Luka has two more gears. One where he’s hitting 3s and then play off Luka.(he’s not healthy so I doubt we’ll see much of this) if Luka hits 3s and role players hit 3s this will be an insanely hard series for the wolves
Swear. Luka vs the clippers in the bubble was dropping 40 point triple doubles against Kawhi and PG. We haven’t even seen him put on his 100% killer mode yet.

Gobert defensive all first team, Jaden is 2024 defensive all 2nd team, ANT defensive all 3rd team. ANT in the MVP race and on the USA Olympic Team. This team is stacked and should be dominated the playoffs.

I would prefer a post game before 3s tbh. He gets a lot of smalls switched on him because of Luka. Abusing those mismatches and capitalizing on doubles with his passing ability seems more attainable and impactful than shooting.
Let’s stop using fatigue from the previous series as an excuse. Both teams are tired. Luka had Dort on him the entire OKC series. His legs should be gone at this point. Ant was tired bc he had to chase Kyrie around the entire game. That’s not going to change unless Ant gets taken off of that assignment. The Mavs are the most complete team they’ve faced this postseason. Luka and Kyrie are going to get whatever they want all series. I think by the end of this series everyone will recognize Dallas as the best defensive team in the league.

Minnesota can obviously win the next game. The problem is that Dallas has an adjustment waiting on standby any time Minnesota changes their strategy. Dallas can play whatever game Minnesota wants to play. And that’s the real problem that no one has been able to solve. So saying Minnesota is going to win without explaining how is just sort of wishful thinking.

He is so wide and so aware of the space he has to use the shotclock entirely and squeeze the best shot avaible.
If PJ and DJJ and Josh Green and Hardaway could shoot 35% on the 3 balls this game is a blowout.
The 50/50 balls were all Dallas way, rebounds, putbacks. Luka and Ky feasted on the midrange bc of wolves drop coverage.
Dallas will punish your flaw gameplay and poor executions. He reads the game and he stick his finger in your wounds.
the other reason the drop wrked v den is that jokic is no lob threat. kat/rudy weren't worried abt the joker getting behind them. so they could help more on murray coming off the screen. joker wasnt a threat to pop either. all kat had to do was stop the pocket pass
jokic doesnt even try to roll all the way to the rim he uses ag in the dunker to pressure the rim but that brings rudy in help too so min really wasnt worried abt a lob pass from murray what so ever

That's the real strength of Minnesota, their overall team is really good. Half the time they look better when Edwards is sitting.
I think it's a really good point that the wolves were a little bit high on how great they did against Denver and kind of got punched in the nose on this one. And they'll come back with a little more focus.
ANT was just ball watching, amazing.
The Timberwolves can't bank on the Mavs shooting as low from 3 again. Ant looked totally uninterested and was gassed 20 minutes in. That is an issue. He can't guard Kyrie. All their size advantage was taken away from the Twolves with the Mavs' speed and placement.
The only thing that went wolves way was that they shot from 3 really well. Other than that, this was a horrible game from the Wolves. Poor effort on defense, not locked in at all. I'd be shocked if this is what we get from the Wolves consistently in this series. This is about the worst you could expect from them as far as defense, hustle, and rebounding go.
The biggest difference in this series is that OUR star is the BEST offensive player in the league and one of the BEST playmakers also.
GAME 2 is going to be all about picking your poison, either let LUKAI cook or pray the role players are off and let them shoot the open 3 because one on one coverage is not working for the Wolves.
both teams can improve, gonna be a fun series. our defense definitely looked lackadaisical throughout. I still feel pretty good that the wolves will come out of this series. if they lose game 2 that doesnt bode well for us. lol

Just curious and not looking to troll here, what made you think that a guy putting up 34/10/9 throughout the regular season and 28/9.5/9 in the playoffs was going to be dominated by a guy who averaged 25/5/5 through the season and 28/5.5/5 in the playoffs? Did you just believe it was going to happen because you’re a fan or were you not aware that Luka’s health (and numbers) had been improving the last few games of the OKC series.
I’ve never been as sure of anything in sports as I was that he was gonna come out strong and have a big series even though he did shoot a little below his regular field goal percentage. I researched it, I listened to wolves fans and analysts, and did my best to take my personal bias out of the equation and I just didn’t see any way he wasn’t going to (at a minimum) put up the best numbers of anyone in the playoffs.
@@SDesWriter I saw Andrew Wiggins make Luka get into trouble, Anthony can do that and more. Also, Luka’s health to me is always hit or miss at this point. You see him bleed again from that knee? 🩸 Kyrie’s health feels a lot more reliable now than it’s ever been because he looks like he’s doing what Bron likes to do which is pace himself and his body for certain moments when he needs to push on the gas pedal and when to slow it down.

