Her voice changed after an operation that messed up her vocal cords, ironically giving her the raspy voice that made her famous in these videos. :)
Wasn't the operation good but Bonnie didn't wait to fully heal and she sang soon after and that's what damaged the cords? Either way, that raspy voice is basically having lemons and making the best damn lemonade ever lol.
This was originally written for a play. It was about a vampire that was going to make his love (this woman) into a vampire. In the song she is responding to his desire. When you listen to it again knowing this all the lyrics make more sense.
Yup
I was 67yo when this song came out. Now I'm 30!! 🤷🏾♂️
How does that work...?
@@edward9628 doesn't even know how to turn back time🙄
Reincarnation.
Dude "WHAT ?".
😂
Fact #1 Bonnie Tyler “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” is a song about vampire lovers and how they have to contend with loneliness and darkness. Its original writer (Jim Steinman is also meatloaf's writer on some of his biggest hits) was at the time writing for a school musical named Nosferatu in April of 1982. The original titles to total eclipse include "Come in the night" . Later it was changed to "vampires in love" because it was reported that Jim had written a portion of the song during a lunar eclipse (he had been working on the song before him and Bonnie began working as a team). Then they finally settled on "total eclipse of the heart". And so a masterpiece was born.
Kind of right. Bonny was really not happy with the people who made this video. It really puts Bonny in a bad light. The song has a very different meaning than that of the video, as most videos of that era did. The video is about a teacher at an all-boys prep school who is having impure thoughts (and/or dreams) about her students. At the very end when you see the teacher meeting her students, she is freaked out by the student with "bright eyes", not knowing if her fantasies are invading her waking life.
Good call young lady about the vampire!!!!! Steinman wrote this as a vampire song for a for a musical he was writing.
Bonnie herself said numerous times she had no idea what the video is about, but it looked good. Was filmed in Chertsey, Surrey at the old Holloway Asylum. Now turned into a residential building.
I was 9 years old in 1980, too! 🙂
Love this song!
Bonnie Tyler I’d still alive and just released a CD of new music in late 2020. I was 16 when this song first came out and it still gives me goosebumps when I hear it
i was 10 when it came out the video scared me a bit with the bright eyes. but the song slammed!
Am I the only getting a Joel from The Last Of Us vibe from the dad?
I actually thought about dressing up like him for Halloween a few years ago.
Great song; whackadoodle video. You'll live a lot longer if you don't try to figure this one out. Bonnie is not only alive, but still performing. She sang that song on a cruise ship during a recent eclipse. If you kids love this song, go listen to I'd do Anything for Love (But I won't do that), and the entire Bat out of Hell album, both by Meat Loaf, also written by the same brilliant artist, Jim Steinman.
Omg you guys are funny 😄.. Yall 3 should be reacting to more videos. Love the dynamics! 👍
It's a song. With Vampires. Eclipse?
Redefine based on your Twilight novels. Reconsider the glowing eyes and hot bods.
it's a vampires love song. it was written for a play about Nosferatu. Yup it is as Kiser said. "It was about a vampire that was going to make his love (this woman) into a vampire. In the song she is responding to his desire." The music video was directed by the guy who directed Highlander. It was just him going nuts with a whole bunch of dark shit that doesn't mean anything except the glowing eyes.
This song is actually from 1983
I was born in 80, great reaction yall
I loved when the dad was like I was 9
Then the daughter with the glasses said we were negative 23 lol I was rolling 🤣
She’s a teacher who had fantasies about her students
Check out the movie "Village of the Damned". Its about these kids with glowing eyes that have powers!
I loved watching a dad trying to have a conversation with 2 young ladies from a totally new generation about a song from the 80's, and what the video was trying to say. The deadpan stare into the camera from the dad early on cracked me up. And the young dark haired lass was spot on when she said the videos from the 80's were weird. I could never figure out why there were a bunch of guys flopping around like a bunch of untrained seals either :)
This is a love story about vampires
...more about Vampires, straight from the write (Jim Steinman)'s mouth: Steinman said in an interview with Playbill, about the inclusion of the song in his 1997 musical Dance of the Vampires:
with 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', I was trying to come up with a love song and I remembered I actually wrote that to be a vampire love song. Its original title was 'Vampires in Love' because I was working on a musical of Nosferatu, the other great vampire story. If anyone listens to the lyrics, they're really like vampire lines. It's all about the darkness, the power of darkness and love's place in the dark...[11]
Fantastic comment, Jeffrey. I didn’t know this at all. I have always loved this song; I’ve always loved vampires. Learning about the vampiric allusions in the song is a revelation, and a welcome one.
