By far the coolest woodworker I know on UA-cam. Besides his skills I very much like his sense of humor plus the fact that he doesn't seem to take things too serious.
Spot on. It's very obvious to see he's an extremely talanted woodworker, which is what got me orginally subscribed, but couple that with a funny fun loving personality (as opposed to a ton of monotone, serious, dead behind the eyes alternatives). UA-cam gold right there!!
" I Love my job" How many people can say that and mean it ? I'm 60yrs old and never could say that. I had a job to pay bills. Now I wish I would have gone a different direction years ago. Keep up the good work.
I lost my job with the pandemic and decided to start my own woodworking business. I am still struggling and learning everyday but I am thankful for the content of yours and others that have given me the confidence to try to start a business doing something I love. I rarely comment on anything social media wise but I want to say thank you and congratulations on your success. I am hoping that my passion will be able to support my family in the future.
I’m a woodworker my self for a living, One of my favorite memories about Jasons content is when he made the giant LEGO Man, He ends up oiling him up like a tiny LEGO Man athlete. Absolutely hilarious, He’s extremely talented.
Every time I watch another video by or on Jason, I like him a little more and look for some other way to support his content creation. He's clearly one of the people the world needs more of, and I am grateful to have found him as he launched on YT.
Very well said Daniel, I completely agree. Any time I hear another person in this space speak about Jason, it is always very complimentary of him. Wishing Bourbon Moth continued success.
I had the same experience. His quirky personality and humor has grown on me. Videos like this about the person in the videos helps me learn about their story and feel more connected to them.
How do you NOT love this Dude?!? His sense of humour and "chill" attitude are perfect and I learn something from him every time I watch his videos. And I agree: River Tables are way over-rated!
Every body should watch this guy he has a sence of humer and a really good woodworker if he was closer to me I would sit and watch him all day long go check him out keep up the videos Jason
By far, the best woodworker on you tube. I've been a concrete finisher for 30 plus yrs.now.but I started out making bird houses.and I really enjoyed it. So I bought a bunch of tools and here I am a few years later making tables, benches and cutting boards.but to be perfectly honest, I suck. But I have learned alot from your content. Keep up the good work, Jason.
I came here to see Jason and came away a subscriber to your channel as well. Bourbon Moth is my favorite on UA-cam and you did a great job profiling him. I live in Oregon, a little north of Jason and I wholeheartedly think he does his fellow Oregonians very proud. I thank you both.
That moment, when you see just 10 seconds of a shot of a bridge, and think...oh, hey that's home! We are just a bit south of Jason, who has become my favorite to watch for learning how to build things for our house. This video was really nicely done, and I very much enjoyed it.
For the first time in a few videos it didn’t make me cry, mostly because Jason is so funny and the dramatization had me hanging on the edge of my seat, I wasn’t sure if he would be murdered at the end. I’m glad he wasn’t. It would be ashamed. The closest I came to shedding a tear was over how BEAUTIFUL his work is, it borders on disgusting. Disgust at myself for not being this good at anything in my life...and now I need therapy. Thanks Justin Mabie and Jason Hibbs! Sincerely though a wonderful video on yet another wonderful person in the maker community ❤️❤️❤️! I’m so proud of you Justin!
Hahahahaha this comment is hilarious. Your work is fantastic and you don’t need therapy for it. You need therapy for everything else. Kidding (hehe). And yeah, I was wondering while editing it where you could possibly cry and I figured it just wasn’t gonna happen. Next time!
Thanks for showcasing this wonderfully crazy guy! I've been watching him for months now and appreciate this insight. Funniest moment that still makes me laugh out loud every time I recall it...was the video about the pants with the stool attached...the UPS guy just happening in on Jason as he tried out his invention...glue? No screws ..hehehe...go find it as you are pleasantly entertained and taught by viewing his content! Thanks for this!
My main test is whether I would want to have a burger and beer with the person making the video. Jason crushes it. I enjoy everything he does and the way he does it.
