I agree with you. The 39mm Ranger is a sleeper. I bought it back in November and it became my favorite Tudor in my collection. It will be a watch people want later on.
I like the Ranger and for what you paid for it it’s a bargain. The first day I got my Explorer I wore it to work and dinged the polished bezel. I say don’t be afraid of scratching it up-when it’s time to service Tudor will do a great polish!😎
My first luxury watch was a Rolex 6694, I loved it,but it was just a bit small for modern times, so I traded it in for my Omega 2254 SMP ( doubled my money on the Rolex in the process). When the Tudor Ranger came out it reminded me very much of my old Rolex but in a modern size. I bought one last Christmas and couldn’t be happier with it, the dial looks far better in person than in videos or photos. It’s now in regular rotation with my 2254smp and my Orange bezel Planet Ocean and I absolutely love it.
Great collection! A list of grails for me. Still in the Japanese/Chinese collecting phase, especially Seiko divers. I think a Ranger will eventually be my 1 n done Swiss, in lieu of a 1016.
I've owned my Tudor Ranger for 1 1/2 years. When I first bought it I was on the fence if I would like it or not. It took very little time for it to be my go to watch. And by the way I own a Tudor Black Bay GMT, S&G Black Bay Chronograph, Pelagos OG (Blue), and a Gen 1 Smiley Black Bay. The Ranger is a great watch and flies way under the radar.
Hey Dan, Amazing Review, I own BB Pro GMT, Pelagos 39 and Pelagos 42. recently added the Ranger. The Ranger by far is becoming my favorite. I get more compliments wearing it than any other Tudors, It gets more wrist time than any other time piece I own, Excellent time piece without a doubt. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Another Canuck - awesome! I had the Pelagos 42, the Heritage Ranger, and currently own the BB 58 Blue. I find the BB 58 fits my thinner wrist much better. On the fence with the revised Ranger - hoping that it works size-wise...This one looks great!
Agree you have to see it in person. In pictures it looks ok, but in person... WOW! I know they're not exactly the same kind of thing, but I had it next to an Explorer and it holds its own. Great watch!
Nice piece. I was tempted but a was lucky enough to pick up a brand new Omega Railmaster with a 40% discount. At that price it was the right choice for me. The 8806 which is dead accurate and the blue brushed dial on the bracelet. It’s a really underrated piece in Omegas line up but it’s utter class. Probably the finest field (time only) watch you can buy. It’s something you can only see when you get it in hand, which is quite tricky as most ADs will not stock it. Shame really. Hope you enjoy your Ranger. 👍🏻
The first thing I did when I got mine was take it camping. I even wear it to bed because of the awesome lume . I workout with it at the gym 🏋️♂️ 💪 I chainsaw with it and do all kinds of work with it. I too have a Hamilton Khaki Field but thus watch was meant for what it was made for. I wear it in the ocean and etc lol. Don't be afraid to wear it or ding it up . Because of its complete brushing scratches don't show up as much. Congrats on your Ranger 👏
Earlier versions of this watch had thicker numerals and indices. Yours look thinner and, in my opinion, much better. It’s subtle but put them side by side and you’ll see it.
The design of this model was just what I was looking for in my next watch. The clean unassuming face with a brushed steel case/bracelet and solid build quality that doesn't attract attention. The Ranger fits my style of a luxury daily driver like a Toyota Land Cruiser, well done Tudor.
I agree with all of this. It’s an unassuming luxury watch that will take a beating without batting an eye if you subject it to difficult terrain. But it is also very attractive in a subtle way!
Solid review. It's an all-around great piece. It's a rare example of a watch in which I liked it in the initial photos, I liked it in the store, and I love it on the wrist after 6 months of ownership. Liked & subscribed. 🙂
I bought the Ranger to complete my “Explorer” experience. I have the R ilex evxplotet in 39 m2 and in 36 mm. I purchased a BB Pro as I preferred it to the Explorer 2. And the Ranger to complete the “set”. Happy with all my purchases and rotate them depending on on my mood.
I had a Tudor Heritage Ranger and sold it to buy the new one. I haven't yet, because I keep coming across new watches I *have* to have, but man, this watch is total perfection.
