    Hello Claire! Life has been busy to the point I don't believe I've heard of any of these fragrances. Thanks so much for the reviews! It also helps to hear you describe your personal preferences and somatic responses so we can position our own guesses as to what our own preferences to each fragrance might be.
    On another note (pun intended! 😊)...
    My partner is red/green color blind, and also quite an experienced connoisseur of single match scotch. He's much more confident of his olfactory perceptions, and I'm much more confident of my visual perceptions. As an amateur photographer, he likes me to help him interpret color. And as fragrance collectors I like him to help me interpret scent. I've come to the conclusion that I'm "sweet blind" to certain sweet notes he detects. Sweet notes are really not his favorite, and I like them sometimes. A not uncommon scenario between us is I'll find a new fragrance sample I like that I perceive is largely floral, powdery, musky, etc., and not at all sweet. I'll present my wrist to him, recently sprayed, and he'll say, "Hmmmm. Not my favorite," which is regional for, "I don't like that, Darling." 😅 I bring this up because I think it has so many implications for perfume companies, influencers and followers, partners, and wearers of fragrance in public. I am starting to understand we really cannot know how we smell to others. Just like I don't really know how I look to my partner when I wear red or green. I would love to learn more about this. If I'm not embarrassing myself in that you've already done a video on this, I'd love to see a video from you on this topic. Just an idea.
    Have a great weekend, Claire!
    🦋🧡🦋
    PS Here's an example. I just bought a sample of Diptyque Fleur de Peau, EDP. To me it smells dry and powdery/musky. I love it. My partner found it rather sweet. I looked up the scent notes and sure enough: it has somewhat prominent ambrette (fourth most detected note per Fragrantica). That's veridical to me. I do believe I'm nose blind to that one note even though I do detect the other prominent notes.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes I agree with you, it's striking how much I can love something and how I can ask someone else about it and they won't like it or will interpret it very differently. I have had the same experience too with colour blindness and wondering how people who are perceive me, I've been told I wear a lot of brown when I never wear brown 🤣
      I really like Fleur de peau, I keep sniffing that one and also Orphéon and Do Son. 😊

    I’ve tried Silky Woods and Sunset Hour from Goldfield and Banks. Silky woods starts with dry resinous notes of patchouli and oud wood soften and sweetened with some powdery vanilla. Very smooth and silky indeed. Sunset hour is a brightly juicy and sparkling fruit cocktail suitable for summer heat in the land of down under where beer does flow and men chunder.

    Hi there!
    I wanted to share that I own and absolutely adore "Remember Me" by Jovoy and "Soleil de Capri" by Montale, two of the perfumes you've described. I recently acquired a limited edition "Bianco Latte" in the red bottle at half price. Despite seeing why others find it beautiful, it doesn't quite align with my personal taste, so I'll be parting ways with it. Interestingly, here in Italy, "Bianco Latte" refers to a color, a milky shade of white, which adds a unique touch to its name. Your reviews are fantastic-keep up the great work! 👋

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  8 місяців тому +1

      That's really interesting, I know that's the literal translation, I guess here we associate that name only with white chocolate flavoured latte drinks, which are probably the most un-Italian thing ever. 😂 Remember Me is beautiful and I can see why Soleil de Capri is a great choice for the summer. Thanks for watching 🥰

    Hi Claire - it’s fascinating hearing opinions on fragrances many of us have tried. Super fun 🥳 Ylang in Gold was my first niche purchase and I’ll always love her. Casmir, which I also have, is very different IMO. It’s not as bright, mustier, spicer and I get like cooked peaches. It also feels a bit vintage to me. I have a 5ml of Ingenious Ginger and have only worn it once. Need to try it again. Did you know there is a Lush scent called Ginger? It’s a fresh zingy raw ginger with some light florals and I look forward to wearing it more here soon when it starts heating up! 🔥🔥🔥 Remember Me is a love for me, but not an easy reach in my hot climate. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes I think I've always been a bit scared of Casmir because peach is not often a love for me. I didn't imagine them to be similar really, hence why I asked because I was intrigued to see if people agreed or not.
      Ingenious ginger is worth a sniff, the opening is very zingy. I haven't seen Ginger, I was in Lush yesterday sniffing a few fragrances and I didn't notice it. It sounds good though.
      I can imagine Remember Me being a challenge in warmer weather, it's very enveloping. I bet it could feel sickly.
      Thanks for watching 🥰

