Some advice I could give to players that just started: -Enjoy exploring as the game progresses. Don't be intimidated on how big the map is. Pick up everything, fight every enemy. You do this, you don't need to farm for materials (I never had to farm for resources with the exception of those locked via Resin). Enjoy the story and the game's scenery. -Don't be pressured on who's meta and CONTROL YOURSELF to pull on banners. Pick who you think is interesting to you AND if the gameplay is to your liking. If you saw a character trailer and you go "hmmm, maybe i should pull", DON'T. As long as you have doubts or you didn't convince yourself immediately, DON'T PULL. -If you're absolutely, strictly, free to play, treat the game as if you're using one character, meaning focus on building one character. The rest of the team can follow, if you're able. Suggesting to have a DPS, Healer, Utility DPS, Utility Combo/Buffer/Healer composition; this composition is Jack of all trades; you can explore, fight bosses, take some abyss levels, IMO. You will get Barbara and Xiangling as the game progress, so you just need to decide your other two. -If you've come to the point that you're grinding, for anything, STOP because you're treating the game as a chore. Unless you ABSOLUTELY need to grind like for your main character or you can tell that you will play for a long time, DON'T grind. You will burn out quick. -Don't be pressured in "missing events" because of the rewards. If you dont want to play the game, don't force yourself or you will also burn out quick. -Don't pull on the weapon banner (unless you have farmed for enough Primos for your main character.) There are a lot of plenty good unlockable 4star weapons in the game. -Don't search online for walkthroughs unless you're absolutely stuck. I see some people online sugggesting to not craft for treasure or oculu compass since you can find their locations online but personally, it feels like a "spoiler" and again, it goes back to looking like chore. Again, enjoy the game and its contents. -Fragile resins are hard to come by; use it at a later Adventure Rank (45 if i recall), and use it for your main character. If i may suggest for farming resources using resin like domains: craft for condensed resins AND don't use it. Recharge your world resin first. Once recharge, then you can take on domains at your leisure. Just do 5 battles each day (since you have max 5 condensed resin) and stop, and recharge your resin for another 5 condensed resin crafting the next day. The 5 resin farming a day is also a way to not burn you out. Hope this helps. I also take fairly long breaks from the game but I always come back when I'm ready to play again.
This is honestly the best advice for a new player imo. Genshin is way more enjoyable when you can explore and complete story quest at your own pace. As a f2p, saving your summons for when you REALLY want that character can make a world of difference as well.
I agree with the event one, i hate missing out on events ESPECIALLY if they have important lore or character interactions in them, and it's way more fun to get to experience it for yourself instead of watching the story on UA-cam. I wish we could get the chance to do old events, even without any rewards. I just want to experience the story and learn more about the lore 😭
@@kuyarence that advice is not only bc of the abyss. you should have two or three teams to counter resistances. example: if you have neuvifuri team it can clear almost anything easily, but hydro cube and oceanid exist too.
I got a C6 Faruzan from pulling for Wanderer. And it wasn’t until almost a year later that I built up Faruzan and pair her with Wanderer for that sweet, sweet Anemo SHRED.
Quick tip regarding pulling for 4 star characters: I will sometimes gamble a few pulls on a banner for an important 4* if I need them or a key constellation. What I do is I choose whichever 5* character I want the most out of my options, and I ask myself "If I got this character in 20 pulls, would I still be happy?" Like, I don't love Nilou, but if I had her I would build her and try to put a team together for her. If I get her in, say, 30 pulls, I'm happy. I don't consider that a waste. And if I get my first Kaveh along the way, then bonus. That being said, I only really do this if I'm facing a 50/50. I never gamble with my guarantee on a 5* I don't want. I'm a sometimes-Welkin player, so I can't afford to blow a guaranteed limited 5*. However, if I'm facing a 50/50, worst case is I get my 50/50 out of the way for only 20 or 30 pulls. Otherwise, just be patient. You'll probably get that 4* randomly either on the standard banner off free battlepass and sigil wishes, or randomly off a limited banner. I think I've actually gotten most of my first 4* pulls that way. Best of luck to everyone.
Yes this is what I do because some 4 stars are more valuable than many of the 5 stars in this game. If I did not have Kuki for example I would definitely pull on a Kuki banner if at least one of the 5 stars was pretty decent. If the banner has multiple 4 stars I might like some constellations on, then I might even go to soft pity. Anytime you get a 5 star before soft pity it is still a win. Avoid the weapon banner unless it is an incredible weapon banner where both the 5 and 4 stars are valuable. For a new player the Fav, Sacrificial, Widsith, Stringless, or Tulaytullah series of weapons are extremely valuable. I would also save Masterless Starglitter for specific characters like making sure you have a Bennett and Fishcl. I regret getting the shop weapons as I have only ever used them for maybe a month and never again for over 3 years. These days you can just use Lisa, Fischl, Dendro MC, and any anemo and you have a cracked team right there. Another mistake I regret was destroying the 3 star weapons you can get in the world like White Tassel and Skyrider Greatsword.
Yeah, the important thing to remember: You do not build pity while pulling on a banner. You only risk the pity you already have. Only after the fact, when you are done pulling, can you look upon the "built pity" consolation prize. Also, when you click to pull on a banner for a four star, and you wind up getting the five star, you did not accidentally get the five star. You purposely clicked on something with a chance of getting that five star, and you got it. It might not have been the result you wanted, but it wasn't an accident.
Exactly this, perfect It’s all about “would I be happy with the result if I get a 5 star going for 4 stars” That was the Nilou banner for me, I got her to C3, but still only got 3 Kirara pulls in the end (after about 540 pulls)- mind you I wanted to get as many Nilou cons as possible primarily and Kirara cons were a bonus
@@AzureDrag0n1 My account is 1 year old and basically only lack 3 chars of 4 stars : Thoma, Yunjin, and Xinyan. There are a lot of chars that can be used for something, even if it's just material compass for specific region. We also need to build them for Imaginarium Theater anyway (just level 70 with some talents, bare minimum weapons, and 2 piece set artifacts) so it's good for new players aiming 4 stars but again prioritize the Tier S first like Xingqiu, Fischl, etc. Destroying 3 star weapon is not actually a mistake BUT you need to make sure they are the common banner trash you can check on gacha history, not White Tassel indeed.
extremely solid advice - the ayato-cyno banner had an INCREDIBLE set of 4 stars (kirara, kuki, xiangling) but I knew that both 5 stars would never be used, so the banner was completely skipped charlotte, chevreuse, mika, C1 beidou and 2 heizou cons were obtained from standard while C0 kuki and C1 sucrose were from weapon banner, so everything can and will eventually make its way back when the time is right. stay strong to have as little regrets as possible so that the unexpected 4 star tastes extra sweet
For the love of Barbatos, new players: PLEASE, DON'T DO THINGS JUST BECAUSE OTHER SAUD SO!! If you hear X people hates Venti,hut you like him then don't care about it. Don't hate on characters just because other do,and vice versa, don't love them just because others do. And don't listen to others if they bully you,if you like playing amber and people say she's trash and you are,so what? They're the ones tha are thras for bullying you,and don't stop playing her just because of that comment. After all, likes are for satisfying yourself,not others. Love yourself and respect others.
@@vel5785 I just used both of them together in Imaginarium Theater, and Venti was on field just as much as Kazuha, and more use at grouping enemies because his burst lasts longer. Also, I have a permanent Venti team in my party setup with Fischl, Yoimiya and Kokomi, because abyss floor 12 is like 0.01% of the game.
That's why I check multiple videos, to have an idea of who to look out for. I figured out for myself that Amber isn't horrible but get I that she's not ideal for fast combat. But she is great for beginners. Bunny helped a lot when facing scary opponents. I also learned about how Lisa is usually support. I get why. But she became my DPS as soon as I got Xiangling. I really enjoy overload.
Everything I was reading said Amber was a weak character and not worth anything, but I enjoyed playing her and decided to "waste" my time and resources on her. Once I decided that, I stumbled across a bunch of videos and commentary saying how under-appreciated Amber was. :)
Tip from a veteran, when pulling for limited character/with premium currency support five stars will add more value to your account compared to DPS character.
Yeah but if you need a dps and Arleady have good support you should go for dps (unless you don’t like the character and prefer the support bcs like doro said we should play the character we want)

