There's NO modern musician that even comes close to touching Brian Fallon. His ability to stir up emotions is unparalleled. He's an actual gift to humanity ❤️

honestly, he's a Bob Dylan type, enormous range and ability.

What about Conor Oberst and Julien Baker?

might be worth your while doing some research. There are many other modern musicians that are just as good at stirring up emotions... at least my emotions. Ben Cooper and David Bazan are just a couple that immediately pop to my mind.

The first time I heard The Gaslight Anthem Great Expectations was the beginning of the second half of my life.

Maybe better than the original one. So sad and beautiful. ❤ I have no words..

Sounds so much sadder in this version, getting over the nostalgia of past friends

Yep. The original makes turning the page sound like a good thing. This one makes it sound mournful.

When the lyrics ring out and you feel your blood flow, skin tingle, and the tears well. Damn you Brian. Damn you.

Acoustic version so good. Hits a little deeper in the spirit.

Please Brian never stop making music! I don't care if It's the Gaslight Anthem or your solo albums. I love both too much. Never stop please. You are the best Songwriter in the World

This is insane, tragedy can give you inspiration and enduring art.

Song reminds me of some of Brian’s music from 2016. Love this acoustic version. So good

I've said all along that Brian Fallon is at his best when it's all stripped down to the minimum. This version of the song is fantastic.

I still think this is a divorce song, even though he says it's about old friends. It feels like a year on from Halloween, when the wounds have scabbed over and there's just a vague sadness on the increasingly rare occasions when you think of the ex.

I started listening to TGA right after my divorce and so many of their songs felt like they were written about me.

Can someone whos a fan of Brian Fallon maybe help me? I just randomly came across this band(love it btw) but his voice sounds like a voice in a punk song i used to listen to that ive been searching for FOR YEARS and cannot find, and turns out he was in some punk rock sounding bands back in the day so this is a shot in the dark but hey. The song is very important to me, used to listen to it on repeat with my brother the last time we were close right before he got addicted to drugs which is why i obsess over it. I randomly remembered it 4 or 5 years ago and just the thought brought me back and i desperately want to remember the good times. It was a random song on a random bands page we stumbled across, the internet was a great place to find local/not huge punk bands in the 2000-2010s. The only lyrics i remember were something along the lines of "I've crossed oceans and land, I've put guns to their heads, and blew the brains right out the other side" sonethin somethin "im gonna leave it all behind". i know it sounds violent, it was a lovish song. Basically saying hed do anything for someone. I think.. Anyway, the singer of that band sounded very similar to this guy and some of their faster non acoustic music has a similar vibe to this song. The music was punkish like social distortion or dropkick Murphy's is, not hardcore raging punk rock, but had a sound that fit in with the genre. I know this is a total shot in the dark but ill search for that song everywhere i can and i know one day i gotta find someone else whose heard it. Thanks for any help ❤

First time I heard this song I didn’t like it. As I listened to the album, I realised I think the songs are really good actually, but not very well produced/mixed. This is great, it shows the song as it is without the production getting in the way.
