Feel bad for the German Shepherd. I have two and I couldn’t stand to see that happen to either of mine. I’m not at all happy with those braces either. You can still see her joints bending with them on with maybe a small amount of help. The longer she waits the worse and older the dog gets which adds more risks.
it’s weird because i have two german shepherds as well, both from the same parents but different litters. one suffered very badly with hip displasia and arthritis at a young age, but the other girl has fared much better and is just starting to slow down, even though she’s eleven years old. it hurts to see them walking in a bad way knowing they’re in pain.
Agreed. She’s letting the dog live in pain bc she doesn’t like the idea of fusing the bones or has some aversion to surgery. She kept saying “I” as well. She’s not basing the decision on the dog’s well-being, it seems more based off her preconceived whatever-it-is. It’s really hard to watch that.

I wish this story had not bothered me. I’m not doubting Hannah’s Mother’s love for her at all & Ive never been in that position. It just seemed that she just kept overthinking/complicating Hannah’s tx with her own “feelings” & in doing that poor Hannah now has to adjust her life on those painful looking braces so that Mommy can feel at peace. On the other hand, anesthesia can be a huge risk for our older fur babies. Those braces just looked so uncomfortable for her…bless Hannah & her Mum. ❤️
For some more context, a friend of Peggy's kind of guilt tripped/manipulated Peggy to take Archie in the first place. She did the right thing, as heartbreaking as it is. I do hope we see Peggy in the future with another fur baby. She's such a sweet lady.
Well that's messed up. They weren't such a great match and that just means neither are fully happy. Not to say he didn't look happy or that Peggy wasn't taking good care of him but he needed someone who could work with him a bit more. I hope Peggy found a calm dog to keep her company; it's clear she was going to miss having a little fuzzy companion.
Yeah like I have a fear aggressive dog, and we have made amazing strides and he's doing wonderfully, BUT I am confident, and up to the challenge, with no kids or vulnerable people for him to injure while we worked on it. If I didn't have the confidence and financial and time ability to deal with it he would have been better with someone else. Sometimes a rehome is in the dogs best interest 🤷♀️
One thing people don't realize is that dog bites are often more or less dangerous based on the person who was bitten. Given Peggy's age, a bite related infection could be quite serious. A younger owner with a healthy immune system and a good knowledge of handling fear and pain based aggression in dogs is what Archie needs. This more than a case of bad temperamental compatibility, it is a case of an owner with a higher risk of revere reactions to a bite with a dog that is has aggression due to chronic pain and fear.
@@dorothygostanian1292 He seems to love being touched - he certainly loves being petted. Apparently it's just getting him out of the car that's the problem.
@@dorothygostanian1292 The dog is quite clearly not afraid of being touched. He has a bad reaction to needing to leave the car, which makes it dangerous for him to have an elderly owner. Bulldogs are incredibly strong and have a very powerful jaw. He bit her out of fear and stress, but it could've been a lot worse, there are cases of people losing fingers and the use of their hand due to bulldogs and bully breeds. This is just a horrible situation where the owner has tried to protect someone else but got hurt herself from a scared dog. It's the car that he was scared of, unfortunately it was probably going to happen eventually, it's just awful that it happened to such a loving woman.
I first watched the episode where Emma brings in Ed to the vet for a biopsy of his lump on the mouth where he has that adorable dot, and now seeing how she got him - in reverse - is soooo heartwarming! Awww
I was looking for a comment like this because I was wondering, I’m at the beginning of the episode now, if this was the same cat she brought in to remove the tumor.
Funny thing about the the kitty, the same thing happened to my cat, we went around to the neighbors and discovered he’s owners were just down the street with 5 other cats 3 dogs and tons of foster kids, scout (my cat) ran away and started hanging around out place, the old owners ended up giving him to us so yeah :)
At the shelter I work at there’s a cat that lays like Ed was. It just means he’s really relaxed and comfortable. He also does it when he’s begging for belly rubs. There’s a basket on a window seat and it’s the most adorable thing when he sprawls out in that basket with the sun shining right on his belly. The very picture of happiness.