I am a home brew shop owner that started to get my feet wet in wood working after finding your channel. I went from chainsaw milling a black walnut to a finished tv cabinet for my first project all with the help of watching your videos so thank you. You mentioned there a a lot of craft breweries around you, have you thought about building beer flight boards? This is now my favorite video from you, real and raw. Keep you the great content, Cheers
I just caught hell from my wife... Its 1:30 in the morning, and ive had a few. Jason comes on with this hysterical look on his face and said "hello... im Jason Hibbs". I burst right out in glees of laughter. Your a piece of work Jason. You have a great channel here. Ive learned a lot. Keep on with the vids.
After making Shaker furniture for the past 33 yrs, the company closed and I moved on to a career in the health industry. Watching your videos and how you work just brings it all back for me; makes me want to make furniture again. I'm a fan! Keep the videos rolling :D
This man has single handedly inspired me to be a woodworker at the beginning of this pandemic. Thank you Jason! I'm sure there are others just like me.
This guy is intoxicatingly HILARIOUS! He reminds me of the good ole East TN boys in my area. Gotta sub to his channel after finishing the documentary. Thank you!
Really admire you Jason! Keep chasing the lion..no fear! You remind me of Matt Outlaw @731Woodworks throwing the hat over the fence and don't look back. Keep on! Brother Riv
Jason: I love the goofy side of your content but this video really shows us all who you are. Keep up the great work and keep loving what you do! Thanks!
Jason has quickly become one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch. His silliness is I think what makes him so entertaining, but his actual woodworking skills are amazing as well.
I have been going to UTube University for a few years now and have the attention span of a gold fish when I found your channel is was hooked love your energy and sense of humor is know how hard being a content provider is besides having to make the project keep up the hard work your killing it brother !!!! And keep your son in the shop youngsters need to learn the rewards of making things with their minds and hands .
I love Bourbon Moth. I love his humor, his skill and he’s all common sense. No wasting time, money and skill if it isn’t useful. I found him through a UA-cam recommend who knew they got one right!!! He’s just real no pretense
I started woodworking 3 months ago just to try something new and really not having money and very basic things. Bourbon has been a motivation and I hope I become sucessful
I started watching Bourbon Moth last year when I was laid off of my job and decided to see if I could turn my woodworking hobby into a business. So far I am having a blast and making a few bucks. Love all of Jasons vids and I have learned a lot from his channel. Nice to see this video about this talented man. His videos never disappoint..
Love your story, and the facts in it. Just one minor correction. You mentioned the glacier carving this valley in either 10 - or 10 Million years. A medium size glacier will travel at about 56 Mph and will create at least 27 pounds of pressure. I would take exactly 18 years, 4 month, 3 weeks and 2 hours to carve out this beautiful valley. This happened just after the first sighting of a sleeping Possum in Oregon in 1856. So yeah - you could not have been around for that. I love your projects and consider you an amazing craftsman!
I dig this bloke, entertaining and learn a lot from him. I would like to just sit and have a drink with him, just to get to know him. seems like a great fella!
I am a big fan of you and your channel - and I love your story. I enjoy watching your videos, I like your sense of humor, and I love your outlook on life. I live in Japan and have recently bought a house in Phoenix, Arizona where my wife and I will one day. settle down. I watch your channel almost every day, and I just want to thank you for everything that you do because your love for building has helped me with working around my new house. My next adventure is building an outdoor cooking counter with a few burners, a mini refrigerator, and a built-in Traeger smoker because sometimes my wife don’t like what I cook in her kitchen. Keep doing what you’re doing and Blessings to you and your family!
OMG. You totally have to do one of these on Mike from The Geek Pub, the 8-Bit Guy's brother, and cousin of Pantera's Vinnie and Darrel fame!!! That guy is amazing.
Thank you so much for this video of your personal journey. I just started my own woodworking business Knotty Dog Studio (part-time). Like you, it all started after I bought a new home (right before the pandemic though) and I didn't want to pay for a contractor to complete projects. I started with smaller things, which built my confidence. I've now accumulated a bunch of fantastic power tools and have turned my garage into a shop. I love using my creativity, being challenged, and creating custom things for people. Maybe one day, like you and many others, I can turn it into a full time thing. Again - great video and I'm totally checking out the "tank" and other videos recommended by your subscribers. Cheers!