Congratulations, it’s a beautiful and a great watch. I own the Tudor BB GMT stainless steel on bracelet, since 3 years and 2 months ago and the BB heritage (41mm.) since almost 4 years ago. I love both, everything works perfectly and I don’t have any problem with the thickness o diameter because I have a big wrist. Last month i tried the Tudor Ranger and I decided to buy it . Next week I will go to pick it up. Thanks for the video, very useful and great information about the watch.
I have one and love it. My only slight criticism is on the clasp. I wish the edges were softened, and that little piece that kicks up was removed (so the whole clasp were smooth).
@@bobdegutis302 ya I agree. If the watch is too tight that piece is irritating. But for me it is largely negated with the T fit…but I do agree they should have beveled that edge like the do on a Rolex, or even a Seiko Prospex.
I’ve been wearing the ranger loose and have gotten used to a loose fit, as suggested by my AD. too snug and the crown would rub the top of my hand. This is my favorite watch ever (so far) and I’m very pleased. Timekeeping is very good, over 2 months it is +15, a big improvement over the seiko that I am coming from
@@bobdegutis302 wow + 8 seconds a month is really great. That’s like 3/10 of a second per day, well within METAS/superlative territory. Mines gaining about 6/10 of a second per day which is second only to my AquaTerra which all things considered basically keeps even time at the end of the day, not gaining or losing at all.
Ive had mine since Oct 2022. Its absolutely destroyed. Ive worn in it in the gym, hiking, shooting, nearly every day. Flies under the radar. Super thin. Comfortable.
Had a Pelagos years ago, and hated the mini-novel written on it...far too many lines of text. This is super clean - love it. Also had the Heritage Ranger with the rose on the dial, but it wore too large at 41mm (for me).
The snake/buttplug hour hand has really grown on me. It’s entirely unique in a world where everyone seems to copy everyone else, and it’s actually extremely legible too!
I originally wasn’t a fan of these and eventually I grew to really like these. I’d still save for an explorer than have this but it’s still a great watch.
I'd buy it with white lume. I have a homage with white lume and a Swiss movement, screw links etc and it was under 500. Is it worth the extra money for a name? I thought so but I'm doubting it more every day.
I should have mentioned I purchased this watch from Watchbox/1916 Company. Not sure if that counts as grey market or AD, but it was a flawless experience and Will was an excellent seller!
I love my Ranger. People call the lume fauxtina but I agree with you it’s not. I think of it as 1990s tacticool green-yellow. I know that sounds pejorative but I’m all about that motif.
*Videography comment:* *_For the initial 25-30 seconds, a reflection on the glass arcs across the watch from two to ten o'clock, mostly obscuring the hands. Holding the watch in different spot of the room could/should prevent this._*
Bought one, sold it quickly and still think it was a mistake. It's a very solid watch. I think it was just that yellow / faux vintage lume that I didn't like
Photos don’t really show the color or dial very well, it’s a great looking watch in person. That said, it would have been even better with regular white lume.
@@ManoloVintage I do agree, it doesn’t look like faux patina to me, it looks more like a unique off-white. I think it’s outside the box and awesome! But I know my opinion is not the popular one.

Got my Ranger when it first came out. Really love it especially the quick adjust bracelet.
The bracelet is a masterpiece…to be honest if this watch had a lesser bracelet it would definitely be a lot less desirable on the whole.

Is it ok? Swim with it
Yep it's fine. It's 100 M water resistant ( 300 ft )

Much more attainable than some alternatives, keep an eye on the grey market and maybe you’ll score a deal!

They do really good things with their brushed finishes…imagine an all brushed Black Bay 39 heritage 🤤

Is the Ranger close to the comfort of your Explorer 39?
Yes it is and the perceived clarity of the dial on the wrist is actually better. My only gripe is the lume

Nice video. I wish it was 36mm, then it would directly compete with the Explorer. All the best.
I would like to see that as well, not for me but just for people who want a little smaller watch. I’d also like to see a white dial version.
