I've been wanting to do a Squirrelflight-themed PMV with this song for a bit. Originally, I had an idea about something inspired by Theseus and the Minotaur with Squilf turning into a monster of some sort, but I didn't know how to make it work, so I took a more Netflix's The Hollow-inspired route instead, with an ancient Greek twist

God this au. It's so heart wrenching. The loneliness Squrrielflight faces in canon is reflected back on this AU as Squrrielstar floats in enterity, she was spared her fate of being constantly criticized and used by Ashfur, Bramblestar, and even Starclan themselves, but she still has no freedom, no freedom from her responsibility as a leader but also no freedom over her fate or the fate of her family. It's absolute soul crushing. I love it.

Where they go along with the old code, the old ways, where they will learn how their clan did in the forest territory. Now it’s just all messed up in the lake territory. I haven’t read past the last Omen of the Stars book, so tbh I don’t know much that has been happening in the new series other than what I’ve absorbed passively from UA-cam videos! 🤣

this AU 100% has potential to be the next 'choose your own adventure' style warriors AU mapathon.
Not even joking, what you have here is literally a goldmine for ideas - the unstable reality literally sinks the whole thing into the unknown but inevitable, and thats just deliciously good scripting there. Its a plot device that can be very hard to work with because it slips into lovecraftian madness *real real easy,* but if you got it, you got it, and you certainly get it.

Oh I absolutely ADORE this au you've got going here. Beautiful art and a great choice of song to weave the story around. Squirrelstar fleeing into the caves at the end almost feels like it could lead into her becoming kind of a... semi Fallen Leaves-type character to guide a glitched hollyleaf out
We’ll have to see! I have a half-baked idea for a sequel, that I may or may not get around to doing someday, so maybe I’ll give your thought a try!
Okay so-I left the Warriors fandom almost as soon as I joined it.
I don’t like its immaturity and its premise, even for the age group it was intended for.
BUT.
I’ve always admired how artistic the Warriors fandom is. The video that got me into animation for real was a Warriors animatic. For years I’ve been learning about the books I haven’t read through animations by hidden master artists.
They’ve inspired much of my music taste, and they’ve taught me characterization.
This animation was absolutely gorgeous. It’s informative, colorful, powerful, well edited, and so narrative that you barely notice it’s an AU.
I just wanted to say that you’re the latest and greatest in a series of people I look at and gasp at in awe.

This popped up in my recommendations so I decided to give it a watch.
Lovely colors, very eye catching visuals, the framing of a good amount of the shots is quite nice. Lovely art all around and a very interesting story and concept.
(Criticism coming up, if you’d rather not read it feel free to stop here, I won’t blame you.)
First thing I will say is that I had no idea what was going on throughout the video. I read the Document linked in the description after I watched the video, which did help me apply context to the scenes, but it was very hard to figure out what was going on without context. I did not know that Squirrelflight had become leader at any point in the video until I read the document. I was very confused while watching, and the scenes seemed to pass at a lightning fast pace at times, which gave little time for me to process what was happening. This seems to be because you were trying to fit a large amount of information into a tight timeframe, which is a common mistake when people start out doing both animation and animatics (you are not the first person to do this and certainly not the last), though I believe with a little more playing around and using the parts in the middle of the song that you didn’t use, you’d be able to not only spread out the information a bit more, but also provide a bit more context in a much more viewer friendly way (aka, give the veiwer a better view of what’s happening)
Next is Ashfur’s character design, I did not realize Ashfur was the one running from Squirrelflight in tears until she killed him in the fire several scenes later. A way to avoid this confusion would be to make Ashfur’s fur a little more of a slightly darker Grey all around, as his fur looks really white in the video, which threw me off, there are cats with white fur and black accents in the books, so I didn’t really realize who I was looking at, especially due to the eye color.
Other than these two points you have a really good concept in this, it just needs a bit more polishing and planning.
Thank you for the notes! That’s completely understandable- Squirrelflight gets a little star on her forehead when she’s made leader, but I suppose it might not be totally noticeable! And Ashfur is white not only because of my limited color palette, but he’s whitish in the other PMVs that I’ve done with him in it! And my palette for this one didn’t have any blue, so I couldn’t do his eyes the right color! Again though, thanks for your comment!!

This is beautiful, there needs to be more of these. Squirrelflight was so used and abused. By Ashfur, Starclan and Bramblestar. And when she wanted to be her self she was criticized. I hope she becomes Squirrelstar she deserves it. But I really liked this alot. Thankyou for this masterpiece😌

For real. I don't get why like- everything is hating on Squirrelflight. What did she do to earn such abuse besides being herself? Starclan LITERALLY told Squirrelflight to care for Leafpools kits but got angry at her for it and her Heaven-pass is PENDING? This is either horrible writing or Starclan really just pulled a "jk"
I love that you mixed in a bit of the Hollow! That show was so good. This AU was made so well- I always wondered what would happen if Squilf became leader instead of Bramble.

pretty late but i just wanted to say i really like the cool concept of the greek ruins scenery and how instead of it just being like “oh this is how it’s gonna go” its all “this isn’t meant to happen” and starclan is neglecting due to it
something i find interesting is it doesn’t seem squrrielstar is the only one who realized how off this world is, because brambleclaw wasn’t meant to die, but his death wasn’t squrrielstar’s fault, it was hawkfrost’s.. does this mean hawkfrost knows their world is fake?

I wish she becomes leader, honestly I don’t really like Bramblestar, and if the erins just made her deputy just because she’s Bramblestar’s mate is nonsense, she had such an interesting character trait and she’s Firestars daughter. It would be very cool to see her as leader and take a resemblance of Firestar and such. It would be better if Squirrelflight and Bramblestar broke up, because I think they were in an abusive relationship. Ash fur wasn’t the right choice for her either way lol

Squirrelflight/star and Leafpool basically got the powers of the three! It's a messed up timeline, like the events of the "real" world are still kind of trying to happen but the actual cats aren't there to do it (Like Squirrel killed Ashfur and assumed the role of Holly in that way)

it was probably going to happen but here's like a little mini thing I would have done if I still wanted to keep the monster aspect maybe because there is so baggage maybe that's what happened to her and the tunnels with curse and starclan's wrath and also the issue of ghosts kind of turning them into more of a Cryptid due to the spiritual energy not being enough for the body causing horrible disfiguration and well a monster
