Girl, you either going to bankrupt me or get me divorced, lol! You are so good that every tutorial has me buying the pattern and more fabric. For real though, thank you for helping us create beautiful things!!
If those hanging zipper ends freak you out (worrying about the pulls flying off) just use a regular office stapler across the ends for a temporary stop. Then just cut the stapled end off when you trim.
So I finally made this purse. I have never sewn anything by machine, only hand stitched. I wanted to learn how to make my own purse and finally made my first purse today. I absolutely love all of your videos and you have 100% been my inspiration for learning how to sew as well learning patterns. I can not thank you enough!! You do a wonderful job on all of your videos and really show us who have never seen before we can do it. All I can say is thank you.
Perfect! Flying east to see my nine month old grandson and this will be the bag I carry. Thanks for the great tutorial on this super cute little bag. Gonna start mine as soon as I print out my pattern. Thanks again!
This is the best bag ever!!! I used waterproof canvas and you are SO correct. Sews like butter. The final assembly was a bit challenging with the boxed edges, but the key is SLOWLY. Thanks for another awesome tutorial.
Great tutorial. I love that you include so many extra explanatory details, ie. making little clips to mark the centers, clipping corners and especially putting the stitch lengths and seam allowances on the screen. Your explanations were super clear and I’m looking forward to watching again, this time making this bag along with you. Thank you!
Hi Jess! Thanks for the tutorial❣️ I made several of these Pixies, and I box the lining first and then the outer, because the lining is much flexibeler and it is not such a struggle if you box the (stiffer) outer first.. (just a tip 😊😊)
Jess! LOVE your tutorials! I just have to say, I liked the way you showed how to fix that little top stitching "oops". Most people probably would have just fixed it and edited the video, but this was REALLY helpful!
I have found that masking tape helps to keep the tabs in place while basting them in, as well as while I am doing the final stitching over them, And then remove the tape. Since the tabs are bulky, it can be tricky to keep them lined up when stitching over them. The masking tape leaves no residue, and keeps them lined up in both sides of the stitching lines.
Hi Annette, Diane at Spencer Ogg has a great video tutorial included in the PDF pattern for her Pixie Crossbody bag. The video link is on page 3 of the Pixie Crossbody PDF. You should have a look at the unlisted tutorial, it's worth it just to see Diane's FABULOUS hair!!
Are you using duck canvas ? I went to the Amazon link but not sure which product you would recommend. I enjoy your tutorials and would like to try this bag with the canvas. Thanks
Absolutely brilliant tutorial!! I have wanted to do this for ages but my brain couldn't work out how to do the sides. Thanks Jess it all makes sense now ❤
Hi, I am from Germany, started sewing only 2 years ago. Always searching for cool videos that help me - love all your videos and I think, I will do some of the bags and wallets you've shown. BUT where can I get all this cool fabrics and vinyl you use? love all that disney stuff, the rainbows and things you use! where can I get them?
Amazing tutorials!!! Im super new to sewing and have recently found your channel on UA-cam and you are hands down my favorite person to watch! If you are willing and able... could you do a tutorial for the pelican tote? I've scoured the internet in search for a good tutorial and although there are some decent ones out there... your method of teaching is my favorite! Thank you thank you thank you for everything you do!
Oooooh Jess this is just gorgeous. I had been working long shifts this week so I had to wait until I had a day off to watch this and it was well worth the wait. When I saw the pattern pieces I was scratching my head wondering how this was going to work and like you at the end I’m like WOW! Such a perfect wee bag. Thanks again for an amazing tutorial XXX
I love your tutorials and your easy-going style. I've wanted to make a crossbody bag. Do you have a pattern you've done that has a zipper on three sides with pockets inside for credit cards?
Hi Jesse i want to make this bag. I purchased the pattern printed off everything but the paper templates... What am i doing wrong? PS Happy Mother's Day T
Thanks for all of your tutorials! They are really helpful! One thing about this tutorial --around 33:55, you say to put the strap connector right side down against the zipper. I did that, and now that I've turned my bag out, the rectangle rings have the wrong side facing out. They curve slightly away from the purse instead of towards it. I think maybe for rectangle rings, they need to be placed right side up. I'm bummed, but I'm hoping once I have the strap on, it will be less obvious.