Poor archie you know he went through some major crap in his life to make him the way he is dogs are not born that way humans make them aggressive I hope he finds a good home and it's someone that can help his aggression poor miss Peggy was just a little to old to handle his issues I hope she finds a sweet gentle doggie so she doesn't get lonely
So much of his behavior is likely due to pain and learning that he has to be defensive. You're right it's a learned behavior, but it sounds like this case was also from the fear from his coughing fit, and possibly from the pain from his chronic arthritis.
@@raechel381 didn't even see your comment until after I had commented. Absolutely agree. And some dogs can just have almost bipolar behavior. I've seen that in quite a few pits. They all had owners that treated them really well but they would just snap out of nowhere and turn on you. Nope thanks. I'll stick with cats 😺
I think most dogs have the capability to lashing out to bite when they feel trapped or controlled or hurting some how. It’s certainly a communication measure. I had a dog bite me when I set it down in the kennel at the shelter because he was afraid of being left there. He was happy to have me hold him and take him out, but putting him back in the large pen made him bite me and bark angrily because he didn’t want to be left there. He was a mini pincher. Size of the dog doesn’t always matter whether they will bite or not. Abandonment fear can also cause aggressive behavior. One dog bit me because I tried to get him off my bed. The same dog went under my bed and wouldn’t come out. What he seemed to fear was being put in the crate I had to use when I wasn’t home. He hated being alone and barked when I wasn’t there and hated the crate if I shut the doors. He was fine sleeping in the crate with the doors open and I was there with him. He wasn’t stupid. He could read the signs when I needed to leave. He was also raised with his sister and I think he felt abandoned when he was alone. In the beginning he followed me everywhere until he realized he could relax and not worry.
PewPewCat Cats can also randomly turn on their owners. Though it’s not random. An animal is never aggressive for no reason, they have triggers even if you don’t know what they are. It’s your job as their owner to keep them away from those triggers to keep them, you, and others safe! Most dogs are quite sweet when raised right. Bipolar isn’t that common in humans, dogs lashing out even when raised right isn’t common either. Most that do their owners figure out the triggers and either desensitize them to it or keep them from them.
I'm so addicted to this show, it's very bittersweet though but then that's life. I love not only the animals but the beautiful scenic views of my home, I'm living in America and am so homesick but cannot move back as I have 2 very sweet pit bulls which are banned in England sadly, they're very misunderstood and any dog can be aggressive depending upon the environment they grow up in. I hope one day I make it back because I would never leave my babies behind. For now I'll enjoy seeing my homeland on screen. Much love to all of the animal lovers and their babies out there 🇬🇧
Anna is amazing!!!!! I loved the “Hint” to her partner regarding Ed staying tbere😂🤣 I think with her beautiful smile that her partner often says yes 🥰❤️. Dr Scott’s personality is awesome!!!! I thought it was wonderful that he kept getting scolded for giving the wild animals love!!! ❤️💕 Also the fact he was rolling around on the floor with the bull dog. He love and kindness with the animals is so beautiful to see!!!!! God Bless you all for the care you take with these animals!!!
To any other zebras who are wondering yes dogs can have EDS but they have testing for them via skin biopsy. I don’t think hanna has it though because in dogs their skin stretches really obviously and usually more than just the wrist joints are affected
Interesting program. A little bit of everything. The deer looked so happy jumping thru the forest. But I love Ed. I'm glad the nurse adopted him. He was a cute kitty. And not to many will rest on there back. I have one that does the same thing. But its not often. This was a nice program and I'm glad I watched it. Bless them all.
Dr. Scott, you are so amazing!! Not only do you doctor them physically but also mentally , & emotionally. Like your friend says in the opening, Scott cares & you can't fake that😸🐻🐨🐷🐰🐭
sorry but that poor german shepard will still suffer with the same problem down the road all the owner is doing because of her selfishness is prolonging that pain. the best thing would have been to have the surgery to stop the poor pups pain.
Dogs will sometimes get that condition if nails are not kept short enough from puppy hood. The foot rocks back because the nails hold up the front of the toes.
I really love the completely genuine love this man and his staff have for all animals. A far cry from my (previous!!!) vet who only really cared about horses.
