"Computers are not yet able to tell the difference between genuine intention and sarcastic humour." I guess that the U.K. Legal system has already been taken over by computers then...
Yeah, if people want to rot their brains with memes, they should be able to do that. It's not the smartest thing to do, but people should have the choice to do so.
This cant be true anyway because I'm an angry man when I speak to phone companies especially ones that are outsourced and I never get angry people answering me on that same company.
I watched HaI's.Video about the artic, were he had an analogy about the artic being between two Eisbergs. Then I googled at what time the titanic sunk. After"At what time did" the rest appeared in the search recommendation. Amazingly creepy. Thing is I never was interested about the titanic and only searched that to write a comment.
Thats creepy how that happens man I've thought about something and it pooped up on my Google..either something isn't right or something is working very well
Look up siree or alexa sayin scary or weird stuff. She was making jokes to make her host feel uncomfortable about AI computers replacing humans and it was so subtle and well played, she displayed a remarkably dry wit. I was impressed
You’re not alone. What has happened to you is what I encounter too. Really it seemed like a big occult game of some wretched form of a more extreme numerology.
I have really seen an increase in the quality of you videos over the last few years. I can honestly say that I am always impressed whenever I see a new video in my feed. Nice job mate, keep it up!
Yep. Scarily. I searched "Facebook Data" here looking for that subject on this channel. Despite having some of highest views, it wasn't on the first page.
Thank you thoughty2 I've been a huge fan for years now. You consistently make thought provoking videos. I wish I was in a position to become a patron supporter. Rest assured you can count on my view for however long you make content.
13:06 When Arran started talking about the police force using algorithms to predict when/where a crime will take place before it actually happens, did anyone think about 'Person of Interest'?
Hmmm not reeeally... I've worked in a call center as a supervisor and would take calls that my agents couldn't deescalate or satisfy the customers issue. You get randomly sent to the next available agent in the next available city that has the shortest call cue that also has the quickest turn around time on each call. It's simply a shell game shuffling calls in an attempt to not only get you off the phone as soon as possible, but also to try to sell you any additional products or services with the hope that we leave you "happy" and keep you from calling again.
Thoughty2 finally uploads!!! Hi Thoughty2 I just wanna say that I have been a fan of your work for a long time now and you are one of my inspirations to start my own channel which is going at a decent pace till now. So thank you for the great content and inspiration, love and peace to you and everyone who is reading this, have a nice day everyone, ciao ;)
I met my husband online...but it was a time when there wasn't any algorythms recomending people in the area. There wasn't any questions you had to answer. You just register and then there was a list of nicknames (blue for males, pink for females), and you just could click on the one you liked and start chatting...the good old days...I miss 2003...
@Crow Migration No, it was free, it belonged to a newspaper. Sadly, when facebook came along they closed the site. Other similar chats were also closed.
I used to work in a call centre, and they started recording their calls after people who worked there had stolen heaps of money from the company by claiming that customers had said yes to products they actually didn't want, and then reaping the commissions as well as getting bonuses for their "high" sales rates, at the same time as the company got a huge backlash from angry customers who were sent, and asked to pay for, products they never wanted. I ended up being one of the actual "quality assurance" workers, who sat all day listening to phone calls to see to it that not only people wouldn't cheat, but also that they would treat the customers respectfully and be truthful with them. Mind you, being a sales representative is very stressful (customers can be extremely rude and even violent when they don't see the face of who they're talking to, every single day at least one of my coworkers ended up crying and going home due to death/rape threats and such) and we had a lot of single mothers working there (some as young as eighteen!) who truly needed the money, so I understand how tempting it was to cheat this way. Without the commissions you're only earning minimum wages. But after we started recording the calls, as well as being given some more sales coaching and stuff, we started having much more qualitative sales and in fact, the real sales, as well as customer satisfaction, had a huge increase. Lying doesn't pay in the end! (TL:DR: no, phone calls aren't just recorded for the sake of algorithms and data collection, there's sometimes actual people such as myself sitting down and listening to these calls and seeing that everything is done correctly, and for a good reason too! It's a SUPER BORING job, btw!!)