I’m making my second one this weekend. I feel like need to do a better job at getting my lining smaller so I’m going to do more of a 1/4” seam on the exterior. The other thought I have is that I think the lining needs a top stitch at the zipper too. What do you think?
So, I just made my 6th one and finally realized how important the seam allowances AND the 1/4” seam when installing the zipper. I know I’m always fat on my 1/4” and it makes a difference when boxing the sides. I think I thought “no biggy” when my arms and legs weren’t actually the same size lining up. Well guess what, size matters!
I just had a thought.... Take this pattern but put the clips on the purse and rings on the strap, like the swoon moto and have an optional hip bag as well! Thinking about making this one for my mom who wanted a small crossbody for when they go to the park with the dogs
@@OklaRoots believe it or not, your tutorials have helped me while I am grieving. Lost my mom two months ago and I decided to get back to sewing (my mom was always sewing) to help me with the loss of my beloved mother.
If we don't want to do a mesh pocket, do we just cut a piece of fabric, piece of lining, sew em to gether at the top, flip and topstitch like most other pockets?
Thanks for another amazing tutorial! When you use waterproof canvas, which side do you use as the “right” side? I thought you did woven side out, but your comment about people thinking it’s vinyl made me wonder if you use the treated side out..
Waterproof canvas got teared easily on the wrong side especially at corners and part where they folded.there's no way you want it to happen for your bag
I made a few of these and all with a single zip on the top but it is important that it's the right width as I nearly did it with a dress zip and that wouldn't work (she emphasises this in the actual pattern which I nearly missed) and I use zip on a roll in size #5 which is less expensive than a double zip.
Does anyone know where I can purchase waterproof canvas in store. If so, what should I be asking for? Went to Joann’s and clerk didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.
So Tex 70 would be very thick, but Mara 70 is not as thick. I know, thread weight by brand is tricky. A Tex 45 thread is a bit thicker than a Mara 70 weight thread.
Can you please show me how to put the zip pulls on to the zipper tape. At the moment this is my partners job. He’s either more patient than me or has the knack so it would definitely help. Thanks Love your easy to follow tutorials
there are great tutorials on YT for this - but keep trying - the #5 zip tape used in this pattern makes it easier to put on the pulls than #3 tape which is fiddly
The strap assembly has to be the most detailed yet easiest video that I've seen. Thanks again!
Girl, you either going to bankrupt me or get me divorced, lol! You are so good that every tutorial has me buying the pattern and more fabric. For real though, thank you for helping us create beautiful things!!
You and me both!! I have to stop buying material! But every bag deserves its own special something 😂
I totally agree! I definitely didn't need this pattern but I love learning new tricks and techniques.
Haha!! You said it!!
Luckily for me, I’m already divorced. Bring on all the supplies!!
🤣🤣 me too, I am like let me just place an order this is cute too not make 🙃
So cute! Thanks for missing that topstitching on the outer pocket and fixing it later, I love the reality of your tutorials. Like sewing with a friend
Wonderful, Teacher! I been sewing a while and this bag, and you taught me a lot! Thank you
If those hanging zipper ends freak you out (worrying about the pulls flying off) just use a regular office stapler across the ends for a temporary stop. Then just cut the stapled end off when you trim.
Clever idea
I do that as well or I'll use masking tape if my stapler isn't handy.
That is an adorable bag!
I made over 14 of these bags for Xmas gift, last year!! Love it! And I get requests to make more of these bags for other people!

Wonderful tutorial and I finally completed two of these bags after watching you make it.

Love love love your tutorials. Can you please do a tutorial for Spencer Ogg Forever Shopper Bag? I can’t find one on her page.😕

If I need to make a smaller bag, about a 7x5, do you think I can print at a smaller percentage? Or would that not work for this type of pattern?
I love how all your pattern pieces match perfectly!! I can never get mine that perfect no matter how hard I try!

To keep the zipper pulls from coming off you can add a small safety pin to the ends as a stopper.
Can it be made just from the fabrics?

Based on finished measurements it should fit a kindle paper white.
Beginner friendly? it has all these arms then this round cylinder thingy more arms and legs and HEY how did that happen it sure is cute!!
