Great idea! If I was close by, I would certainly trade vegetable and fruits for fish. Some years back I got permision to convert my yard into a wildlife habitat, in the middle of town. So I can grow them, unlike my neighbors.

I look at our local marketplace everyday & in the last week I have noticed a lot more people selling whole storage units, antiques, campers, cars, collections, etc. You can definitely tell that people are hurting for money & are willing to sell just about anything to make some money.
I sold everything I had and mobilehome so I can live in my truck campershell. Im a retired nurse on SS and dividends. Rent is too darn high!!

I'm disabled living in my truck 9 years now. Been keeping all my household belongings in storage . On the verge of letting it all go because I see no hope of being able to afford rent again. Maybe I'll buy rural land and live in a shed, but I may just go overseas to where rent is affordable.

Yep we got a throw away it's an American bully female clipped ears . Brindle expensive. 20k and up. She came over in winter there was still snow on the ground. I'm a sucker for homeless . Or misfit toys . She looked like she just got out of prison and spent all her time in the yard swole. Deeboo

I have no bills. No car. No credit cards. No contracts for cell phone…you name it I don’t have it. Why? Am I broke? Nope. Just been through times like these many times already. I can make it on my savings for over 10 years or I can just work part time at XYZ company and pay my monthly expenses (food, utilities etc) easily. But what I actually prefer to do is go to other countries where my dollar makes it much further so I spend about six months out of the year out of the country and the other six months I work some shitty job and then tell them to get lost.

@@jcsquared1111 spent 3 months in Greece last summer, only spent 5k and that included the 1600$ plane ticket I bought too late. I prefer the Mediterranean and South America, but lots of people enjoy Asia. Any of those 3 areas are good. I’ll be in Brazil starting next week.

Just bought an oversized semi-circle 2 piece sectional from an estate sale in a penthouse here in Boston for $250. They wanted thousands, I made an offer, and she said yes instantly. Yep I bought a $2,ooo ajustable bed the best you can buy in my opinion for $600 bucks this is a buyers market for sure anything for very little.
I grew up poor and learned to manage and save money, to live below the means.. That is the secret dont over exert yourself, more you can handle.. buy cheaper car and fix it yourself, When i was growing up, did not have youtube, we had 56k dial up and it sucked hard. I keep the same cell phone for about 5 years+ or until it breaks, and buy cheap android etc, i dont need 1500$ phone.
Yep, I learned how to live below my means as well and always say I could live off grid in a box! Right now I have an old phone that I just use with wifi. Am considering vandwelling as a snowbird from Canada (to the U.S.) to live as cheaply as possible and yet still stay warm!
If these are the last days we don't need material things...it goes to show that alot of these things that we keep accumulating we can do without.

My 80+ year old farmer friend grew up in Oklahoma during the Great Depression... He told when when I first met him about 24 years ago....

3. He saw people work on the farm all day for a sandwich.... and if his grandmother could afford it... they would send them home with another small sack meal for dinner.
4. A woman will do a lot of things for a quarter of milk to feed her baby.

Things like that make me sad. Meanwhile our usless government is sending billions to two guy in the other side of the planet. What happened to help you own first? I am beyond lucky, my house is paid off, got things that needed to be fixed done, upgraded, etc. My expenses now are more than covered with SS. I'm very healthy so don't waste money on medicare. What I worry the most are the children, if they parents can't even afford rent, what will happen to them? Now some schools want to go back to teaching online. At least here they would deliver meal to all the kids.
I don't disagree that the economy sucks but I think most people are living beyond their means and spending what they make, few people save money anymore and then when job loss happens, they are screwed.
Paid high pricing for 2-cell phone service. Over $130 per month. Now pay $37 per month for 2-phones. No service issues or spots of no reception. Where......check your local internet provider.
Me and my sister had to give everything we own to goodwill store and move because we can't afford to pay the rent that was going up 280 a month thank goodness our other sister owns her own home or else we would be homeless and the only ones getting jobs are illegals

Yesterday, I saw people posting outrageous electric bills. We are just now having a heat wave. Temps were mild before this and too soon to go on a bill. Next month will be crazy. I'm using the ceiling fan.
I fought my property taxes for 6 months. I won. I just got my assessments for 2024. They didn't go crazy this year but it's still a lot of money.
Insurance on the car and house keep going up. I shop them but then they go right back up.
Im very concerned about inflation and don't see how people are paying mortgage, car payments, credit cards, utilities, and food. Something has to give.

Maybe not the most responsible thing to do, but I went the majority of 6.5 years not paying car insurance on my leases. I saved around 7.5k. Luckily, I can look back in hindsight and be grateful nothing happened to where I really needed it and I got to buy a lot of things I needed for my family. The risk was worth not paying for air.