    I used to own Ylang in Gold. And I do now own Casmir and no they are really not that similar to me. Casmir smells more old school, is stronger and it has a way more vintage vibe. It's like comparing BDK Velvet Tonka to JOOP Le Bain! ---> while there is a resemblance between the 2, Le Bain smells way more vintage in comparison. I really love Le Bain btw and am enjoying Casmir more than Ylang in Gold because I found YiG to be too light-wearing for me. Although the scent itself is quite nice.

I own Casmir as well and there is something more in it and quite intriguing, I don't put the finger on it, I owned it when I was a teenager and still love it. Ylang in gold turns a bit woody on me at the drydown, it doesn't dismay me. I love Goldfield and Banks, I own Silky woods and love Ingenious Ginger too. I will never get over the unexpected generosity and kindness that I’ve experienced too. ❤ I also found the M.Micallef surprisingly sweet, and the gold, bejeweled bottles are not me, but they are super hyped. Really enjoyed your thoughts on these fragrances. Funny how we all interpret fragrance differently. Forgive Me is more a edgy moody day fragrance for me, but most regard it as a sexy evening scent. It does have a alluring dirty quality. I never think of leather when i sniff Alice, it's definitely an unusual scent however. It sits quite sweet on me luckily. I think claire Smurfygurly also had a similar response to it as you. With the more dark leathery feeling.
    Lancome jasmin d'eau is definitely a light wear for sure. The more i wear it the more i notice its quite fresh in an ozonic way. Never noticed a Lily of the Valley vibe but i need to think of that next time i wear it as i love that flower 👍

    Ooooh ambroxan sensitivity, I'm curious what that means for you! I've never heard that term before, but I was going to mention in your confessions video that a couple guys I watch often say that some folks go mega noseblind to it, and I'm certain I'm one of them.
    After 7 months as a fragrance hobbyist, I have no idea what it smells like and it is the main note in a whole genre of fragrances (Some folks use the term blue specifically to mean ambroxan heavy, although personally that's not how I use it). Because it's the main note in a genre, pinpointing ambroxan among similar notes which occur together frequently within a genre has been tough. (and I had some training in that skill when I was a barista)
    The thing is, I can tell it's there from two things. It's got like a freshly poured soda sensation and in my mind it's just a clear to white cloud that blocks out all other scents. It's distinct for me despite not being certain of its scent.
    If I wear it for multiple days in a row, I get blind to whatever imperceptible scent it has and I can smell the other notes way more prominently.
    Needless to say, this olfactory whiteout condition makes determining performance and testing in general very difficult because it's in a ton of fragrances marketed to men!
    Side note this: check out the comments on ambroxan heavy men's scents and note the disproportionate amount of complaints of poor performance for fragrances known for being nuclear. I'm convinced it affects a lot more people than are aware of it. Thanks for coming to my ambroxan talk.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  8 місяців тому +1

      What I mean really is that sometimes it's all I can smell of it's been done heavy handedly in fragrances, but I think there are lots of different forms of ambrox so I am guessing that I dislike one particular molecule perhaps? Not being a perfumer, I'm not sure. It could be some combination of notes that I dislike perhaps as you say! There are certain fragrances in my collection with lots of ambroxan that I actually enjoy though, so I don't know exactly what makes me like or dislike a fragrance.
      I completely understand that some people might not be able to smell it or might be insensitive to it in some way because ambrox is in so many fragrances in quantity and hardly anyone seems to dislike them, and actually yes, there's that whole class of fragrance marketed to men in general too that are based around that note.
      Thanks for watching 🥰

I think I’ll skip it. I also loved Solaris, but regrettably on my skin it didn’t last longer than half an hour. I’d buy it instantly if the performance would be better in my skin.