I found Jason's channel when he built the tank and I have been hooked ever since. He is knowledgeable and extremely entertaining. I'm learning and laughing every time I see one. One of my favorite channels by far.
THE ENDING IS THE BEST!!!!!!! I would've been flipping out at that point. Soooooooo relatable all the time! I go by The Josh That Builds, you're a big inspriation man!
I really identified with your excitement over converting lumber into something functional. You have taught me so much, but in such a way that the FUN of it was the best part. I owe for my use of your "patented Bourbon Mouth glue spreader.... use it every day. The boat was beyond, well nothing I would even think possible, yet you taught me to build a six drawer dresser for my daughter's soon to be here twins. At first as daunting as your boat was to you. But it came out great and all because you made it seem possible. Much Thanks, Tom Byrne
Awesome story Jason! You have to watch all the way the very end, literaly 3 seconds before, to hear how you came up with the name, that was a surprise.
I just subscribed to your channel. When I saw you letting the "foreman" drive, it took me back to when we went for Sunday afternoon drives and my dad let me "drive" just the way you did! Great memories. You have my vote for father of the year!
Oh Jason, I feel so attacked. I haven't made a single river table yet, however, will be making on this summer for my channel. I'll just pretend like you didn't say that and carry on. Haha.
Awesome site Jason (another one that is!). I thought this was going to be someone reviewing your Bourbon Moth site and low and behold it’s YOU so you picked up another subscriber! I love the Bourbon Moth channel and this is awesome too! Thanks for sharing your content and being you, Slainte, DC🍀
I'm 41 years old, but I want to be this guy when I grow up. However, unlike all the other dreams that I got sidetracked along the way (death metal drummer, financial analyst, electrical engineer), I'm pretty confident I will finally do this one.
I have done many things, bicycling, woodworking, Boy Scout Leader as hobbies. I create software to pay the bills. I love it all. If I don’t notice the time or that I am hungry or realistically anything else I am in the right place. I love your content because you just do stuff. You show that the best practice isn’t necessary (panel glue ups without biscuits, dominoes or dowels). Truthfully when in 1 thou important? When you want a piston fit drawer not on a table 10” or so off the floor. Thanks for the great content. Entertaining and instructional. I love the start video antics and the Bourbon Moth theme music just as much as router the circle one, rough cut with the jigsaw then flush time. You freaking rock!
We've been a big fan since stumbling accross his channel, his demeanor and attitude is always upliting. Also, a nice co-incidence one of our twin baby boys shares the name Jason. Cheers!
My wife and I live in Arizona. When we take our trip to north west I hope to see you at Block 15. I’ll buy you a beer. Your the best. You inspire me. PS. I love scotch my also. Steven Storm.
He inspires me so much. I started doing woodworking for fun. Then started doing things for certain people. Love woodworking. Love watching his videos. Thank you for that video.
An inspiration you are. No, not quoting Yoda but you can mimic his voice in those four words if you like. I know nothing about wood working, types of wood etc. I am however great with math, measuring and can work a handsaw. I am currently out of a job so can't buy tools. But once I have the currency to buy tools I will be starting with my own projects around the house and work my way up the chain. Your videos are very funny and informative. Both of which are I think (personal opinion) are what make UA-cam videos great to watch. Love your videos and the content. Reclaimed wood table video is amazing. Loved how that turned out in the end.
I was today years old when I learned that "screen printing" literally meant forcing ink through a screen pattern. Watch a woodworking video and learn so much more. But in all seriousness huge fans of Justin and Jason's work. Well done!
Hey Mate, love your work...in Australia, we call lumber ''Timber''...CRAZY HEY!!. IM a Carpenter/Builder in Sydney. I love your honesty and Skill...Cheers Mate
Man your a talented dude ! I'm from Ottawa Ontario. Been woodworking as a hobby for 20 years ! No more like 40. Lol Been watching your channel for the last year or so. I'm in Florida for 2 months riding my new Harley and came across a little bar that made me my first old fashion whiskey. I'm hooked ! You have to try Forty Creek copper pot whiskey. Hand made Canadian Whiskey.
Hey! @9:56 you built the shelves at Tried and True! That place looks great, it really fits the atmosphere there, well done! Also shout out to Tried and True and Bespoken coffee, they're great!