@@darkprose That's great to hear! Yeah, I think Tanz Der Vampire would be right up your alley. It's all Jim Steinman songs, and all vampires. He's written so many beautiful songs, some even more amazing than Total Eclipse of the Heart!
i was 8 years old when this came out
The only explanation for this video - the director was high. . . .
I was 16 when it came out.
1983
Jim Steinman wrote this son and all of Meatloafs songs. And many more for other artists and movies.
That’s why I like this song!!!!! Thanks for the explanation. I love meatloaf and didn’t know that
Good observation about vampires! This song (a variation of it) is in Tanz Der Vampire, a musical that involves Jim Steinman (the writer) songs. Here is a clip! ua-cam.com/video/gVB-4MwgGU8/v-deo.html
You guys are all sooooo funny!🤣😂😅
The studio album version is actually a little longer with added lyrics. It sounds more complete.
the song is actually about vampires. for real.
Jim Steinman wrote this search for him. he wrote for Meatloaf.
MrSteinmann Said , he wrote in just for Bonnie ( everything else is wrong!!)
I heard him say 1980, it was 1983…..worst year ever but this song helped me get through….my aunt was murdered in January 1983….this song helped me get through the rest of that horrid year
Yeah, I was mistaken about the year. I was thinking about another song actually. I was like 11 so what do you expect.
@@TroyShaw well the only reason why my memory was so vivid was because my aunt had been murdered due to domestic violence….it was horrible I was 14
@@kenteoth I bet. So sorry about your aunt.
The Kid was her loves son.
Song came out in 1983
Yikes...dad, it was 1984, not 1980.
My bad.
*1983...
Many times the directors vision was vastly different from the artists vision. Basically she’s surrounded by boys not MEN. She’s looking for a hero duh lol
What to say about teen react. I'm 55 and I don't want to react like an old disconnected man. So this song from 80's was right on my spot. But I remember also listening with great pleasure tracks from the 70's, and 60's with an active ears without to compare to my génération music. You should try some led zeppelin and even better some Pink Floyd tracks and you will start to have a taste of what a long song is. Honnestly I'm feeling time shorter when listening to some of these long tracks compared to some shorter 2 or 3mns todays's track... Time relativity applied to music. I'm open to a lot of music style from many période. When a song does not touch me, I just skip but without trying to dismentle mimic a caricature of the voice or sounds used etc.... Please try to listen and not just give one ear only while checking incoming face de bouc or whatever.... Just try and see, else skip. Cheers
She is a teacher . The video is about her wanting sexual relationships with the students . Bright eyes is referring to youth and innocence . It's the voice in her head warning her the boys are too young
Thats exactly what I thought lol
Centrifuge hair.
I don't know the metaphorical meaning, but looks to me that she's a headmistress of an all boys school and she's making the rounds at night while the night/supernatural students are doing their classes/clubs. Just now finding this channel and I enjoyed the react.
Thanks!
@@TroyShaw You're very welcome
1984 is when it was released in the USA.
I misspoke.
1983
@@RH-lt3nh yep! You’re correct. My bad.
This song is from 1983, not 1980
I know that now thanks to all the comments. Lol
The girl in the middle is so loud
serry.
😁😁 my ged
Troy Shaw I’d gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for you meddling kids
When you have 20 Producers call to an album nowadays it’s gonna fucking suck
It was an 80's video, the never made sense, experimenting.
Love your'e reaction ❤🌹
Thanks!
Im listened make me cry
This song didn't come out until 1983, and it was HUGE in the USA. I'm not sure where you got 1980. I did a wiki search, and it looks like it came out in 1983 worldwide.
Yep, I didn't do a wiki search before I did the video.
The all talking/all knowing girl in the light blue, would be no joy to be around. Then you chop up the song.
Kevin Stewart you don’t remember being 16 and all knowing?
