    A decent video, showing everyone, that they can hear and see the problem , most people are inexperienced as to how the machine works they know the basics, But they can tell something is not right when they hear it, they have paid good money for a product , and it can be a lottery getting a good one.

      Thank you, I try hard to make these repair/DIY videos as short but informative as possible without the glitz and clickbait. My goal is to always solve problems! I agree on the quality comment. Though with a fridge, washing machine and now dryer I will no longer buy any Samsung home appliances. My grandparents had a fridge for 30+ years and not ONE service call, they really don't make them good anymore. Everything is a consumable.

    Thank you!!! None of the other videos showed this exact model! I really appreciate you making this video! It was so easy to fix!

    Is the dryer worth repairing? If it's a design flaw (e.g. thin metal, bad rollers), won't the issues just pop up again and again? What do you think of the class action suit against Samsung? They deny that there's a problem and attempted to have the case thrown out. A judge disagrees and the law firm is still looking for victims. The case would force a design modification and free repairs/modifications for victims. Will cost Samsung millions.

      Samsung is great at saying it's not a design flaw. Keep in mind this company tried to explain away exploding phones! A lawsuit is a good step but likely won't force them to change the designs. I personally would repair it one more time and then trash (or recycle for parts) it.

    Props on a thorough video.
    Did you consider or look at repairing the old drum? Maybe you had a source, but I imagine acquiring a drum and shipping would be cost prohibitive in many cases. I'm not sure what would be the most successful hack and whether it would throw the drum out of alignment and create other noises, but since it just separates and is not damaged, a think aluminum sheet and a few stainless steel screws out of way of the rollers would hold it - or some other hack.
    cheers

      I thought of trying to repair the drum. A few people have welded it. I think screws would throw it out of alignment, but certainly a possible solution. I got super lucky and found a seller in NYC who had the drum new, for $12 shipping. I have no idea how it was shipped for that, but came in all bundled and install was seamless (once I figured out how to remove the panels). Thanks for commenting and watching!

    Many thanks, CoderMan. The clunking on our has been getting worse and worse over about 6 months (been too busy to track down the issue), but as soon as your video ended, so did the load of laundry the wife had in there. I opened the hatch and didn't even have to spin the drum around... the crack was right at the bottom. Not just front to back, either, but it was splitting side to side, as well (guess I had let it go too long!).
    I'd really love to know where you ordered your drum from, though (as I'm sure would many others)...

      Glad the video helped you identify the issue. I bought mine from eBay of all places. A seller in New York, though I know parts direct has them or did.

    Hey I am curious if there is some sort of serial number I can look for so I can order the right part. Also how much was the drum? Is it worth fixing it?

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  Рік тому

      I believe the model number is on the back panel. It's still running for us so I'd say the repair was worth it.

    Would something like FlexTape or Gorilla Tape be effective for streaming the gap, and covering the sharp metal? FlexTape claims to work under water and up to 200°F. That means it should stick and not melt in the hot humid interior of a dryer. Thanks for this video and any help you can offer.

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  3 роки тому

      Hmm. It's possible but I'm not 100% sure if longterm it would stay fixed. I can't see an immediate reason why not to try.

    By any chance do you know anything on them making a popping noise? It’s the first time it’s done this

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  3 роки тому

      Hard to say. Is there a piece of metal or other part in the way of the drum or rollers? Could also be a bad roller causing a misalignment issue.

    My dryer has an irratic belt slapping sound when you put wet clothes in it and then goes away as the clothes dry. Any ideas what to look at?

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  3 роки тому

      That is most likely a loose tensioner or frayed/loose built. If you watch this video until the removal of the drum you'll see a belt routing around, I would look at these touch points to ensure there is no slop on the drive process.

    • @onemoreboat

      @@CoderMan I installed a new tensioner and belt and it still makes the slapping noise.

      @@CoderMan Actually I was wise-cracking you. (I didn't watch the whole video). Dryers don't have a water drain line, dummy. Then I read your reply and thought you still don't get it. So I watched more of the video and saw the actual water line, which mine doesn't have and never has. So, googled a bit, and low and behold "steam dryer". So, please forgive my dumb comment. This old dog just learned a new trick. Ha ha. Nice video by the way. Thanks.

    consider change of title, to Replace Samsung Dryer drum.

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  4 роки тому

      Essentially that is what's done in this video. The title is to provide a solution to the problem. Thank you for watching and the suggestion.

      @robbywallace9402 4 роки тому +2

      Definitely don't. I found this because of the tittle. It's how most people that don't what is wrong with the dryer are going to search.

    you should change the title to REPLACING DRUM, not fixing as fixing means repairing the current damaged thing which is broken... otherwise good video, but please fix the title.

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  3 роки тому +1

      Appreciate the feedback, the fixing is in reference to fixing the dryer, not the drum specifically. I can see how it could be similar though.
