Exactly the right video for my current problem.
After the new fan came in the mail, I installed it in 18 minutes and the dryer was working perfectly again..
    Big thanks!

Thanks for showing what to do. Was told by engineer after buying this that condensing dryers are no good for lots of loads, one after another, due to over heating. I forgot this. Fast forward 5 years and lots of loads and not cleaning the sponge filter often enough. The fan warped and started to make vibrating noise. Then all hell broke loose. It sent broken fins into back of drum where they made lots of small pieces and lots of noise. Thanks to this video and comments it was an easy fix and lesson learnt on importance of regular cleaning the sponge filter in future. I know why you wear gloves now. That plastic is sharper than expected and you don’t realise it’s cutting the skin until later. Lol

Our Samsung heat pump dryer made an awful noise a couple of days ago and then jammed. Your video was exactly what I needed to see - the fan impeller was intact, but something (debris, cling film, the housing? Who knows) had melted onto the innermost flange of the impeller, and set like concrete. A few minutes with a Stanley knife and some sandpaper and we're back in business. We also know what to do next time!

My fan jammed against the plastic sorrounding it, not the cover but the main piece. I think this is what's causing these fans to fail.
    Fix:
    Remove top panel ~2 screws,
Remove control panel ~5 screws, ~cables
    Remove lint filter
Remove the access pannel to the heat exchanger by carefully pulling the 2 hinge pieces out of place
Remove the heat exchanger access block
Remove the front cover ~6 screws
Remove the right hand side panel (closest to the on/off button) - be sure to undo the twist clips that hold the wiring loom to the top of the side panel before removing it. The panel slides to the front before it will come out
Put shims under the motor to support its weight. There's only one mount for the motor, it's plastic and on one end. So the whole weight of the motor is hanging off of it and, across the length of the shaft ending with the fan, it only needs to bow a little for the fan to hit the plastic around it. Given heat and time, I think this will happen to all of the dryers like this.

Exact same problem - plastic motor axle mount sagging causing fan to grind against housing. Need to re-level motor mount before destroying a new fan.

same - sagging motor causing drum to jam. I also shimmed the motor at the fan end to keep it centered.

Thanks for the video. It helped me out. About the analysis of the problem; I noticed that the fan is too close to the cover. After some time it will rub against the cover, damaging the fan blades. Plastic parts get melted between fan and case, sticking to bith the cover and fan. So, I will order a new fan, but I am thinking of cutting away the circle shape of the cover an mount it at the back side, to gain some mm.
Besides this I noticed cloth dust between the tumbler and the metal case, a thick layer all around the opening of the case. That will have to go.

Yes, I had the same issue. But the plastic fan parts ended up some where in the sleeve bearing and that was making the ticking noise.

Bedankt.

    Hello
I have a samsung heat pump dryer that keeps totally switching off after about 1 min or sometimes 5 mins. Vary rare will it do a full cycle. Before I pay silly money to get it fixed I wondered if you could point me in the right direction of what it could be for me to fix myself please. Sometimes it will switch on straight after its turned off but most times I have to switch off at the mains for it to turn back on. Thank you

This repair won't last long, you need to put a jubilee clip around the motor bearing flange, it is failing and causing the fan to vibrate and contact the housing. I took the motor out on mine and put and new rubber bush around the bearing that I made.

Hi, in 90% cases the reason is a dirty sponge filter. There are 2 filters: one is in the tumbler dryer door when you open it, another is sponge filter on the left bottom of your machine. Please make sure they are clean. The reason why your fan break up is because of over heat. The best way to sort it out is to buy a new fan. There is an example:
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-Tumble-Dryer-motor-impeller-fan-DV70-DV80-DV90/333366786640?

Yes, I had the same issue, my Samsung fan was just a flat disc when I took it off, with very rough edges!
But I tried to see why it had damaged the surrounding as well, and seems the arm holding the fan also has movement in it.
But unsure fromThis point how to get that part changed

We had a 3 warranty repairs on our fan. The last time the technician was here he replaced the back part of the dryer as well. Apparently it was a clearance issue with the fan hitting the back part.