@dalemuzingo799 I would get insurance for the first couple of months after getting the car and let it lapse. Then, I'd reinstate it before I had to register it. I think I got one notice from Chrysler Capital about my insurance, but nothing ever came of it regarding the cancelation of my lease. I owed nothing at the time of return, either.

Feel for everyone who is going through this. In my life had to exact same thing twice. Also had to declare bankruptcy twice, it is embarrassing. But life went on and you do what you have to keep moving forward. Through the help of God and my third wife, we made it to my retirement. We built a house overseas and in 2021 move there. Made sure everything was paid for in advance do we have no debts. With my modest SSI we mange to maintain a simple comfortable life. Every night I thank God and grateful we were able to survive. I wash everyone there my best wishes.

There are many things you can cut back on. One paper towels, bodywash, napkins, trash bags used those plastic bags from grocery store and others.
Buy one package of ground beef per month. The biggest waste of money is why are you buying so many cleaning supplies ,,you only need one. Make them will saves alot of money. Sell the car and take public transportation, that what costs alot of money. If you really think about it. There is nothing wrong on what you do. Another thing look up wild fruit and vegetables on line..Just remember it really cheap living. Good luck

There is always jobs. One might have to work 2 or 3 jobs to add up to 1 jobs wages but it's doable. People will have to figure out the old saying of.... where there's a will there's a way. From my experience in life most of the people I see suffering are those that just don't budget right and/or live way beyond there means. I also see and hear people say, well I'm not going to work at a place like McDonald's 😢. Right there is the problem, they don't want to do what it takes to make things work they would rather get things free😢(hand outs) and not work for it. They also don't take the time to figure out what they did wrong and to correct the wrong and to live with in there means. I also see/hear people say I can't afford groceries and when you try to teach them how they can afford groceries they don't want to do the work 😢. They don't want to give up the sodas and junk food or eat peanut butter sandwiches or pancakes and such and shop the lose leaders until they get a food supply going for themselves, so they can't be helped because they really don't want help because they really don't need help and so they just cry about things and get things/ hand outs because it's easier.... until the day that the hand outs stop😢❤. The truth is that there are so,so,so, many ways to lower bills and to make money to keep things going ❤. People don't want to hang out clothes to dry because it's to much work or they use excuses like my hoa doesn't allow clothes lines. Well I say then get a clothes rack and hang them in the house. Unplug all appliances including washer and dryer and maybe think about going to the laundry mat to do your laundry, it's cheaper than doing it at home. Wear clothes more then once if possible before washing them. Take military showers, use paper plates to cut down on dishes, in the summer keep curtains closed to keep as much heat out,don't make extra trips like don't go out to do one thing try doing several, do your shopping on the way home from work. Make meals that stretch like casseroles and pasta dishes. Stop buying bottled water and get a filter to filter water yourself. Stop eating out because 1 you can't afford it and 2 you don't deserve it if you are having a hard time and can't make ends meet 😢. When you see a really good sale then don't just buy 1 buy as many as you can, even if that means you have to eat pancakes and such for that week to make your grocery money work for you. I'll give you an example... chicken thighs, legs are on sale for .99cents a lb and each package is say 6 bucks and has 8 pieces in each package and you need 4 pieces for each meal then each package gives you 2 meals. If you spend 24 bucks (4 packages of8) that gives you 8 meals. You can make all 8 chicken meals differently so you don't feel like you're eating the same thing every time. Now let's say you have a 100 bucks for your shopping and you take another 24 bucks and buy more chicken for the freezer then that still leaves you with 52 bucks to but your other things like fruits, vegetables, pasta and sauce, bread for sandwiches. If you can do this with great deals for 2 months then before you know it you will have your freezer full and a good pantry started and a cheaper grocery budget. YES IT CAN BE DONE ❤. hope this helps someone. ❤

I hear what you are saying, however I own an accounting firm in NY and for the past 3+ years I have been trying to hire Jr (new to 2 yrs experience) and Sr (2 + yrs experience) and I get either no response or people who do not meet the needed requirements (accounting degrees). Also most of my clients cannot find skilled labor and or find extreme difficulty also finding help.

I have tried to live my life differently, as I saw from a young age the folly of the system. 15 years ago, I started warning people, and 5 years ago, and so on. Most people did not listen. It takes a crisis to get people to understand the system they are living in really does need to be gone. That time is here.

