Brings back sweet memories, remember the first time I saw this on Kenny, was so happy they played a song that wasn't a hit for a change. Love this song.
So long ago now and can remember watching it at the time, and recording it on my parents DER rental jvc video recorder. April 1980, I was 12 years old. Time flys. And the older you get the faster it goes. Well , that's how it feels
Same here, except I was 11 at the time. Had the first two albums and was a mahoosive Police fan, so I tried to catch any TV show that they appeared on, including this KE outing. Thanks for reminding me of the DER rental VCRs. That where my folks rented theirs too, along with a Teletext TV. Boy! I was made up. Know what you mean about time flying by these days. Seem to remember a week felt like a month in 1980.
Now, that's the good thing about miming: Plenty of time for flirting with the camera and jumping like crazy! ; ) Great performance- I always love their energy!
Actually the guitar in this video is a Washburn from their late '70s/early '80s Wing series, either an Eagle or a Falcon from the looks of it. Whether he used it anyplace else besides this TV appearance is another question.
He probably did! I just thank God that Andy and Stewart had most of the say regarding the set list for the recent tour!! Otherwise I'm not sure how that world tour would have panned out..:-)
This is not The Police live. This is the official video where they use the cut from the album and sync-up the performance to go with the lyrics. Sad, but true.
No-one has claimed that it was live. However, it is not an "official video", since to my knowledge a promo video was never made for this track. It is an appearance on the "Kenny Everett Show" (an ex-DJ and comedian) on British TV - miming to the album cut, as was the general policy of UK broadcasters in most cases.
Its a shame that Sting thought he was god. This is a great track , everyone is giving some energy. He pissed everyone off then did shit like "i'm an alien" yawn zzzzz , plus he thinks he is the best shag in the world.... yazzzzzzwwwwnnnnn
@@jckhammer I sound like a loser because I think Sting became a megalomaniac??? . Its just an opinion! I love everything done by the Police and some of his solo stuff. I just think he annoyed the rest of the band , well actually I know he annoyed the rest of the band and that's indisputable. So because I have some facts and made an informed decision , i am a LOSER of low quality.. LOLF
Each of their five albums are gems.
Man--stewart playing the bell on his ride cymbal during the chours--those offbeat strikes are what make the Police THE POLICE.
Remarkably underrated drummer. The guy has skills and not just behind a kit

One of my absolute fave Police songs 🎵
The Trio is on fire! Copeland is God!
This was one of their greatest albums. If not THE best.
My personal fave
Fucking incredible!!!!!

The performance wasn't mimed, the original track recording has been placed over the live video..
KILLER video ! The Police rock ON.
THE POLICE THE BEST STEWART THE BEST ANDY THE BEST STING THE BEST
Right up there with my favourite Police songs!
The police , It’s alright for me
Simply incredible
Stewart Copeland as a co-writer plays guitar on this song too!!!
Yeah I remember it. Kenny interviewing Sting and then having a bit of a scuffle. I think they also did Bed's Too Big same episode.
Cheers for this. I used to love the KE show. Dont remember this. I remember they did Spirits in the Material World on there.
The Police legend...best band forever
Me vuelven locaestas canciones pero literalmente.
Nobody loves the Police more than me. NOBODY.
Is that alright for you?
xo
Totally.
NO , it's me 😉
I’m getting there....
elfin' excellent !!!!

It looks like a Falcon to me. I still have a Washburn Raven, the entry level model of the "Wing" series, which was my first electric guitar.
Was this song never played live? This seems to be lip-synced. I wish they had played "Does Everyone Stare" live as well.
@Wid Eye I think they've done a few of those, just very rarely (if you search this channel.) No Time This Time, Omegaman, Secret Journey.
@@synchronizerman No time this time, Secret Journey: yes, a couple of times. Omegaman: not even once.
He probably did! I just thank God that Andy and Stewart had most of the say regarding the set list for the recent tour!! Otherwise I'm not sure how that world tour would have panned out..:-)
❤
3 thumbs up
I remember this episode - I think there was another little bit with Sting and Kenny, or am I remembering wrong?
Tight! Sheer class!
genios!!!
Monsters.....
Toca hermoso el de amarillo sobre todo
Great to see. Thank you. Does anyone have Andy singing “Be My Girl” on video?
The playback monitors must have been loud! :)

Kick Ass
stewart ooo
Thin Lizzy's Thunder and Lightening is like a much heavier version of this song.
This is the real police, the first 3 albums are perfect. I ignore the last 2
all the albums are loaded. the last 2 are half awesome, half not-so-much.
@Tamaslammer are you sure?
is andy playing a westone thunder?
i think it's an Aria Pro.
What kind of bass is sting using?
@Metaldog67
: )
@doublemandala
: )
it's not live.... but playback
Stewart wrote this song.
Obviously.

grow up. You sound like a total low quality loser

And possibly Van Halen's Judgement Day...
Sting looks normal there
You wanna bet? 😂
Noooooooooo why did they lipsync such a great song?!! Booo lol
The note for note same as the album guitar solo that Andy Summers plays gives the game away. He'd usually improvise it at least in part
sometimes "cocaine decisions" are the right decisions
