My main goal is to build awesome stuff and share those builds with as many people as I can. If I can do that without being boring and hard to listen to thats a bonus.
I have been fascinated with building things by hand from a very young age. In a world consumed by mass-production, there is something so gratifying in the slow and meticulous process of creating a unique piece from start to finish" (excerpt from bourbonmoth.com).

By far the coolest woodworker I know on UA-cam. Besides his skills I very much like his sense of humor plus the fact that he doesn't seem to take things too serious.
Only just found this guy but the fact he hates river tables makes me like him straight away.

Jason's obvious skills are what attracted my attention. His sence of humor keeps me coming back... Oh, and the Foreman's occasional appearances too.
Spot on. It's very obvious to see he's an extremely talanted woodworker, which is what got me orginally subscribed, but couple that with a funny fun loving personality (as opposed to a ton of monotone, serious, dead behind the eyes alternatives). UA-cam gold right there!!
And the Foreman is also the Captain of the boat.

I just caught hell from my wife... Its 1:30 in the morning, and ive had a few. Jason comes on with this hysterical look on his face and said "hello... im Jason Hibbs". I'm 41 years old, but I want to be this guy when I grow up. However, unlike all the other dreams that I got sidetracked along the way (death metal drummer, financial analyst, electrical engineer), I'm pretty confident I will finally do this one.
I started woodworking 3 months ago just to try something new and really not having money and very basic things. Bourbon has been a motivation and I hope I become sucessful

I lost my job with the pandemic and decided to start my own woodworking business. I am still struggling and learning everyday but I am thankful for the content of yours and others that have given me the confidence to try to start a business doing something I love. I rarely comment on anything social media wise but I want to say thank you and congratulations on your success. I am hoping that my passion will be able to support my family in the future.
I wish you the very best! As long as you keep improving yourself everyday if even by just a little tiny bit, you will be successful!

Jason has quickly become one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch. His silliness is I think what makes him so entertaining, but his actual woodworking skills are amazing as well.
Every time I watch another video by or on Jason, I like him a little more and look for some other way to support his content creation. He's clearly one of the people the world needs more of, and I am grateful to have found him as he launched on YT.

I had the same experience. His quirky personality and humor has grown on me. Videos like this about the person in the videos helps me learn about their story and feel more connected to them.

I’m a woodworker my self for a living, One of my favorite memories about Jasons content is when he made the giant LEGO Man, He ends up oiling him up like a tiny LEGO Man athlete. Absolutely hilarious, He’s extremely talented.
That was an awesome clip. I'm pretty sure the LEGO man enjoyed it, too.
That was hilarious... and there is also the time when he used his beard to spread glue. It makes him such a fun person to watch and learn from.
He’s the Bob Ross of Woodworking. So soothing and enjoyable to watch and listen to.

For the first time in a few videos it didn’t make me cry, mostly because Jason is so funny and the dramatization had me hanging on the edge of my seat, I wasn’t sure if he would be murdered at the end. I’m glad he wasn’t. It would be ashamed. The closest I came to shedding a tear was over how BEAUTIFUL his work is, it borders on disgusting. Disgust at myself for not being this good at anything in my life...and now I need therapy. Thanks Justin Mabie and Jason Hibbs! Sincerely though a wonderful video on yet another wonderful person in the maker community ❤️❤️❤️! I’m so proud of you Justin!

I have done many things, bicycling, woodworking, Boy Scout Leader as hobbies. I create software to pay the bills. I love it all. If I don’t notice the time or that I am hungry or realistically anything else I am in the right place. I love your content because you just do stuff. You show that the best practice isn’t necessary (panel glue ups without biscuits, dominoes or dowels). Truthfully when in 1 thou important? When you want a piston fit drawer not on a table 10” or so off the floor. Thanks for the great content. Entertaining and instructional. I love the start video antics and the Bourbon Moth theme music just as much as router the circle one, rough cut with the jigsaw then flush time. You freaking rock!
As a wood worker I find bourbon moth a breath of fresh air.

I'm with you on the river tables - I don't think they look all that cool - but I do love making crazy geometric patterned wood and resin tables. haha - also I love how many guys get into wood working because "it'll be cheaper to build".......and then two years and 4 thousand dollars worth of tools later, you've built 1 thousand dollars worth of furniture....at least that was me.