@@nicoalexander774 Luka’s being so frustrated had a lot to do with the clippers intentionally hurting him several times and him dealing with not being able to shoot due to fouls that were never called seriously as they should have. it’s pretty rare that another player gets in his head or causes some kind of real problem for him but I’m not sure about the specific incident you’re talking about will just chalk it up to his injury making his already short temper even shorter.
I don’t think Edwards can get to him that way but perhaps if he was guarding Luka and causing a bad game it’s possible but unlikely. For his health I’m talking about his abysmal shooting numbers due to not getting lift on his jump shot. He had three triple doubles in a row in the last three OKC games and the last two games shooting was off the charts great. He’s gonna be a little nicked up and on a good bump it’s going to aggravate something but unless he takes another shot to the knee I don’t think It’s going to cause those kind of problems.
I suppose the mental way is definitely the easiest to attack him with but I don’t foresee that working. Who knows? At least I can understand your opinion on it . I’m more about the numbers and just assume the coaching staff and other players are going to help keep things under control.

Yeah but he was already gassed and Luka is a way more physically taxing matchup than Kyrie. Also Luka cooked him the times they got switched on to each other. Drew 2 fouls and absolutely lost him on a spin.
Ant doesn't have a prayer of guarding Luka for a full game.
the more i thought about this, if its one on one maybe but luka still murders with that step back. and then all the screens he could throw at ant would tire him out again. i dont think that is the most beneficial for the wolves. i think it just needs to be tighter and more locked in 1-5

The new Michael was on Luka for 2 possessions. On 1, Luka got a very easy and very obvious and1. On the other, Luka spun off him like he wasn't there. Plus they can't risk Edwards getting into foul trouble.

This was really a fluke game for the Mavericks and not in a good way and they still found a way to win despite the Wolves being extremely hot from 3. If the Mavs even only shoot 30% from 3, this game would have been the 30 point blowout this should have been. Luka is a horrible matchup for the Wolves defense, McDaniels and ANT can not keep up with him phiscally, and KAT, Gobert and Conley are all bbq chicken for Luka. Playing drop defense against Luka is suicidal, it is by far the worst defensive scheme you can try against him. The Mavs missed so many wide open 3s that they normally make, the wolves simply had to win that game considering how short the Mavs fell in terms of their offensive potential.
I get that putting Luka in the title is gonna draw more clicks, same with DOMINATED, but as a long time viewer it's getting kinda annoying and losing the real narrative. It was an extremely close game, and Luka was -9 in the game, and horrible on D in the first half in particular. Like I get it, but come on.
Ya Luka only had the 2 biggest defensive plays of the game. He definitely should talk about Edwards more though right? No one ever does.

Two adjustments they can make is have Ant guard Luka and Jaden guard Kyrie. Ant is more stout like Dort. He didn’t look good against him last game but it could be worth it to give him the assignment. I think Jaden’s length can give Kyrie issue plus he has the stamina to chase him all game. Second option is going really big and starting Reid. He can guard Luka, Jaden can guard Kyrie and Ant can guard a non scorer and worry about conserving energy for offense. It’s tough because Conley is on the bench and you lose a ball handler.
I said this somewhere else but if Ant is already gassed from chasing Kyrie, giving him an even more physically taxing matchup may just destroy their offensive production. Wolves CANNOT afford for Ant to be at the top of the arch trying to catch his breath with the ball in his hands again.

As a mavs fan i love this ideia. Ant cant even bore Lukas dribble, Luka will put him on his hip, will shoot over his contest, will bait him into rip through shot fakes.
Ant will get fatigued and in foul trouble and will settle for deep shots because the paint is loaded.
If you put Reid on Luka, he will pull him out of the paint, and cook you with lobs because you are overextended.
If wanna play 3 bigs on kat rudy and reid, you will have a hard time with kyries drive and kicks to open 3. You just gonna hope the role players miss their open looks.