That is wrong. All supports have powerful 4* substitutes. Even nahida. Limited 5* dps are vastly more powerful than standard counterparts. The only exception is furina but mostly because she is dps and support in one. Furina and nahida are the only supports i would rank higher than dps and nahida only if you want to build hyperbloom or burgeon. Kokomi, Baizhu, Shenhe are luxury units. Xianyun is niche and requires a dps in the first place. Especially in the early game a good dps will carry you through everything. I had to do use c0 noelle because the game didn't give me any dps until ar 45 or something. That wasn't fun and I had furina who was almost all my damage. Baizhu and kokomi are complete luxury pulls.
Some things i wish i did differently are: 1. Do your darn story quests! I ignored them for the longest time and now i have this huge backlog of them thats pretty overwhelming (also hangout events aswell ive only done like 3 of them 😭) 2. Dont be afraid of a challenge! I didnt finish the drgaonspine world quest until i was in inazuma because i just hated the sheer cold mechanic and the challenging mobs there, i wish i did it sooner 3. Dont pull on the weapon banner! Im strictly f2p and i've been playing for 1 year. I have never used a single pull on the weapon banner because its just a huge scam atp, focus on getting the characters u want first 4. Dont get caught up in going for constellations for 4 and 5 star characters! Spend ur pulls on getting new characters instead because over time you'll naturally get 4 star constellations from pulling on other banners 5. Dont neglect your weapon and talents! They by far have the biggest damage increase for the lowest resin investment! 6. Choose wisely which characters to level up to 90 first! Characters scaling with attack or hp dont get a significant damage increase from getting to 90 while characters like kuki or kazuha get as much as 30% damage increase. 7. Dont neglect weekly tasks like bounties or bosses, they have very valueable rewards! (Im very guilty of this ☠)
I kinda wish there was a way to replay the story without needing to make a new account. I want to reexperience everything. It pulls on your heart strings a bit. Its such a good time.
I'd say do the Dragonspine quests as soon as possible (world level 0), especially a particular time battle trial at the bottom of the mountain that unlocks the world quest to get to the top of the mountain... Bloodyhell that trial still gives me nightmares
Id actually say dont do it as early as possible.I remember I tried to do it when i was...around ar 16? i dont remember the exact ar but it was around that point and i failed.miserably. I think you need to have your characters a little bit built first, and understand the game mechanics ect. If you want to get it over with, atleast get someone to help you with it in coop.Dragonspine is a really annoying location and as someone who has it maxxed, the annoyance can make it HARD sometimes.
@@riomadar what I somewhat mean is, do it early on in the game before the first world level change, and have your characters above lvl 30 so you still have a chance to beat some of the annoying sections of Dragonspine.
For oculi, the best not tiring way is to get them as you go and find the rest with the craftable locator. Using the interactive map for that can be painful since it's not in sync with your progress so it will lead you to empty spots and there are loads of them.
What I do is explore the map freely, and when I stumble upon an oculi, I just mark the location on my map (not the interactive one, the in-game map). Then, when my regular exploration is over - I turn to the interactive map just to find the oculi I'm missing, referring to the marks on my in-game map for the ones I've already found. I find this the best for myself, because I'm not gimping my exploration experience, and when I'm done there are just a few oculi left so going back with the interactive map is pretty quick. The only problem is the limited amount of marks you can do on the in-game map. But new regions come in parts, so you don't get all the oculi in a single patch so it's usually fine.
I started genshin in 2021. Recently I have had problems getting into that account and so I made a new one about 3 months ago. I am currently draining every single primo from every region. I do not go to a new region UNTIL everything is maxed. Including exploration, quests, and my reputation rank. I am sitting at AR 50, with exploration in only Liyue and Mondstadt. I am working on clearing the newer place of Liyue and then I will move to Inazuma. I say my strategy is working quite well.
I always hear people insist on using the interactive map and marking down everything, and I get why that would be preferably for some people. I was the same way a while back because I never wanted to miss anything. But now I'd have to disagree as to its importance. At least for me personally, constantly marking down and tracking things makes exploration feel like a chore and it takes me out of the game. Mark down all the oculi for Mondstadt and Liyue, absolutely, because they're important for stamina. But past that, if you're someone who delights in immersive exploration and stumbling across things, I'd argue you'd be better off not using the interactive map. I use it almost exclusively for farming routes nowadays and I enjoy exploration a lot more. Not only that, but it gives actual importance to the treasure compasses and oculi resonance stones which, if you enjoy traveling and farming for resources in the open world like I do, gives you more to look for and collect to craft them. Ultimately, you're given tools within the game itself to find almost everything. Realizing that and embracing it has made me love exploration and even pushed me to upgrade my reputation levels more than ever.
I highly agree, using the trackers built in game are tons more fun, I wanted to get all the Aranara but there is no tracker so I went into the map and started going from top to bottom and got tired almost instantly. To rest I went and got to 90% of all chests in Sumeru. I still haven't gone to get all the Aranara yet gotta get to that one day lmao. Btw, yes I have 100% of chests everywhere except for Sumeru and Fontaine, and I did it all with treasure trackers. And it's mostly cause I didn't know the map existed till way later, and when I did I didn't wanna use it cause I'd end up finding a whole lotta nothing for a really long time. Just like 1 or 2 tiny lil missing chests here and there and that's it lmao.
I don't understand why the exception to your rule is the Oculi - effectively the only resource in the game that Genshin flat out tells you where it is by using the relevant item.
@@mattandrews2594 No kidding 😂🤣🤣 Oculi's are the easiest thing to find in Genshin, most of them are out in the open or obtained by doing the time trial challenges cause they're just placed along their path. And you don't even need an item to know when you're near one either, so why make that exception? My exception would be when looking for the Aranara, and just that, not even when looking for local specialties cause if you got a character that can find them you just gotta follow the hands on the mini map and you'll be able to grind every item in the game at the same time :3
Personally i'd also use it for puzzle chests that doesn't show up from compasses. There are a few cryptic chests that u probably wouldn't think of doing the thing u need to for said chests. A great example is the chest u get for breaking the pots that doesn't glow wen using elemental sight
I'm just starting a new account because my main is pretty much done, and I'd recommend just to pull whoever you want (unless you're planning on playing meta), that's what I did on my main and, even if I don't have the best characters, I have the ones I enjoy the most. And also, not rushing is very important - taking breaks, and just doing whatever you feel like doing that day (exploring, doing quests or just log in to do dailies/events) and, even if you don't want to play for a week or a month or for as long as you want, that's completely fine. And well, that's pretty much it 💓 Oh, and also, remember to try and do the weekly comissions so you get the rank higher. I was ar55 on my main and I had completely forgotten about those. I had to work a bit to get to level 10's as I had still to do the 4 regions available at that time.
watch the "demo" of the characters and see if any of them catch your eye. Once you know the chars you like, you can then plan when are they expected to appear in a banner and save primos in advance. Don't let people tell you "this character is not meta", as every single character in genshin is "usable" as long as you put the investment and effort into those characters.
I would start one new account even now, if it was possible to skip all dialogs (and the cutscenes too, if I want) . I'd just need an option "no dialog at all" somewhere. That's the main things that keep me away from doing it all again: having to click trough a lot of dialog I already red it's a really big waste of time.
There were so many good points that I agree with. I will say however sometimes with story the only reason I want to get it done a little quick is to avoid spoilers. I try to mute everything and not watch certain creators till I'm done but somehow I've still managed to have the story spoiled for me 😢.

