I love how certain machines fill certain ecological niches that are unique to machines (like Shell Walkers, or Control Towers) due to diferences in capacities between organic and non-organic beings.
The Shell Walkers actually do have a zoological analogue: the drones of Ants and Bees! They go out and collect resources for their hive/Cauldron to feed their companions and let their queen/fabricator reproduce more members of their network. Heck, Honeypot Ants have members specifically for the storage and distribution of food; the abdomens of some Honeypot Ants contain a giant expandable sac that’s used for storing food processed into a sugary honey-like nectar. Other ants even carry out part of the refinement process, so the members with honeypots are purely storage, just like Shell Walkers. You could compare Control Towers and their drones to some combination of (eusocial) insect hive and Cleaner Wrass, Cleaner Shrimp, Oxpeckers, and/or Plover Birds. Those last 4 creatures are essentially the dentists or doctors of the animal world: they clean the teeth or skin of other animals clean of detritus and parasites, getting a meal while improving the health of their “patients.”

"Unlike some herbivores, though, chargers have an aggressive side" I've personally never been a fan of people painting herbivores as passive. The vast, vast majority of them are just as dangerous, if not more so, than the carnivores in their ecosystems.

I'm not a fan of that either. Especially since a lot of the wild animal injuries you hear about at national parks (the vast majority of them I'll bet) are to folks who go right up to a bison or other large herbivore because, even if the person disdains the idea of veganism, they still think "herbivore cruelty-free, therefore safe" and assume they can just walk right up to a bison (or other large herbivore, though it usually seems to be bison) and pet it. The metal Devils are so menacing when you see them in the distance. I can only imagine what they were like when they were alive. Even worse, I can imagine how they can come back. In vivid detail. A single corruptor wanders the frozen wastes, its only company being a fellow deathbringer whose weapons have long since rusted off. The two spot a control tower in the distance using its drones to repair a fallen Frostclaw. The two then look up the mountain, beholding the gargantuan corpse of their third brother. For the first time in a century, connections begin to form in the mind of one of the forgotten warriors. From these connections within the mind of the corruptor, an idea is born. A horrible, horrible idea. With a single sting of its tail the control tower flails wildly, before suddenly going limp. As it slowly reawakens the lights across its body turn a startling purple, just one of the many sinister symptoms of the Corruptor's sting. It's larger brother does not pay mind to the state of the tower. Rather it is focused on the thousands of small repair drones who have stopped mid-air as if frozen in time. The buzzing of the swarm echoes into the sky as they migrate toward the fallen Devil. Deep within the eyes of the two old machines, the faintest hint of emotion can be seen. Neither machine knows the true name of the emotions they feel, but a quick scan through their old memories reveals a word that is deeply associated with their current feelings: "Revenge"

Yes, the only time machines attack other machines is if they are of diffrent factions: normal, tamed (blue wires), corrupted (red wires), crazed (green), and demonic (purple)
The idea of autonomous machines repairing and “terraforming” ecosystems is genius. It would be nice if it were applicable in the real world. It would be like in the game, a way to restore and protect ecosystems and even terraform planets like Mars.

Soo good and calming. I listened to this before going to bed and it relaxes me just like Attenborough!
Wow he is just getting battered by all sorts of machines today he's even getting spotted in his last video not much of that happened but in this one oh boy now I understand why it's so dangerous
I found this channel randomly one day and it has quickly become one of my favorites
You don't understand how happy this made me! I love this game so much!
The robots in this game dont attack each other right? Are they part of the same hivemind, where herbivores collect the materials to create more machines, and carnivores protect them
Yes, the only time machines attack other machines is if they are of diffrent factions: normal, tamed (blue wires), corrupted (red wires), crazed (green), and demonic (purple)
@@omegamon0239 yes.. and crazed its Just a temporary effect
Actually daemonic machines don't attack normal machines
Stole my heart with that Badger clip XD
The idea of autonomous machines repairing and “terraforming” ecosystems is genius. It would be nice if it were applicable in the real world. It would be like in the game, a way to restore and protect ecosystems and even terraform planets like Mars.
I love this so much! Superb writing and editing, subscribed!
I dont remember ever coming across control towers, so this is unique to me, I love it
This guy out here avoiding death like it's a dance, thanks for the epic footage you madlad
I never knew that other machines would attack corruptors. I've only seen already corrupted machines near them, but never regular machines. That's such a cool detail.
I think The Towers are like Fungal Plants spewing out there Spores.
Respect and keep up the epic work.
I love your "biology of video games" series, you should make more....
i love this biology series you make my day :D
These videos are so cool! And Forbidden west stuff I’m excited
Realy apriseat the hard work you do on your every vido.
I love the fact you added quotes
this series was bloody wonderful, I’ve watched it twice already. I’d really love to see a speculation video on the biology of creatures from halo or half-life, I think that’d be pretty neat!
This is the luckiest guy ever. Everytime a robot tries to attack him he misses. btw love your work Curious Archive, I have watched the whole biology of th Subnautica and it was very good. You have priceless content, keep it as it is; perfect
Like I said last time this is really interesting and I really wish they were more UA-camrs that do stuff like this
literally my favorite game in existence
The fact that he was able to Dodge a stalker swipe so that he's either one been trained as a brave or is extremely lucky people that have been training for their entire lives have outright been one shot by those guys with ease
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Cheers!
I’d love to see a speculative architecture video! Like, how would lighter gravity affect architectural rules and methods? What about different building materials? Could be very interesting!
Very cheeky Alien Planet mockumentary style. I appreciate it.
I’ve been waiting for this cool
19:44 yES !!
I'm loving these videos so much, I'm keen for the next installment
Yes I enjoyed and I wish that video is one hour long in many many episodes
Charger is quite a creative name for Ram which is I think a reference to Dodge Charger and Ram
Haha I just finished watching the first one! Thanks for the great videos 💕
I love these expedition style videos
Thus my evening is made
Oh I love this so much! Please cover Forbidden West!
I was waiting for this ❤️
Just came back to let you know that Horizon forbidden west + burning shores are coming to steam soon(edit: the date has been confirmed, it’s coming out in march) hope you do another episode when it comes out.
Can't not wait for the next one!
I absolutely love this channel
You should do more videos like this its so calming
That was really cool 💯
You might have a future as the new Attenborough
Great content my dude 👍🏾
What a wonderful series
This is why I'm subscribed!
One more month y'all and he can start working on a video for Forbidden West. I can't wait for it to happen!
I just love how this documentary says frostclaws are one of the most dangerous machines but in game it just "fire arrows go brrrrr"
