- When a civil war broke out in Sierra Leone in 1991 that lasted for 11 years leaving over 60,000 people dead and millions displaced, the United Nations deployed a peace mission to curb the violence. Retired warrant officer 1 Samwel Serem worked for the Kenya Army as a Regimental Signaler and was one of the soldiers tasked with bringing Peace to that West African Nation. Ben Troy Njue paid him a visit at his home in Moi’s Bridge Trans Nzoia County and filed this report for this week’s Edition of ‘MILITARY TALES’.