@@traplegend5065 HSR has gotten from "oh my god, this is my MAIN gachagame" in a few patches from 1.4 onwards to "nah, just a sidegame. Only the events and main-story is fun, the endgame is powercreep fiesta". Very sad to see.
HSR mehr you regret spending money on a character after just two patches where in Genshin getting a character you really like will still feel amazing years later
Honestly its the opposite for me, idk why even though ik hsr respects my time much more than genshin does. Still, maybe that's cuz it's been exactly half a year since I joined hsr as of writing this. And ive been playing genshin for 3+ years, so maybe i just like restarting genshin cuz it brings back nostalgia from when I actually enjoyed the game and had fun (and wasn't burntout)
You also arent gonna have a lot of money at the start. If you see a gold color bubble, run it til your world resin is depleted and than stop. Its expensive to level up and ascend your characters, their artificats, and weapons. Therefore, you can gain some money because at the start, you're limited. From my experience at least. Pick up anything and everything. Even the pincones. You'll need em. Food heals you but your character can only eat so much. Find a healer or start playing the game like its dark souls. Once your character is full, no food, no food means no health, no health means death.
Yup, that's why i only buy welkin because i enjoy the story, i need game like this so i can relaxing from my work and stop smoking, better spend money for welkin each month then smoking😊
One thing I like to tell myself a lot is, yes, there are characters that are significantly better than others but if you put time into building a character and giving them a good team comp you can make most characters pretty good. Yes, there are better options but a lot of times you don't have them available.
Im kinda of a new player, my tip is: meet someone who already plays it. I actually started the game around the time Amazon still gave rewards on the prime gaming, but i dropped at the start due to the HUGE headaches from the amount of strange numbers at the character screen (seriously, the devs should block a lot of the things there, and slowly explain it as you level up) Years later, im back to the game (maybe on the best moment possible), and because of a friend who's hypeing/helping me about all the stuff. Farming, exploring, and making secondary missions is way better with a friend than by yourself (and easier since he's high level 🙃)
about tracking oculuses, just do it freely as long as you mark them on the map after collecting it, then when you feel like a oculi rush, look for a thorough guide and just move to ones you haven't collected 😊
Or don't worry about it because once you get a certain reputation level you get an item that helps you find them I hate having to open my phone or computer separately from the game to look for or mark down chests/oculi That should be in game if they wanted us to use it Same with online events On console you have to scan a qr code with your phone then log in a 3rd party site to do the event all a big security risk I feel All of that should be reachable within the game
@@belliebeltran4657 that aint true its more like 2-3 weeks for the resonnance stones at most lets say 1 month. You are not supposed to grab every oculis after 1 month so just chill and enjoy the history.
@@Thugga_Thugga You need about 600 reputation points in average to level up statues by one (except mondstadt and liyue), and you only get 420 points each week. So unless you're doing a lot of quests, it's gonna take a lot of time to get it to lvl 8 where the resonance stone blueprints are.
I admit, i dont watch alot of genshin Content on UA-cam, but i think this is the first time i heard an experienced player say just pull for you want and dont play the meta if you dont want so. Thats pretty refreshing 😅
I did so many of these things correctly back when I started at 3.7 on Alhaitham rerun banner. I pulled for him at the time bc I was thinking I should go for characters that are known to be good and I got it. I built characters around him first but at the same time I was trying to build a second team which was ok cuz there was a lot of contents before to get exp mora and primos from it was just tiring. I would find myself feeling burnt out when I should have been playing for fun but I guess thats just me haha. Building around Al was a good decision for me as I progress through the game I realized how important some 4 stars are compare to what I initially thought. What I wish I did do or knew was how massive the value some 4star characters has and some 3&4 star weapons are really good not just for newer accs. Also ER matters, I was only thinking of getting cr and cdmg but getting the right amount of ER for some characters was a game changer for me.
My advice: As soon as you can turn your world level down, do. Just one level. Do main quests and world quests until you are blocked by your AR before doing the Adventure Rank tier quests. There's so much in this game if you are focuses on min/maxing it you will miss out. So don't stress yourself. I'm F2P and I wish on both the banners (though I only use my primogems on limited banners) because I get more whatever-the-heck-it-is (the middle redeem option) than I can spend on the 5 wishes of each type we are limited to a month. Yeah, don't spend your primogems unless you are excited about the 5-star on the banner, but also...you'll get more primogems. Search for redeem codes. I have a lot of great characters (building an A team and a B team up fully) and I have spent ZERO.
If I could restart Genshin again, I would read the rules and study the game's functions. I was so clueless for the first few months one year ago. I thought it was like Devil May Cry since in those games, you can power through without upgrades. I was super wrong.
@@tomekk2091 I made it to the Tartaglia boss battle and learned I wasn't strong enough. I proceeded to upgrade the characters and then learned about weapon and talent upgrades. It took a lot of torture and one broken TV for me to understand.
Honestly I think the clueless period is precious, you can’t really get back the novelty of the game when you break it down into guides Knowing how to stay alive and deal damage is good, pacing yourself is important
As a new player that just got to AR40, the only time i use the interactive map is when im almost getting to level 10 on a statue, so i blindly explore the map whenever i see something glowing and i think it makes the game more fun. Got all of those anemoculus and almost all of those geoculus. Then im good to go to Inazuma.
@@yingyau708 you don't lose anything because you can't reset your account. You either start a new account with a new email or you switch servers on your same account.
When picking up animocules etc, if u dont want to use interactive map from the start, you can pin their location on ingame map as you collect them and later mark them on interactive map.
as an f2p, this is actually untrue/ semi true and here is why (dont follow if you are new/dont yet have 3 seperate abyss clearing teams): 1) when you play in the long term, you will gather a lot of characters and only piling up their cons will not be as effective because limited 5* cons are rare. 2) there is only so much optimization you can do with artifactmaxxing (i made that term up) 3) a lot of potential is usually locked up behind weapon banners 4) its 2 50/50's is not that bad because you see, if you get a standard weapon you will be guarenteed to get a limited weapon later, which you can make the most out of in weapon banners with great weapons, such as the hutao/neuvi banner, where getting either of their weapons is quite the upgrade to almost all characters 5) a few characters like alhaitham, cyno, emilie, itto, baizhu etc value c0r1 more compared to their c1 6) a few weapons make great value: freedom sworn, elegy's end, wolf gravestone, sobp are great for buffing your team whereas lofi,homa, tome, scarlet sands staff, aqua and mistsplitter make great dps (and by that i mean they are the only more better universal 5* options if they arent these then dont bother pulling) 7) fashion impact 8) its soft pity starts much faster and the hard pity is 80 no im not trolling, having 2 staves of homa and 2 freedom sworns and a lofi (i also have the wanderer bell but havent gotten a character to use it yet) really makes the spiral abyss easier to beat and i gathered them overtime. the only bad pulls i got from the weapon banner were 2 aquila favonia and a skyward atlas but it works a charm on bennet so its alright, and yae miko's 2nd best in slot if skyward (hoyo pls give me wgs) Edit: fate points are just a failsafe if you are actually trying to get the only 5* at once and "right here right now emerge" instead of using your fates on it slowly only on good weapon banners, the 50/50 loss carries over but if you win the 50/50 on a limited weapon it means you won and case closed and the slim chance that you "win" the limited weapon you dont want twice, it can help you. needless to say if you have gambling addiction then seek professional help

Bro I've pulled so much on the standard banner as a new player then I went to yt to check on some tips and stuff only to find out people consider it an abomination to spend primos on the standard banner
It is sure much more fun when you can't use primos on one character because you're saving for someone who MIGHT come 2 patches later. Also, a tip from someone who started over. Abyss can be hard for new players even on lower levels, but having Xiangling is a blessing. The moment you see her on a banner, you pull and hope that you get her. There is this whole hysteria about her being on way too many banners, but than again new players always come and they might just need her to be able to do certain challenges.
One thing for the eager new players to take note of is: ignore the abyss, or at least the lower floors. The lower floors are better for more seasoned accounts, so just concentrate on building a party that’s strong enough for the overworld first. Build your supports (get an archer). Build a 4 star DPS to start with. Another thing: really restrict your pacing by going with commission count and the bp count - if you max out the daily commission count, then stop there for the day. I plan out my daily genshin stuff based on what I can do for the bp. (The second tip might be more applicable to older players tho who try not to get burned out but maybe newer players wanna try this too)
At least for spiral i'd at least attempt it til floor 4. But just don't go crazy and feel like u have to win. Floor 4 mainly bc thats wen freebie charas aren't given out afterwards
The only reason I haven't built any archers is because I absolutely suck at aiming and shooting in any sort of timely manner without the mobs interrupting me. Bow characters are a style of play that I have never been able to master.