I made sure that my new puppy had a chip placed. I wanted to be sure that if she got lost, they could find me. Some people refuse a chip because they don't want to be held responsible, if the animal is found " at large " for which they could receive a ticket. I would rather have my dog back and pay the ticket than to lose my dog.
They'll help for a while but the specialist made it clear the problem would worsen. Wearing braces can also get tiring. I wouldn't wait for her to get too much older to do the surgery because the older she gets, the greater the risk from anesthesia. It looked like money wasn't an issue for the family, only their fear and emotions.
Chipping a pet is not expensive. In my neighborhood, there's a clinic that will do it for $25 ($35.08 in Australian pounds). It's not painful. The local humane society website says "To your pets, the procedure feels a lot like a shot. Most animals show little to no reaction to the chip, while it’s being implanted and afterward." It can save your pet's life.
It’s something about those beautiful male black and white kitties that are just so sweet I got one right now he’s my Oliver and he’s my whole world my little baby
What that cats doing at 45:18 isn’t that out of the norm, especially from cats who are really attached to people, I’ve met atleast 15-20 cats in my life who will lay like that on your lap because they want scratches under their chins & on their bellies.
I was crying when Peg had to give up Archie. She does need a good companion...maybe a friendly cat... I love watching these animal groups. I love friendly German Shepherd's and Hannah is a GEM! When I was a little girl growing up in NY my neighbor's German Shepherd was my best friend. Beautiful fawns...Secret Things amazing Aww I'm a cat owner...Ed is so beautiful. My.old cat Sam looked like Ed
It’s better to do surgery now, older dogs don’t do as well with surgery! Why would she put it off (those braces aren’t supposed to be temporary)? How her dog lives life is what’s important, I would of gone for it. Just get it over with and have a healthy happy dog!
I really feel for Peggy. I also have a dog with anxiety and some aggressive tendencies but I am a fit 26 year old woman who is able to handle a dog like that. Some people don’t realize how physically and mentally draining it is to have a dog with anxiety, especially if they’re big. It was a hard decision but she did the right thing in rehoming him and I hope this experience doesn’t dissuade her from adopting again. She would be a lovely mum for a smaller, more calm dog.
My old tomcat loved laying like that on me, he loved fetching too. Big lovable boi, now I have a small girl who also likes fetch but lays like a proper lady.
That poor German Shepard... she is like that due to crap breeding! I hate what breeders had done to the breed. If she was from the working line she wouldn’t be like that.
I really like Scott's personality. I hope Archie is able to find a forever home. He is a good dog but with in the moment of getting him out of the car he snaps. Other than that he is a good boy.
Hana's owner is making the wrong decision. There was no "sign" from Scott. She said that she wasn't going to do the surgery and he said in the meantime , until she inevitably needs surgery, these could help.
yep, clearly a poor decision. the braces looked pretty useless. I feel like this was just Scott trying to do what little he could to help the dog be out of pain when the owners were refusing to take the only good option for their dog.
I have been enjoying the videos. I miss having dogs, so I volunteer at my local shelter to help. Fostering made me realize what work it can be to care for a dog. It’s like caring for a child sometimes when they aren’t house trained.
What a selfish choice for those braces... So what? Wait for your dog to get older, putting her at even more risk for complications and then do the surgery? That owner needs a reality check... I hate seeing stuff like this.
I feel really bad for that beautiful German Shepard and the selfish decision that woman made. I know all about the medical costs, but she should already have known the issues these purebred dogs have. She's had enough of them from her own statement. These dogs are very expensive and if she has dished out a large sum for the dog, why not dish out the money to keep that beautiful dog from being in pain. She is going to wait until it is too late and the dog cannot be fixed. Those braces are ridiculous and is only a bandaid.
The older that her “baby” gets, the more risk she takes with the anesthesia. This was filmed a few years ago so, prayerfully, she has consented to the surgery so that beautiful dog is now living a much longer pain-free life. 🙏🏼
yeah, those braces looked pretty poor. you could see the joint collapsing again under the braces as the dog walked away. I don't understand why the owner was so again surgwry when it was clearly the right decision.
