- Day 4 of Grand Slam continues with another 2 Clan Wars. We are only 110 points away from 2nd which would be so good for us to get that Playoff Bye into the semifinals. As you can tell in the title and thumbnail the luck doesn't really go our way, but can we still pull out the wins?

No, it's random. In the last clan war video they played two events. Gyros team picked 17 of the 24 tracks across the events.

I think this is a really misrepresentative way to display luck factor in a 6v6 match, because realistically speaking, there are a lot of unaccounted for variables here and track selections are the only true thing that is entirely out of player control. In the match with us, the shock on Wii RR was very good for us, and the shock on MKS was pretty good for your team. The one on Pinball was completely unnecessary for the winning outcome of the race, and the ones on rWS and rDKJ had a comically small impact on the results of those races. A matter of fact on DKJ, considering the shock literally could not make the situation any better, the shock was actually a bad pull for Chibi, who could've perhaps had a better chance of catching up at the end had he got something like a bill earlier.
It could be described as unlucky for you guys to not pull a shock on DKJ, but I would argue that isn't the case. HD did not give you triple odds in this race, so the odds of pulling were equal across the board, despite HD's frontal advantage. Had you pulled the shock, you would've flipped the race. Whether or not HD pulled it, the race result was effectively the same. I think if you're discounting the PPS shock from your counter, it feels kinda silly to also consider DKJ as a "full" shock for HD, but again, this is kind of demonstrating the flaws of trying to turn shock factor into a single variable. None of them are really ever equal, and quite frankly, it feels like the effect on the match was pretty minimal here.
If it is the case that your team has been outshocked 4 matches in a row, it might be bad luck, but if it were to consistently happen, it might also come down to the team not positioning themselves properly. If that is the case, it would not be truthful to consider it a matter of bad luck. But I'm not going to pretend I've watched every match fully, so I'm not going to make that claim, but rather, state it as a possibility. It is just a pet peeve of mine to see the shock meta described without a lot of nuance, because it can make newcomers feel like the game is much more luck dependent than it actually is, and decide it's not worth their time. You of all people understand how deep 6v6 gets as well as what I've stated, and I think in this match, the shock count is not really indicative of the overall luck factor whatsoever. Maybe we were luckier overall, I can't say I know, I haven't watched the full match, but again, I'm just looking at the tallies provided. Of course, it's not that this stuff matters very much, but with this type of title, it definitely feels emphasized. I felt the need to push back a little bit in this regard.

10:28 can someone explain why they would pick cows in that spot? Seems like a strange pick to me but I've also never played a 6v6 so maybe I'm missing something. Only thing I can think of is they draft up with coins because of the 5 players being placed all in a row.
Tbh I’m not reading into their picks too heavily but it’s a drafter and a shroomer so I bet they were hoping to coordinate drafts while bottom spots tried to pull shroom
I always thought it was more of a runner than anything but I knew drafting was strong. Thanks.