The point about leveling up your 4* and supports needs to be said more. I cannot emphasize enough how much impact having a fully realized Bennet and Shinobu is to an account. Bennet's value is easy enough to see but after I built Shinobu, it's like I unlocked an entirely different part of the game when using her with dendro teams. The same goes for other 4* in other elements like Rosaria for budget freeze teams and Sucrose for those that don't have Venti or Kazuha. As a side note, I even built an only 4 star team with Heizou, Thoma, Xinqiu, and Shinobu so I could play the Avatar in the game. There's a lot you can do to make the game fun to play without needing to break the bank so don't sleep on your 4 stars people.
refine your weapons/artifacts, just do it, youll do zero dmg if you dont its not a waste, you cannot farm good artifacts for months anyway char levels matter less, most of the stats are from weapons and gear
If I could replay the game, I wouldn’t do the story as quickly as I did. Started in 4.3 and got to Fontaine in a couple days. Wish I took my time with it instead. It wasn’t because I needed to catch up but because I enjoyed the game too much 😂
The best way to enjoy is to do the Archon quests in a region and after that finish the major world+story quests of that region before going to the next one. I always followed this and trust me it is rewarding. It is a far more better approach compared to doing the archon quests of all regions 1st then moving onto the world quests. You will get mad if you binge play all those voiceless world quests later. 😅
For 2:50, some players tend to prefer to not have another app/tracker open whenever playing games. If you are one of them, I would still suggest to pin your collected oculuses (or any other notable collectible) using the in-game map so that once you reach a point that you want to 100% your statues/trees/etc., you can just open up the interactive map once then you can reflect your pins there. That is personally what I do since I do like finding things naturally while I explore. It's only when I want to 100% things would I use the interactive map to find the few ones that I missed.
As someone who did in fact start Genshin a little over 4 weeks ago, I can confirm that all the tips are solid and also conclusions that I came to naturally. The only artifact farming I did before 45 was for Mualani and Kachina's artifact sets at around 44. I wish I didn't spend primos on Mualani/Kazuha's weapon banner though because I got Kazuha's sword but I wanted Mualani's ball and now I'm constantly torn between going all the way for it before the pity gets wasted in a week or so.
I would not force myself to read dialogues. After almost 4 years of playing I realised that story is not the only thing that is interesting for me. I still like the lore, the main story, and I'm really hyped to see the new archon quests. And even these long world quests like aranaras are quite interesting for me. But I used to read every single line in every single quest and it became so overwhelming that at some point I started skipping even main quests. Now I know that it's okay to not like dialogues, especially now when they become longer and longer. I do not read character story quests because they became NPC story quests, and don't feel bad for it even if I like the character. There ARE quests that are not worth your time, and it's okay to skip them.
Only if they could add a skip button... requesting for almost 4 years, started in feb of 2021. Stopped playing 7 months ago. Been f2p but managed to earned 100k primos and lost 40k trying to c6 Xiao. Only earned c1 but quited the game after. I did not regret playing the game, but if a new player reads this. Do not pull for the character you like, end game is always designed for new characters.
When considering whether to pull on a banner, always consider BOTH the 4-stars and the 5-stars. NEVER pull for just either of them, especially if you're trying to be f2p. Research the characters you're interested in; rather than focusing on how "good" they are, learn what their roles are and how they benefit a team. When starting off, focus on getting older characters first since those will be the easiest to build. Last thing you want is to get Raiden while you're still doing the Mondstat archon quests; you might wing it early on but your Raiden might get quickly left behind if your AR outpaces your quest progress.
I'd say, if you want to collect every single chest don't use the interactive map but follow a video guide instead, the map is sometimes confusing and misses a few chests. Another thing is to take note of every single world quest you complete because the game doesn't keep track of them and in the reputation you won't find all of them.
Yes. Me planning Qiqi+Dehya melt team is also meta, because it's my meta. Despite both of them being the butt of all jokes in Genshin community. Build whatever you like, threat the game as a playground, not a second job/school. Burning YaoYao team can and should be your meta, because ultimately the meta is having fun.
My greatest regret is the fact that I didn't know Ningguang's skin was temporary free, because it was the first character skin I saw. I couldn't finish the event because one of the quests (which I couldn't complete because there was a fight and I kept loosing) was blocking npc, and while at first I was just annoyed, later I finally realized I missed the skin forever 😢
"Never wish for 4 stars". That's at the same time the most common, and the most stupid take people make on genshin. You said it yourself : pull characters you like. 5 stars are absolutely not necessary in that game. If you agree that pulling for meta is stupid, then telling that 5 stars are always a priority over 4 stars is a nonsense.
Umm no, “never wish for 4 stars” is not a stupid advice. It’s not that 4 stars aren’t good or anything, it’s that 4 stars characters are never guaranteed, unlike the limited 5 stars which has a pity guarantee, 4 stars also as a pity guarantee but it was split into 3 evenly, you only has 33% chance of getting 4 stars you wishes. I’ve seen people going through to get C2 on a 5 stars until they got the 4 stars they wanted.

biggest advise i would give is don`t rush, when i first started i got so into exploring doing story and all side quests i ran out of things to do and ended up playing afterwards praying for updates only to consume any new content in day 1 and sit again, until i took a break middle sumeru and came back after entire fonatain was out again did same mistake rushed it too fast and now came back gaina just to do act 1 and 2 from natlan, will just do daily comissions now to save for pyro archon

As someone who started relatively recently in 4.2, definitely take your time and enjoy the whole game. Having 4 years worth of updates to sink your teeth into was amazing. I remember opening the map for the first time and seeing all the locked areas and be blown away by the scale of everything around me. Nowadays I'm caught up with only 3 character story quests to tackle, but the 8 whole months it took to get to this point was a great time. ALSO SAVE YOUR FRAGILE RESIN! Trust me, getting that prototype rancour to level 50 two days sooner is not worth it!
Now I see no harm spending money on a game you sincerely enjoy. Just have self control and keep a budget or don't spend at all. Self control big one here and I do agree don't spend If you can't afford it or have zero self control. It's ok to like a character and not pull for them or skip for somebody you want far more. 😊
I have a good tip for collecting the Oculus' for each area! As you're running around and you come across one as soon as you pick it up open up your map put a marker on it and tag it "found". Then at some point when you have time you can go to the interactive map and just mark off all the ones that you've already gotten. It's so much easier than doing it the other way around and using the interactive map to mark them all in the game in the first place imo.
Also, don’t aim for the big number damage that get posted to shorts.. it costs a lot of money/time to get damage that high. And the game is more fun when your actually fighting instead of one shooting bosses
As someone who has seen media and videos about genshin but has never played, I really enjoyed this guide (I don’t play cuz I got too many games already T-T and am scared the game will crash on my phone)
About the monetary pointers: Gacha is designed to be predatory. Control is absolutely key, and if you can maintain control in whatever situation you are (f2p, semi-f2p or even semi-whale with a set spending habit) it's fine. Once you give in to the gambling it starts to become risky. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with spending some if it gives you additional joy. Either as semi-f2p (Belkin and/or BP) or the occasional Crystal pack. I am semi-f2p and have bought the lower top-ups (up to 15), which I bought primarily to reward myself for special occasions (and no, finishing the work day is not a special occasion). This keeps it fun and gives a bit more chance to get stuff you want, you aren't outright buying it. Tl;dr. Control.
My pro tip for new players: Get and Build properly 5* Kazuha, Furina and Nahida then for 4* Bennett Xiangling Xingqui then slap on any characters / dps you want.
I am a newer player at AR 35 and accidentally used all my fragile resin because I misunderstood the clip of you using yours and primos to refill your regular resin and I had 2400 regular resin after 💀😭 I think the wm and bp are worth it. I learned you can teleport to Natlan even though I’m not there in the story yet so I can earn the limited time rewards. This was a really helpful video!
if I started in 2024 (wall of text inc): - build characters that make overworld travel easier. there's a lot of top meta picks that also are top tier for exploration, like yelan or kazuha, but even if I didn't have those characters, i'd probably put more resources into characters like lynette. almost all of this game is played in the overworld and having characters that can traverse faster are more valuable than just focusing on spiral abyss. - don't be afraid to vertically invest in your favorite units with constellations. while it's always fun to get a new character, they might end up collecting dust, when you could have made your main carry 20-30% stronger instead. This is especially true for newer units, who tend to have pretty crazy power spikes in their early constellations. - spend more time testing a character out in test run before pulling for them. you could read a million guides that say how good a character is, but if they don't feel good to YOU, then it's not worth it. there's a few meta units that I pulled for that I never use just because they feel clunky or slow to me. - "building pity" is okay but only if you're okay getting the banner unit. there's a couple characters that I accidentally pulled early while trying to get 4 star cons that I don't regret getting at all. However, I have some limited 5 stars that I'm never going to touch from "building pity", and I absolutely wish I could get the primos back from those.
Be patient is the best advice. I went from Dehya as my only 5 star to having 6 S-tier 5 stars from welkin/BP. Just gotta be patient which is never easy 😅
I started playing because I liked Venti but stayed for other characters as well as Venti, my biggest regret is waiting to play the game at first or just going extended periods of time without playing because I missed out on so much limited content. I also didn’t level up my artefacts, weapons or skills until later so I got frustrated at how weak my level 40 characters were compared to the enemies or other players of the same level I miss the earlier days where everything was fresh and new, I still had mountains of content to enjoy in Mondstadt and Liyue other than 100%ing the exploration that gets tedious after a while. I saw a comment that the keys for character quests should let you replay limited story events or replay chatter quests you have done, kinda like the hangout quests. I hope that becomes a thing in the future!
I relate with the "be f2p" thing cause I'm mainly f2p (besides using $10 + welkin) and I recently got my 5th 5 star (not including anniversary) and it just felt so great I also made the mistake of skipping through the liyue quest, too..
My advice is for new players to only increase their world level if the main story requires it, or until they are absolutely certain their character builds are powerful enough to contend with the higher scaling. You can lower your world level, but only by one, so if you get too ahead of yourself to get some extra wishes and rewards, there's no backing it up.
I'd intentionally foreshadow myself story-wise to be able to immerse myself into the story more. I pretty much skipped everything at the beginning thinking it'd be a mid story at best, but now I think differently and it would've helped my enjoyment of the unskippable cutscenes and the game as a whole!
Play a healthy amount and don't worry aboit missing out on events. It's a game y'all. There a whole wide beautiful world out there for you to explore and people to meet. Find a healthy balance between creating and consuming.