Minimize your debt and monthly bills. Live below your means. Now is not a time to be making large purchases. Invest in your health, that being mental, physical, and spiritual. Get any big medical procedures you need taken care of, dental, etc. Save enough money to last you at least 60 days. Have a way to store clean water. Maybe invest in some food stock. Spend time with God.

I missed the sell at the high a year or 2 ago and then includes any inflated assets.......stag or deflation....some cash needed....on fixed income.... I never spend what I don't have and I've drawn too much money from savings...
Then again I bought house at low price in 2014.......yea ya get hit with hoa demands and property tax and insurance have gone up 50% since 2020! I refinanced at the low of home interest rates 2.5% 15 year.......$800.00 a month. I could not afford or buy this house now...... though expense and upkeep can be expensive, better so far and for now still better than renting!

After 7 years, the bank has to send you a letter that they cancelled your debt. I'm not sure about the specifics cases/amounts of it, but you can do research on it. Bank can't put you in prison for unpaid debt. Don't stress too much about it. The ENTIRE system is a $CAM. Good luck.

And the prices they are asking for their stuff is going down!!!! It's great! Free stuff!!

These people are living above their means now they cannot adjust. American rich and privilege is done!!!
I heard that all the money that they gave to us as stimulus they want us to pay this back. People would be notified within the next five years. This includes businesses that got money, rental assistance, 6:02 etc. I hope that’s not true. If that happens, I know I’m going to be hurting big time. The reason why they are doing this is our country is running a deficit.

Yeah i had to sell my stocks to pay off my credit card debit for my home business 😅.
Why didn’t you just borrow against the stocks or use the equity from your house?

Watch when the commodity markets here about the sell offs and the prices of both Gold and Silver drop like there is no tomorrow. When the people sell their precious metals in large amounts we all know what happens. The prices for the metals goes down into a buyers market. As a couple people have been bold enough to say. You could be seeing the beginnings of another great depression but on a much grander scale than back in the 30s and 40s.
Sadly, we all also know what stopped the depression. World War Two. Can the world monetary council kindly get off of those nice cushy chairs they sit in (paid for by We The People) and do their job to get ahead of this before there is a need for World War Three.

Because rents double every 10 years People I know are hanging out to their houses. They're just making sure to get landlord insurance and be really fair about what they charge for rent to keep good tenants. Not every mom/pop landlord is a price gouger

In 2016 I fell off my Roof hanging Xmas lights. I broke my arm & Hips! I sold off ALL Landscaping equip. Trailer & trucks!!! Thk God? Before Covid/etc.
my woman died from a heart attack after getting the vaccine, i got terminally ill and lost my job. we are 50 and i got together with her in 2016. we saw no real need to get married. so when she died i wasnt on the mortgage and they wouldnt let me pay it. im losing my home. im selling all my stuff and i dont know where im going to go. im on disability i dont have any family that will help me. i worked hard and did the right thing my whole life and im losing everything. im losing hope. i was an ironworker for 28 years and the same thing happened in 2008 but i was lucky and had someone to move in with. this time i dont have this option. this is just to have a roof. i never had any luxuries
You could have fault that because if you lived together and called yourself husband and wife you’re considered legally married. I would of gotten an attorney

@tamarap387 I was in poverty for years due to my ex leaving our family during the recession and wouldn't pay child support. I was suffering from SEVERE depression and I was at my wits end. I was seriously thinking about ending it all. The bills kept piling up, and I had nothing. I somehow kept my faith, but barely. And at what seemed to be the last minute before I completely fell apart, my ex started paying child support after 9 years. Then my special needs son was granted disability and then I got a great part-time job. I was also able to get a brand new car after driving around a beater for 8 years. All this happened in a matter of a few months. I was sharing a single bedroom with my two young boys at a friend's house and we were able to move out and get a great little house in a wonderful neighborhood. Sometimes, God will take you to your limit until He completely turns things around. He knows what we need before we do. He can make anything possible for those who have faith in Him and His goodness.

People need help out
During the actors strike that dragged on and on people in the industry ran out of money and I was able to buy some very good vintage movie collectibles including stills at very reasonable prices from people who told me before they would never sell their collectibles. Fortunately I had the money and spent thousands of dollars on old movie collectibles people working in the industry had to sell. They said they would never sell but when they ran out of money and had to buy food they changed their mind fast. I just wish the strike had gone on for another 6 months because it might have loosened up some very rare movie collectibles that have never been for sale.
Dude, you do realize that the strike was about more than just trinkets.

It's so true I have been struggling to find a job since I had to move due to losing my house that I was living in cuz I couldn't afford to pay it so ever since then I've been trying to find a job working around certain hours that I'm available and when I'm not available and I've been denied by several jobs due to I can't do the hours that they demand
