T. S. Monk is an American jazz drummer, composer and bandleader. He is the son of jazz pianist Thelonious Monk. T.S. Monk moved into the R&B scene when he formed a band with his sister Barbara and singer Yvonne Fletcher. House of Music was their debut album.
T.S. Monk was ahead of his time. This joint still ROCKS today.
Just remember who was his father. The Late Thelonious Monk.Just remember. The Apple Doesn't Fall to Far From The Tree😊😊😊
He couldn't help but to be ahead of his time pops made sure of that.
@@leonardbrown2219
Disco funk band formed by New Yorker Thelonious Monk Jr., the son of the legendary and revolutionary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk.
@@bmuhamad In the early 90's We were honoring his father. So he came and performed in Wiggins Park in Camden N.J I was working in Jazz Radio in Philly W.R.T.I.90.1 FM.And it was so awesome for me to see all of Jazz Artist in the area show up and fellowship and at the end. They all came on stage and did one of his fathers cut together.Shirley Scott,Johnathan Blake,Tony Williams, and others. And yes the brother can play them drum's😊😊😊P.S.And a special Thanks to the Camden County Board Of Free Holders who sponsored the Event..
Nothing like Old School Music! Gives me the good life! ❤️

YOU SAID IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhh yesss lawddddd! Always and forever!!🎧🎧🎧
Always!!!❤❤❤
Still Relevant In 2022.🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just found out that this is the son of legendary jazz pianist and composer Thelonius Monk
Thelonious Monks wife Nelly saved my daughters life by instructing us to give her fresh carrot juice for her urinary infection
In 2 weeks she was cured
The Dr laughed at us but Nelly knew about Doctor Walkers book of juice cures
Used in the 1920s in the south by black people who didn't have access to antibiotics.
We love Nelly Monk!
At least I helped write this song for her son and daughter!!
L.Russell Brown
@@l.russellbrown9732 l. russell brown! thank you for all your iconic tunes of this era! “use it up and wear it out” is also my jam