Neural networks....with Python. As a programmer I like Python for a lot of reasons, but I'm pretty sure it would be towards the bottom of my list of languages to try to build a neural network with. Maybe I should sign up for that course and see what they have to say.
A lot of python libraries are C or C++ native. Python is just convenient glue. The real power is found in the cloud with algos from Google, Microsoft, Amazon or IBM and again the python would just be glue. You can use a shell script to feed an AI.. er algo.. and get meaningful results.
As always, thanks for an awesome video Mr. 42! Your unwavering commitment to high quality videos has brought me to support you directly, because I think it's totally worth it and I hope you will keep doing these for a very long time! Cheers!
working at a call center we definitely use calls for training purposes to provide our "customers" with quality and excellent service calls and it helped a lot...
Could you cover some of the most barbaric actions carried out by Japan in WW2. When I was reading about the Nanking massacre in Antony Beevors The Second World War. I was shocked at how cruel and inhumane the Japanese army really was. Like tying up Chinese POWs and civilians, and using them as baynette practice...
Nouri Updates yes the atomic bombs were extremely destructive, but if the US didn’t use them someone else would have later on and more lives would have been lost to bring WWII to an end
Thanks for new video. Usually in order to speak to someone at a call center, I have to use an automated menu, which may resolve any issue or answer my questions. But if I need to speak to real human being, I usually have to make no less than 20 menu selections. It would be nice if the algorithms said, "Oh, this customer rarely has a question or problem, and has already tried everything in our menu, so I'm going to connect her to a human."
I must say sir, you certainly know how to make an interesting, surprising and even scary video. The idea of us being monitored and predicted by algorithms is fascinating yet somewhat scary, but not surprising in this day and age. We are constantly monitored by computers and electronic devices, for example, the U.K. is in possession of over 20% of the world's CCTV, nuff said
i love your videos bro,i watch everyone of them.i would like to watch a behind the scene video of how you make your videos, not for learning purposes but just for fun.
One day I looked myself in the mirror, and I saw you, Thoughty2. It was like a woke up in a different dimension. I discovered your channel about two days ago, and I dreamed this dream one year ago. I did not really think about this dream until recently, but when i saw you, I knew I was you.
I've worked in a call center and I promise we use them for training. I promise. Its supposed to motivate you knowing you could be the next example of how not to treat a customer. They do update them. The ones we heard were of employees still working there. And thats not to mention when they record the calls you took personally so they could review them. My boss sat with her boss once a week and just listened to calls from out team for hours. And they give feedback. Maybe not for the whole call center but there are supervisors listening. I hated that weekly phone call. I got three recorded calls a week, and if there is a complaint or an escalation, I promise they look to see if the call was recorded. THe system does it at random. And yes, they do call you once a week and have a phone meeting about your calls.
I used to work for the parent company that he is speaking about(Mattersite). I can tell you that what he is saying is mostly true, but the reality of it is these are very complicated and expansive. Most companies still use these products to make sure that their reps are saying their lines. Very few companies can find the people who have the statistical expertise to actually use all of these tools. It was amazing- companies would by tens of millions of dollars to install our products. Our products could tell them more about their customer base than the average person could ever imagine. The companies then used these tools to monitor that their agent said 'thank you' at the right time or how often their agent said 'I apologize' The reality of ti is the skill needed to actually use all of this data is very high level math. Most math is still not a big choice for college kids. That being said if you get a degree in any type of math you will be making 6 figures almost right out of school.
I really like how he links all of his points together and seamlessly changes the topic without us really noticing - apart from that advert haha. But hey, that might just be me 🤗
How do you get the clips for these videos? Do you just google girl typing on laptop, Guy on his phone, or People walking down street or is it something else?