As someone with gambling and shopping addiction running in my family, yes, Genshin is super dangerous to people with those kinds of addictions. Limit how much you are ALLOWED to spend at once on the game. Either by paycheck or by banner/update. Personally I only buy primos when I can get the double bonus, which as far as I can tell resets on major updates. Other than that I only get the welking moon if I know I’ll have the time to consistently play. If you cannot consistently play, do not buy the welking moon, every day you do not log on while having that activated is just money flushed down the toilet.

Some advice I could give to players that just started:
-Enjoy exploring as the game progresses. Don't be intimidated on how big the map is. Pick up everything, fight every enemy. You do this, you don't need to farm for materials (I never had to farm for resources with the exception of those locked via Resin). Enjoy the story and the game's scenery.
-Don't be pressured on who's meta and CONTROL YOURSELF to pull on banners. Pick who you think is interesting to you AND if the gameplay is to your liking. If you saw a character trailer and you go "hmmm, maybe i should pull", DON'T. As long as you have doubts or you didn't convince yourself immediately, DON'T PULL.
-If you're absolutely, strictly, free to play, treat the game as if you're using one character, meaning focus on building one character. The rest of the team can follow, if you're able. Suggesting to have a DPS, Healer, Utility DPS, Utility Combo/Buffer/Healer composition; this composition is Jack of all trades; you can explore, fight bosses, take some abyss levels, IMO. You will get Barbara and Xiangling as the game progress, so you just need to decide your other two.
-If you've come to the point that you're grinding, for anything, STOP because you're treating the game as a chore. Unless you ABSOLUTELY need to grind like for your main character or you can tell that you will play for a long time, DON'T grind. You will burn out quick.
-Don't be pressured in "missing events" because of the rewards. If you dont want to play the game, don't force yourself or you will also burn out quick.
-Don't pull on the weapon banner (unless you have farmed for enough Primos for your main character.) There are a lot of plenty good unlockable 4star weapons in the game.
-Don't search online for walkthroughs unless you're absolutely stuck. I see some people online sugggesting to not craft for treasure or oculu compass since you can find their locations online but personally, it feels like a "spoiler" and again, it goes back to looking like chore. Again, enjoy the game and its contents.
-Fragile resins are hard to come by; use it at a later Adventure Rank (45 if i recall), and use it for your main character. If i may suggest for farming resources using resin like domains: craft for condensed resins AND don't use it. Recharge your world resin first. Once recharge, then you can take on domains at your leisure. Just do 5 battles each day (since you have max 5 condensed resin) and stop, and recharge your resin for another 5 condensed resin crafting the next day. The 5 resin farming a day is also a way to not burn you out.
Hope this helps. I also take fairly long breaks from the game but I always come back when I'm ready to play again.
This is honestly the best advice for a new player imo. Genshin is way more enjoyable when you can explore and complete story quest at your own pace. As a f2p, saving your summons for when you REALLY want that character can make a world of difference as well.

I got a C6 Faruzan from pulling for Wanderer. And it wasn’t until almost a year later that I built up Faruzan and pair her with Wanderer for that sweet, sweet Anemo SHRED.
Quick tip regarding pulling for 4 star characters: I will sometimes gamble a few pulls on a banner for an important 4* if I need them or a key constellation. What I do is I choose whichever 5* character I want the most out of my options, and I ask myself "If I got this character in 20 pulls, would I still be happy?" Like, I don't love Nilou, but if I had her I would build her and try to put a team together for her. If I get her in, say, 30 pulls, I'm happy. I don't consider that a waste. And if I get my first Kaveh along the way, then bonus.
That being said, I only really do this if I'm facing a 50/50. I never gamble with my guarantee on a 5* I don't want. I'm a sometimes-Welkin player, so I can't afford to blow a guaranteed limited 5*. However, if I'm facing a 50/50, worst case is I get my 50/50 out of the way for only 20 or 30 pulls.
Otherwise, just be patient. You'll probably get that 4* randomly either on the standard banner off free battlepass and sigil wishes, or randomly off a limited banner. I think I've actually gotten most of my first 4* pulls that way. Best of luck to everyone.
Yes this is what I do because some 4 stars are more valuable than many of the 5 stars in this game. If I did not have Kuki for example I would definitely pull on a Kuki banner if at least one of the 5 stars was pretty decent. If the banner has multiple 4 stars I might like some constellations on, then I might even go to soft pity. Anytime you get a 5 star before soft pity it is still a win. Avoid the weapon banner unless it is an incredible weapon banner where both the 5 and 4 stars are valuable. For a new player the Fav, Sacrificial, Widsith, Stringless, or Tulaytullah series of weapons are extremely valuable.
I would also save Masterless Starglitter for specific characters like making sure you have a Bennett and Fishcl. I regret getting the shop weapons as I have only ever used them for maybe a month and never again for over 3 years. These days you can just use Lisa, Fischl, Dendro MC, and any anemo and you have a cracked team right there. Another mistake I regret was destroying the 3 star weapons you can get in the world like White Tassel and Skyrider Greatsword.
Yeah, the important thing to remember: You do not build pity while pulling on a banner. You only risk the pity you already have. Only after the fact, when you are done pulling, can you look upon the "built pity" consolation prize.
Also, when you click to pull on a banner for a four star, and you wind up getting the five star, you did not accidentally get the five star. You purposely clicked on something with a chance of getting that five star, and you got it. It might not have been the result you wanted, but it wasn't an accident.

That was the Nilou banner for me, I got her to C3, but still only got 3 Kirara pulls in the end (after about 540 pulls)- mind you I wanted to get as many Nilou cons as possible primarily and Kirara cons were a bonus
@@AzureDrag0n1 My account is 1 year old and basically only lack 3 chars of 4 stars : Thoma, Yunjin, and Xinyan. There are a lot of chars that can be used for something, even if it's just material compass for specific region. We also need to build them for Imaginarium Theater anyway (just level 70 with some talents, bare minimum weapons, and 2 piece set artifacts) so it's good for new players aiming 4 stars but again prioritize the Tier S first like Xingqiu, Fischl, etc.
Destroying 3 star weapon is not actually a mistake BUT you need to make sure they are the common banner trash you can check on gacha history, not White Tassel indeed.
extremely solid advice - the ayato-cyno banner had an INCREDIBLE set of 4 stars (kirara, kuki, xiangling) but I knew that both 5 stars would never be used, so the banner was completely skipped
charlotte, chevreuse, mika, C1 beidou and 2 heizou cons were obtained from standard while C0 kuki and C1 sucrose were from weapon banner, so everything can and will eventually make its way back when the time is right. stay strong to have as little regrets as possible so that the unexpected 4 star tastes extra sweet

@@vel5785 I just used both of them together in Imaginarium Theater, and Venti was on field just as much as Kazuha, and more use at grouping enemies because his burst lasts longer. Also, I have a permanent Venti team in my party setup with Fischl, Yoimiya and Kokomi, because abyss floor 12 is like 0.01% of the game.
That's why I check multiple videos, to have an idea of who to look out for. I figured out for myself that Amber isn't horrible but get I that she's not ideal for fast combat. But she is great for beginners. Bunny helped a lot when facing scary opponents.
I also learned about how Lisa is usually support. I get why. But she became my DPS as soon as I got Xiangling. I really enjoy overload.
Everything I was reading said Amber was a weak character and not worth anything, but I enjoyed playing her and decided to "waste" my time and resources on her. Once I decided that, I stumbled across a bunch of videos and commentary saying how under-appreciated Amber was. :)
Amber got me good at aiming with a controller. I still use her sometimes at world level 7. Going full meta all the time makes the game boring
Tip from a veteran, when pulling for limited character/with premium currency support five stars will add more value to your account compared to DPS character.

