So when the HBO shorts came out in ‘94 (I think there’s 6 episodes) I watched them so much that these songs are BURNED into my memory forever. Back then, they’d gotten a springboard from Mr. Show (another show on HBO) and if you saw those episodes you were kind of in on the ‘gag’. They were real musicians, real comedians and real actors creating a fictional and crazy account of their history: two slackers trying to make it big as a rock band all the whole believing that they are TRULY the best band in the world and everyone else just doesn’t realize it yet. Then JB started making movies but The D never broke up and the music from those shorts was good enough for them to make albums, to tour and to make the story into a movie. ‘The Pick of Destiny’ is a movie version of those first HBO shorts and it’s great but if you watch those 6 original 30-minute shorts, you’ll totally understand what they’re about. Ive seen them live twice and they’re better than most ‘real bands’. If you get the chance, I highly recommend catching a show. 👍🏻
Put in my order for that t-shirt right now. I got the sweatshirt about a month ago and it is very comfortable in the Boston winter. Looking forward to showing off the tee in the spring. I got red with black letters so everyone can see. Thank you for all you do, Brother Jamel!

"Kyle took a bullet for me" is a short song, but amazing talent on display.
One of the best.
the Sasquatch song
The D did a series of episodes on HBO back in 97 , hilarious ! Find that and watch it , learn it , live it . It will tell you everything that you need
There are also subtle references to "greatest songs in the world" in the song. Like, the guitar melody is vaguely similar to "Stairway to Heaven", the lyrics are similar to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". And the "Thriller" thing you pointed out at the end of the video was probably intentional, too.
3:11 - Shiny Demon played by Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters.
6:17 - Ben Stiller in a dark jacket carrying light brown bag.
The member of Tenacious D, Kyle Gass makes his own solo music too. Please react to "Manchild" by Kyle Gass!!
Great Vid
Keep up the good work
Always rock n rollin
Take care & Godbless
Stay safe🙏
The devil was played by Dave Grohl from Nirvana/Foo Fighters. He also played drums on the studio tracks from that album.