Exactly
The meaning...cocaine lots of cocaine.
06:16 yes, you got it. :)
Actually, you were 12 years old when this song came out in 1983.
LOL @ the comments!!! The video has nothing to with the song!!! Don't over analyse. The song is about being overwhelmed with being in love- the total eclipse of the heart. The song was taken from a then un-released opera called "Tanzier der Vampire" (Dance of the Vampire). Bonnie is not dead. She just celebrated her 70th birthday.lol
with 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', I was trying to come up with a love song and I remembered I actually wrote that to be a vampire love song. Its original title was 'Vampires in Love' because I was working on a musical of Nosferatu, the other great vampire story. If anyone listens to the lyrics, they're really like vampire lines. It's all about the darkness, the power of darkness and love's place in the dark...[11]
"Nosferatu, the other great vampire story"
Nosferatu is just a very early film adaptation of Dracula with some details changed.
Bram Stoker's estate actually sued the film makers of the original Nosferatu to the point that nearly all copies of the film were destroyed.
The DVDs/Blurays etc made from the film are sourced from cinema prints rather than the original camera negatives sadly, which were almost certainly destroyed.
The music video makes her look like a School Head Mistress who's into younger men, and the video show cases the young men she's been after (likely most of them WAY to young). Mean while the song is nothing of the sort, speaking from the point of view of a woman who has found the perfect man in her life, and how she needs him now and for the rest of her life.
What beautiful is the dad 😍🤭 i've to say
If you can Moan you can sing today!!!
CHECK OUT THE MOVIE "Streets of fire"
I think is not a love song, is a prayer.
You must have been born in 1971
I just really hope you guys also saw the literal video later. AMAZINGLY FUNNY! ua-cam.com/video/fsgWUq0fdKk/v-deo.html
The video is the "rambling" thoughts of a woman who is going through a breakdown about her personal relationships. She happens to be a teacher in an All Boy's School, so her breakdown includes "nightmarish" scenes of the kids from the school. The "ending" is stereotypical for the era. Was it only a dream? ........... or NOT.
Guys love reaction videos but geez watch the video instead of pausing it so much. Give the opinion at the end.
You don't know girls do you? lol
Not at all .... only married to one for 23 yrs and have 3 daughter all over the age of 17. Wasn’t trying to be disrespectful only constructive. I’ll be moving on. Good luck.
lol. i was BLONDE when this song came out. So f'n blonde. ;( Now i'm "grey....in more ways that one. ;)"
also, check out the "literal parody" version of this. hillarious.
Aren’t we all.
CACKLE!
what happened at 3:05...
An edit?
Barely heard the song, just a lot of juvenile giggling, non-stop interruptions and inane comments. Here's an idea: pause occasionally to say something worthwhile and save the rest until the song has been completed if you want to increase your subscribers. And please no "well, why don't you try and do better, or you can't do better"; it's not a valid argument, the same way It's not necessary I be a chef to know a meal has been badly cooked.
@@garethedwards1926 I look forward to your reaction video.
I hear this song is about homosexual (gay) subpression or oppression in the 1980"s . I think the lady in the video lost a love at a young age, maybe a first love, and now she is so affected by the longing for her lost love that she in her mind and heart sees a bit or piece of him in the young guys she teaches. She longs so strongely for the lost love she may never have. Lost in her past. "Turn around bright eyes".
Get ur little one under control sounds annoying
1 9 8 3!!!!!!!!!
You better criticize the new cartoons, because culture shows that you don't know anything. You better stay with Billie Eilish, you don't know beyond that.
She want to be with her student
Kids think they know everything. And they're too loud.
Really bad guys.
Bonnie Tyler is still alive. I saw her perform a few years back and she still looked great (although she had a lot of work). Y’all sound like goofballs is every video like this and why can’t white people do good react videos?
that's racist. lol
Everything is racist etc. And I’m white too. Hello.
@@KingFahtah It's a joke and it's just a video. Like it or not, I don't care.
Shut up and listen!
You sound like a ball of fun.
They were just talking and talking, and just a bunch of nonsense.
stop talking.
Stop watching.
how can anyone react with all that talking going on - it's no only rude but ignorant
Then watch the video and not us.