That is wrong. All supports have powerful 4* substitutes. Even nahida. Limited 5* dps are vastly more powerful than standard counterparts. The only exception is furina but mostly because she is dps and support in one.
Furina and nahida are the only supports i would rank higher than dps and nahida only if you want to build hyperbloom or burgeon. Kokomi, Baizhu, Shenhe are luxury units. Xianyun is niche and requires a dps in the first place. Especially in the early game a good dps will carry you through everything. I had to do use c0 noelle because the game didn't give me any dps until ar 45 or something. That wasn't fun and I had furina who was almost all my damage.
Baizhu and kokomi are complete luxury pulls.
Some things i wish i did differently are:
1. Do your darn story quests! I ignored them for the longest time and now i have this huge backlog of them thats pretty overwhelming (also hangout events aswell ive only done like 3 of them 😭)
2. Dont be afraid of a challenge! I didnt finish the drgaonspine world quest until i was in inazuma because i just hated the sheer cold mechanic and the challenging mobs there, i wish i did it sooner
3. Dont pull on the weapon banner! Im strictly f2p and i've been playing for 1 year. I have never used a single pull on the weapon banner because its just a huge scam atp, focus on getting the characters u want first
4. Dont get caught up in going for constellations for 4 and 5 star characters! Spend ur pulls on getting new characters instead because over time you'll naturally get 4 star constellations from pulling on other banners
5. Dont neglect your weapon and talents! They by far have the biggest damage increase for the lowest resin investment!
6. Choose wisely which characters to level up to 90 first! Characters scaling with attack or hp dont get a significant damage increase from getting to 90 while characters like kuki or kazuha get as much as 30% damage increase.
7. Dont neglect weekly tasks like bounties or bosses, they have very valueable rewards! (Im very guilty of this ☠)

Id actually say dont do it as early as possible.I remember I tried to do it when i was...around ar 16? i dont remember the exact ar but it was around that point and i failed.miserably. I think you need to have your characters a little bit built first, and understand the game mechanics ect. If you want to get it over with, atleast get someone to help you with it in coop.Dragonspine is a really annoying location and as someone who has it maxxed, the annoyance can make it HARD sometimes.
@@riomadar what I somewhat mean is, do it early on in the game before the first world level change, and have your characters above lvl 30 so you still have a chance to beat some of the annoying sections of Dragonspine.

For oculi, the best not tiring way is to get them as you go and find the rest with the craftable locator. Using the interactive map for that can be painful since it's not in sync with your progress so it will lead you to empty spots and there are loads of them.
What I do is explore the map freely, and when I stumble upon an oculi, I just mark the location on my map (not the interactive one, the in-game map). Then, when my regular exploration is over - I turn to the interactive map just to find the oculi I'm missing, referring to the marks on my in-game map for the ones I've already found.
I find this the best for myself, because I'm not gimping my exploration experience, and when I'm done there are just a few oculi left so going back with the interactive map is pretty quick. The only problem is the limited amount of marks you can do on the in-game map. But new regions come in parts, so you don't get all the oculi in a single patch so it's usually fine.

I started genshin in 2021. Recently I have had problems getting into that account and so I made a new one about 3 months ago. I am currently draining every single primo from every region. I do not go to a new region UNTIL everything is maxed. Including exploration, quests, and my reputation rank. I am sitting at AR 50, with exploration in only Liyue and Mondstadt. I am working on clearing the newer place of Liyue and then I will move to Inazuma. I say my strategy is working quite well.

I always hear people insist on using the interactive map and marking down everything, and I get why that would be preferably for some people. I was the same way a while back because I never wanted to miss anything. But now I'd have to disagree as to its importance. At least for me personally, constantly marking down and tracking things makes exploration feel like a chore and it takes me out of the game. Mark down all the oculi for Mondstadt and Liyue, absolutely, because they're important for stamina. But past that, if you're someone who delights in immersive exploration and stumbling across things, I'd argue you'd be better off not using the interactive map. I use it almost exclusively for farming routes nowadays and I enjoy exploration a lot more. Not only that, but it gives actual importance to the treasure compasses and oculi resonance stones which, if you enjoy traveling and farming for resources in the open world like I do, gives you more to look for and collect to craft them. Ultimately, you're given tools within the game itself to find almost everything. Realizing that and embracing it has made me love exploration and even pushed me to upgrade my reputation levels more than ever.
Yeah marking everything like that is kinda anal. I only do it when looking for resources for character building.
I highly agree, using the trackers built in game are tons more fun, I wanted to get all the Aranara but there is no tracker so I went into the map and started going from top to bottom and got tired almost instantly.
To rest I went and got to 90% of all chests in Sumeru.
I still haven't gone to get all the Aranara yet gotta get to that one day lmao.
Btw, yes I have 100% of chests everywhere except for Sumeru and Fontaine, and I did it all with treasure trackers.
And it's mostly cause I didn't know the map existed till way later, and when I did I didn't wanna use it cause I'd end up finding a whole lotta nothing for a really long time.

I don't understand why the exception to your rule is the Oculi - effectively the only resource in the game that Genshin flat out tells you where it is by using the relevant item.

Oculi's are the easiest thing to find in Genshin, most of them are out in the open or obtained by doing the time trial challenges cause they're just placed along their path.
And you don't even need an item to know when you're near one either, so why make that exception?
My exception would be when looking for the Aranara, and just that, not even when looking for local specialties cause if you got a character that can find them you just gotta follow the hands on the mini map and you'll be able to grind every item in the game at the same time :3
Personally i'd also use it for puzzle chests that doesn't show up from compasses. There are a few cryptic chests that u probably wouldn't think of doing the thing u need to for said chests. A great example is the chest u get for breaking the pots that doesn't glow wen using elemental sight
I'm just starting a new account because my main is pretty much done, and I'd recommend just to pull whoever you want (unless you're planning on playing meta), that's what I did on my main and, even if I don't have the best characters, I have the ones I enjoy the most. And also, not rushing is very important - taking breaks, and just doing whatever you feel like doing that day (exploring, doing quests or just log in to do dailies/events) and, even if you don't want to play for a week or a month or for as long as you want, that's completely fine. And well, that's pretty much it 💓
Oh, and also, remember to try and do the weekly comissions so you get the rank higher. I was ar55 on my main and I had completely forgotten about those. I had to work a bit to get to level 10's as I had still to do the 4 regions available at that time.
watch the "demo" of the characters and see if any of them catch your eye. Once you know the chars you like, you can then plan when are they expected to appear in a banner and save primos in advance. Don't let people tell you "this character is not meta", as every single character in genshin is "usable" as long as you put the investment and effort into those characters.

Honestly its the opposite for me, idk why even though ik hsr respects my time much more than genshin does. Still, maybe that's cuz it's been exactly half a year since I joined hsr as of writing this. You also arent gonna have a lot of money at the start. If you see a gold color bubble, run it til your world resin is depleted and than stop. Its expensive to level up and ascend your characters, their artificats, and weapons. Therefore, you can gain some money because at the start, you're limited. From my experience at least.
Pick up anything and everything. Even the pincones. You'll need em.
Food heals you but your character can only eat so much. Find a healer or start playing the game like its dark souls. Once your character is full, no food, no food means no health, no health means death.
Yup, that's why i only buy welkin because i enjoy the story, i need game like this so i can relaxing from my work and stop smoking, better spend money for welkin each month then smoking😊
One thing I like to tell myself a lot is, yes, there are characters that are significantly better than others but if you put time into building a character and giving them a good team comp you can make most characters pretty good. Yes, there are better options but a lot of times you don't have them available.

