In 1966 I bought a human hair wig. My stylist cut and styled and curled it and put hair spray on it. I wore it every day for a year. No one ever told me to wash it. I never combed it or touched it. I put it on in the morning ... went to work... took it off before bed and put it on the stand. It always looked the exact same every day. It never got messed up. A year later I sold it for the same money I bought it for... I don't sweat and it never got dirty. It was really beautiful and always looked fantastic. I think washing it will wear it out quickly.

Where is that wig from? I have been searching high and low to no avail for an 18 to 22" chestnut brown human hair wig (under $700), silky straight, preplucked with bleached roots. I would prefer full lace but will be ok with wefts if the part is far enough back and the lace is soft. The big thing is that I am caucasian. I can never find a wig in this color (my hair color) that does not have dark lace or an old white lady permatease and cut. I am hoping for something with a bra-type strap in the back as I have a small head and even when I Got2B the front, it can bunch in the back or be too wide across. So yeah, the wigs I find are either yaki, permatease with a Friends™ haircut, have black roots, or are 1000s of dollars (I live the Orthodox Jewish wigs but they are SO expensive. I don't even mind taking a 613 and dying it. This wig looks perfect but I know it's 5 years old so if you can think of any that would fit the bill I'd appreciate it. Also would be easier if I knew of an inexpensive (under $150) wig stylist in Philadelphia who could basically customize a normal wig to me because I dont do any of that well yet. Cut the lace and hair to suit my face, pluck it, put in the straps etc that I would need, maybe add some silk.... just make it realistic. If it's not obvious, I'm losing my hair and it's happening fast so I'm overwhelmed, not leaving my house, looking everywhere for a solution that doesn't itch or look rediculously fake. I see those youtube videos of guys snatching wigs off of women's heads and that is just my nightmare. oh, and I apologize I'm using my boyfriend's account. I'm not john LMAO

That is very informative., I have a question., I've been suffering from a condition called oily scalp which made me loss my hair daily since from my teenage years ( I'm 38 now actually ..) so , meaning before this I've to shampoo my hair daily in order to prevent from me getting an oily scalp / smelly scalp., until last year ., I have barely hair especially at my middle head due to hair loss., if I skip shampoo like a day , it become smelly until I'm so afraid to walk pass by a person because I'm afraid the smell that person have to face due to reaction of my smelly scalp so I've decided to shave my head bald., and what A RELIEVED IT FELT !!! so ., do you have tutorial how to apply human hair wig to a bald person ? 10Q ..,

Hi Ricky, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get cigarette smell and fabric softener smell out of a human hair wig? It's European hair, expensive wig, but a dryer sheet was stored with the wig to cover up the smoke smell. TIA...
What if it's a wig you wear daily and it rats and tangles because its naturally wavy and long? Do you still recommend to wash it 2-3 weeks? Its just a cheap temporary wig I snatched on EBay but it is definitely HH. Its just as nice a quality as I wish it could be. It was also dyed with red tone on it.
Its probably illegal in the wig world, but I soak this one in conditioner every night (RenPure brand) to make it soft and silky in the morning again. Then as it goes through the day, it gets dry and tangles in the back where its wavy curly like.
And also do you have any recommendations for products that I can use instead of conditioning it every night? Ive heard morrocon oil is the way to go.
this might be a dumb question... i am new to wearing wigs..but if you have a human hair wig that is a different color( like fire engine red or blue or something.) will washing it too much have the same effect it would on your own hair?the fading?
Care is the #1 thing to pay attention to when wearing a wig. Yes, a natural hair wig will fade in color eventually, especially if you are wearing a dark color. Be sure to apply leave in conditioner to the wig and place on a wig stand and allow to hair dry thoroughly. You may apply more leave-in conditioner once dry, if needed. Keeping moisture in the hair will help it last longer.

yes it will but if you care well it can last a long time
My mom died 9 years ago from cancer but I still have her wig. Can I donate it somewhere? I would love to do so as it might bring a bit of joy to someone in dire times.Should I take it to a salon and have them take a look?
+Edward Spencer Any local cancer center will have a bank of donated wigs to which you can donate wigs. Or you can also try the American Cancer Society.

Yes you would treat it the same as straight hair. Just be sure to brush gently.