Why would you not get your dog surgery when the braces are only a temporary solution? Honestly, that seems selfish to me. Like she just didn't want to do it because she was afraid she would lose her dog to surgery. That's just my two cents but I would have done the surgery for her.
My two cents to this: we had a 22 year old foster cat who had a few very rotted teeth left. I had them surgically removed, and he never quite recovered from the aftermath of the surgery. He passed three weeks later. Yes, he was old. But I will never get over the thought that he might still be alive if I hadn't done that, even though he would have had to be on antibiotics over and over again due to the rot causing repeated throat infections. So I totally get Hannah's guardian.
A dog prone to biting is a tricky situation - we inherited a shih tzu with A LOT of pervious homes - she was with my Great Auntie Anne for 5 years - she adored her and we promised we'd look after her after she died so she's with us for life - she's so anxious, especially with strangers, that we've had to get a warning on her lead for people not to treat her like a teddy bear - even tried to bite us a few times but I won't hold it against her - I'd be similar at the dentist without dutch courage 😆 - she's a funny girl most of the time (genuinely gives us a lot of laughs) who looks to all of us in our small family for confidence and safety - she would never recover from yet another home so nothing could make us give her up - she's difficult but she's family - if she was a large dog it would be more complicated but I'm glad we can give her a small sense of security - the point here is that dogs have complex personalities and, sometimes, complex problems - so do humans, and it's important not to expect perfection - if you have vulnerable in-house family members that's important to consider but, otherwise, be prepared to accept problems when you take on a dog as family - really not blaming anyone - it's important to have the right fit but going from an adoring Jack Russell to a very anxious shih tzu was a major transition which was not easy but she's family and we love her for all her strangeness 😅.
I think Peggy made a smart decision to let Archie go. Archie and Dr Scott will be happier. Of course this video is old now so Archie has probably gone to doggy Heaven by now.
Looking at those little fawns I would be kicked out immediately for cuddling them. With a face like they have how can you not just want to "mother" them.
45:06. Nope! Ed's not the only cat I've seen do this. Oscar does it too, and it's funny cause he's also a tux. Ed's just an *extremely* friendly cat, and him laying like that with his belly up is just a sign that he's super content. People often think of cats as fairly aloof, and while some cats definitely seem to prefer their space, some are very social and expressive, which might be why Ed is getting compared to a dog. As a cat person, there's just as much variety in cats as there are in dogs. Each and every cat is different.
Oh My Goodness to take the baby deer's away being so young... I'm glad Archie found a place to go. and Glad Emma found Ed. We are dog people but last year we had a cat living under our house that had a kitten. and It came out and decided my hubby was it's human. it was only a week or two old. Her Momma looks just like Ed. but she is Siamese we named her Molly. and she lives with our two dogs and goes outside to visit her Mom during the day. Momma lives under the house. she is very loving but doesn't want to live in the house. she will come to the kitchen and tell us if her feed dish has a pin hole in it. Haha.. and we fill it for her.

@@tiffanymorgan1059 absolutely agree this decision was what was best for her not her dog.
@@janealdworth4341 Yeah it's the same flavor of annoying as parents who refuse to get their kids treatment for things. "oh well our family doesn't believe in-" Oh so you're gonna let your child suffer cuz you don't believe in science? And you'd rather put cut up raw potatoes in their sock than give them medication that might actually help? Cool. /s
This is what I came here to say. ❤
Maybe a sweet senior cat or dog.
Have you ever consider that the dog just might be afraid of being touched!
Ed says don't put me in a cage I just want to be loved ... All day !!
What episode was that?
I'm so happy that Ed found a forever home with one of Scott's employees the head vet nurse
The black and white cat is a lovely cat. With a purr like that, I might be inclined to call him Evin ....... short for Evinrude.
He's also known as a Tuxedo Cat.
@@azshooter348 My tuxedo cat, Oliver/Ollie, has a perfectly shaped black heart on his nose.
@Russell Bond And the brand of outboard motors.