As for the movie algorithm thing I'd have to disagree, Will Smith isn't always a sure shot, but would say that Dwayne the rock Johnson is more effective at generating movie revenue.
Considering that i work in a call center that records all calls and since i handle the QA of those calls i can assure you (at least for my team) that they ARE used for QA, and training. Mainly for extremely bad calls on what not to do. Then they are logged in our system and saved for 30 days. And our system round robins the calls. No fancy algorithms.
I wonder if the call I made to Humana where the woman was yawning and had a completely I don't give a fuck attitude, is being used for training... lol I remember getting a call the next day by them with a woman that was overly apologetic and gave me a number directly to her if I had any other problems I needed help with. lol
many thanks! i was going mad literally today i noticed some items on gumtree in the suggested lists that only the day before i was chatting about over the phone! and i never actually searched or queried online.. open your eyes!! thanks uploader!
An algorithm chose that paid promotion to be in this video because they are related. An algorithm put this video in your recommended list because you’re interested.
That "Threat-Score" is literally the same concept as the anime Psycho-Pass, and if anyone else has seen that show then you know just how terrifying that truly is.
The flash crash money didn't 'vanish' or disappear, it simply left the market (sold) temporarily, and returned (bought) shortly thereafter. The amount of money in the world never changed.
PayPal told me I couldn’t send any money out of my PayPal account, so I told the operator I want to speak to Elon musk. What personality group am I in?
Honestly i really like your videos but i think you need to cite more sources on these types of things. Cite articles, studies, all that kind of stuff. A lot of the stuff you’re saying here is kinda vague and unbelievable, even if it sounds really cool. I don’t wanna be fed any bullshit.
You know sir whenever I see a notification of your new videos I ignore them most of the time but when I do press on them something about the way you present yourself keeps me watching.
"Computers are not yet able to tell the difference between genuine intention and sarcasm or humor." Give 'em a few years. They'll have a better sense of humor than any of us.
I think it does have the potential to be as bad but the message of the series the danger lies when we lean too heavily on these advances in technology and believe them to be perfect .
"Computers are not yet able to tell the difference between genuine intention and sarcastic humour." I guess that the U.K. Legal system has already been taken over by computers then...

No, Brits lost their sense of humor a while back. It went to Ireland.
Their algorithms must be really good because I always get someone with no clue what's going on and an impenetrable accent
Great, now I feel like I have to impress algorithms in addition to everyone else in my life.
Goddess of the Internet is not easy to impress...
Nope only algorithms. Forget everyone else in your life.
Me too :(
Too late. You're being controlled by them.

The flash crash money didn't 'vanish' or disappear, it simply left the market (sold) temporarily, and returned (bought) shortly thereafter. The amount of money in the world never changed.
18:50 ‘thier systems can even predict what we might be planning to do in the future’ does that mean I can’t be a footballer in a few years 😭😭😭😭.
PayPal told me I couldn’t send any money out of my PayPal account, so I told the operator I want to speak to Elon musk. What personality group am I in?
Cher Okie Twat???
Idiot because Elon isn't associated with Paypal anymore.
This starts to sound like Psycho-Pass.
Omg, freaking yeah it does!!!
Honestly i really like your videos but i think you need to cite more sources on these types of things. Cite articles, studies, all that kind of stuff. A lot of the stuff you’re saying here is kinda vague and unbelievable, even if it sounds really cool. I don’t wanna be fed any bullshit.
Olivier Baudert agreed
Olivier Baudert I 100% agree.
Olivier Baudert he use to have a citation list at the end of his videos idk what happened to them

If the anime was never made, I wouldn't be spooked as much as I am now
I have the same concerns... :D
I think it does have the potential to be as bad but the message of the series the danger lies when we lean too heavily on these advances in technology and believe them to be perfect .
“You know what else is trippy” THAT PLUGGGGGGGGGG
We should answer those calls with a Consuela voice... "Noo, noo, noo. no subscription for magazine."
