I was a huge Dolphin fan as a boy through the Shula years. It was a thrill to see him walking through the Charlotte airport in the 80’s. I was surprised when I saw him and I exclaimed “ Don Shula”. He looked at me and nodded. What a great guy.
YEAH, 1,000%!! BUT too bad ESPN never appreciated it enough & let it lapse~we should still have it on ESPN, as there are an endless number of truly great, inspiring sports stories out there that this should be a big hit even nowadays, year after year! Such a shame...
FYI. fact check, Don Shula is an icon of a leader, a heroe with all due respect, an angel from god, and he believed that everyone should cut the mustard regardless of their shortcomings and march on to perfection.
He became the coach in 1964 at 33 years old he did lose some of the most important games in NFL history. But also won a few championships as well all his players played hard for him that's all a coach needs to have great teams
I was a huge Dolphins & Shula fan growing up in Ohio. I was picking up some ribs on a Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati and was wearing a Miami Hurricanes hat....when Coach Shula walking out with his son Dave. He said how you doing Kid? You a Dolphins fan too? I was like....aaahhh yeah...I mean yes.. Sir
Don Shula said "Fuck" on Monday Night Football. He was my hero. I played as a Dolphin in my 5th grade grid kids days. Those days are the reason why I am a Dolphin fan. I'm a Montana.
Don Shula and Dan Marino are the reason why we see Dick Vermiel and Andy Reed today! Without that duo that unfortunately just didn't have the timing and resources to win a championship most teams today would probably still be smash mouth teams with vary little difference between one team and the next! I think between Don and Dan they revolutionized passing and offense...
All them Dolphin fans that wanted Shula fired because they thought he wasn't a good coach. How did that work out for all you dolphin fans now that you've sucked for the last 27+ years.

The best coach ever! I so miss him. And to see Dave Barry talking about Shula. RIP Coach Shula.
SportCentury was the beginning of a great sports documentary.

@@michaelfabian3036 ESPN took ESPN Classic and all of its shows for granted.
Coach Shula will always be the best.
An amazing Coach
Rip coach Shula
Unfortunately, they don’t make coaches like Don Shula anymore.

He was a great coach only one to have a perfect season something. No other coach or team will ever achieve !!
It would be very difficult but it's not impossible. A lot of breaks would have to go your way.
Love this

Reporter: One passer cannot win a Superbowl
Mahomes: I won 2 in 4 years.

Don Coryell and Sid Gillman as well
Wow was that a perfect pass 13:28
Look up some of the stories about Shula as a player on Colts told by Art Donovan - funny.

😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Don Shula lost:
1964 NFL championship
1968 Super Bowl
1971 Super Bowl
1982 Super Bowl
1984 Super Bowl
He just coaches the team. And it is an all around team effort in order to win. He won 2 Superbowls as a coach. Plus the undefeated 1972 season.
1972 SUPERBOWL PERFECT SEASON 1973 SUPERBOWL REPEAT
I didn’t know Shula played in the game man hear I thought those were 22 players out there
Never won after 1973 he sucked
He lost with better teams except 84