My neighbor had a cat who looks a lot like him. And his purring was loud! His name, oddly enough, was Motor. 🚗
The very picture of happiness.
arhcie and miss peggy, i am so sorry for the both of you...my heart just breaks...
Peggy has a beautifully groomed and lovely garden! Stunning flowers.
She seems like such a lovely woman, reminds me of my grandma, especially with her love for dogs too.
Oh I love ❤️ the Archie bromance. He’s absolutely gorgeous.
Peggy, you are a wonderful person! Don't feel bad. Scott is so great to take Archie!
Aggression can absolutely be genetic
This is my favorite thing on UA-cam right now. Love these full shows. I am very grateful for them Bondi Vet + Vet on the Hill !!!!!!
Much love to all of the animal lovers and their babies out there 🇬🇧
Yeah it is so sad they are banned here they are terribly misunderstood.
I love the Bondi vet. Chris Brown, and Scott Miller, and Dr Liz. Are great vets. They both deserve a gold 🌟
Emma
Scott has a wonderful rapport with both animals and the people that love them ♡
To any other zebras who are wondering yes dogs can have EDS but they have testing for them via skin biopsy. I don’t think hanna has it though because in dogs their skin stretches really obviously and usually more than just the wrist joints are affected
he gave his human a goodbye kiss; purest love
I for one am *Proud* of Peggy for realising this *is* what is best for her ánd Archie.
What a GORGEOUS TUXEDO ❣️
Going to miss seeing Dr. Chris since they uploaded the old seasons and him leaving in 2017 but loving Dr. Scott too!!
Hannah's so pretty. German shepherds are so beautiful.
I love her floppy ear.
Dr. Scott, you are so amazing!! Not only do you doctor them physically but also mentally , & emotionally. Like your friend says in the opening, Scott cares & you can't fake that😸🐻🐨🐷🐰🐭
🥹 Thank you ❤️
I hope Archie is happy. He doesn't look like he'll miss anyone except himself. He is a lucky dog, the bugger!!!
I hope archie had found a nice and loving family who cares for him n love him for being himself❤
sorry but that poor german shepard will still suffer with the same problem down the road all the owner is doing because of her selfishness is prolonging that pain. the best thing would have been to have the surgery to stop the poor pups pain.
Well she clearly got the dog in the first place from a terrible backyard breeder with very poor genetics.
Dogs will sometimes get that condition if nails are not kept short enough from puppy hood. The foot rocks back because the nails hold up the front of the toes.
Especially since the dog is more likely to take anesthetic and heal better while young.
That black and white cat 🐈⬛ looks so much like my Grandads 🐈⬛ REGIE, HE HAD😊
I love Ed the cat's "goatee" patch on his chin! He is gorgeous and as sweet as he is beautiful. 🥰
Nurses...the unsung heros of all medical fields!
I really love the completely genuine love this man and his staff have for all animals. A far cry from my (previous!!!) vet who only really cared about horses.
Hopefully you can make all the Vet Videos available to people in the US! I Love this show!!!!😽🐕🐩🐾
Use a VPN! You can watch them all with one!
I LOVE Peggy's garden!
OMG, poor Peggy😭😭😭
I really hope she's ok.
Dr. Scott would be a blessing to have anywhere!😀😀😀
Shame that Owl so glad that it recovered properly they are lovely birds plus the rest of the animals they are all so sweet
I hope they checked Hannah's thyroid levels. When my GSD went weak in the legs, it was just low thyroid.
That was my thought also! I kept yelling Test the Thyroid!
I imagine that they ran a set of blood tests.
I hope that the braces work for Hannah. This seems like it is a very huge gamble.
So glad that Dr Scott came up with braces. Obviously he feels surgery should be done, but he did the best next thing for his patient.
Charming soul-food provided by caring people who truly love animals .. ALL animals.
Rehoming Archie was best for everyone. Peggy gave him her all. It's nobody's fault he was too much for her.
I always put the animals first. When you take them in you become their life. They depend on us for everything and we owe them the very best.
Hannah is gorgeous. I too love GSD's. They're not for everyone, but If you have the time, energy and space there is no better companion. So smart!