By far, the best woodworker on you tube. I've been a concrete finisher for 30 plus yrs.now.but I started out making bird houses.and I really enjoyed it. So I bought a bunch of tools and here I am a few years later making tables, benches and cutting boards.but to be perfectly honest, I suck.But I have learned alot from your content. An inspiration you are. No, not quoting Yoda but you can mimic his voice in those four words if you like.
I know nothing about wood working, types of wood etc. I am however great with math, measuring and can work a handsaw. I am currently out of a job so can't buy tools. But once I have the currency to buy tools I will be starting with my own projects around the house and work my way up the chain. Your videos are very funny and informative. Both of which are I think (personal opinion) are what make UA-cam videos great to watch. Love your videos and the content.

That moment, when you see just 10 seconds of a shot of a bridge, and think...oh, hey that's home! We are just a bit south of Jason, who has become my favorite to watch for learning how to build things for our house. This video was really nicely done, and I very much enjoyed it.
I fully appreciate that America is 5 times the size of the UK but I am very happily amazed that, apparently, woodworkers can make a living making furniture. I understand that the people I know about are through YT, and therefore are earning something from that, but it does seem that there are enough people willing and able to pay for crafted furniture.
This is so much rarer over here. I only knew (5 years ago) one woodworker making and nothing else - he admitted that he earned less than £10 per hour much of the time. All other woodworkers have to teach or sell or do YT. Why? A lot of people are sold on the kind of product that you get from big box retailers. The price of antique furniture from auctions is incredibly low. All that means the premium to be paid for crafted new furniture is very high.

Hi Jason. I think you are a star. You have given me so many ideas for the house I intend to acquire. For years I've wanted to build my own furniture, but never had the need.
Now I would like to give you a challenge. How do you like the idea of building your own aeroplane. You have the talent to do it. Would you beleive it a wooden aircraft generally gives much less grief than a metal one. You live in the part of the world where the home built aircrafts flurish. America is the world's leader for home builders.
So just for the funnies, give it a go.

Awesome video...... not surprisingly he is exactly as he seems in his videos. Kind of nice to see that it isn't just an act or character. Most of the Content Creators for Woodworking are pretty dry when it comes to personality.... they have good woodworking knowledge, but zero personality behind the camera. Funniest moment that still makes me laugh out loud every time I recall it...was the video about the pants with the stool attached...the UPS guy just happening in on Jason as he tried out his invention...glue? re: kickbacks
In high school I got paired with a stoner in wood shop. Neither of us understood what a 'kickback' was. We paid enough attention to always put our hands in safe places but... we pushed a 2 x 4 across the table saw to cut a dado (wobbly-type dado blade) without checking the depth, which was deeper than the wood. The wood-piece, caught between the rail and the blade, was launched at my face at high speed ...whizzed by my head, and took a piece out of a CMU wall (!) 20 feet behind me.
"...Oh, that must be what he meant.," I thought with my nice, undamaged brain.
I am a big fan of you and your channel - and I love your story. I enjoy watching your videos, I like your sense of humor, and I love your outlook on life. I live in Japan and have recently bought a house in Phoenix, Arizona where my wife and I will one day. settle down. I watch your channel almost every day, and I just want to thank you for everything that you do because your love for building has helped me with working around my new house. My next adventure is building an outdoor cooking counter with a few burners, a mini refrigerator, and a built-in Traeger smoker because sometimes my wife don’t like what I cook in her kitchen. Keep doing what you’re doing and Blessings to you and your family!

I have a woodworking hobby, full time shop, thingy whatchamacallit that I am trying to work towards a full.time gig.... not sure about the content aspect cause I'm an old guy, but I just want to make stuff.... like you, I have a house full of furniture. It's all for sale.... ive built stuff for fundraisers, neighbors, worked for my home builder doing custom wood work and now people are chasing me down for work... hoping to leave the full time gig and just walk 150 ft to my shop each day.... thanks for the series, love your work... keep it up. I have been going to UTube University for a few years now and have the attention span of a gold fish when I found your channel is was hooked love your energy and sense of humor is know how hard being a content provider is besides having to make the project keep up the hard work your killing it brother !!!! And keep your son in the shop youngsters need to learn the rewards of making things with their minds and hands .