Hard to believe you’ve been on UA-cam such a short time. Your approach to your videos is honest and genuine and that keeps it entertaining yet informative. I watched your bed video about fifty times before I attempted to build two for my kids. Let’s just say I hit every snag you said I would but man did I learn. The 2x4 hanger was genius....lol!
I'm with you on the river tables - I don't think they look all that cool - but I do love making crazy geometric patterned wood and resin tables. haha - also I love how many guys get into wood working because "it'll be cheaper to build".......and then two years and 4 thousand dollars worth of tools later, you've built 1 thousand dollars worth of furniture....at least that was me.
Well, your definitely not alone, knew back in the day I could build much better furniture than I could buy and aside from the junior high, high school projects I bought the main woodworking components (table saw, miter saw, router) and began building my own. Most woodworkers I know picked it up as a hobby whereas I picked it up more so as a necessity. Cheers.
Hi Jason. I think you are a star. You have given me so many ideas for the house I intend to acquire. For years I've wanted to build my own furniture, but never had the need. Now I would like to give you a challenge. How do you like the idea of building your own aeroplane. You have the talent to do it. Would you beleive it a wooden aircraft generally gives much less grief than a metal one. You live in the part of the world where the home built aircrafts flurish. America is the world's leader for home builders. So just for the funnies, give it a go. Thanks for a most informative and entaining series about woodworking.
You seem like an altogether decent guy who loves his family and is, occasionally at least, pretty funny. I appreciate your skills and approach to content. Take care of your fingers.
Totally agree with the router table thing, I totally dont have one of them made and used once and now has become a mobile dust collector!!!!!! Cool vid I'm hooked..👍
Ive been watching Jason's channel now for about 2months and i find him a breadth of fresh air when it comes to youtube content. As someone who is currently in the process of finishing my own workshop (albeit at a much smaller scale) i look forward to stealing all Jasons ideas and using them for my own gains. Seriously though dude, keep up the good work man :)
Love your shop, your approach to.your craft and your very very very dry offbeat sense of humor. I have a woodworking hobby, full time shop, thingy whatchamacallit that I am trying to work towards a full.time gig.... not sure about the content aspect cause I'm an old guy, but I just want to make stuff.... like you, I have a house full of furniture. It's all for sale.... ive built stuff for fundraisers, neighbors, worked for my home builder doing custom wood work and now people are chasing me down for work... hoping to leave the full time gig and just walk 150 ft to my shop each day.... thanks for the series, love your work... keep it up. Scott Kapton. Fine Creek Woodworking. VA Oh. I also HATE river tables .. like building a hot rod... I might like that 49 mercury, pink and red with purple flames and a blower, with shag carpeting, but when I sell it, I gotta find another guy like me... plus epoxy is crazy exensive
Jason you are a very humble guy but you are a very talented person who knew what you wanted in life .I commend you for that every success in the future.
Only just found this guy but the fact he hates river tables makes me like him straight away.
Well done. I cant believe there are thumbs down, has to be river table fans.
All 5 of them must’ve found this video.
Has to be~!~
haha :D that is HIlarious!!!
Or pallet furniture builders . .
Haters are everywhere. UA-cam is full of trolls with nothing better to do. This man is what America is all about.
By far the coolest woodworker I know on UA-cam. Besides his skills I very much like his sense of humor plus the fact that he doesn't seem to take things too serious.
Jason's obvious skills are what attracted my attention. His sence of humor keeps me coming back... Oh, and the Foreman's occasional appearances too.
Spot on. It's very obvious to see he's an extremely talanted woodworker, which is what got me orginally subscribed, but couple that with a funny fun loving personality (as opposed to a ton of monotone, serious, dead behind the eyes alternatives). UA-cam gold right there!!
And the Foreman is also the Captain of the boat.

Do you have any advice or something to help beginners??

I didn't realize I got into Jason's youtube channel so close to the beginning...
Same here! His channel is as good if not better than most of the maker OGs on here.
@@unamor me too, he's one of my favorites.
I really like your down to earth attitude. You are special.