I actually started the game around the time Amazon still gave rewards on the prime gaming, but i dropped at the start due to the HUGE headaches from the amount of strange numbers at the character screen (seriously, the devs should block a lot of the things there, and slowly explain it as you level up)
Years later, im back to the game (maybe on the best moment possible), and because of a friend who's hypeing/helping me about all the stuff. Farming, exploring, and making secondary missions is way better with a friend than by yourself (and easier since he's high level 🙃)
about tracking oculuses, just do it freely as long as you mark them on the map after collecting it, then when you feel like a oculi rush, look for a thorough guide and just move to ones you haven't collected 😊

@@Thugga_Thugga You need about 600 reputation points in average to level up statues by one (except mondstadt and liyue), and you only get 420 points each week. So unless you're doing a lot of quests, it's gonna take a lot of time to get it to lvl 8 where the resonance stone blueprints are.
I admit, i dont watch alot of genshin Content on UA-cam, but i think this is the first time i heard an experienced player say just pull for you want and dont play the meta if you dont want so.

I did so many of these things correctly back when I started at 3.7 on Alhaitham rerun banner. I pulled for him at the time bc I was thinking I should go for characters that are known to be good and I got it. I built characters around him first but at the same time I was trying to build a second team which was ok cuz there was a lot of contents before to get exp mora and primos from it was just tiring. I would find myself feeling burnt out when I should have been playing for fun but I guess thats just me haha. Building around Al was a good decision for me as I progress through the game I realized how important some 4 stars are compare to what I initially thought. What I wish I did do or knew was how massive the value some 4star characters has and some 3&4 star weapons are really good not just for newer accs. Also ER matters, I was only thinking of getting cr and cdmg but getting the right amount of ER for some characters was a game changer for me.
My advice: As soon as you can turn your world level down, do. Just one level. Do main quests and world quests until you are blocked by your AR before doing the Adventure Rank tier quests. There's so much in this game if you are focuses on min/maxing it you will miss out. So don't stress yourself. I'm F2P and I wish on both the banners (though I only use my primogems on limited banners) because I get more whatever-the-heck-it-is (the middle redeem option) than I can spend on the 5 wishes of each type we are limited to a month. Yeah, don't spend your primogems unless you are excited about the 5-star on the banner, but also...you'll get more primogems. Search for redeem codes. I have a lot of great characters (building an A team and a B team up fully) and I have spent ZERO.
If I could restart Genshin again, I would read the rules and study the game's functions. I was so clueless for the first few months one year ago. I thought it was like Devil May Cry since in those games, you can power through without upgrades. I was super wrong.

I would say it depends on ur roster and which weapon it is
as an f2p, this is actually untrue/ semi true and here is why (dont follow if you are new/dont yet have 3 seperate abyss clearing teams):
1) when you play in the long term, you will gather a lot of characters and only piling up their cons will not be as effective because limited 5* cons are rare.
2) there is only so much optimization you can do with artifactmaxxing (i made that term up)
3) a lot of potential is usually locked up behind weapon banners
4) its 2 50/50's is not that bad because you see, if you get a standard weapon you will be guarenteed to get a limited weapon later, which you can make the most out of in weapon banners with great weapons, such as the hutao/neuvi banner, where getting either of their weapons is quite the upgrade to almost all characters
5) a few characters like alhaitham, cyno, emilie, itto, baizhu etc value c0r1 more compared to their c1
6) a few weapons make great value: freedom sworn, elegy's end, wolf gravestone, sobp are great for buffing your team whereas lofi,homa, tome, scarlet sands staff, aqua and mistsplitter make great dps (and by that i mean they are the only more better universal 5* options if they arent these then dont bother pulling)
7) fashion impact
8) its soft pity starts much faster and the hard pity is 80
no im not trolling, having 2 staves of homa and 2 freedom sworns and a lofi (i also have the wanderer bell but havent gotten a character to use it yet) really makes the spiral abyss easier to beat and i gathered them overtime. the only bad pulls i got from the weapon banner were 2 aquila favonia and a skyward atlas but it works a charm on bennet so its alright, and yae miko's 2nd best in slot if skyward (hoyo pls give me wgs)
Edit: fate points are just a failsafe if you are actually trying to get the only 5* at once and "right here right now emerge" instead of using your fates on it slowly only on good weapon banners, the 50/50 loss carries over but if you win the 50/50 on a limited weapon it means you won and case closed and the slim chance that you "win" the limited weapon you dont want twice, it can help you. needless to say if you have gambling addiction then seek professional help

It is sure much more fun when you can't use primos on one character because you're saving for someone who MIGHT come 2 patches later.
Also, a tip from someone who started over. Abyss can be hard for new players even on lower levels, but having Xiangling is a blessing. The moment you see her on a banner, you pull and hope that you get her. There is this whole hysteria about her being on way too many banners, but than again new players always come and they might just need her to be able to do certain challenges.
One thing for the eager new players to take note of is: ignore the abyss, or at least the lower floors. The lower floors are better for more seasoned accounts, so just concentrate on building a party that’s strong enough for the overworld first. Build your supports (get an archer). Build a 4 star DPS to start with.
Another thing: really restrict your pacing by going with commission count and the bp count - if you max out the daily commission count, then stop there for the day. I plan out my daily genshin stuff based on what I can do for the bp. (The second tip might be more applicable to older players tho who try not to get burned out but maybe newer players wanna try this too)
At least for spiral i'd at least attempt it til floor 4. But just don't go crazy and feel like u have to win. Floor 4 mainly bc thats wen freebie charas aren't given out afterwards
The only reason I haven't built any archers is because I absolutely suck at aiming and shooting in any sort of timely manner without the mobs interrupting me. Bow characters are a style of play that I have never been able to master.

The point about leveling up your 4* and supports needs to be said more. I cannot emphasize enough how much impact having a fully realized Bennet and Shinobu is to an account. Bennet's value is easy enough to see but after I built Shinobu, it's like I unlocked an entirely different part of the game when using her with dendro teams. The same goes for other 4* in other elements like Rosaria for budget freeze teams and Sucrose for those that don't have Venti or Kazuha.
As a side note, I even built an only 4 star team with Heizou, Thoma, Xinqiu, and Shinobu so I could play the Avatar in the game. There's a lot you can do to make the game fun to play without needing to break the bank so don't sleep on your 4 stars people.

The best way to enjoy is to do the Archon quests in a region and after that finish the major world+story quests of that region before going to the next one. I always followed this and trust me it is rewarding.
It is a far more better approach compared to doing the archon quests of all regions 1st then moving onto the world quests. You will get mad if you binge play all those voiceless world quests later. 😅

For 2:50, some players tend to prefer to not have another app/tracker open whenever playing games. If you are one of them, I would still suggest to pin your collected oculuses (or any other notable collectible) using the in-game map so that once you reach a point that you want to 100% your statues/trees/etc., you can just open up the interactive map once then you can reflect your pins there.
That is personally what I do since I do like finding things naturally while I explore. It's only when I want to 100% things would I use the interactive map to find the few ones that I missed.
As someone who did in fact start Genshin a little over 4 weeks ago, I can confirm that all the tips are solid and also conclusions that I came to naturally. The only artifact farming I did before 45 was for Mualani and Kachina's artifact sets at around 44. I wish I didn't spend primos on Mualani/Kazuha's weapon banner though because I got Kazuha's sword but I wanted Mualani's ball and now I'm constantly torn between going all the way for it before the pity gets wasted in a week or so.
I would not force myself to read dialogues. After almost 4 years of playing I realised that story is not the only thing that is interesting for me. I still like the lore, the main story, and I'm really hyped to see the new archon quests. And even these long world quests like aranaras are quite interesting for me. But I used to read every single line in every single quest and it became so overwhelming that at some point I started skipping even main quests. Now I know that it's okay to not like dialogues, especially now when they become longer and longer. I do not read character story quests because they became NPC story quests, and don't feel bad for it even if I like the character. There ARE quests that are not worth your time, and it's okay to skip them.
Only if they could add a skip button... requesting for almost 4 years, started in feb of 2021. Stopped playing 7 months ago. Been f2p but managed to earned 100k primos and lost 40k trying to c6 Xiao. Only earned c1 but quited the game after.
I did not regret playing the game, but if a new player reads this. Do not pull for the character you like, end game is always designed for new characters.
When considering whether to pull on a banner, always consider BOTH the 4-stars and the 5-stars. NEVER pull for just either of them, especially if you're trying to be f2p. Research the characters you're interested in; rather than focusing on how "good" they are, learn what their roles are and how they benefit a team. When starting off, focus on getting older characters first since those will be the easiest to build. Last thing you want is to get Raiden while you're still doing the Mondstat archon quests; you might wing it early on but your Raiden might get quickly left behind if your AR outpaces your quest progress.

