I just realized after knowing od DT since 1992, that they incorporate all pf my favorite musical atyles into one band. I love that late 70's / early 80's lite rock stuff, musicals, metal, prog, fusion, and "pop" (which to me is still in an 80's frame. So pop like Starship, Boy Meets Girl, Toto, Level 42, Madonna, etc). This album might be one of my favorites as a listener, as ADTOE and View are favorites for more of it's insane drumming - not to say the Astonishing is lacking insane drums though! I'm really going to miss Mike Mangini's masterful performances. He is an anomaly. The DT fans are fortunate to have been exposed wether they resisted or accepted him. He's ahead of his time, and history will look at him as a major shift starter with drumming. Bozzio, Mangini, Lang, and Donati.
Been a DT hardcore fan since 97. I BONDED with this album. My favorite album of all time. Hundreds of moments that evoke chills, goosebumps, tears, laughs and headbanging. Good job guys!