It’s something about those beautiful male black and white kitties that are just so sweet I got one right now he’s my Oliver and he’s my whole world my little baby
35:05 did that dog really pass that apple shaped ball 😱😆😂
What that cats doing at 45:18 isn’t that out of the norm, especially from cats who are really attached to people, I’ve met atleast 15-20 cats in my life who will lay like that on your lap because they want scratches under their chins & on their bellies.
My cat dax used to do that before he discovered fetch was a thing.
Yes, I have been fortunate to have had a few who did that. We have had Balinese and Tonkinese and they get very attached to their people.
Lol...all of mine do that. Tummy up is great for rubs and chest scratches
Beautiful fawns...Secret Things amazing
Aww I'm a cat owner...Ed is so beautiful. My.old cat Sam looked like Ed
I don't know where this is filmed but the little village is just lovely! It looks like a wonderful place to live.
That _Secret Lives_ place is so awesome. What a beautiful old house, the whole estate looks gorgeous.
Hannah is gorgeous!!! GSDs are AWESOME!!! Eduardo is soooooooo HANDSOME!!!
I wish people would just look when driving because this is so painful to see just glad this Owl made good recovery
He looks, sounds and acts just like my sweet Dash. Someone is going to love that precious kitty.
I think it is real nice that Emma adopted the cat (Ed).
Got a love em!❤ I'm a cat lover too, but honestly I love all animals. Arch will find a home too. God bless em all!
Partner comes in and questions the cat...but not the camera crew? Lol
I get it, that it has to be partially staged, but it's kind of funny, even so.
I'm sure he knows about the show and the film crew at the Vet and like you said they probably let him know they were in the house, but not why :D
Ffs I cried more than Peggy when she gave up Archie :(
Ed is such a good kitty! He's the bestest of boys!
I really like Scott's personality. I hope Archie is able to find a forever home. He is a good dog but with in the moment of getting him out of the car he snaps. Other than that he is a good boy.
can we all just admire that Scott drives 3+ hours to save animals? I have a challenge for you... name 3 other people that do that, exactly!
It would also be a help if the German Shepherd lost 15 - 20 pounds.
Absolutely, surprised it wasn’t pointed out.
Wow I’m glad that that cat got found
The german shepard heather is so sad cause she so beauitful I know Scott is going to help her.
Get the dogs name right.
@@archgirl7797No, Scott wanted to operate.
I have been enjoying the videos. I miss having dogs, so I volunteer at my local shelter to help. Fostering made me realize what work it can be to care for a dog. It’s like caring for a child sometimes when they aren’t house trained.
I like Emma she is pretty and smart. She is very caring.
I’m a HUGE CAT lover forever!!!😻🐈😻🐈🥰
So am I
🐈🐱Me too !!!
Really loving the new series! Freaking awesome 👏 keep it up guys!
I agree...not to mention that she is overweight too poor dog.
The older that her “baby” gets, the more risk she takes with the anesthesia. This was filmed a few years ago so, prayerfully, she has consented to the surgery so that beautiful dog is now living a much longer pain-free life. 🙏🏼
Jesus, someone wrote an essay
yeah, those braces looked pretty poor. you could see the joint collapsing again under the braces as the dog walked away. I don't understand why the owner was so again surgwry when it was clearly the right decision.
Those baby fawns knew that Dr.Scott was their friend.
Hannah should be removed from her selfish owner. Why would you want your pet to suffer???
That cat is so adorable i know how you feel about it such a lovely sweetie it sure is id also want to take it home
Every Single animals are cute 💙💚💙💚
U guys added music it feels so much lively
Love that one ear up and one ear down look on the GSD
So funny that Steve called Ed a dog cat, as my parents have a cat that my dad named DOG! LOL
I have a crested gecko named puppy and my next reptile will be named snake because my mom says I can’t have one.
Ed should
be like the office cat who just wanders around
Reminded me of the owl at the shelter in Milwaukee many years ago.
What a beautiful/handsome cat!
Fell in love with Pirate ❤️
My one rescue dog had hyperextension so bad that he had flipper feet. It was awful watching him walk. But he was too old to have surgery
For a brief moment I was done without Chris but Scott has went past what I expected.