One stupid thing I did when I first started genshin. Was using my primos on my resin.
I only buy welkin occassionally and only buy BP when I max it out so I get all the extra rewards, and I find primo farming and saving really rewarding
I'd say, if you want to collect every single chest don't use the interactive map but follow a video guide instead, the map is sometimes confusing and misses a few chests.
Another thing is to take note of every single world quest you complete because the game doesn't keep track of them and in the reputation you won't find all of them.

Yes. Me planning Qiqi+Dehya melt team is also meta, because it's my meta. Despite both of them being the butt of all jokes in Genshin community. Build whatever you like, threat the game as a playground, not a second job/school.

My greatest regret is the fact that I didn't know Ningguang's skin was temporary free, because it was the first character skin I saw. I couldn't finish the event because one of the quests (which I couldn't complete because there was a fight and I kept loosing) was blocking npc, and while at first I was just annoyed, later I finally realized I missed the skin forever 😢
"Never wish for 4 stars". That's at the same time the most common, and the most stupid take people make on genshin. You said it yourself : pull characters you like. 5 stars are absolutely not necessary in that game. If you agree that pulling for meta is stupid, then telling that 5 stars are always a priority over 4 stars is a nonsense.
Umm no, “never wish for 4 stars” is not a stupid advice. It’s not that 4 stars aren’t good or anything, it’s that 4 stars characters are never guaranteed, unlike the limited 5 stars which has a pity guarantee, 4 stars also as a pity guarantee but it was split into 3 evenly, you only has 33% chance of getting 4 stars you wishes. I’ve seen people going through to get C2 on a 5 stars until they got the 4 stars they wanted.

That makes no sense. Yes you can be unlucky. Yes you have to know this is risky and that it can be difficult to have 5 stars on next banners.

I think this is already go without saying obviously , if anyone like a character that they see in a banner, then you go for it. If THAT is what you meant by the context of “wish for it” then it is no different to a 5 stars, pull whoever you like, duh.
But the difference is that 4 stars don’t have the hard guarantee, and spending money to specifically aim to wish for a 4 stars can get MORE expensive than a 5 stars characters.
That’s what he meant for “never wish” for a 4 stars. Please learn to read the context before calling anyone stupid for giving advice, and it’s ACTUALLY a good advice no less.

biggest advise i would give is don`t rush, when i first started i got so into exploring doing story and all side quests i ran out of things to do and ended up playing afterwards praying for updates only to consume any new content in day 1 and sit again, until i took a break middle sumeru and came back after entire fonatain was out again did same mistake rushed it too fast and now came back gaina just to do act 1 and 2 from natlan, will just do daily comissions now to save for pyro archon

For me, i wouldn't change a thing, what i did in the early game shaped how I play now in the late game
on second thought i would stop myself from spending all 49 of my fragile resin at ar 39
As someone who started relatively recently in 4.2, definitely take your time and enjoy the whole game. Having 4 years worth of updates to sink your teeth into was amazing. I remember opening the map for the first time and seeing all the locked areas and be blown away by the scale of everything around me. Nowadays I'm caught up with only 3 character story quests to tackle, but the 8 whole months it took to get to this point was a great time.
ALSO SAVE YOUR FRAGILE RESIN! Trust me, getting that prototype rancour to level 50 two days sooner is not worth it!
Now I see no harm spending money on a game you sincerely enjoy. Just have self control and keep a budget or don't spend at all. Self control big one here and I do agree don't spend If you can't afford it or have zero self control. It's ok to like a character and not pull for them or skip for somebody you want far more. 😊
I have a good tip for collecting the Oculus' for each area! As you're running around and you come across one as soon as you pick it up open up your map put a marker on it and tag it "found". Then at some point when you have time you can go to the interactive map and just mark off all the ones that you've already gotten. It's so much easier than doing it the other way around and using the interactive map to mark them all in the game in the first place imo.
Also, don’t aim for the big number damage that get posted to shorts.. it costs a lot of money/time to get damage that high. And the game is more fun when your actually fighting instead of one shooting bosses
As someone who has seen media and videos about genshin but has never played, I really enjoyed this guide (I don’t play cuz I got too many games already T-T and am scared the game will crash on my phone)
About the monetary pointers: Gacha is designed to be predatory. Control is absolutely key, and if you can maintain control in whatever situation you are (f2p, semi-f2p or even semi-whale with a set spending habit) it's fine. Once you give in to the gambling it starts to become risky.
Having said that, there's nothing wrong with spending some if it gives you additional joy. Either as semi-f2p (Belkin and/or BP) or the occasional Crystal pack. I am semi-f2p and have bought the lower top-ups (up to 15), which I bought primarily to reward myself for special occasions (and no, finishing the work day is not a special occasion). This keeps it fun and gives a bit more chance to get stuff you want, you aren't outright buying it. Tl;dr. Control.
My pro tip for new players: Get and Build properly 5* Kazuha, Furina and Nahida then for 4* Bennett Xiangling Xingqui then slap on any characters / dps you want.

I am a newer player at AR 35 and accidentally used all my fragile resin because I misunderstood the clip of you using yours and primos to refill your regular resin and I had 2400 regular resin after 💀😭 I think the wm and bp are worth it. I learned you can teleport to Natlan even though I’m not there in the story yet so I can earn the limited time rewards. This was a really helpful video!
if I started in 2024 (wall of text inc):
- build characters that make overworld travel easier. there's a lot of top meta picks that also are top tier for exploration, like yelan or kazuha, but even if I didn't have those characters, i'd probably put more resources into characters like lynette. almost all of this game is played in the overworld and having characters that can traverse faster are more valuable than just focusing on spiral abyss.
- don't be afraid to vertically invest in your favorite units with constellations. while it's always fun to get a new character, they might end up collecting dust, when you could have made your main carry 20-30% stronger instead. This is especially true for newer units, who tend to have pretty crazy power spikes in their early constellations.
- spend more time testing a character out in test run before pulling for them. you could read a million guides that say how good a character is, but if they don't feel good to YOU, then it's not worth it. there's a few meta units that I pulled for that I never use just because they feel clunky or slow to me.
- "building pity" is okay but only if you're okay getting the banner unit. there's a couple characters that I accidentally pulled early while trying to get 4 star cons that I don't regret getting at all. However, I have some limited 5 stars that I'm never going to touch from "building pity", and I absolutely wish I could get the primos back from those.
Be patient is the best advice. I went from Dehya as my only 5 star to having 6 S-tier 5 stars from welkin/BP. Just gotta be patient which is never easy 😅
I started playing because I liked Venti but stayed for other characters as well as Venti, my biggest regret is waiting to play the game at first or just going extended periods of time without playing because I missed out on so much limited content.
I also didn’t level up my artefacts, weapons or skills until later so I got frustrated at how weak my level 40 characters were compared to the enemies or other players of the same level
I miss the earlier days where everything was fresh and new, I still had mountains of content to enjoy in Mondstadt and Liyue other than 100%ing the exploration that gets tedious after a while.
I saw a comment that the keys for character quests should let you replay limited story events or replay chatter quests you have done, kinda like the hangout quests. I hope that becomes a thing in the future!
I relate with the "be f2p" thing cause I'm mainly f2p (besides using $10 + welkin) and I recently got my 5th 5 star (not including anniversary) and it just felt so great
I also made the mistake of skipping through the liyue quest, too..
My advice is for new players to only increase their world level if the main story requires it, or until they are absolutely certain their character builds are powerful enough to contend with the higher scaling. You can lower your world level, but only by one, so if you get too ahead of yourself to get some extra wishes and rewards, there's no backing it up.
I'd intentionally foreshadow myself story-wise to be able to immerse myself into the story more. I pretty much skipped everything at the beginning thinking it'd be a mid story at best, but now I think differently and it would've helped my enjoyment of the unskippable cutscenes and the game as a whole!
Play a healthy amount and don't worry aboit missing out on events. It's a game y'all. There a whole wide beautiful world out there for you to explore and people to meet. Find a healthy balance between creating and consuming.

As someone with gambling and shopping addiction running in my family, yes, Genshin is super dangerous to people with those kinds of addictions.
Limit how much you are ALLOWED to spend at once on the game. Either by paycheck or by banner/update.
Personally I only buy primos when I can get the double bonus, which as far as I can tell resets on major updates.
Other than that I only get the welking moon if I know I’ll have the time to consistently play. If you cannot consistently play, do not buy the welking moon, every day you do not log on while having that activated is just money flushed down the toilet.
I just finished the Dvalin battle, can’t wait to hit adventure rank 23 and go to Liyue! I absolutely love the Chinese/Hong Kong style for Liyue it’s amazing