Sorry bruh ... inflation came calling.
I Am Love This Song 💕
IT'S 2024 AND WE STILL LISTENING 🎧 TO THIS SONG BECAUSE WE LOVE ❤ IT
We all gotta be tired of our current situations in life to be vibing to this wonderful masterpiece 😅
Never gets OLD!
I'm still singing it all these years later. One of the best disco songs out there!
Hard to believe R&B in this day and age is non-existent. Fortunately we have a HUGE library that runs from the 50’s to the early 2000’s!
Childhood memories of living in NYC (East New York, Brooklyn) Yankees baseball, Central Park, Empire Skating Rink, The Bronx Zoo, the Museums, The circus at MSG and the Knicks, Coney Island, Roberto Clemente State Park, Flushing Meadow Park and Mets Baseball, riding those noisy trains that can bust your eardrums, and etc at the time. I can never forget this song. It made life in the Big Bad Apple that much sweeter. 🍎⛸️🥲
Don't forget a club called The Loft on Spring St in Manhattan
New Lots Ave ❤
@kishasole01 My late mother worked through the ranks at the daycare center right there on New Lot's & Van Siclen Ave. She became boss around 1986 until she retired in1993. Sheffield Avenue, Highland Park, PS 72, IS 292.
This a classic NYC jam, that makes me missed NYC
My senior year in high school. OMG (Do the math). Still one of my favorites from that era. The list goes on and on. Zapp, Dazz Band, Confunkshun, Cameo, LTD, The Commodores, The BAR-KAYS, Earth Wind and Fire. I wonder why these producers and record labels won't do this type of music anymore. They sample from it. Why not just do it , just saying my generation put 5:13 out a helluva product. Real musicians playing real instruments. Guitars, horns, piano, real drummer, no computers or machines.
70's and 80's was the business
Old great funk old school cool
If your HERE you literally had to be looking for this track🤣
Yes!!! You right so so true.
Factzz!!! 😂🕺🏾
Fa Sho
Definitely!!! All my life I thought they were saying Bumble Bee!🤣🤣🤣
Yes I was. And I'm So Grateful to have Finally found it!!!😁😁😁🖤🖤🖤🖤
Thank God there is still GOOD MUSIC!!
This song is song funky. Got my kid jamming with me.
Mine too.
All three of my kids are "old souls"...age range early 30's to single digits...
They love my music more than Today's R&B & TRASH 🗑
Mine too! She say momma I didn't know people made songs like this. I told her that's what mommas are for. To show you the good music!❤ this classic so much.
This music is not seen or heard today. Sad.
It needs to we had fun... Instead of shooting at parties.
🎉
One of the coldest jams back in the day TS monk is underrated and the brother brought the goods, respect
Man they were a straight up CLASS ACT
Love this song BOSTON
Why folks use the word underrated on UA-cam so darn much
@@anthonytaylor7928 , it's because of the bombardment of 'music' I'm hit with constantly and repeatedly.
It's as if 2024 has no idea of what T.S. Monk's music sounds like.
Senior week in Binghamton, May 1981, me and a great newfound gf danced to this. This song 🎵 makes sense...even to this very day !
Back in the days I used to love to wake up to that song 😊
That man tellin Tha truth!😩 “Boy I’m so tired of punching that clock every [Goddamn] day”.😤🥴
After all these years of hearing "Bon Bon Vie (Gimme the Good Life)", I thought I'd give the rest of the album a listen. I heard "Bon Bon Vie (Gimme the Good Life)" on KQ 1060 AM and KXAM 1440 in Phoenix. I was a freshman at Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix and then transferred to Carl Hayden High School in early 1981. I will be turning 56 this May.
Time flies! I remember sitting on the sofa on a Saturday afternoon watching, Buck Rodgers, Doctor Who and Little House In The Prairie.
My jam...living the good life. Born and raised in New York City. 😊
Skating music and stepping
Barbeque music (picnic music)
EMPIRE SKATING RINK in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. 🛼🛼😁😁
Im officially turning into my damn parents! Im 29 y/o and I literally been looking for this track because my dad use to play this song every Saturday. Lol
Glad you found it aintcha!!! 🤣
We not holding it against you!!!!😂❤
This was my cousins favorite song.back in the early days of hip hop my cousin was light years ahead of himself and so was this music.Yah bless you Monty Frierson
I remember this growing up in NYC. It’s still very relevant today.
It sounds more like funk. This song has been in my head all day.
It’s time for a vacation✈️☀️🏖️
This is the jam!
Real Talk 👑
T.S. Monk open to me a new world in the music and his different expressions. Style, voices, musicalization and real disco glam ❤
This song reminds me of growing up in NYC. I met my first boyfriend around 86th and Central Park West.....Aaaaaaah BAE.
I remember when this song dropped I was so young 😮
Wow it still got that same feeling and vibes
One of my all time classic songs 🎵 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🎹🎶🎹🎤🎤👍🏾
I am so dancing this so magnificent music 🎹🎷🎺🎸. I had not heard this song in years and at my 64 years, I was hearing CBS 880 in NY and in between weather and traffic they put this song OMG. Found it here and what a blast back to the most best years of music and dancing and enjoying life. Dancing this is feeling young again. ❤😊
I'm so addicted to the chorus melody. The minor key, the funky optimistic chords on top of the melancholic trumpets just gives me a nostalgic feeling of my own childhood memories. "Give me the good life." 1:11
You can really hear where Pharrell drew inspiration from.
There’s a track on “N.E.R.D in search of..” that seems derivative of that chord progression.
@@dragonlotion1789 Thanks
😍😘
Slick classic right here! That intro Public Enemy used on Welcome To The Terrordome
One of my favorite workout jams; keeps the adrenaline flowing! Never goes out of style for me. You can't fake the funk. LOL
I found it. I heard it when d-nice was playing it on Instagram. I haven't heard it since the 80's when my parents was partying to this It's still ill. I'm in here two stepping like I was back in the days. Thanks!

What a jam from back-in-the-day when I was a kid. I wish today's music was this good!!! Luvin' the French lyrics!!!👍🏽
I love hip hop and sampling but I really love hearing where the music came from!
Big up to M.D. Illegal Rap Radio/ Lessons in Jazz for playing the old to the new.
Who remember this hit song by T. S. Monk? WBLS use to play this song left and right as well. Every time this song was being played on WBLS? I would be out on the floor dancing I also had their album as well. This song will never get 2 old. I still love this song 2 this very day. Give me the good life!!!
I think I first heard it on A.M WWRL
Takes me back to 1981 while listening to "The Soul Show" on the Pikes Peak Community College radio station KEPC in Colorado Springs, CO. I was stationed there for 2 years starting in January, 1981 and this was it for an R&B music on the radio. 3 hours daily, 7 days a week. Really, it wasn't bad at all.
Takes me back to the early days of mom and dad in NYC.im in North Carolina now, but I still myself listen to music like this if I'm not pumping hip hop or Gospel. Jeff to the left. Aka Pop
Feeling Good Song!🤩
