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  3 дні тому

      I think I know what you're saying. That piece is meant to move the way it does. It's hard to describe, but those screws, hold the bracket that supports the rod. And that bracket is attached to the moving section that pushes into the brake load cell. Hence, the movement.

    The brake pedal damper is totally wrong. You never want damping on brake pedal depression because you want to hit peak pressure as fast as possible when getting on the brakes. You only might want damping on the pedal rebound as it is beneficial to come off the brakes slowly when trail braking. Also not having that damper attached to the loadcell is a major mistake. It defeats the purpose of a loadcell because it ensures that the loadcell will never just read the force being put in by your foot as some of that force will always be lost to the damper. Clear evidence that the people who made and engineered these pedals did not understand the complexities of how sim racing pedals should feel and operate.
    Seems like someone looked other pedal sets and tried to copy them without actually researching and understanding the purpose of each component. Cammus also made this same mistake with the damper.
    In order for this damper to function correctly, you would need to flip it around and find a way of still attaching the pedal to the ball joint, that way the damper would normally sit in a compressed state and when the pedal is pushed it would extend the damper instead of compressing it. That would result in the damping being on the pedal rebound, the way it always should have been. It would look pretty weird that way though. Better to just have a damper that functions properly.

    • @ginowild9979
      @ginowild9979 День тому

      I know what you mean. Up to 2 or 2.5 the pedal is reactive enough and believe it or not, if you mod your elastomer/spring stack, it could be beneficial for the braking sensation. Really. They do feel more hydraulic. Slam them and then modulate the release. But yes make sure not to lose the responsiveness by adding too much dampening.