I just subscribed to your channel. When I saw you letting the "foreman" drive, it took me back to when we went for Sunday afternoon drives and my dad let me "drive" just the way you did! Great memories.
You have my vote for father of the year!
I've only seen 2 river flow tables that were even able to say Huh. Great job, glad I decided to watch.
Oh Jason, I feel so attacked. I haven't made a single river table yet, however, will be making on this summer for my channel. I'll just pretend like you didn't say that and carry on. Haha.
Do it in glass instead!
Awesome site Jason (another one that is!). I thought this was going to be someone reviewing your Bourbon Moth site and low and behold it’s YOU so you picked up another subscriber! I love the Bourbon Moth channel and this is awesome too!
Thanks for sharing your content and being you,
Slainte,
DC🍀
Cheers!
I have been watching jasons videos for a year or more.. what a great video you did on him..
This man living the ideal life
An inspiration you are.
Well done!
It was a pleasure getting to know you better. You are very likable.
I have nothing but respect for you Jason. You are now on top of my follow list.
Keep making and stay blessed.
iam a fellow carpenter respect to you sir . we have a great trade and they can't take it away from us .
Hey Mate, love your work...in Australia, we call lumber ''Timber''...CRAZY HEY!!. IM a Carpenter/Builder in Sydney. I love your honesty and Skill...Cheers Mate
I watch all of his content from the UK. He is great.
I suscribed BEFORE I saw the tank video. I already knew you were interesting, but it took you to the "weird level" I love. Good job Sir!
Man your a talented dude ! I'm from Ottawa Ontario. Been woodworking as a hobby for 20 years ! No more like 40. Lol
Been watching your channel for the last year or so. I'm in Florida for 2 months riding my new Harley and came across a little bar that made me my first old fashion whiskey. I'm hooked ! You have to try Forty Creek copper pot whiskey. Hand made Canadian Whiskey.
The last scene with the stubborn tape measure just cracked me up. I can't tell you how many times I'm glad nobody is looking when that happens.
Love this dudes channel. His commentary always cracks me up and it is proven that you absorb more information when you are happy.
Hey! @9:56 you built the shelves at Tried and True! That place looks great, it really fits the atmosphere there, well done! Also shout out to Tried and True and Bespoken coffee, they're great!
Love this guy! He was one of the people who got me into woodworking.
I'm with you on the river tables - I don't think they look all that cool - but I do love making crazy geometric patterned wood and resin tables. haha - also I love how many guys get into wood working because "it'll be cheaper to build".......and then two years and 4 thousand dollars worth of tools later, you've built 1 thousand dollars worth of furniture....at least that was me.
the first part of his woodworking career/first shop sounds like where i am now LMAO. Im slowly becoming a huge fan
I started watching your videos since I retired 9 months ago. Really enjoy them.
Dude, the videos on the bourbon moth channel are hilarious! Ive been really digging them
You seem like an altogether decent guy who loves his family and is, occasionally at least, pretty funny. I appreciate your skills and approach to content. Take care of your fingers.
The desk shown at 9:54 is incredible.
One of my favorite content creators on UA-cam. Such a witty and genuine guy!
Totally agree with the router table thing, I totally dont have one of them made and used once and now has become a mobile dust collector!!!!!! Cool vid I'm hooked..👍
We yt community are glad to have you! I've learned a bunch
For me, it was a certain Doogie Hoser bench around a tree episode...
I love this dude. By far my favorite content creator. Not just wood working but of all time
Ive been watching Jason's channel now for about 2months and i find him a breadth of fresh air when it comes to youtube content.
It's all for sale.... ive built stuff for fundraisers, neighbors, worked for my home builder doing custom wood work and now people are chasing me down for work... hoping to leave the full time gig and just walk 150 ft to my shop each day.... thanks for the series, love your work... keep it up. Oh. I also HATE river tables
.. like building a hot rod... I might like that 49 mercury, pink and red with purple flames and a blower, with shag carpeting, but when I sell it, I gotta find another guy like me... plus epoxy is crazy exensive
Go dude - your honesty and reality on things is comforting and good to see that real people still exist!
Jason you are a very humble guy but you are a very talented person who knew what you wanted in life .I commend you for that every success in the future.
