No Self, No God, No Problem

- Recently I have been talking about how nonduality is integrated into and expressed in everyday life. In the past couple of episodes I have been addressing moral and political decisions, such as politics and war. Specifically I have talked about the Gaza war and dualistic American politics of right versus left, conservatives versus liberals, Republicans versus Democrats.
The responses I have received indicate to me that I am not communicating very well that nonduality is not political position or a worldview or a philosophy or a religion or an idea or a principle or something like that. That means that I need to get back to basics once again. So that is what I am doing today.
I have said before that I see two approaches to awakening to Ultimate Reality. Self-inquiry and God-inquiry. We look inward in search of a self and we look outward in search of a God. Both inquiries end up in the same place: the realization that there is no self and no God.
What I mean by that is that there is no separate self and separate God as traditionally understood. When it is seen that there is no separate self and separate god, it is seen there is no problem. All problems, including the problem of suffering and the problem or evil drop away when Reality is seen.
Fantastic video. So thorough and clear. Oh how I wish the recent video on the Holy Spirit was of this calibre.
Another fantastic video. Thank you, Marshall for being willing to go over the fundamentals and help so many uncover this truth.
How helpful. This is the Christianity I would want my children to learn about. It would also be very helpful for my minister🙂.
Unbelievable wisdom. Thank you Marshall for speaking the Truth. 🙏
Anam Thubten, a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, has written a book titled “No Self, no Problem”. I wonder if you are familiar with it.
Thankyou Marshall . For your energy and effort. Very helpful .
No self: that thing inside of you that would make you run out of the house if it were on fire, is, by definition, not "you."
@MarshallDavis
Where does Jesus fit into all this though ?
I mean, is he alive ?
Sweet.
Please comeback with colours!! 😋🙏🦓🐼🦨
Thank you, Marshall, for this elaborate explanation of what the Buddhists and the Sufis know.
You have brought out what the Sufi, Rumi, stated as, "I searched for God and found only myself and I searched for myself and found only God" and beautifully combined it with what Job 19:26 said, "And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God", and come up with the reality that has eluded many a Christian, for long. But even your explanation will not be easily acceptable to some.
Until we let the God of the Old Testament by the wayside, the God Jesus taught about, SHALL NEVER be sought by Christians!
Interesting and both comforting and disturbing in my opinion. Almighty "GOD" Created man in His Image and Likeness, then turns us loose in this existence (life) to serve and choose whom and what we "Will". Tested is what we all are and everything we do determines our "Cosmic Identity" whether Good and/or bad. I chose Righteousness and know Savior said "Blessed are those who Wash their hands and Robes". Only by a closer (closest) walk with Christ Yeshua can we WIN.

So Pantheism is my takeaway from this video.
Depends. Have you REALIZED what is pointed to/within as God/Self? Pantheism is more often than not just a mental construct, much like the Trinity, which kinda says the same thing, but with less baggage than most minds are willing to accept. Penetrating the construct, an Emptiness is Realized; Oneness of every appearance (mental/physical/otherwise) within THAT which has been Realized. In/As that Realization, there is a discernment between knowing (i.e., facts) and Knowing (i.e., the end of the Existential dilemma/search). Ergo, No Self, No God, No Problem.
I think Marshall is saying that as God is the ground of being, so the universe is an emanation of Him.
@@joshuabaehr44 And, non-duality specifically points to 'no other'; therefore, Realizing Self as Source/Ground drops the entire weight of the world bound in the web of thought. Quite enlightening.
What is meant by pantheism? If it is an idea then that could hardly be it.
@@mattskionet I went with the basic definition for the discussion. But you're right, it is useful to know what someone means by it in context to see whether or not their using it as an expression for what seems to be appearing, or pointing to Truth, prior to mind and its ideas. Only Truth will set one free (i.e., from the idea one's ever been bound), but first it will irritate, annoy, and piss one off, hehe. 😂
